One shot summary: This was a prompt from @stanclub ‘s writing challenge for reaching 2.5K followers! Congrats!

Pairing: Loki x Avenger Reader
Tropes: Enemies to lovers
(Possible proof reading errors)

“I have a proposition for you.”
You gave Loki a cursory glance over your shoulder before returning back to pummelling the punch bag in front of you. You pay him no heed as you start your uppercut circuit, weaving as you go.

"I'm... lactose intolerant,"
This, omg, hahaha Loki! I love you lamo!
Loki doesn't eat ice cream when others are around because it turns him slightly blue. The only people he eats it around are Thor and Nat because Thor will love Loki no matter what and Nat knows about insecurities and would never judge because of that
Thank you so much for this, seriously. I really need to take my mind off things and write a little blurb
Ice Cream - Loki x Reader
Loki hates ice cream.
Why, you've never learned. He won't tell you, and Thor has kept his mouth shut.
Until one day, Tony bursts through the open window of Avengers Tower cradling a large bag of ice cream pints, insisting they've named another flavor after him.
"...Stark Raving Hazelnuts?" Nat reads dubiously, making a face. Tony snatches the pint away.
"Hey, I guess you don't get any."
Nat makes grabby hands, and he hands it back to her, albeit reluctantly.
You peel your own carton open, grabbing two spoons - one for you, and one for your boyfriend.
"...Oh, none for me, thanks."
"It's okay, brother," Thor encourages, polishing off his pint. "They're our friends."
Loki looks around the group, stiffly.
Thor - he's a friend, he supposes. You - you're his closest confidante, his favorite, of course. Nat... Nat's tolerable, trustworthy. He knows she's your best friend.
Tony, Clint, and Bruce, however...
No.
"I'm... lactose intolerant," Loki announces, pushing the carton away with a sniff.
"Loki..."
He shakes his head.
After awhile, Tony and the others clear out, leaving you, Loki, Nat and Thor to lick your spoons (Thor's on his third pint.)
And it's quiet - too quiet, Loki decides. He's made it awkward for everyone.
"I don't eat ice cream - or anything frozen, for that matter - because... because I don't like what it does to me."
A silence. Then-
"Loki," you add, cheerfully, "You already said that. You said you're lactose intolerant."
"Yes, well, that was a lie."
You feign shock.
"What I really am is... much worse."
Loki turns your arm over, pressing a kiss to the inside of your wrist, softly.
"I'm sorry," he utters in advance, knowing it'll be over between you the very moment he sticks the spoon in his mouth.
"Loki, what-"
He does.
And... it happens, as always. He's blue.
He's a monster.
But if you think so, you don't say it.
"That's what you were afraid of?"
"...Yes?"
You shake your head, laughing.
"Loki, you do realize we met when you tried to take over the city I grew up in?"
"Oh. Yes, well... that's true."
"Yeah. I'm hard to get rid of."
Loki wouldn't have it any other way.

“THAT!” Nat said still flabbergasted. “THAT made even my ears steam…Hope you took notes boys!”
Oh Nat! 😂
The scalding kiss…
What makes a kiss hot? Well…here is my version of a hot kiss…
Wordcount: 1356
Just pure hot fluff…may get a bit warm while reading.
—–
„Best kiss my ass!“ Tony huffed and rolled his eyes. He even went as far as throwing Popcorn at the screen. Most of the team had sat down in the big TV room to unwind and watch a movie together. “That was sloppy, lukewarm and not even slightly a turn on.” He continued.
Pepper threw him a look that even in the half dark room made everybody else grin.
“Oh Tony, I think your quick cheek pecks aren´t exactly getting Peppers motor running either!” Nat chirped. Pepper lifted her hand for a high five when Nat walked by to get herself a refill at Tony’s´ bar.
“Oh, come on! Even my pecks are hotter than THAT!” Tony snorted annoyed.
“Why? Because they come from you ?” You asked laughingly and smiled when Tony just nodded.
“The film is still running…” Came the dry comment from Loki but he seemed more interested in the beginning batter.
Tony stood and got himself a drink too, paused the film and looked at Nat, Pepper and yourself.
“Seriously, what does it take for a kiss to be hot?”
He flopped down next to Pepper again.
“I mean I know I get you hot when I do a certain thing with my tong…”
Pepper hit Tony with a pillow and shushed him with a slight blush to her cheeks.
Tony just grinned and looked at you and Nat instead.
“Please enlighten us…” Throwing some snacks into his mouth, he leaned back and lifted an eyebrow.
Loki, watching the scene unfold, leaned back too with a slight amused grin on his face.
Nat sat down between Banners legs and said. “A good kiss makes steam come out of my ears.”
You nodded in agreement. “Everything else needs to disappear for that moment.”
Tony mimicked snoring. “Enough with the philosophical chit chat… Instructions!”
You snorted. “What? You want a manual? Step by step?”
Tony leaned forward, winking at you. “Now we are getting somewhere… So, step 1?!”
“Put your hands on the body?!” Banner weighed in and tried to help.
“Yeah, but where?!” Tony inquired.
“Umm…” Banner took of his glasses and started cleaning them.
“Waist.” Said Nat.
“Hair” said Pepper.
“Uhhh yes, first waist then up..” Said Nat.
Standing from the Sofa to walk to the fridge you felt Loki’s eyes on you for a second and threw in “Neck…” towards Pepper and Nat.
“Oh yes..” Pepper fanned herself.
Tony grinned and winked at his woman. “Noted, now what else?”
“Eye contact…those seconds before the actual kiss.. the air needs to sizzle!” Nat took a sip from her drink. You grabbed a can of soda out of the fridge and closed the door again.
While Nat, Pepper, Tony, Clint and Banner threw in other comments Loki stood from his seat and tilted his head slightly. A focused yet wicked grin started to toy with his lips when he began to walk towards you. As smooth as a jaguar on its prowl, his lean body swayed in certain yet slow steps towards you.
“Eum? Loki?” Tony asked but watched.
Pepper just hit his arm to shut him up.
Still 10 steps away his eyes captured yours and held on. Even if you had tried you could not have taken your gaze away from him. Your breath caught. His smile got deeper. Loki casually rolled up his long-sleeved shirt up to his elbows. Taking in a deep breath as if he wanted to catch your scent, he bit his lip.
Only 2 steps away from you, he reached out to grab the can of soda out of your hand with one hand and grabbed your hip with his other. Not interrupting his captivating stare, he put the can on the countertop of the bar and murmured in his deep voice “You don´t need that now…”

I only have ONE comfort character, and that's Loki.
For me, I think Loki is one of those people who you can emphasize with. I just want to hold him while he cries and lets go of all his hurt, anger, sadness, ect... Plus, he would probably do the same for you. 💞
Post your top 5 comfort characters
saw this @the-fanaddict ‘s!
1. Hiccup
He was me. Back then. And he showed me what love looks like.
2. Toothless
Because Hiccup’s story wouldn’t have been possible without him. Hiccup needed someone to answer to his love - to return it like a mirror - and it was Toothless who did that. Who loved him back. THEM…just…them…
3. Hisirdoux “Douxie” Casperan
He’s someone I’d want to spend my life with. He also showed me what love looks like. Oh, and bravery. And fearlessness.
4. Probably Katara
I’m not much into AtlA at all, but she impressed me a lot. I want her fierce strength. She’s someone you can count on.
