ADHD How to burnout faster.
A crafty little list to burn yourself out:
Setting unrealistic expectations for yourself.
Being unkind to yourself but kind to anyone else making the same mistake.
Not being able to let go of any errors you do and think about it a lot.
Being ashamed of your flaws so you are trying to hide it and being extremely cautious about it.
Looking at people as being flawless and perfect while you have too many flaws.
Feeling bad about not knowing what to do in different situations and feel like you don’t have the confidence to handle it.
Always thinking about ways to improve yourself and never see how far you have come from the start.
Not being able to relax or calm down as you are always on the clock working.
Keep hitting the damn wall and always hoping for an better outcome. Keep doing it an second… third… fourth and fifth time again and again.
Isolat yourself from your family, friends and other people. You are on your own.
Feel like an failure, that your not good enough and you shouldn’t even try .

The regulator in ADHD-brains:
———————————
ADHD studies have shown that ADHD-brains have problems REGULATING their focus while working.
Regulating focus are need when we are doing projects at work, school and even in the free time.
We need it to get an task done.
The part of the brain of that are in charge of it calls the prefrontal cortex.
That unfortunately the part that are underdeveloped in people that have the ADHD-brain
I know that the prefrontal cortex have a lot of other functions and jobs but unfortunately I will not write anything about it in this text.
As I will be focusing of the topic focus and regulating focus.
What makes it hard to focus on tasks.
What makes it easier to focus on tasks.
Through the text I will be calling this part of the brain’s task. THE REGULATOR.
The regulator who’s only job is to make sure you start an project and hold focus when given the task or stop you when you need to shift focus to do another task.
The regulator goal are to preforming and producing great consistent results through the whole process when presented with a task.
The regulator should help you focus on important task even if it’s hard or boring which then gives your some hyper focus when working.
But the regulator in ADHD-brains doesn’t priorities things from most to least important. The regulator choose tasks that gives most rewards. Dopamine is one of them.
What is dopamine?
Dopamine are what gives us an feel of happiness, curiosity and satisfaction. It’s the satisfaction of completing task and feeling pleasure when working on it. It’s what makes us happy when doing the task.
In other words without the dopamine we can’t find things pleasing or interesting.
Studies shows that the ADHD-brains have an high cravings for dopamine and often shift their energy and hyper focus to the tasks find fun or interesting.
The task that are giving the most dopamine during the task. Are what makes them the happiest and more likely to hyper focused.
When ADHD-brains are hyper focus the striving to make the task as perfect as they possible can. Analysis the texture colors, taste smell sound you name it. If it’s something they find wrong they do it over again until perfect. It’s because the task takes the highest priories or importance to them and should be acknowledged as such.
While if the ADHD-brains are shown an tasks they find boring, hard or to easy. It have the opposite effect as they tendency to zone out and not focus enough to even wanting or able to start the task.
When that happens they usually wants to get this task done as quickly as possible and don’t gives a shit how overall results are looking. The task to them didn’t get the high priorities in their mind and they don’t care if it’s done to the bare minimum.
So what does it means for the regulator in an ADHD-brains.
The regulator in ADHD-brains have a harder time shift between the things that gives them more dopamine to the things that makes them uncomfortable and bored.
The regulator in an normal-disorder-people are able to shift focus from the fun task and the boring task without any or little difficulty. The regulator brain knows that it’s an high priority and therefore should be handled with much care an consideration as any other task.
As when the Regulator to an ADHD-brain is that. Not every task are priorities and not every task get that hyper focus mindset to complete the task to an minimum standard.
The regulator have to stop the ADHD-brain hyper focus from shifting to an task with more dopamine driving task. Which are proven more often more difficulty with starting the tasks due to the lack of dopamine in the task.
This may cause the ADHD-brains to stay longer on task they find give more dopamine.
When finally pulled away from hyper focus the ADHD-brain will stay in this awkward standby by the new task until they find something else fun/interesting/easy that makes the task more fun.
When they find the dopamine then the race is on again. Let’s the game begin!
While we have addressed the dopamine parts in the regulator main job.
The regulator biggest block is not always the lack of dopamine.
No no no
The biggest block the regulator will encounter is the unexpected ADHD-brains lacking of basic need for human survival or emotional handling.
What I mean with the things as basic human need it’s things as needing to eat, pee, poop and sleep. Or when the ADHD-brain are consumed by extrem emotions such as fear, anxiety, tired, boredom, uncomfortable, loneliness, anger and sadness.
When The regulator face those kind of encounter they find the job ten times more harder as the regulator have to deal with those issues before shifting the person with an ADHD-brain to hyper focus to the task the need to get done.

