Malleus Draconia versus Ortho Shroud

It seems some people are surprised at Malleus’ actions? That he destroyed the robot dogs and almost destroyed Ortho.

But I would like to point out that Malleus has always been like this; very protective of his loved ones.

For example: In Lilia’s PE vignette, he nearly took Rook’s head off because he thought Rook was trying to hurt Lilia.

Then we come to book 7, chapter 7 update.

Yes, he destroyed the dogs and almost Ortho but remember Malleus is protective of his loved ones.

Malleus OBed because he wants his loved ones happy and Ortho is a threat to that, so of course he’s going to destroy any threats to them and Ortho basically labeled himself as such.

Now I want to bring up a point that I don’t see many talk about?

Malleus understood Ortho’s explanation about how Ortho woke up and how he was able to penetrate the barrier.

Ortho described himself as immortal basically because he can transfer his data to any body, which Malleus understood as transferring vessels.

This is when Malleus finally took the steps to destroy Ortho. Not because he wanted to kill him, but because he knew that Ortho would still live and transfer himself to another body.

Did Ortho feel fear? Yes because Orth doesn’t like lightning and that’s one of Malleus’ powers but think about it.

Feeling fear is an emotion no one wants to repeat. Malleus acknowledged that Ortho might be feeling fear

With Malleus knowing that Ortho can feel such things, Malleus told Ortho he would end him swiftly because in a way that is an act of kindess isn’t it? To end it quickly rather than prolonging the fear.

But at the same time he knows that Ortho will live and remember this emotion, and that’s what Malleus wants, so Ortho would be too scared to try again.

Malleus is protective of his loved ones and he always has been.

While his actions might seem as if he’s out of control, he isn’t. He understood in his own way what Ortho explained to him before making his move.

He didn’t attack because he’s raging but made a more calculative move on his end to stop Ortho, one that he would make repeatedly if need be, since he knows that Ortho can transfer bodies.

Hello hello. If I don't mind asking, what's this Crowley's fan theory rejecting Deuce's application for a Magical Wheel club about?

Hello hello!! Thank you for this question! (and apologies for the delay!)

Crowley's rejection of Deuce's application for a Magical Wheel club is one of many threads connecting back to a popular theory that Crowley is making the overblots happen on purpose!

It encompasses many things, such as the three light-magic users: Kalim's enrollment is particularly suspicious, as he received his letter of acceptance a month into what would become his first year at the school.

Jamil observes, "And just like that, my nice, free campus life went up in smoke."

Kalim was homeschooled prior to NRC and Jamil says, "Some days I just didn't want to go straight home after school" (where he would have to tutor Kalim, in addition to his other duties as Kalim's servant).

Did Crowley (or someone 👀) intentionally give Jamil those two months of freedom so that he would feel the loss of that freedom all the more acutely, contributing to his overblot?

The admissions process may have been more straightforward for Silver and I do not believe we have heard anything about Rook's, but both characters were, like Kalim, the catalyst to their respective housewardens overblotting:

It is Rook who convinces Vil to watch Neige's rehearsal (which is what finally compromises Vil's tentative mental stability, and it is Crowley who put Vil in charge of production for the VDC), and Malleus' overblot is immediately preceded by a conversation with Silver.

There is also Ruggie, who says (twice) that it is rare for people from his home to become mages and who had never attended a school prior to NRC. He is an odd choice for a prestigious magic academy.

He has also only become a "middling" student thanks to Leona's tutoring, and Leona's desire to help secure a future for students like Ruggie has a significant influence on Leona's overblot.

(A point that is emphasized in the novel: "I cannot let the pack starve.")

Crowley offers the choice of retiring Malleus from the tournament in Book 2 in a decision that the famously perceptive Vil says “reeks of unconscious bias.”

Crowley also goes out of his way to emphasize how many Savanaclaw students aspire to play in the Spelldrive Pro Leagues, how Savanaclaw has lost in the first round to Diasomnia two years in a row, and how it is affecting their future.

Leona points out that he seems to be telling them to quit while they are ahead because he expects them to make fools of themselves.

When Crowley denies this, saying, "That is not my intention," Leona asks, "Then what is?"

Is it possible that Crowley never intended to retire Malleus at all, but he knew that threatening to do so would be the final straw needed to push Leona into desperation? Making him desperate enough to contract with Azul, which connects directly to his destroying of Azul’s contracts to cover up the evidence, thus instigating Azul’s own overblot?

This also ties in to some interesting coincidences around certain school events:

Savanaclaw being paired against Diasomnia in the first round of the Spelldrive Tournament every year since Malleus enrolled?

The members randomly selected for the Starsending? For Glorious Masquerade?

(Idia: "How do three Housewardens just 'coincidentally' get drawn in a raffle? That box is rigged." - Trey: "The headmage claimed he used astrology to pick us...you don't think he was lying about that, do you?")