5. Flynn Rider
Because his character type is someone I tend to insert in like. Every daydream ever.

Name pronunciation: Arabella: 'R'abella you say it like the r is a voul. Sonadoor (sown-ya-door) if that helps at all lol)
Warnings: Fluf, angst, language, jealousy, some gore (in a dream) (maybe more? idk, so tell me if I missed any)
Word count: 11413 (sorry!)
Italics: Thoughts, telepathic talk, songs, emphisess
Color: Song (blue) dream (green)
Summery: Arabella is taken to Asgard to help a certain God of Mischief. Loki also learns about who she is descended from.
Prologue
Sally
Sally was having the most fun time at the beach. She was with some of her bestest of friends, one of them being Arabella. One of the only people she trusted the most. She and Vienne had just got done with a game of beach volleyball, and were headed to the water's edge to jump off the rock, since it was high tide.
You just had to wait for the right set of waves to come in to jump, so you wouldn’t break your legs. It was fun to let the water sweep you out aways from the rock, only to be brought in after a wave came.
“Great idea Bianca and Ella,” Arabella commented, “This is the best!”
That was when a wave swept Arabella and Ella’s younger sister, Trisha, off the rock into the water where she couldn't get up. Wave after wave came in and swept her off the rock every time she thought she had a grip.
“Trisha!” her sisters yell. Sally was also getting a little worried. Trisha never went out too far in the ocean. And she didn’t handle the strong currents well either.
Without warning Arabella jumped into the water when the next wave came, smashing her sister up against the rock, cutting her hands on the sharp barnacles. Arabella put herself in front of Trisha when the next wave comes, after she can’t get her on the rock in time.
The wave smashes into both of them, making Arabella hold her hands out and she too cuts them on those devils of barnacles, making her cry out in pain. I bend down to reach for them but my long brown hair gets in the way.
Another set comes and pushes the two girls to the side of the rock, like a water roller coaster. Trisha manages to get on her feet, but Arabella can’t. As soon as she thinks she’s got it, seaweed entangles her legs, knocking her back down.
“Ara!” I scream, and jump in after her when she gets swept out.
“Sally!” she yells back. I swim to her and extend my arm. She does the same. Suddenly, she screams as she is pulled back into a crashing wave. It hits me too but when I resurfice, she is gone.
“Arabella?” I call, worried. Where could she have gone? There was no drop off and how could she be swept out that quickly? Something pops up to the surface, interrupting me calling her name again. My heart sinks. I picked up the bracelet she always wears. This was not good. I hear splashing behind me, and turn to see Ella and Bianca.
“Where is she?” Bianca askes. I show them the bracelet. Ella’s face turns the color of the sea foam. Green and white with fear. We start running to the shore, but the waves crashing slows us down. When we reach the beach we don’t stop, no matter how tired we are from fighting against the angry ocean.
“Seaira!” I call out to Arabella’s mom, right when I hear a scream.
Arabella
All I remember was falling. First, a wave hit me before I could grabe Vienne’s hand, and then I was under the frigid waves. Water rushes up my nose, the salt stung my eyes. And then I was being sucked into a colorful vortex thing. And then I was suddenly falling from the sky.
As I fell I saw water beneath me. I knew if I don't tuck into a dive, it would hurt to land on my stomach. Might even kill me. I turned myself into a human pencil and splashed into the water, making sure my feet went first. The lukewarm water wrapped around me and I started to move to the surface. I could tell it was fresh water, because of how easily I moved through it. Which made no sense. I was in the ocean. Wasn’t I? I feel myself being pulled backwards when I reach the surface. I turn and scream. There was a waterfall fifty feet in front of me. I tried to swim towards a rock but the current was too strong and I only tired myself out.
I felt my foot hit something hard and looked behind me to see a rock. I flip around and cling to it for dear life. I squeeze my eyes shut and pray I don’t die. Then I hear a strangely familiar voice. I slowly open my eyes to see someone flying, yes flying, to me with someone dangling from their grasp. That someone drops down into the water and starts swimming towards me. However now he no longer has a shirt on. I could have sworn he had one on a second ago.
He reaches the rock and says, “Grab my hand.”
That’s when I recognize him. The long black hair, high cheekbones, the accent, and those deep blue eyes. This was Loki. The God of Mischief. But however this was not the time to be thinking about that stuff right now. First, I had to not fall off the waterfall. He is grasping to a nearby rock, but I can see his muscles tiring. I slowly reach to his outstretched hand. But one hand is not enough for my weak body to hold on to the rock.
I scream as my arm gives out, and I go over the falling water.
Loki
I look at the girl, scared, tired, and just a hit of interest when she sees me.
“Grab my hand,” I say to her.
Her aura felt different, like something wasn’t quite mortal about her. She hesitates at first but slowly reaches out with her hand to mine. She never has the chance to even brush the tips of my fingers. I see her arm give out, and she screams. I cry out as she goes over the falls. Without hesitation, I jump over after her. I plunge into the water and spot her limp body sinking. Then I see the blood coming from her head wound. She must have hit her head on one of the rocks.
I swim to her and wrap an arm around her waist. I use my legs and free arm to pull us back to the surface.
“Thor!” I yell when our heads break free of the water. He flies over us and I grab his outstretched arm. I hiss through my teeth as the jerking motion nearly dislocates my shoulder, but I hold on. Thor takes us to the rainbow bridge, and sets us in front of Heimdall and Jane. As soon as my foot touches the ground, Jane walks over.
“Here,” she says, “I know what to do.”
I set her down and slump to the ground. I ignored my bare chest, and I doubted I would have the strength to make another one. I checked on what Jane was doing and saw she was listening to the girl's heart beat. Suddenly, she sits up, coughing up the water she swallowed.
Jane sits back and holds the girl up with her arm, Thor at her side ready to help. Heimdall just stood there, as always. I study the girl while she regains her breath. Shoulder length chestnut hair matted and sticky from the blood coming from her head wound. Freckles covering her face and any visible skin, which was limited since she was in a weird type of rubber body suit. And those chocolate eyes with long, lush, dark lashes. I never thought I would see any as captivating as hers. And those big, soft, brown eyes were looking right into mine. I felt something click inside me and felt myself being drawn to the girl, but I ignored it and continued to stare at her.
She too seemed to be examining me. Finally, a smile spread across her face. She looked to Himdell, Thor, Jain, and back to me. There her eyes stayed. They shone like the stars, which made me a bit uncomfortable.
“What’s with the starring?” I ask.
She smiles even bigger and says, “I can’t believe my own two eyes.” I give her a confused look.
“I beg your pardon?” I say to her, Her eyes widen and she starts laughing. She laughs so hard she has to hold her stomach to keep from falling over. “What?” I asked, “What’s so funny?” She catches her breath.
“It’s just like the meme said, you're the God of Politeness!” At the last word she bursts out laughing again. This time, she can not stop from falling over.
“She’s from earth all right,” states Jane.
“Of course I’m from earth. Or as you guys say, Midgard,” the girl says matter of factly, once she has caught her breath from laughing so much. Thor looks puzzled.
“How did you know we call your home planet Midgard?” he asks, and I too now wonder how she knew.
“Because, Thor, a.k.a. God if Thunder, son of Odin, I know all of you.” We stare at her in shock, except Heimdall. How the hell did she know about Thor?
