FAQs Under The Cut!

What’s a ship week?

A ship week is a fan event where for a week we make works about one ship! Think about it like Inktober, you get one different prompt for each day and you make something out of it, but with the same medium, or, in this case, same ship!

Is this only for fanfiction/fanart?

No! You can use whatever medium you desire for the prompts. The most common methods are fanfiction and fanart, but if you want to create a cosplay or some fake social media posts or anything else your creative heart desires, go for it!

Do I have to do both prompts each day?

No! Each day is designed to have two options, one of which is good for fanart as well as fanfic. You CAN choose to do both prompts if you want, or incorporate both prompts into a single work, but it's designed to give some options and variety!

Do I have to participate in the full week?

You can participate in as many or as few days as you'd like! There's no minimum requirement for participation!

Do we have to create each piece during its own day?

Nope! Some people like the challenge of creating something different every day, but you can totally prepare them in advance if you want to. You don’t even have to complete all of the prompts, you can do just the few you like, no pressure!

How do I participate?

Just create whatever you like with the prompts you’re given and post them under the “#Cadina Week” and “#Cadina Week 2025” tags on Tumblr. We will also have an AO3 collection (keep reading for more info on this).

What's this about an AO3 collection?

Once our AO3 account is fully set up, we will be creating a collection for Cadina Week that you can submit your works to. We will be moderating this lightly, just to make sure that it's actually Cadina Week submissions and not spam, but we welcome all who want to participate!

Can I post NSFW?

Yes, please just make sure it is appropriately tagged on Tumblr and/or AO3!

15. Does anyone you know in real life know you write fanfiction?

No, I keep that little factoid to myself🌝 I do have some good friends I’ve met online that have become friends in my real life, though, and they know! Some of my IRLs know I post “short stories” online, and my sister knows I wrote fic at once point. One ex knows I posted for a previous fandom.

16. What do you struggle with most when writing?

I’d say the thing I struggle most with is knowing when and how to summarize. Sometimes you just need to get from point A to point E without lingering at each letter on the way, you know? You can’t flesh out EVERYTHING in a story, but there are certain things that have to at least be addressed, and I sometimes struggle with knowing what to skim through and what to linger on. And, when I figure out what to summarize, I have trouble making that interesting. I also have trouble with setting related details, but I’m trying to get better about those (when it matters).

17. What is something you recently felt proud of in your writing?

I recently worked on a WIP out of order and connected all the pieces, which is something I’ve never done to this scale before! That was really cool for me, since I usually write in a rigid order. I plan to keep writing in a rigid order because I prefer that, but it was a good experience to step out of my comfort zone.

29. How many times do you usually revise your fic/chapter before posting?

When it comes to fic, I always give it at least one full, comprehensive edit—unless I’ve poorly budgeted my time and have to have a fic posted by a certain time for a fic exchange or something like cadinaweek🌝

I tend to make little edits as I go, including leaving myself editing notes for things I’d like to revisit. I do at least one full edit after I’ve figured out where the chapter break will be, where I make any edits I can find and then reread all of the edited portions a few times over. During that time, I’ll also address any editing notes I left myself. If I feel like overachieving or if I end up making a lot of edits, I’ll read the whole thing over again and tinker with it some more. If I’ve read it so many times that I now hate it, I’ll post it immediately, because at that point, no constructive edits will be made lol. If I’m editing a more serious piece of writing (not fic, which I write purely for fun), then I’ll keep making passes until I go through something and find 0 things I want to change. Then I’ll read it over once more, just to be sure!

4. What are some words or phrases you feel like you overuse?

Oh, god, so many 😭 Honestly I've had this moment recently where I've been like... Does all my writing sound exactly the same? And no, it doesn't, but I do want to try and vary some things a bit more in some of my fics 😭

In PG, I've found I have them just cuddling on the couch way too often, which, like, it's soft and important and they've had a lot of very important conversations while holding each other on that couch but like. When half the fic has taken place on the same couch, it's time to make some changes 😭

In SBAU, I fear I might use their uhhh pet names for each other a tad too much, but honestly, that's unlikely to change 💀 i also use the word "whimpers" a fuckton in that fic lmao it's not my fault regina just can't stop herself lmaoooo

I also always worry I use the same dialogue tags too frequently (says, replies, tells x, etc) but that will haunt me forever, probably LOL

11. What makes a fic 'successful' in your opinion?

Oh, SUCH a good one! Frankly, for me, a fic is successful if I have a story I want to tell, and I get to tell it. If I've written the story, that's a success. If people like it and interact with it, fantastic! What a lovely bonus! But it's certainly not the meter for success. I know people can sometimes get wrapped up in the numbers game, especially when it comes to kudos/comments/hits, but at the end of the day, writing should be for you, to tell the story you want to tell, not for the engagement of others. If people like enough to engage with it, incredible! What a lovely bonus to creating art! But it's just not the end-all-be-all to it all, y'know? Anyways, I'll get off my soapbox now lmao

17. What's something you recently felt proud of in your writing?

Honestly, I'm really proud of the story I'm currently working on!!! It's maybe halfway done right now, and I'm excited to get to share it with you all! I don't wanna spoil specifically what I'm proud of in it just yet, but just know I'm proud!!!

23. What's a story you'd love to write but haven't even started yet?

Honestly? I want to write an ABO fic. I don't have a full premise yet, and I am FORCING myself to finish the current fic and MBAU before taking on ANOTHER new fic, so I've got some time. But I have some basic plot points brewing up in the old noggin!

9. How did you get into writing fanfiction?

You’re so foul for asking this question💀💀💀 You KNOW it was the WWII Hunger Games AU when I was a CHILD😭 I only wrote a couple really short chapters of that (by hand at first, mind you) before I, thankfully, put the pen down. I’d say writing Little Mix Pesy fanfic in 2017ish was my real intro to writing fic.

17. What is something you recently felt proud of in your writing?

I recently wrote a full-circle moment for GIL (that I can’t talk about in detail😉) that made me feel very satisfied because I was able to tie things together. You know how it feels to finally be able to connect the dots, so that was really cool!! Once GIL is finished, I’ll be able to really be proud of myself, so I’m looking forward to that.

23. What’s a story you’d love to write but haven’t even started yet?

There are SO many😭 My notes app stays booked and blessed. My google drive remains dry and thirsty lmao. There’s one chronic pain Regina/Cadina series that I’ve sat down to write a few times and I just can’t seem to get where I want. It’s hard to commit to that one ‘cause I sometimes relate a liiiiiiiittle too hard. There’s also a new shadina idea kicking around my brain that I’m ready to eat UP when I finally have the time:) And I have a bunch of OG stuff I’d like to work on too, but as long as the MBGR persists… I’ll be cadina and shadina-ing💖

33. A character you want to protect.

There are a lot of them, but you know I’ve got an extra soft spot for Regina. I think you could argue that she’s the one you need to protect people FROM most of the time, but no one needs more protection from Regina than Regina herself. But also I’m fond of like, the entire MG cast with a couple of glaring exceptions. You know who🌝🌝🌝
