can I just say as a brief aside how much I love Hux. He looks like the deranged personification of the most unhinged British foreign policy choices circa 1890. He looks like he should be wearing a pith helmet and screaming about the colonials. He looks like he should be in the jungle trying to locate Kurtz and hating every second of it. He looks like he is Kurtz. He looks like a boy they left behind on the island at the end of Lord of the Flies because he cannibalized Piggy. He looks like he should be wearing jodhpurs and puttees and using his manservant as a human mounting block to get on his camel. He looks like a Rudyard Kipling short story. He looks like he thinks World War I is going to be over before Christmas. He looks like he might inherit a small barony and will immediately evict the tenants. He looks like he engineered an elaborate plot to get another boy expelled from Eton because he snapped him in the ass with a towel in the locker room one time, He looks like murdered a commoner for saying Queen Victoria was fucking John Brown.

I don’t usually just write on here, but I read a fic the other day that was SO GOOD. It was well-written, and the characterizations were on point, and the “Chapters” said “1/3″, so I was super excited for more, and I kudos’d it and bookmarked it, and meant to write a comment, but I was at work, and couldn’t, so I told myself I’d do it later.

And then the author deleted it, and I’m so, SO sad, because it was their first Kylux fic, and I’m really hoping they haven’t given up completely on writing for this fandom. 

thoughiseemtame, your fic “Here’s to You, You Old Wreck” was wonderful, and if, against all odds, you see this, I want you to know that your voice is a welcome addition to this fandom. I was really shocked that there weren’t more kudos or comments, and I wonder if it just randomly slipped through some bizarre crack, or if the majority of the kylux crowd has moved on to Gravebone or Chirrut/Baze or other. But you are GOOD at what you do, and I hope you weren’t put off because the response wasn’t big enough. It was such a good fic.

What are the important rules you live by? Be kind. Don’t hurt other people. It’s all the sort of Christian ethics stuff I thought was bullshit when I was a kid. No, it turns out it’s not bullshit. Tell the truth, be kind, all that corny stuff.