“Ok I’m going to stop you right there,” Jane starts, “I want you to answer my questions one at a time. First off, who am I?”
“Jane Foster, you're an astronomer and you have two best friends, Darcy and Erik.”
“Ok, second question. Who is he?” she points to Heimdall.
“Heimdall, keeper of the Bifrost and has the ability to see others in the known universe.”
“And who is he?” Jain finally points to me. The girl looks me up and down.
“He is Loki, God of Mischief. Thought he was an Asgaurdian, he turned out to be the frost giant prince. And, if I do say so myself, the most handsome person I’ve ever laid eyes on in my entire thirteen years of living.”
All we can do is stare at her. Heimdall does not look the least bit fazed. Feeling really uncomfortable now, I made a new shirt appear on me.
“Well that was… unexpected,” Thor says. “Tell me your name.”
“Arabella.”
“What a lovely name,” Thor bends down, grabs her hand and brings her knuckles, lightly kissing them. Arabella blushes.
“T-thanks.”
Thor then helped her up from the ground and she shook the water out of her ears.
Then she turned to me and said, “This is going to sound really weird, but can I hug you?” I raise my eyebrow.
“How old did you say you were?”
“Thirteen.”
“Why do you want to hug me?”
“Because I give great hugs and I’m a touchy feely person and I need fiscal contact sooner than later,” she says and sticks out her lower lip in a pout.
I roll my eyes and open my arms with exasperation. “Why not,” I say, annoyed at her annoyingness.
She smiles the biggest smile and rushes over to give me her hug. I couldn’t help but melt a bit as her arm enveloped me. I slowly put my arms around her, patting her back.
She hugs me tighter and says, “I can’t believe I’m hugging my crush right now.” She pulls back and beams at me.
“You are attracted to my brother?” Thor asks in disbelief. I too am in too much shock to do anything but stare at her. She smirks and I feel my face flush. I push her away and try to hide my face.
“She did say he was the most handsome person she’s ever laid eyes on in all of her thirteen years of living,” Heimdall explains to my idiot brother.
“Loki,” a teasing voice calls behind me. Definitely Jane. “Why does your face look like a tomato?” I look at her, glaring, to see her smug face. “Do you have feelings for someone you’ve never met?” My eyes widened.
“What! N-no - I mean - I - Ugg! You're making this extremely difficult for me right now.”
Arabella holds up her hand to Jane. Jane high-fives her.
“You two are making me uncomfortable. That’s why-” I never get to finish my sentence. A pair of arms wrap around me again. I sigh as Arabella clings herself to me, pinning my arms to my side.
“You’re cute when you're frustrated.”
“Why do you have to be so clingy?” I ask.
She shrugs and nestles her head against my chest.
Thor starts, “We should think about getting her to the-”
Suddenly your arms squeeze me tighter as your legs give out. I yelp and catch her. I look at her pale face and see her head wound is more serious than it looks.
“We need to get her to the palace,” I say, worry filling my voice. “Now. Thor, fly to mother and father and explain the matter. Take Jane with you.”
When they leave, I use my magic to call on my horse.
When it arrives, Heimdall helps me get Arabella onto the front on the horse and in front of me. She uses her arms to keep her as still as she can so it doesn't hurt as much as we run to my home. I man walks in front of me and my horse doges him, making Arabella groan in pain. I wince at her complaint. I suddenly wish for her to be as safe from harm as possible.
And what was this strange feeling coursing through my body? Care? I had no clue. When we reached the gates I jumped from the animal as carefully as possible before running to the healing center.
As I carried her bridal style, I could feel her grip on me loosening. I ran faster knowing she was fading from loss of blood. I was met with my mother, Thor, and Jane. I push past them and set the weak form on the healing table. I was then led out of the room along with Thor and Jane. My mother stayed to help. All we could do was wait.
As we were waiting, my mother came up to me, with an amazed look on her face.
“You won’t believe what I just found out,” she said to us.
I raise a brow. “Oh really? And what is this news?” I ask.
“Well, there are two things I have to tell you.”
I sit in a chair, crossing my arms. “Go on.”
She does. “Do you want to know why she knew so much about you?” she points to Thor, Jain, and finally me. We all nod.
“Well it turns out that she is from a different dimension. In her universe, we are just fictional characters in books, and what humans call movies.”
I stare at my mother with shock. A different universe? My mother nods, reading my mind.
“That doesn’t tell us why she’s here though,” Jane puts in, and we all nod.
“Once in a few million years, a child from earth is taken and brought here to help in some way. It is very rare that the child is taken from another universe, but it has happened twice in the past,” Frigga explains.
“When did it happen last?” I ask.
“Billions of years ago. And the last child to be brought here was when your father’s father defeated the dark elves. The girl helped him win the war but at a cost. She sacrificed herself to save the king so he could win. What this childs fate is, I can not see.”
“And what of this other news?” Thor asks after we sit in silence.
“Well it is slightly complicated how I know, but then again, I am your mother,” she says to me.
She flashes something through her head so I can read it. What she shows me explains a lot, but I can’t believe it. I now know why she was brought here.
“Brother? Brother are you ok? You just turned white.”
I take a deep breath. “Yes Thor. I am fine. Mother just shared some very important news with me.”
“Can you tell us?” Jane asks impatiently. I nod.
“She was brought here because of me.”
“You’re going to have to be more specific than that. Why is she here because of you?” Jane pushes.
“She is here to bring happiness in my life. On the bridge, well I felt something in me. And as it turns out-” I stop.
Thor walks forward. “Please tell us brother.”
“I found my soulmate,” I say and bury my face in his hands.
There is silence before Thor bursts out one single word.
“WHAT!?”
Arabella
I woke up with a searing headache. I opened my eyes and winced when the sun hit and made my head spin. I groaned and heard a gasp. I turn to see a beautiful woman with long wavy ginger hair. I recognized her as Frigga.
“Do you know who I am?” she asks. I nod. She smiles a kind smile.
“Good thing you’re up,” she starts, “Loki is a mess about you.” I scrunch up my nose.
“Why would he be concerned about me when we just met,” I ask. She chuckles lightly.
“He has found what we call his “soulmate”.”
I arch my eyebrows and widen my eyes. ”He what?”
“It’s quite difficult to explain. Just expect a lot of worry from him, and he might be trying to hide it from you as well.” I nod.
“Let’s go see him then,” I say to her. I move and feel different pieces of clothes on me. I look down to see an ankle length red halter dress with gold lining, as well simple brown leather sandals. I blush.
“Oh don’t worry. I used my magic. No one saw anything I assure you,” Frigga says to me. I sigh.
“And my wetsuit?” I ask.
“It is ok. We have saved it for you.”
I nod once more. She held out her hand to me and I slid off the cot and took it. We walked down a hallway, and as we neared the door, I heard yelling. Loki was yelling about something and I could hear Thor and Jane trying to calm him down. Suddenly, a light bulb went off in my head.
I looked at Frigga and told her my plan. She was to make me invisible to everyone but herself, and come out telling Loki I was still asleep. Then I would scare the living daylights out of him. She was also to use magic in case he lashed out in fear. Frigga smiled at my devious plan. The God of Pranks would finally be pranked.
Frigga muttered words and put her fingertips on my forehead. When she pulled back, I looked at my hands but saw nothing. I smiled.
“You ready?” she asked me.