Have all these things been as coincidental as Crowley claims, or are the suspicions of students like Trey and Idia correct and there is more going on than it seems?

There is also the inconsistency of Crowley’s money-mongering.

Is he actually interested in perks like 10% of profits from Mostro Lounge and donations from Kalim’s and Idia’s parents, or is that just his cover-up to get Jack (and thus Leona) to interfere with Azul, and to get Kalim and Ortho to NRC?

Then there is Crowley's encouraging of Ace to battle Riddle, and it is not impossible for him to be the anonymous person who reported on the school's overblotters in Book 6.

Idia himself asks, "Could someone be inducing overblots on PURPOSE...?"

To return to the original question: Magical Wheels are a hobby that Deuce has in common with Epel, as both characters discover about each other in Book 5.

Epel and Vil bond (briefly) over a blastcycle in Epel's dorm vignette, and Deuce goes on a long monologue about the freedom of blastcycles to Ace:

"If you're ever feeling blue, you just get on a blaster and tune out the world...I haven't been able to since the first day of school."

This all ties back to an even wider theory about time loops: is Crowley reliving these scenarios over and over again, and granting Deuce and Epel the stress relief of a blastcycle club resulted in an undesirable ending?

If the freedom of their own club (and being able to confide in each other earlier on) resulted in them not going to the extremes that they did in Book 5 in order to escape Ace and Vil, it is possible that Deuce did not learn his unique magic in time to stop Vil.

And that fight on the beach that led to Deuce's UM? Was over a blastcycle!

To get Deuce and Epel down to that beach for that fight they had to be feeling stressed, trapped and desperate, to the point that they were willing to break campus rules (or were flustered to the point of forgetting the rules existed, in Deuce's case) to get there: and what better an opportunity than a long-awaited chance to finally ride one of the blastcycles they have both loved for years, but Crowley has been denying them?

No fight on the beach may have meant no UM for Deuce, which may have resulted in Vil winning the overblot fight and Crowley needing to reset the world in order to try again--and this time, without a Blastcycle club.

It is all theory and conjecture :> But very fun to think about!

He tries to get you to have small power naps between classes to give you more energy, the only exception is during lunch breaks since you need to use that for eating.

He's surprisingly strict with you getting sleep between classes, if you have to do homework he'll sit next to you to make sure you focus and finish it within the break.

Once you're done expect to be gently pulled down for your little morning/afternoon nap.

You remind him of Silver sometimes when he sees you've fallen asleep in the classroom or under a tree in the botanical garden.

He honestly didn’t know what a BAU agent was until you told him that you basically found the reason why someone committed a federal/serial crime. Then he was very worried about how you survived for this long.

Your efforts in trying to establish a system of mental and emotional support paid off, and Kalim took part in funding it. You both made a huge difference and now there is a school counselor at Night Raven College. 

Vil Schoenheit

He’s only heard of the occupation through films, so as he does your makeup he will ask you more questions about it since movies don’t always get it right. This man’s eyes went wide when you told him how you had to sit with federal criminals and try and evaluate them to determine their motives.

So, what you were saying is that you constantly put yourself in danger by sitting with criminals who could attack you at any point? Oh, no. This wouldn’t do at all. All he can say is that he’s glad you’re here and not risking yourself for your job (don’t let him hear about the field operations of the FBI).

Then, you made the mistake of telling him that since he’s constantly jealous of Neige, he’s only a few steps away from just ending either himself or the Snow White look-alike. He’ll be right back, he’s booking a therapy session right now.

He’s also only heard of your job through movies, so when he gets more comfortable around you he is asking questions left and right. Instead of being appalled, he’s intrigued as to the most common motives that you’ve seen.

I can wait to see the Queen of Hearts using her iconic quote to Riddle's mom, Ursula and Queen Grimhilde being proud that Azul's and Vil's have great parents, Hades being confused on how his parents are like compare to what he imagine (before their debut, the fandom assume they are neglectful and not caring given they didnt appear in the flashback) that but male sense where the shroud brothers' personality, Jafar scolding Jamil's parents for lowering his potential, Maleficent feeling bad about his dead parent(s?) (Assume if you heard the theory about it), and not sure about Leona unless replace his parents with Farena. Leona doesn't talk much how his parents affected him other than his dad being sick.

We havent fully se her sprite ingame, but I think as soon as sje appears everyone will go off on her. Amd I'm not only talking about the fandom. So as the Queen of Hearts heard about Riddles Mum, she went as red as the red roses in her garden. She demended on seeing his mum while loudly screaming "HOW DARE SHE TREATS HIM LIKE THAT?! IT WILL BE OFF WITH HER HEAD". Everyone had to calm her down, while Riddle explained that it would be very chaotic if a historical figure like her would suddendly appear in his home and that he already tries to change his mothers mind (although it doesnt really works).

