My debut novel is available for preorders!
Tumblr media
Heya! My debut novel comes out on April 9th and is now available for preorders! (in french only)
Summary : In a contemporary world where psychic powers are a thing of fiction, Florence can see the future from her own viewpoint. When her father dies of an alleged suicide, she knows thanks to her visions that he’s been murdered, but is unable to prove it. Forced to move in with her estranged mother’s new family, she takes refuge in her investigation and digs deeper and deeper into her father’s secrets. In parallel, teenagers keep disappearing, each one seemingly having psychic powers. Florence is forced to confront her fear of others to find the help of the remaining Espers before someone captures them all.
If you speak french and are in the market for a new YA mystery/contemporary sci-fi novel, or if you don’t necessarily speak french but nonetheless want to support my writing, you can order it here :

obsessed with the fact that howl movingcastle, like, is the ideal portal fantasy protagonist. he's a welsh rugby-playing grad student who enters a magical world where he discovers he's a wildly powerful wizard. there's an evil witch out to get him and the king needs his help and there's a curse catching up with him. he has a magical creature sidekick and an orphan apprentice and a mentor who gets killed by the evil witch halfway through and a love interest under a terrible curse. the story is BEGGING for him to be the main character. and he's just like. no <3.

Best Writing Advice I’ve Ever Received
1. “You can’t edit a blank page.”
This advice hit me like a ton of bricks when I first heard it. It’s so simple, yet so powerful. Writing something—even if it’s not perfect—is better than writing nothing at all. The idea is to get the words out, even if they’re messy, and then fix them later. There’s always room to improve, but the hardest part is starting. So, don’t wait for perfection. Just write.
2. “Show, don’t tell—except when you should tell.”
It’s one of the classic writing rules, and yet, I found this piece of advice to be both a game-changer and a huge relief. So often, we get stuck on the idea that “showing” is the ultimate goal. But sometimes, telling is just as effective. It’s about knowing when to lean into subtlety and when to give the reader exactly what they need upfront.
3. “Write the book you want to read.”
This was one of the most liberating pieces of advice I’ve ever received. So many times, we get caught up in writing what we think people will want to read, or what we think is “marketable.” But when you focus on writing a story you genuinely want to read—one that excites and moves you—everything else falls into place.
4. “Don’t compare your first draft to someone else’s final draft.”
This one is a tough one to swallow, especially in the age of social media where we’re constantly exposed to the polished, perfect versions of other people’s work. It’s easy to feel like youre falling behind when you compare your rough drafts to someone else’s masterpiece. But every writer starts somewhere, and your first draft is just that—a draft.
5. “Make your characters want something, even if it’s just a glass of water.”
This advice came from a workshop, and it’s one that I’ve come back to time and time again. It’s a reminder that characters need motivation—whether it’s a big goal like saving the world, or something small and personal, like finding a glass of water in the desert. A character without desire is a character that feels flat and uninteresting.
6. “The best way to improve your writing is to read more than you write.”
This advice took me a while to fully understand, but it makes perfect sense. Reading other authors’ work, especially those whose writing you admire, teaches you things that can’t be learned through theory or workshops alone. You’ll pick up on pacing, voice, structure, and what makes a story truly captivating—all while expanding your understanding of storytelling.
7. “Your first draft is just you telling yourself the story.”
This was another gem of wisdom that I didn’t fully grasp at first. It’s easy to fall into the trap of wanting your first draft to be perfect, but it’s not meant to be. The first draft is for you—to explore the plot, the characters, the world. It’s your chance to get everything down and see where it leads, without worrying about perfection.
8. “Write with the door closed, rewrite with the door open.”
This is one of Stephen King’s rules of writing, and it’s a brilliant one. When you’re drafting, don’t worry about anyone else reading your work. It’s your time to be raw and experimental. But when it comes to revising, open that door—let others in for feedback, because the revision process is where the magic happens.

okay, so, bonesaw, miss riley grace davis. what are we looking at here? my coveted masterpiece, my labor of love: my dedicated bonesaw character design.
she is one of my favorite characters of all time, and i really wanted to give her a look that was visually striking and which represented a lot of what makes her unique, all organized in a way that was useful for other artists as well as myself.
my only important design note is that, although i did not draw it because i wanted clarity in the design sheet, of course she is always coated in blood and viscera :)

WORM Bitch Animatic
HEY WORMBLR!!
I made a thing! Thought this song really suited Rachel's character. I imagine she ever was put in charge of making an undersides recruitment video it would go a little something like this. I hope you like it!
Dedication:
This video is dedicated to my sister, who insists on the superiorness of the wolfspider ship. (I’m more a fan of skitter x tattletale myself). But here we are. I guess this is some free wolfspider supremacy propeganda for you girl.

There really is basically no reason for Imp Vista friendship to happen in a world where Regent doesn't blow up but I really wish there was. Maybe in comedic less serious AU they can still be Best Friends because there really is something so engaging about a world where the Undersiders and Wards hate each other but are also forcing friendship through gritted teeth off the clock for the sake of Team Little Sisters
Imp invites Vista to one of Taylors block parties in hopes that exposure to raw villainous joy will turn Vista supervillain. Vista brings the Wards with her in hopes that exposure to good natured heroes with a system of ethics will make Aisha want to join the Wards. Everyone is out of costume and random adults try and solve the tension between what they perceive as two groups of teenagers having a spat over nothing. Lisa and Chris Win are forced to shake hands and apologize lest they set a bad example for the kids watching. They play Cornhole and Regent makes the Wards mess up every single throw. Emotionally charged game of Uno turned philosophical debate between Brian, Taylor and Dennis.
In conclusion I have a vision for a beautiful world of WardSiders frienemyship and it all boils down to this image

Not worm related, but it’s been quite an exciting week! My debut novel is coming out on April 9th, still half a year away, but we’re getting ready to announce and promote it soon, and it feels like everything happened at once in the last few days.
I saw the gorgeous proposed cover, we’re reworking the summary and tag line, and I had to write my bio, as well as do a photoshoot to provide a decent author pic.
I now have an author page on their site! I’m part of the publisher’s authors group chat! My social media accounts are ready to go! My book launch will be at one of the major book fairs in the province!
Aaaaaaaahhh!

I love when I'm writing and suddenly a character starts to do something without consulting me first. Even better? When said action fits in perfectly with another plotline and shows the connection between the two different plotlines. like queue kronk's "oh yeah, it's all coming together"

friendly reminder to everyone that first draft just needs to exist.
it doesn’t need to be good, it just needs to be there. stories go through so many different drafts that nobody is gonna care if your first draft is a little messy.
you can’t edit and clean up something that doesn’t exist, so make it exist!