“Frigga,” I say, “I was born ready.” She nodded. We continue walking to the door and she opens it. Loki stops arguing with his brother and Jane and looks to his mother.
“Is she ok?” he asks. I sneak up to him as quietly as possible.
“She is asleep darling,” Frigga replies to him. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone look so relieved. I decided to be a bit weird in the surprise. I walked up in front of him. He was looking at his mother for sure. I was kind of tall for a thirteen year old, but he was really tall. I stood on my tip-toes. And felt myself being lifted up the slightest bit, so his face was in front of mine. I tried not to breathe.
“Oh thank the gods,” he sighs. I stifle a gasp as his breath hits my face, making me lightheaded. He smelled amazing, but I did my best to push that thought away. I leaned in and brushed my lips with his. His eyes widen and he jumps a foot in the air. Frigga has just enough time to use her magic to pull me away as he slices the air where I was with his dagger. She releases her spell on me and I fall to the floor laughing. Frigga, Thor, and Jane are laughing as well.
“WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!” he yells at me and Frigga.
When I stop laughing I say, “It’s called a kiss dork.”
He just looks at me like I’ve done the impossible.
“You did what?” he asks, shocked, his eyes the size of baseballs.
“I scared you with a light peck on the lips.”
Loki just looks at you with complete shock, his eyes scanning your face for anything. The only thing he would find would be your blushing cheeks.
He suddenly got a mischievous look on his face and said, “You really shouldn’t have done that.”
My eyes widened in fear.
“Loki,” his brother’s voice sounded, warning him not to do anything stupid. I look at Frigga for backup.
She shrugs and says, “He should be able to get back at you. You did scare him after all.”
That’s when Loki starts to walk towards me with a devilish look on his handsome face. Without thinking, I bolt out of the room, searching for a way to escape. I hear his footsteps behind me, but I don’t look back. I see an archway and run through it, landing myself in a garden. I run on and into a nearby wood.
I keep running until I lose all my breath. I grasp a tree for balance and gasp, catching my breath. My head is pounding from all the energy I used up while running. I hear a rustle behind me and freeze. I slowly turn around, only to find nothing. Then I see them. A pair of bright green yellow eyes staring right into my soul. I yelp as a black wolf leaps out at me. Pinning me to the ground, my arms underneath the weight of his massive paws.
I stared into his eyes. Yellow from far away, like the real animal, but up close, his eyes were human. Baby blue eyes stared right back into mine and I felt a click inside me. Loki shifted back into his normal form but his eyes continued to stare into my own.
Without breaking our gaze he sat up, taking me with him. He sat on his knees as did I. We continued to stare into each other's eyes. Something flashed in Loki’s eyes and I gasped. I saw myself, older, with Loki walking next to me hand in hand.
The vision faded from his eyes.
“Loki,” I start.
“I know,” he says back. “I saw it too.”
I looked down, breaking our trance to see his face as red as a tomato. I looked away and felt my own cheeks heat up.
“Arabella look at me,” I hear his melodic voice say. I oblige and regain staring into his soft eyes, filled with so much emotion for me.
“Loki,” I say to him, but he lightly puts a finger to my mouth, silencing my words.
“Arabella, I want you to know that I will always be there for you, no matter what,” he says to me with honesty. He continues. “I care for you. Do you hear me?”
I just stare at him. Then, I slowly nod my head, my shoulder length brown hair swaying at the movement. He smiles slightly. I lean in and hug him, nestling against his chest. He wraps his arms around me and pulls me closer so he’s holding me on his lap. I stop hugging him and just sit in his arms. He leans his head on mine and sighs.
Right at this moment, everything just vanished and it was just me and Loki. here in his arms I had ever felt so safe. This was a moment to keep close to my heart. Loki moved and leaned up against the tree we were sitting next to. I could feel his hand gently playing with my hair, twirling it between his fingers.
I took his free hand and turned it upside down, tracing my fingers on the palm of his hand. As I listened to his heartbeat, the faint wind, and calls of birds, I slowly drifted to sleep.
“Thank you Loki,” I say right before I pass out from exhaustion.
Loki
As I sit here with Arabella in my arms, I have never been so happy. I felt her fingers trace the inside of mine and my heart fluttered. After a second, I hear her voice say, “Thank you Loki.” I wait to see if she has anything else to say but nothing comes from her lips. Then I realized her hand had stopped moving.
I look down and smile. She had fallen asleep in the safety of my arms. Her face looked so peaceful in sleep. I stroked her cheek and she sighs.
I slowly stand with her in my arms, careful not to wake the sleeping child. I place a spell over her to dim any loud noises. I walk with care, so my movement wouldn't wake her. I turn a corner and see Thor, Siff, and the warriors three. I shush Thor when he tries to greet me, and motion to Arabella sleeping in my arms. Thor’s face softens and he nods to me. The others look like they are melting at the sight of me and the girl. I roll my eyes and continue on my way.I ran into Jane, my mother and Odin along the way.
Odin notices Arabella and softly says, “Is this the girl?”
“This is Odin,” my mother says to him. He nods.
Jane walks over and pears at Arabella’s soft face. A smile crosses her face, and she looks up to me with a wink. I sigh and bid them a good rest of their day.
I walk until I reach my room and tell the guard standing at the door to open it. When I am in the room I head to my bed and gently lay her down on the soft mattress and I sit on the bed next to her. She moved the slightest bit and I froze, wondering if she was awakening. She stays sleeping and I sigh a sigh of relief. I studied her face more now that I had a chance to do so more closely.
Hair the color of the bark of a tree, light and dark brown with hints of red. It looked as soft as it felt like too, I think as I remember toying with it earlier. A small nose and ears, with lush lashes on her eyes, and freckles covering every inch of her face. Her hands had slightly long fingers, and her feet were so dainty. Her lips looked soft and full. I could hear her breath escape her mouth as she slept.
I felt my own lips tingle, and reach up to touch then slightly. I recall the small peck on my lips that scared me out of my wits. I remove my fingers from my mouth and look back at her. I smile as she scrunches her nose as she readjusts herself to a different position.
I think for a second before leaning down and kissing her cheek. I look at her face and see her smile just the slightest bit.
I move the hair from her face and whisper in her ear, “Sleep well my darling.” I reach over and pull the blanket over her sleeping form. I take one last look before walking over to the lit fireplace to read my book, and let my soulmate rest.
I smirk to myself. This was a good day.
Arabella
I awake to a different environment than when I fell asleep. I was in a gray room with a cot, which I was laying on. The room also contained a small tin table and chair, as well as an open door that led to a small bathroom. I sit up and I realize I’m in different clothes then I was in before.
I am in a gray jumpsuit with red lining. I also have on white sneakers. I get up and walk around. I stub my toe on the chair leg and I grasped it, the thin shoe not having protected it. I jump around holding my foot.
“Ow, ow, ow,” I say hopping. I trip and lose my balance, screaming as I fall to the door. I put my hands out in time to catch myself. The impact of my hands on the door forced it open with a bang! I grunt as I hit the ground. I sit up and look at my surroundings. I now sit in a long hallway with doors on either side.
I jerk my head at the sound of a groan. I slowly stand up. I listen until I hear a scream and a loud bang. It wasn’t a pained scream though. It was a shout of sorrow. I start to walk in the direction of the yelling. I reach a door and quietly press my ear to it.
