summer before freshman year

jaemin's room is messy. he has polaroids scattered along his floor with a pile of clean clothes sitting unfolded at the edge of his bed. the two of you are sitting on the floor, face-to-face, only inches apart from each other. you chew on your bottom lip out of nervousness--knowing it'll only make your situation worse--if that were possible.

"come on, y/n, do you really want to go out in the world with no experience? no practice?" his tone is calm--a little teasing but reassuring nonetheless. jaemin was always good at this--persuading you to do things you would've never considered alone. "it won't be weird, i promise." jaemin leans his face closer to yours, arching his back so that his chest hovers above his crossed legs.

it's no secret that you and jaemin were close. having a friendship that blossomed from your teenage years into your adult years usually warrants a relationship that intimate. the two of you spent weeks at each other's homes. celebrated holidays together with both families--hell--you were invited to family vacations within months of the friendship. you never thought about him as more than a friend--more than family--but here you were. staring into jaemin's brown eyes, searching for a hint of doubt.

you can smell jaemin's deodorant. you can see his chest from the way the collar of his shirt hangs off his neck. there's no denying his attractiveness--no denying the way that your body naturally wants to lean into his as you move your gaze down from his eyes to his lips.

you meet him halfway, brushing his bottom lip with your own first.

present day

"hey, i think someone's calling you." jaemin's voice startles you. he brings you back to the present--where everyone is ignoring the movie jisung picked out for the night to laugh at something renjun said. "sorry, i didn't mean to scare you." he offers a side smile, handing you your phone--sungchan's contact name making your heart drop.

donghyuck's leg won't stop shaking.

he sits with the weight of your confession still fresh on his mind, wanting nothing more than to share his inner turmoil with mark. he can't help but wonder how you must've felt the moment you realized your feelings for jaemin. he couldn't phantom the idea of being in love with anyone besides mark--but he didn't judge you for it. he knew you. he knew you would never intentionally hurt anyone if you could help it. he knew that you were too considerate of everyone else's feelings to pursue your own.

yet still, he can't stop himself from stealing glances towards you and jaemin. he can't stop himself from wondering how the group was so oblivious to your longing stares and lingering touches. he can't stop himself from noticing the way jaemin seems to keep his eyes on you--watching to see if you're the first to laugh in the group. he can't help but wonder if somehow jaemin knows. if he knows his feelings for you were so transparent to everyone but you.

donghyuck counts back the amount of times he's seen your interactions with jaemin. he counts back how many people have questioned your closeness--your relationship--to each other. it takes him back to the same question: how were they all so oblivious to this?

"hey?" mark's hand find its way to donghyuck's thigh as he squeezes his way between the armchair of the couch and donghyuck's body. this is all it takes for donghyuck's mind to default to nothingness. he forgets the stream of questions and worries once he sees mark's smile, his face softening with the comfort of the other man's presence.

063 Because Dreaming Costs Money, My Dear

donghyuck gets the hint to call his driver right away, gathering his belongings from the table--along with your hand. you don't feel him dragging you with him--nor do you hear the chorus of goodbyes that come from behind the counter of the cafe. you only come to your senses once you've stepped outside, catching the sun in your (e/c) eyes.

it's setting--peaking behind peach colored clouds, shining as bright as if it were noon.

you take a moment to take in the scenery. diverting your eyes from the sky to the sidewalk where the trees cast shadows on the concrete. donghyuck's hand grows clammy as you force him to stand next to you, ignoring the looks you get from blocking the entrance to the cafe. ignoring the driver that sits in the company car, waiting patiently.

you can sense donghyuck's confusion--it buzzes off of him as his curiosity gets the better of him. but you don't let him speak--you beat him to the punch.

"i think i'm in love with jaemin." donghyuck loosens his grip on your hand, his body limp with the sudden confession. he can no longer hear the voices on the street that whisper his stage name. only your words echo in his mind when he drags you towards the back of the car, almost dropping his coffee. "say something, hyuck."

"how long have you known?"

"does it matter?" donghyuck furrows his eyebrows at you for a second before relaxing his face. he senses your nerves. this wasn't an easy thing to say to yourself--let alone one of your best friends. he lets out a sigh, making eye contact with the driver through the rear-view mirror, wordlessly telling him to drive. "i came to the conclusion last night. i think it's why i've been feeling like that towards sungchan's friendship with shotaro. i'm projecting--and i've been weird with jaehyun. this jealousy thing really isn't for the weak."

