The main part of this project is to design the patterns which are related to me and my culture. As I am from a country called Nepal which is rich in terms of cultural diversity. Culture has been named ‘the way of life for a whole society. Every aspect of clothing life, food, and even professions are socially guided. The culture of Nepal includes the rituals, norms of behaviour, codes of manners, dress, language, and schemes of belief. I did a lot of research into artists who were mostly Nepalese. At first, I tried to look through varieties of patterns from sculptures to clothing and pieces of jewellery. In my culture, people love bright colours but in some cultures, they like dark too. The colours that I have used for my patterns are mostly bright but also a little bit of the mixtures of dark colours. I have done many experiments which turned out excellent. In the end, I finish up with 3 different patterns and an A1 poster.

This project was originally supposed to be a group project but because of my group members personal reasons, at the last minute I had to do it by myself and came up with a new idea. So, we were given a song called summer19 to use for our video and the topic I have chosen is a “city landscape”. That is why I thought to use different colours from dark to bright. And for the video, I just changed the different colour illustrations of buildings according to the speed of the music. This idea was very last minute but I think it turned out pretty well. Also, this shows my potential in handling my work all alone by myself even at the worst time.

This is a small business of jewellery owned by me. The logo is very simple and it says R which is the first letter of my name. I have used neutral colours like beige, brown and other nude colours to stick with the aesthetic vibe as these colours are very much on-trend. Same with the thank card as I have to stick with the theme I have used the same colours as the logo. The card is pretty much handmade as well. My pieces of jewellery are handmade and designed by me. I only use gold colour pieces and by the customer’s needs, I measure the length of the necklace and send them via the post office. For advertisement, I make a video on my phone and upload it in Tiktok. TikTok is very trending nowadays. Many small businesses like mine use these platforms for advertisements.

The Name of the brand is “Kanchi” for ladies clothing and “Kancha” for men’s clothing which is Nepali words. Kanchi is used for girls and women. Also, the word is sometimes used by men to consider the beauty of women or show the affections and Kancha is mostly used for young boys. The Illustrations of the mountains is inspired by the world largest mountain called Mountain Everest located in the Mahalangur Himal, Nepal. The different colours on illustrations describe the seasons ( summer= colourful, fall = nude pastel colours, winter= dark colours). Most of the images and videos are taken indoors because of pandemics and for safety.