Inside I can hear crying, and grunts of pain. What was happening there? I open the door and nearly faint at the sight I see.
The blood is coming from the wound in the body on the floor. But the person on the floor… is my father. I scream and cover my mouth.
“Arabella!” I hear a voice call out to me. A voice I was pained to hear, and oh so familiar. I look up to see my sisters and mother. My mother would not look at me, for she was crying too hard. Trisha, who had called me, her eyes were red and puffy from crying. And Eva? Her face was white as snow. Her eyes wide in terror.
Suddenly I feel hands grasp my arms and pin them behind my back. I scream as I am lifted off the ground and then forced on my knees in my fathers blood. Then I hear a new, but familiar voice.
“Arabella!” the voice called. I realized that Loki was calling you to me.
“Loki!” I called back. The man who had killed my father holds a gun to my head. I grew more terrified.
I hear both the remaining members of my family and Loki scream my name.
“LOKI!” I screamed with a more urgent tone in my voice.
“ARABELLA!” I hear him call again. Then I see him run through the door right as the man pulls the trigger on the gun. The last thing I hear is my family screaming and Loki calling my name. Then all I see is black as my limp body falls to the floor.
My eyes shoot open and I sit up screaming.
“Arabella!” I hear Loki call my name. I hear his footsteps come closer until I feel his tight embrace.
I can no longer hold it in and I sob into his chest, shaking from my nightmare. He moves to sit on the bed and I climb in his lap and grip his shirt so tight my knuckles turn white. The tears keep coming and they don’t stop for a while. Finally they dry up and I catch my breath.
“Arabella love?” Loki takes my chin in his hand to force me to look at him when I won’t. When I see his baby blue eyes I start to cry again, but it’s a light cry. Not like before.
“What was your dream about?”
I know he is a mind reader, so I showed him my dream. As he watches my man pull the trigger, his grip around me tightens and I hear him stop breathing.
“Loki?”
“I’m fine.”
“You don’t sound fine. Also, ninety nine percent of the time when someone says they're fine they're not.”
I hear him sigh. Then he says, “I wish you wouldn’t have had that dream,” he confesses. I snuggle closer to him.
“Loki?”
“Yes love?”
I smile and feel my cheeks heat up at his nickname.
“Can you sleep with me so I don’t have another bad dream?”
I can hear him hesitate. He stays silent for a minute until I hear him say, “Yes. anything for my princess.”
I look at him and smile. He smiles back. He lets go of me and I snuggle back under the blankets. Loki crawls in with me and I curl in a fetal position against his chest and he wraps his arms around me once more. I feel safe again.
I feel his hand playing with my hair, and I sigh. My eyes close and I fall into a dreamless sleep, safe here in Loki’s arms.
Loki
“Do I have to?” she whined. After Thor and I found Arabella singing to herself, and scared her when we revealed ourselves, we had been nagging at her to sing at the feast that was tomorrow.
Arabella had one of the most captivating voices I had ever heard. And all the maids and people of the court that were around her while she was singing agreed.
“Arabella, I have told you multiple times. Yes. you are singing tomorrow night for the feast,” I told her. “And,” I continued, “If the people like it, you are to sing every two or three years at this annual party of Asgard.”
She dramatically flopped onto my bed and groaned.
“But I get scared singing in front of a large crowd. I was already nervous singing in front of my family.” She sits up, crosses her arms, and pouts at me.
I raise my eyebrow and slowly walk towards her.
“Do you really want to try me?” She glares daggers at me.
“Now don’t go tryin-”
I pounce on her before she can finish her sentence. She screams as I tickle her, and soon those screams turn to laughs. I stop attacking her so she can catch her breath.
“What is it that you were going to say?” I ask leaning over her and trapping her underneath me.
“Nothing,” she wheezes out, clearly out of breath from scream laughing.
“Good. we wouldn’t want you to die of laughter right before your big day,” I say back, getting closer to Arabella’s face.
She gives me a quizzical look before saying, “What are you doing?”
I laugh.
“No seriously, what are you doing?” she questions me. I shake my head.
“I am not planning anything love,” I tell her.
I see her blush at the nickname I gave her and I smirk. She slaps my arm.
“Stop it,” she says, carrying out the I as she whines.
I continue to smile and attack her sids again with my hands. She shrieks and writhes beneath me.
“Ok stop, stop!”
I don’t. As I continue I feel something hit my gut and I grunt at the impact. I stop tickling Arabella and step back clutching a hand to my stomach. I start to laugh.
“Oh my god Loki are you ok?” I hear Arabella’s worried voice say.
“Yes love,” I replied. I look to her and see her concerned expression turn to a frown.
She crosses her arms and says, “I told you to stop. And now you know why you can’t tickle me.”
“Ok, fair enough. I got what I deserved because I didn’t listen.”
She lifts her chin just the slightest bit. “Damn right you deserved it.”
“Should you really be saying that? Should a harsh word such as that come out of your pretty little mouth?”
She shrugs.
“I was never allowed to say it.”
“And you're taking advantage of it now?”
She smirks. “Hell yeah.”
I chuckle and hold out my hand to her.
“Come darling. Let us go riding.”
She perks up at the sound of riding. It was her favorite pastime besides drawing, swimming, being out in nature, as well as singing. But this one was at the top of the list. She leaps off the bed and grabs hold of my outstretched hand.
As we walk to the stables, I rub the back of her hand with my thumb. Arabella does a little hop at the motion, making me laugh as well as her.
We had yet to start a romantic relationship. We never even said those three words. All we did was call each other names (some of them not being pleasant) holding hands, cuddling, hugging, and that was pretty much it. We were almost never separated. But one a month, Arabella would spend a week with Jane and my mother. She didn’t tell me why but said it was kind of private.
I respected that and didn’t ask again.
I also had to be patient. How I wanted to press my lips to her soft ones once more. The contact we had that day was so short but exhilarating. As soon as her lips had touched mine I felt a zing run through me. I wished it had been longer.
It was painful to wait until she came of age. Until I would feel her lips on mine once more.
“Loki,” Arabella's voice snaps me out of my trance. She stops and looks like she is going to regret what she wants to say.
I bend down to her height and look in her eyes. “Yes Arabella?”
She bits her lip and looks down, playing with her hands.
“Well, I was, um, wondering if I could, uh…” I take her hands in mine.
“Arabella, whatever it is you wish to tell me, tell me. You can always tell me anything.”
She nods and manages to say what she wants. “Loki, can I have my own horse?”
It takes me a second before smiling at her beautiful face.
“Why of course darling.” Her eyes shoot open. I don’t think I have ever seen her this excited before. Or sound this excited.
“Really? Oh my god I can’t believe this is happening right now. Holy crap. Umm, thank you? No, that’s not enough.”
Before I know what is happening, she throws her arms around me and starts to peper my face (minus my lips) with kisses.
“Thank you so much Loki! You don’t know how long I've wanted this! I love you so so much!”
I am shocked. She said she loves me. When it registers I smile and hug her back. I kiss her cheek and pull her close.
“Anything for you love,” I whisper in her ear. She giggles. I smirk. “You sure do giggle a lot.”
She goes still, and her energy turners guarded, the happy moment now fading. I pull her away to see her looking off in space. Her expression had nothing. Then something flashed across her face. Pain.
“Are you alright? Was it something I said?”
When she says it I barely hear the single word escape her lips. “Giggles.”