"oh, y/n." for the first time today, donghyuck is speechless. he looks for words to comfort you but only a question repeats in his mind. "what are you going to do with sungchan?"

although jung jaehyun is nearing ten years into being a solo artist, his fans can count on one hand what they know regarding his personal life. he doesn't mean to keep his life private, yet he doesn't find it necessary to publicize his every move.

this boundary he keeps to separate his idol image and personal life has led fans to describe him as cool. they've decided that a handsome man like jaehyun was stoic. good at keeping his emotions in check, never reacting to anything on camera. never making a funny face or laughing so hard his face flushes. the only emotions he allowed himself to show were on stage--holding the stand of a microphone while singing his heart out.

off-duty jaehyun is different.

jaehyun is the textbook movie boyfriend. clingy--nerdy--cute--and absolutely in love with you. holding your hand whenever you were within an arms reach--holding doors open for you--pulling your chair out on dates--resting his head on your shoulder when he got too tired from being out with friends. he is never not wearing a smile when he's with you.

"what are you thinking so hard about?" jaehyun finds his way onto your lap with ease. laying his head on top of your thighs so his hair fans out--leaving the remainder of his body to rest on the empty couch cushions. his sudden presence catches you off-guard but you don't take long to put your phone down--choosing instead to occupy your fingers with his thick hair.

"you." jaehyun's bareface does nothing to hide the blush that spreads across his face. he doesn't expect such a straightforward answer from you--especially not as you hold the eye contact with him as he stares up at you. he brings his hands up to cover his face but you stop him, pulling your hands away from his hair to grab his wrists. "you're so different with me than you are with your fans, i was just thinking about how funny it is to see you switch up the moment you get off-stage. you're not as cool as you think you are. i don't know how you have girlfriend stans--you don't give them anything."

jaehyun groans, unable to stop the dimples from forming on his cheeks. you let go of his wrists, reaching to cup his face instead. his skin is soft, cheeks filling your palms up immediately.

"i only want you to see that side of me. the only reason i'm in the industry is for the music--i don't need delusional fans." he pauses, a mischievous glint in his eye, "i don't want them to make you jealous or anything." you pinch his cheek in retaliation, pursing your lips as a response. "i should start letting them hold my face like this, huh?"

even as a joke, you can't stay mad at jaehyun for longer than a second. not as he closes his eyes while he laughs, the indentations next to his nose making their appearance. he makes a kissy face up at you, admiring the affect his teasing had on you.

061 I Want You

the clock above the television reads half past three in the afternoon. you turn your body the other way, shielding your eyes from the sun that peaks through the blinds. you're wrapped in a blanket you don't remember grabbing--with your legs underneath the coffee table that sits in the middle of the living room.

your body aches in a way you didn't think was possible, but you'd redo the night all over again just to spend time with your friends. friends who were all gone for the day except for one--donghyuck. half of his body rests on the couch--the other half barely hanging on to the leather material. he's reaching towards you with his leg and his arm unconsciously, his body accustomed to having someone sleep beside him.

you pull the blanket off of your body, stretching your arms out as far as you could reach as you pull yourself up. there are still traces of your friends throughout the living room. jisung's jacket thrown across the arm of the loveseat--mark's half-eaten snacks adorning the table--strands of jaemin's blonde hair gleaming due to the bright sun. you stare at the empty loveseat, remembering how you and jaemin sat thigh to thigh together while catching up. using the movie just as background noise to your loud voices and boisterous laughs.

guilt consumes you. the memory of last night's realizations settling in.

you pulls your knees to your chest, hugging your legs as you stare off into your home. being in love was supposed to be easy. it wasn't meant to be this--realizing you were in love with your best friend months into a relationship with someone else.

"y/n." donghyuck's voice is groggy--it pulls you away from your spiraling thoughts. he kicks you playfully, groaning while he stretches the rest of his body. "what time is it?"

"it's three thirty. wanna grab a bite?"

ok sorry if this is a weird ask but do u have any tips on losing weight 😭

not a weird ask at all!!!!!

honestly i'm no expert at weight loss but during like this... "journey" i've done a lot of research. the best way to start is by moving. literally like just start walking/doing some sort of cardio if you're not ready for the gym. but weight lifting is also an awesome way to start too and it'll start the body recomp phase

i personally don't diet but i do watch what i eat and i make substitutions like sugar free sodas and energy drinks. i also just started cooking at home a lot instead of going out to eat (fast food) but eating out is okay!!! you can't deprive yourself of feel-good foods otherwise you'll fall back into bad habits but being mindful of these things is good. you can always find low-cal meals anywhere you go. being in a calorie-deficit is also a sure way to lose weight

also!!!!! non scale victories!!! don't rely solely on the number when you weigh yourself. there are other ways to tell that you are losing weight (making progress). i first noticed my hands/veins

jaemin's voice is muffled. his words go in one ear and out the other as he holds you in his embrace. he tightens his grip on you with his biceps, scared of letting go in fear of losing you again. but his words don't register in your mind. no--you're stuck with the weight of your realization and it's all you can think about.

"i just want to say again, y/n/n, i'm so sorry for prioritizing my romantic relationship over our friendship. i should've found balance before projecting it on you. i want the best for you, and i'm so happy you have sungchan."

"y/n?" he pulls his body away from you, leaving his hands dangerously close to your waist. your head slips off of his shoulder slowly, every bit of you refusing to let go. "hey, did you hear me?"
