made in honor of the now-extinct population of Falasteen crocodiles, the sunbirds that almost lost their names, and everyone else surviving the attempted erasure.
posted the other week as part of an ongoing fundraiser offering free prints and paid, with 100% of proceeds going to Care for Gaza. it has since been translated, wheatpasted, and flown on kites all over the world from Saigon to Scotland...!!!
monetary donations are never a substitute for holistic political action, and a push for a different world... but the shows of solidarity and support have lifted my spirits so much.
this is now available on a t-shirt too, screenprinted by hand in Texas!same deal: all profits go to food, medicine, and other critical supplies via Care for Gaza (& the PCRF). thank you for sharing.
image description below:
a Palestine sunbird holds red poppies in their beak next to the text RIGHT TO EXIST. a Palestine crocodile (a subspecies of the Nile, now extinct thanks to occupying forces) guards a shining key next to the text RIGHT TO RETURN. a Palestinian olive tree, full of fruit is next to the text RIGHT TO RESIST. a Palestinian family of five, all embracing each other next to the text RIGHT TO REMAIN.

Tatreez (Arabic: تطريز) is a type of traditional Palestinian embroidery. Tatreez uses traditional cross-stitch embroidery and is practiced largely among women. The craft was originally practiced in rural areas of Palestine, but is now common across the Palestinian diaspora. Historically, each village in Palestine had their own tatreez patterns. The landscape was a major source of inspiration for the patterns and motifs, which speaks to the variation in style that was common to see among all of the different tatreez expressions that were particular to each Palestinian village.
After the violent displacement and dispossession of Palestinians in 1948, people were living together in refugee camps. The different styles of tatreez became less distinct and have continued to evolve with the diaspora. Following 1948, tatreez evolved to reflect the experiences of Palestinians. Palestinian women began to incorporate the Palestinian flag and its colors into their tatreez as a means of resistance to the occupation of Palestine. Consequently, tatreez became an expression of the identity, heritage and resistance of Palestinian women and their dedication to preserve their ancient culture.

Fiber art auction to benefit Palestine
This is an original design assembled from traditional Palestinian tatreez motifs, stitched in cotton embroidery thread on cream linen. I am auctioning it off to raise money to benefit Gazan evacuees.
This project is suitable as wall art, or to be repurposed as a cover for a cushion, tote bag, &c. The linen is slightly sheer and will show some color from whatever is placed behind it. Thread from behind the canvas is all tucked away and does not show from the front. :)
Bidding will start at $25 USD and proceed in $5 increments. Bidding is to be done in the replies or through my DMs (I will update the highest bid in the replies).
Payment will be in the form of a donation receipt to any verified evacuation fundraiser from Gaza. This means that 100% of the price you pay goes into the fundraiser, with nothing deducted for shipping or materials.
Bidding ends on May 21st at 0:00 UTC (May 20th 8:00pm EST) with a soft close (each bid extends auction time by 1 hour).
This is a physical product and you will need to be willing to give me a shipping address.
Do contact me with requests for commissions :)

Germany hit rewind on ultra speed, "From the River to the C" is officially, legally banned, Bavaria wants to treat it the same way as showing SS flag and you can get up to 3 years of jailtime for saying it, so; fun times alltogether. Germans continuously seem to be unable to stop projecting their genocidal feelings towards Jewish people on Palestinians. No matter our demand, the echo of their grandparents voice seems to be reverberating in their head. In the midst of an ongoing Gen0cide against US they are still trying to blame us for Antisemitism altogether, even the fucking Hol0caust itself. All while committing Antisemitism and Hol0caust revisionism left and right, not to speak of the statements that would put HitIer to shame.
Our minds are not like yours, clouded with greed, imperialism and fascism, From Ras al Naqoura to Sinai, P4lestine will be free. From the northern most point to the South; historic P4lestine WILL be free from settlercolonialism, Ap@rtheid, military occupation and siege, Zi0nism and any and all injustice and pain you have imposed on us. Freedom, justice and dignity for all inhabitants of this land. And in case any fuckers wanna impose their genocidal worldview on this slogan, forget about it. I'm like 99% sure I coined it, so I hereby Explicitly state, that it has one meaning, and one meaning only. No room for your vile misinterpretations!

Not to say don't use the book because it does have valuable information but the way weir is taken as a "leading expert" in "Palestinian costume" when her writing is just so sterile and academic is one of the ways that museums and academia manufacture consent for genocide by implying that people have already been erased and long gone. No actually she is not a leading expert, Palestinian women who practice tatreez are the experts and its so weird to me that this random person is considered a LEADING expert on my culture lol.
Here's a list of books and resources from tatreez and tea if you want to learn about history of tatreez. These include Palestinian and nonPalestinian sources, though, and weir is inevitably on this list because of how valuable her book is.
Would especially recommend Wafa Ghnaim's (the owner of tatreez and tea) book because she does a great job of narrating history that we need to see more of in academia:

Pales tine’s Shadow
As a Palestinian myself, seeing the Dome of the Rock with Palestinians in Shadow’s debut game Sonic Adventure 2: Battle meant the world to me as a child. Palestinians have always been erased from the public. If you said Palestine, people would “correct” you by saying, “you mean Isr4el” and I have many painful memories of this erasure throughout my life.
Shadow has always been my favorite character of any media, and as a child, I liked to headcanon him as Palestinian because of the rare appearance of Palestinians in our homeland, his story arc (targeted and imprisoned by an oppressive military force for no reason besides their own personal gain, his grief and anger over his best friend’s murder, etc), and the silly idea that whenever he held a green chaos emerald, he was the colors of the Palestinian flag :)
The patterns on Shadow’s quills is called tatreez, a traditional form of embroidery from Palestine for women’s dresses and such. Many Christmas sweaters will actually use tatreez, but not many know of it because of the erasure Palestinians constantly face.
Don’t let them erase us.