“Love?”
“I-” she looks at me before her eyes fill with tears. She pulls away from me and runs.
“Arabella!” I yell at her.
What had I said? What did the word giggles mean to her? I start to run after her. She turns a corner and I pick up my pace so I don’t lose her. When I finally see her, she is disappearing through a door. My mother’s door. She turns to close and sees me standing, watching her.
“I’m sorry,” I hear her voice say in my head, “It’s not your fault.”
I take a step closer and then the door closes.
Arabella
When I see his face I see confusion and hurt. “I’m sorry,” I tell him, “It’s not your fault.” I see him take a step to me and I close the door. I put my head to the door and cry.
“Arabella dear?”
I turn to see Frigga, Jane, and Thor. I am about to leave but Thor stops me.
“Lady Arabella, whatever is the matter? Why are you crying?”
I turn back to see three worried faces. Should I tell them about my past? About what the word giggles signifies? And should I tell Loki? If I told him he might grow angry. And then I might not even have him. I decide to not tell him just yet.
“Can I trust you to not tell Loki?” I ask them, making sure.
They nod and Thor says, “We will not tell a soul. You can trust us.” I nod.
“You might want to sit down for this.” Thor, not already sitting, moves to the nearby chair. I slowly move towards them. Once I am standing before them, I dry my tears and start.
“Well, if you want to know, Loki is not my first lover.”
The reaction of the three is priceless. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Frigga so shocked. Thor nearly falls from his chair.
Jane yells, “WHAT!”
I nod. Suddenly the door bursts open and Loki comes in, looking livid. When I see his face, images of him leaving me run through my head. When he sees this his look soffens. He crosses his arms and looks in my eyes.
“You have a lot of explaining to do.”
“Loki I-” I try to say, but he stops me.
“Love, you don’t have to worry about it. I’m not going to leave you. I just want to know why you were keeping this from me.”
I slowly nod and swallow the tears threatening to spill. He opens his arms and I walk over to him. His arm wraps around me and I just stand there.
“Are you going to tell me what the meaning of the word giggles means?” he says, pulling away and looking in my eyes once more.
“Well,” I start, “as you just heard, you are not my first lover.” He nods, and I continue. “Well, he gave me the nickname of Giggles. I held the name very close to me and used it everywhere. You just saying I giggle a lot reminded me of that, cause it was what he named me after.”
He nods once more.
“And would it bother you if I called you that?”
I smirk. “I like darling and love better. Plus your accent makes it sound better, so.”
He smiles and pulls me into another hug. This time, I hug him back. I hear Jane and Thor aww at us and I laugh.
After dinner, Loki leads me to the stables. I am practically jumping out of my skin. For a long time I have wanted my own horse. And tonight it was finally coming true.
“Are you ready?” he asks in a teasing voice, as I wait for him to open the doors to the stables.
“Oh my god, just open the doors or I’ll do it for you!” I threaten him.
“Impatient are we?”
“Only for the last six years of my life. Please don’t make me suffer any longer.”
Finally, he pushes them open. I am greeted with the smell of hay and spring. I breathe it in. The smell never failed to make me sway with delight, just as it did now.
“Are you ready to pick out your horse?” I nod.
As we walk through the rows of stalls, one horse catches my eye. I turn to see a horse, whose back was only slightly taller than mine. His coat was a chocolate brown while his main and tail were platinum blond. His main had braids all down it’s neck, and it’s tail was barely brushing the ground. The animal also seemed to notice me. I stared into its vibrant purple eyes as it stared into my brown ones.
I walk towards it. It comes up to me and I reach up to stroke it’s muzzle. I hear Loki gasp slightly. I turn to see his gawking at me. I get a confused look on my face.
“What? What’s wrong?” I ask.
“It’s just that she never lets anyone near her except my mother, and she already has a horse.”
I turn back to the beautiful creature. “What is her name?” I ask.
“Her name is Sonador. It means Dreamer.”
I smile at the name. I reach in my small satchel I always carry around with me, and pick a colorful feather from it. I reach up and gently knot it in one of her braids. Sonador nudges me with her nose and I hug her face.
“Sonador,” I say, letting the word roll off my tongue, and smile. “You will be my dreamer.”
The day of the feast was buzzing with excitement. I was wearing a beautiful emerald green halter ankle length dress, and my hair had curled and was littered with gold leaf. To top it off, I wore black sandals. I had also picked my song to sing. Plates upon plates of food were carried out to the terrace, where the feast would be held.
When the people started to arrive, it felt more alive. That was also when the music started to play. I dragged Loki to the dance floor and stepped on his feet so we could dance.
I knew how to dance, but this felt better to me. We danced until Odin called everyone to eat. One dish in particular caught my eye. And nose. I nearly fainted at the smell of my favorite food. Roasted potatoes. Loki caught me sniffing the air and smiled at me.
“And what fine dish do you do this with?” Thor asks as he sits on the other side of me.
“My favorite. Potatoes.” I say dremaly. Thor starts to laugh and I stop and glare at him. “I’m not joking,” I tell him. He stops laughing, but continues to smile.
“I do not doubt that, but the way you admire them is most amusing.”
I cross my arms and look to Loki for back up.
“He is not wrong.”
I slap his arm and he and his brother laugh while I serve myself a good sized portion of the potatoes. I eat two servings before trying something else.
“What are you eating for dessert?” I ask the brothers on either side of me.
“I hope to eat some of the cake pudding,” Thor replies. “It looks most delicious.”
I turn to Loki. “And how ‘bout you?”
He grunts and puts a hand on his mouth. I raise an eyebrow. Just then, Frigga walks by and smacks the back of his head, making me jump.
“Loki!” she scolds as he laughs, “Watch what you think! You're not the only mind reader here.” “What was he thinking?” I ask her. Loki sit’s up again and gives a pleading look to his mother.
“I’m not telling,” she said, and walked away.
I turn to Loki and cross my arms. “What were you thinking?”
“I’m afraid I can’t tell you that.”
I roll my eyes and continue to eat the rest of my dinner. Then I hear him speak up.
“What are you going to eat for dessert?”
I give him a smirk. “More potatoes.” “What is with you and potatoes?”
“I ate some one day and decided that they were my favorite food,” I shrug and he nods.
I get my last serving of potatoes, on the edge of being full. I stopped before I got to that point though, so I could sing without spilling it back up. After a nice conversation, I walk to the back of the terrace to warm my voice. I begin to start the warm up when an awfully familiar voice speaks up behind me.
“Oh look, the prince's little slave.”
I sigh and turn around and see the goddess Sigyn. Wearing a blue sleeveless dress with gold sandals, she saunters towards me. She had been getting on my nerves lately. More than once she whispered in my ear how she would claim Loki sooner than later. I had told her to leave me alone, but she never did. And it didn’t help that she lived in the palace as well. I hadn’t told Loki what she was doing, but he was also having difficulties with her.
I wanted to tell her that Loki and I were soulmates, and that she should find someone else to bug, but I couldn’t. Odin didn’t want a single soul to know about me and Loki being soulmates, Sigyn included.
“What do you want?” I growl at her, “I’m trying to practice right now.”
“For what?” her silky voice says, her red hair swaying as she moves closer to me. “Are you going to clean all the dishes after this is over? Or are you doing something stupid again?”