Energy crash!💥
When you think about people with an ADHD-brain you think they gets an unlimited amount of energy. That they are always on the run and never gets tired.
The thing is they have the same amount of energy as everyone else but uses it faster then others with none-ADHD-brains.
The saying “Balance is the key for success” may very well be true but for people with ADHD-brains they don’t often knowing how to find the balance in life.
It’s stupid to think that energy are something you can keep or hold up forever as it will eventually become low or empty.
And because the energy runs out ADHD-brains will experience an Energi crash.
It goes something like this for people with ADHD brains are when we one minute they are fun, giving, charismatic, energetic, exciting, life of the party and gets things done great while doing it fast that is until our battery hit the low level. 🪫
When that happens. They usually makes this face.
Their face are expressionless, eyes staring at not anything peculiar or down the floor. It’s an clear contrast with behaviour that is frustrating and confusing at best for others.
People with ADHD-BRAINS do this things extremely often.
When that happen my best advice are: Using careful, gentle, very easy words to them and sometimes get them something to eat. (Chocolate or something sweet usually helps me)

ADHD on DUTY
1. I get distracted easily by outside stimulation (nosies, lights, people and smells) things like-oh that cat is really cute… wait what was I doing again...? When I gets distracted and It takes an few minutes for me to remember what I’m doing in the first place. Let me reload my computer brain again. Ooh now I remember. Time to focus.
2. When I begin a task and it’s too much detailed i can’t remember anything. I hear you, I see you and I have repeated things you said to me but my short time memory are really bad. If someone talks to me between a to c I have most surely forget everything I need to get done. It sometimes takes me a few rounds to bring everything i need to do a cake. “Damn I forgot the eggs. I will be right back.” 5minutes later. “Still not enough eggs?” “Sighs. It’s time for an another trip. Be right back boss.” That why I write down what I need to do in small notes and how I’m going to do this IN PICTURES! Because when I’m hungry/tired/stressed I need very easy clear instructions that in form of visual.
3. I’m an organised mess. I like having every necessary tool on the table before preforming so I don’t have to worry about getting it later or forget that it exists in the room. But! BUT! I will always try clean up after myself and put everything back where they should be. ALWAYS!
4. I can be really hyper focused of things that I really finds interesting or passionate about. That means I will ignore you or get frightened very easily when I’m in the zone. But that doesn’t mean i am being rude or that i don’t like you. I’m really into this tasks that everything just disappears around me including people and especially time.
5. The flipping side is that the things I find difficult or boring are things I can’t seams to find motivation or energy to start. No matter how much I try. It feels like I am walking on shattered glass and it painfully boring. The task are very under stimulating and I only want to get it out of the way and it will take very much time.
6. If you want me to work my best I need some kind of freedom to find a way that works for me. I have try one fit all it doesn’t work for me most of the times. I have found that Effective and Fast doesn’t mix. If you you want fast you get messy. If you want effective you can’t get fast. But you can help me priorities and organised task or give me an to do list. So I can work independently.
7. Internal clock, understanding measurement as in distant/weight that doesn’t exist in my brain naturally. That’s why I need tools as clocks and timer to do my job properly. If I don’t see an physical clock on the wall where I work. I don’t know if im too slow and running out of time. I can’t planning ahead of myself. The future is now and sure I can get the job done but if I don’t know what to do I will do poorly with my work.
8. My mood changes very easily based on my basic needs, environment and people I’m with. Sometimes I just feel deeply about things. Super happy. Super sad. Super angry. Super tired. Super hungry. Super in love. Super hate. Not everyone can handle my extreme emotional roller coaster ride.
9. I can come out as cold hearted to some people. But I don’t like passive aggressive and indirect talking (irony). Get to the point even if it hurts a little. I will appreciate you being honest then you being indirect about things. I respect honesty.
Any topics gets sorted in this category fast by me.
Loves it = we can’t talk about it enough :D
Curious of it = takes all my time and energy.
OK with it = I don’t have any option of it but it’s an nice way to pass the time with.
It’s boring = You lost me or I actively avoid it.
Hates it = Can’t stand it. Don’t want to talk about it Period.
I hate putting on an show for anyone and act like everyone else because I am very truthful with my feelings/thoughts. I talk without filtering. People also say I don’t have an poker face. Which is also why I don’t try hide my true feelings. For good and bad sometimes.
10. When I don’t know what I’m doing I get bored, nervous and stress myself out. BUT When I get too much going on I get paralysed and can’t handle stress easily.
