Hurricane Harvey has already completely destroyed many houses, and almost completely flooded Houston- a 2200sq. mile city, densely populated by 7 million people.

it’s only day two, and the worst is yet to come. the hurricane is predicted to be returning to the gulf, before coming back up towards houston again. over 3,000 National Guard members have been deployed by the Texas governor, Greg Abbott, to work on rescuing the growing number of people affected by the storm.

five people have already died, more than a dozen are injured, and over 1,700 people have evacuated their homes due to the water (there wasn’t an issued evacuation for houston, though officials regret not doing so).

text “harvey” to 90999 and donate $10 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief for Hurricane Harvey victims.

donate to the Salvation Army Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts (this one is a minimum of $25)

donate to the CCUSA relief efforts or text CCUSADISASTER to 71777. this goes towards long term hurricane relief, hosted by Catholic Charities USA- they provide help to everyone, aiming to assist the poor first, and from there, as many people as possible.

if you are in Port Aransas, Corpus Christi, or South Padre Island, you can schedule an appointment with a South Texas Blood & Tissue Center to donate blood for victims of Hurricane Harvey

you can donate to Austin Pets Alive!, whom are transporting pets from various shelters to their shelter for safety and care. they have received over 235 animals since Saturday. they will be caring for these animals through the hurricane!  they are expecting many more pets in the next few days. however, they won’t be able to care for all these pets without the funding!  (if you’re in the area, you can also donate needed items/supplies, volunteer, foster animals, or adopt!)