“Can you just shut up for once?” I tell her and start to walk away, but she grabs my wrist and pulls me close. I try to pull away, but she’s a goddess and she has supernatural strength.
“Know your place, slave,” she hisses in my ear. “I will get what is mine. Just you see.”
I suddenly got the best idea.
“Oh really?” I say cockaly, getting in her face with a smirk of my own. “Wanna bet?”
Loki
I watched as the magical instruments lined up at the back of the stage where Arabella would be singing. She will be on soon. I hear someone walking and turn to see her run past me to the stage as people found their seats. She touched the instruments one by one, starting with the cloth drums, violins, chelos, and the piano, showing them what song she would be singing. The ones that were not picked left the stage and put themselves away in the back.
“Hello love,” I hear a painful voice say behind me. I turn to see Sigyn.
“What do you want?”
“That’s no reason to treat you darling now is it?” she says in that silky voice of hers.
“You. Are. Not. My. Darling,” I growl at her.
She sighs and pouts, crossing her arms. I turn to walk away from her but her words stop me.
“Are you going to tell me why the slave is wearing your colors?”
I freze. I can just feel her smirk. But what she called her made my insides turn to fire. Rage filled my gut. I wanted to kill her right now. But I contained myself. Instead I turned and slowly walked towards her. I could feel her fear, but she didn’t show it. Coward.
“Don’t ever call her that,” I whisper to her.
“And what is she to you? She is nothing but a mere mortal. You of all people should know that.” Sigyn’s words stung. I am about to tell her off when I hear Arabella and the instruments practicing. She is not singing, but telling them in a hushed voice what to do.
“Excuse me,” I say to her, “but I have to go and find my seat.”
I walk away from her but she follows. When I sit in my seat she drapes herself over me. I try to push her off me but she doesn't budge. So there I sit, trapped under my least favorite goddess.
“Um, good evening everyone,” Arabella’s voice says, more projected with the spell My mother had put on her so everyone could hear her singing.
Sigyn scofs. “Pitiful.”
“Tonight I’m going to sing a song I used to listen to for hours back home. It’s one of my favorites. It’s called ‘Skin’ by a singer on earth called Sabrina Carpenter.” I see her scanning the crowd for me. When she sees Sigyn draped over me, anger flashes her face, but only for a second.
“This is for someone in the audience. I do hope they get the message I am about to send them.”
She signals the instruments to start. And after a second, she starts to sing a completely different song than what she practiced.
Maybe we could've been friends
If I met you in another life
Maybe then we could pretend
There's no gravity in the words we write
Maybe you didn't mean it
Maybe blonde was the only rhyme
The only rhyme
Want my heart to be breaking, breaking, no
I'm happy and you hate it, hate it, oh
And I'm not asking you to let it go
But you been telling your side
So I'll be telling mine, oh
She looks directly at Sigyn when she sings this, and I can just feel the rage fuming inside the goddess. What was Arabella getting at?
You can try
To get under my, under my, under my skin
While he's on mine
Yeah, all on my, all on my, all on my skin
I wish you knew that even you
Can't get under my skin
If I don't let you in
Images flash through Sigyn’s head, of her trying to convince I was her and not Arabella’s. I finally knew what she was doing.
You're telling it how you see it
Like truth is whatever you decide
Some people will believe it
And some will read in between the lines
You're putting me in the spotlight
But I've been under it all my life, said, all my life
Arabella smirked at Sigyn and her fitsts clenched.
Want my heart to be breaking, breaking, no
I'm happy and you hate it, hate it, oh
And I'm not asking you to let it go
But you been telling your side
So I'll be telling mine (mine)
At the high note, Arabella’s voice seemed to change just the slightest bit, and she started to emit a glow around her. No one but my mother, Sigyn, and I seemed to notice. Strange.
You can try
To get under my, under my, under my skin
While he's on mine
Yeah, all on my, all on my, all on my skin
I wish you knew that even you
Can't get under my skin
If I don't let you in-oh
You can try
To get under my, under my, under my skin
While he's on mine
Yeah, all on my, all on my, all on my skin
I wish you knew that even you
Can't get under my skin
If I don't let you in-oh
Sigyn had been trying to get Arabella to lose her temper and if she had, Sigyn would have won. But now, the goddess looked shocked and even moved off of me, just because of what a small girl was doing. Even Arabella looked surprised at what she was achieving. The glow around her grew stronger and stronger after every word she sang.
I just hope that one day
We both can laugh about it
When it's not in our face
Won't have to dance around it
Don't drive yourself insane
It won't always be this way
You can try
To get under my, under my, under my skin
While he's on mine
Yeah, all on my, all on my, all on my skin
I wish you knew that even you
Can't get under my skin
If I don't let you in
When she finished the song, the whole crowd jumped up and screamed at the top of their lungs, giving her applause. Thor and his friends made fools of themselves, shouting things to her. Her laugh was priceless to me. I pushed past a very mad Sigyn and ran to her. I picked her up and spun her around, laughing as she squealed. I hear Sigyn think hateful things to her but I ignore them.
I put Arabella down and held her arm up. The crowd cheers louder, and I see Sigyn leave the terrace. Arabella had won the game she was playing with the goddess. But what I didn’t hear thinking was on how she was getting revenge.
Arabella
After the feast and celebrating my win on defeating Sigyn, Loki carried me in his arms to our room. After changing me into my nightgown with his magic, he sets me down on the couch in front of him so he can brush and braid my hair for bed.
As we sat in silence, I noticed Loki was slightly on edge.
“You did wonderful out there love,” he tells me.
“Thanks,” I say, sitting further back into his arms, but only slightly so he can still braid my hair. After we sit while
Loki finishes braiding my hair, he hums a tune that calms me down from the excitement of the feast. When he finishes I sit back entirely and close my eyes to the sound of his humming. He hums for a little longer before stopping.
“You ok Loki?” I ask.
“Yes love.”
More silence.
“Loki, do you have to ask me something?”
He hesitates before he says, “I was just thinking about trying something.”
I shrug. “Why not,” I say to him.
I feel him move and then his breath is up against my neck. I stiffen at the warm feeling of him breathing on me.
“I want your consent before I do anything,” he says.
I hesitate before nodding. I feel his lips gently press to my neck and gasp slightly at the zing of pleasure run through me. He stays there for a second before removing his mouth from my neck. I suddenly realize he is shaking ever so slightly. Then I realized he was holding himself back from going too far.
He sighs and pulls away entirely. I turn back and look in his eyes. Longing. That was what I saw. Now I know how much he is holding back on himself. Frigga had told me the older you are when you find your soulmate the more likely you are to do other things. I now know how much trouble Loki is going through to hold himself back.
I lean forward and hug him, burying my face in his neck. He stiffens and I pull away.
Looking back in his eyes he says, “We should probably get you in bed.” He walks to the bed, leaving me on the couch as he turns it down.
“Loki,” I called to him.
He looks at me and says, “Yes my darling?”
“I’m- I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable. I wasn’t trying to, and if I did I’m sorry.”
He sighs and lightly smiles at me, he walks over, picks me up, and carries me to the bed.
“You did nothing wrong, my love,” he tells me.
He leans down and kisses my crown.
“Sleep tight love,” he tells me as he pulls the covers up over my shoulders.
I sigh and close my eyes, listening to his footsteps walk back to the couch to read. Soon, sleep pulls me under and I dream good dreams.
