Redefinition
Redefinition in the S.A.M.R model is about how technology allows you to do things within the classroom that would not have been possible before technology, redefinition of classroom activities should not be done every lesson and be well balance between traditional methods of teaching.
Using this in the classroom encourages higher order thinking and is more engaging for the students, in a textiles class the teacher could use Nearpod (https://nearpod.com/) to create a presentation on a selected designer and the students can interact and respond to a questionnaire about the presentation. This gives the teacher control over what the students see and it means that each student can work at their own pace as they each would have access to the presentation on their own computers.
Another way redefinition could be used in the class room is through Google Docs (https://www.google.com/docs/about/) , in a textiles class you could get the students to do an assignment that involves evaluating fashion trends in the country and they could exchange their document with a student from another country and they could use Google Docs to share and communicate their different perspectives on fashion.
Technology can help you get creative and innovative with methods of teaching and this leads to be a richer learning environment for the students and it also encourages them to extend their technological skills.

Modification
Modification is moving into transforming the task by including ICT based tools as the core of the assignment opposed to just using technology tools that act as an aids the assessment task.
Ways modification can be applied to the classroom could be through the use of blogs as an assessment task, the students are still using their intellectual skills required in an assessment task however the assessment has now become relevant to the students because their assignments will actually be available on the web for people to see.
The use of collaborative tools such as google docs can be very useful when using group assignments within the classroom. In food technology or textiles classes students need to do testing and experimenting as part of their assignments so using google docs will make it easier for the students to share their results and add comments to each other鈥檚 sections, making group work convenient and more effective as google docs keeps a history of who has contributed to the document. The students will all have the one document opposed to having to do one individually and it will all be done online.

Augmentation
The Augmentation is still about enhancing traditional techniques of learning however it involves thinking outside the box and using technology to make the task more efficient.
For Example, in Industrial technology students have to do WHS and this is usually done on paper and involves short answer questions however you could set up an online quiz that students can do on their computers or on the computers in the school. The quiz could set up so that it instantly marked so the student know if their answer is correct or not and it can also show what the correct answer is, the quiz would have to be done until it is 100% correct.
Group work is an effective tool to use in classroom as it encourages student centered learning and by including technology such as Wix (https://www.wix.com/) it is not only helping the students to advance their skills but it also encourages them as their websites will be shared for the rest of the world. Getting the students to pick a specific food and display different techniques and ways the food is presented e.g. oranges can be used in sweet or savory, there has to be a written description, picture and video included into the website. The website offers a more hands on approach that makes learning more engaging for the students.
Another example of augmentation that could be used in Textiles is the use of video and sound within a power point presentation. In textile and many other practical subjects in high school usually are expected to provide an in-depth list describing how to make the garment or project and this is usually done by typing up the steps and numbering them. Using Google slides (
https://www.google.com/slides/about/
) you can use a slideshow that shows different stages of the garment and you can insert a video and or sound using Voice thread(https://voicethread.com/) and incorporate the media into the power point therefore explaining the steps you have made opposed to just writing steps. This process could be filmed in class while the information is still fresh in the student鈥檚 mind which means less time used at home catching up.

Substitution
Substitution literally means to substitute a tool without changing the function of that tool, by enhancing tools used in the classroom it helps the students to be engaged and find their learning relevant.
In a textiles class a lot of time is used up by demonstrating skills and techniques to the students as it is a practical subject. Incorporating technology into this scenario would be very practical and an effective tool, instead of having one teacher up the front showing the students how to sew on a button for example you could have each student go on to YouTube and watch the following clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fu3F8GSK8DQ .By introducing an individual tutorial for the students it means they are able to work at their own pace, if they needed to take the project home and work on it they could access YouTube at home and it leaves more time for the teacher to help one on one with the students.
In Wood work and design students are required to do technical drawings and have precise measurements which is done using pen, paper and rulers however there is now programs such as CAD (Computer-Aided Design) (https://www.autodesk.com/education/free-software/autocad) to make that process easier. For example, if the students were to make a table they could use the CAD program to draw up their design and make sure the measurements were correct before starting on the cutting of the wood process. They do not have to use paper as the computer program means that all aspects of their design portfolio could be done electronically. 聽
It is becoming more common for assessments to be handed in electronically and for TAS subjects that used to be difficult as there is a lot of sketching and experimenting that is required however you can now use apps that help make everything electronically. For example, you can you the app Sketchbook by Autodesk (https://www.sketchbook.com/?locale=en) on the iPad to sketch and make notes in their design process stage.
The world is defiantly changing and I think that it is important to change with it and one very important way to do that is by incorporating technology into the classroom whenever the opportunity is there as the classroom is filled with technology minded students. 聽

About S.A.M.R
The S.A.M.R model was created by Rueben Puentedura (http://www.hippasus.com/rrpweblog/archives/2014/06/29/LearningTechnologySAMRModel.pdf) and this model was designed to help educators incorporate modern technology in teaching and learning. Now a day the students in the classroom in secondary school are 21 century learners, the way in which students learn is changing therefore change needs to happen with teaching in a way that is modern and relevant