I wake to a strange noise coming from outside my room. I slowly open and see Loki sleeping, looking so peaceful. I smile and snuggle closer to his chest, giving me a comfort only he could give me. I hear his steady heartbeat and close my eyes again. I am about to drift back to sleep when I hear the noise again.
I decided to investigate. I slowly slip from the bed, careful not to wake my Loki.
I quietly walk to the door and open it. I look back to the sleeping form on the bed before slipping out of the room. I close the door and turn to face the hall, only to be greeted with nothing. I walk away from the door and I feel arms wrap around me in an aggressive way. I am about to scream when another hand clamps over my mouth. I look up to see a smirking Sigyn.
I struggled against the man who was holding me, but he held me tighter, making me see stars.
“How lucky am I?” Sigyn says, “Just the person I was looking for.”
When she removes her hand, a muzzle is in my mouth, making me mute for the time being. The man lifts me off the ground and I swing my legs around, hoping to come free. I feel his arms squeeze and I get the wind knocked out of me. He drops me to the ground with a thud. I wince on impact. He bends down and puts my hand behind me back, restraints appearing on my wrists.
“Take her away,” Sigyn says to the guard, “You know where to put her.”
As we walk away, I see the goddess step into Loki’s room. I struggle more and then I see black.
Loki
I wake to the morning sun against my skin, but don’t open my eyes, wanting to savor this moment in bed. Warm, comfortable, safe, and with Arabella. I feel her snuggle against me and put my arms around her.
I hear her giggle, but her voice sounds different. I frown and open my eyes and see Sigyn’s golden eyes staring back. My eyes widen as she smiles. Then she leans forward and places a kiss on my mouth. When I gasp at her sudden movement, she takes advantage and pushes her tongue into my mouth. All I feel is hunger and desire, not love. I growl and push her away and get up.
“Something wrong love?” she asks me. I turn and give her my earth glare. I rush up to her and pull her from my bed. She looks terrified. I slam her up against the wall and she yells in pain.
“WHERE IS SHE!” I yell in her face. She is shaking in fear.
“I don’t know,” I can just smell the lie.
I slam her into the wall again and she gasps.
“DON’T LIE TO ME!”
At this point, I can just feel Sigyn losing control of herself. I was doing this to her. And it felt good.
“She- she’s on the planet Sakar. I promise you nothing else happened to her. Loki, I swear on my life.”
I get right up in her face and she shudders.
“If I find out she was hurt, I will keep that promise,” I threaten.
She gives a quick nod. I let go of her and she falls to the floor, shaking.
“Get out. Before I change my mind.”
She doesn’t move and I lose it.
“I SAID GET OUT!”
She jumps to her feet and runs out the door as fast as she can. After she disappears behind the door, I get to the task at hand. I close my eyes and focus to pinpoint exactly where Arabella was on Sakar. It was the biggest city and it would be hard to find her without my powers. I see a pub and hear singing coming from the inside. She was there.
A young girl was not safe in a bar filled with drunk people. Especially people from Sakar. She was in danger. And she was hurt, Sigyn would pay. I would make sure of it. I run out the door to my mother’s room to tell her what happened. I am greeted by Thor, who notices the look on my face.
“Brother? Who has made you so mad? I can practically see the rage coming off you.”
I tell both Thor and my mother about what happened. Waking up with Sigyn in my bed, and her confessing about kidnapping her and sending her to a pub on Sakar. My mother suddenly looks very concerned. Thor senses her concern and turns to her.
“Mother?” he says.
“Loki, there is something you need to know about Arabella.”
“And what is that?” I snap at her, my patience growing thin.
“I think she is related to sirens.”
I feel stunned. Then it all makes sense. A siren would only reveal her true powers in song, luring unsuspecting men, only to kill them. That would explain the glowing aura around her. But then something else occurred to me. Sirens only emitted their aura when they were around their one true love, the one man they would never even think about putting a blade to their throat.
“Oh no…” I hear Thor say. I snap out of my trance and look at him.
“What? Tell me please Thor.”
“If Arabella is on Sakar, and she sings, the men there will become attracted to her. She will become irresistible to them.”
I gasp and grab Thor.
“We must go at once.”
“I agree with Loki,” Frigga spok up. “You will leave now.” and with a wave of her hand, she teleported Thor and I to the outside of the bar on Sakar.
I heard music coming from the pub as well as cheers and Thor looked at me. I did the same, the same look of worry on our faces as we heard a familiar voice singing from the inside of the building. We walk inside. I hear an upbeat song playing and Arabella singing the lyrics to it. She held a device in her hand, making her voice sound like it was coming from all around the room.
She looked different in her black leather pants and shirt. She looked older. She sounded different too.
But you make me wanna act like a girl
Paint my nails and wear perfume for you
Make me so nervous that I just can't hold your hand
You make me glow
But I cover up, won't let it show
So I'm putting my defenses up
'Cause I don't wanna fall in love
If I ever did that, I think I'd have a heart attack
I think I'd have a heart attack
I think I'd have a heart attack
Arabella looked like she was enjoying herself. A lot. Then she started to give off her aura again and this time, Thor saw it. I felt him tense as her power was drawing him to her.
The feelings got lost in my lungs
They're burning; I'd rather be numb
And there's no one else to blame
So scared, I take off, and I run
I'm flying too close to the sun
And I burst into fla-fla-flames
Cheers escape a couple people but they soon die down.
You make me glow
But I cover up, won't let it show
So I'm putting my defenses up
'Cause I don't wanna fall in love
If I ever did that, I think I'd have a heart attack
When she hits the high note on the line in the song literally everyone in the room goes silent. She drops to her knees and looks so involved in the song. I can feel her puting every ounce of herself into her voice. I gasp a little when I feel myself walking towards her. Her true colors were showing.
I think I'd have a heart attack (heart attack)
I think I'd have a heart attack-tack
I think I'd have a heart attack (oh, I think I'd have a heart attack)
I think I'd have a heart attack
Everyone in the building burst into applause and Arabella smiled and laughed. She was completely unaware of the effect she had on these people. I see her eyes scanning the room and then her eyes land on mine. She gasps and jumps off the stage running to me.
“Loki!”
“Arabella!” I called her and run to her as well.
We meet half way and embrace each other in a tight hug.
“Loki, you came for me!” I hear her say. I pull back and look at her eyes.
“Of could love. Why would I not?” I bend down and kiss her cheek
She shrugs. “I don’t even care right now. I just hope you scared the crap out of Sigyn.”
“I did love. I don’t think she’ll do anything to us again.”
Arabella just stands on her tip-toes and kisses my nose, making me blush. I hear her fake gasp.
“Loki? The God of Mischief, is blushing? I don’t believe my eyes!”
I laugh and pull her back into a hug.
“Arabella, I need to tell you something dear.”
She pulled away and smiled. “Anything my prince.”
I smile at her nickname and she giggles.
“Darling, I don’t know how you are going to take this, but you are related to sirens.”
At first it doesn’t register. Then a look of shock, then amazement, then pure excitement.
“Really? Oh my god, wow! That’s so cool! Sorry, I’m really excited right now. Holy shit.”
“Arabella, language please,” I scolded her tongue.
“Oh please Loki. I heard you screaming the F word to Thor the other day. I think I’m fine.”
I laugh and ruffle her hair.
“I missed your annoyingness. Now, let’s go home.”