If his Mum were to ever appear in the House of Mouse though she WILL be going off on her

Leona's Parent's

There is not much info regarding both of them, but I really doubt they are bad parents. They clearly were not the factor on Leonas mental state and werent judging him or telling he should be like his brother. As you said Farena is by Leonas saying sick and thus why his older brother is king. Leona never seemed to express hatred or dislike to his parents, so its easy to assume that he is alright about them. So Scar doesnt have much of a dislike to them, he is just glad that he has atleast somewhat decent parents (who didnt named their son Take which means trash)

Azul's Parent's

As far as we heard of them, his parents seem to be really great. Not only are they NOT the reason why Azul has problems but they are present in his life and being lovely to him. So yeah Ursula likes them a lot

Jamil's Parents

Ok well they are not really terrible but they do made Jamil always stay in the shadow of Kalim (often even though he was clearly better at some things) and it may just be me but I think they even hurted him?? Again not sure if this is correct so feel free to correct me. Jafar doesnt hold them in great regard since for one he himself had to always serve someone who is not really smart amd second they are just stalling his talents which is not a good thing for parents to do.

Vil's father

We didnt saw much of him, but he supports Vil's goal and even said to him that he is fit to play the hero role in any movie. So yeah the evil queen thinks he is a good father

Idia's parents

They are a perfect example of "thinking someones terrible, but they turn out to be good" parents. It was really weird and good finding out that Idias and Orthos parents love both of them and that they are just not always there because of their jobs (which they didnt even asked for). The way they reassured Ortho that despite him beinh a humanoid robot of the "real" Ortho, they love him the same as they did with the other and consider him family. Hades was skeptical at first (as we all were) but he ends finding them great, because yeah he can relate on having a job he didnt even asked for

Malleu's parents

Not much can be said except they really loved him as he was an egg and that his mother was willing to die to protect him, and also Lilias parential love towards him being the reason he hatched is just so sweet. Maleficent feels empathy toward his parents but she also thinks Lilia did a great job at raising him (and Silver)

Yes I know Yuu/MC/Prefect is magicless and all. What if Yuu absorbs the blot and magic without realizing and one day… explodes? Like they are the Wolf in Sheep's clothing? (*insert song reference here*) It is not even the magic of their own, it was the copy that Yuu had absorbed and made Yuu cast it to anybody who harmed them. They made Yuu suffer afterall. I guess this overblot MC is right after the Diasomnia chapter. If Yuu ever had a mental breakdown and say it was everyone's fault, which it really was... And lets go with the Overblot dorm heads.

Riddle Rosehearts:

Riddle becomes guilty after looking through Yuu's blot mark on their neck like it represents the unique magic he casted on them before.

He almost lost his guilt after he gets his unique magic, "Off with your head" backfired on him. So Riddle can't use any magic. He can't fight anymore so it's useless, now this guy gotta use his hands to fight.

Yuu slaps him with rose bushes because that was what Riddle uses to attack Yuu during his overblot. And now it was backfired.

Or simply gets his neck slashed, almost killing him.

Leona Kingscholar:

Realizes that he is also the main cause of Yuu overblotting and regrets being rude to the prefect.

One of his arms get crumbled because that was the hand that he used to cast his unique magic on Yuu, gladly he was saved by the hyena. Poor guy losing one of his arms, good luck using a single hand in the future… if you ever survive.

This guy is Yuu's main target for scratching like he is Yuu's scratching post.

Gets scratched on the face by Yuu's overblot claws and Leona gets temporarily blinded.

Azul Ashengrotto:

Azul regrets being greedy.

I personally think that this guy gets the most karma because of his greediness and almost killing Yuu before and during his overblot.

He almost gets crumbled with the warped magic of Leona, cuz it isn't safe for a merman to get crumbled right? So Yuu planned to do this like bruh.

Or he gets strangled/squeezed with the overblot tentacles Yuu has.

Azul used to squeeze Yuu with his tentacles during his overblot, but now it is backfired (again)

Jamil Viper:

Oh, Jamil… you should have realize that you aren't the only slave here.

One of his eyes gets slashed since he used his eyes to cast his unique magic to hypnotize Yuu.

The sky was dark, clouds congregating over Ramshackle like a halo of shame. Sat in the lounge, was Yuu, alone in misery on the couch with their grey feline peacefully asleep on their lap. They should've felt happy, an overblot hasn't happened in months, yet something clung onto their skin like a leech that kept biting at their mental state.

Were the first years okay?

It was one of the many questions in Yuu's mind, they wanted to feel mad at them all, but they couldn't have the heart to genuinely hate anyone in the school.

As they slowly petted Grim, the sound of sudden thunder shook the prefect, whipping their head upwards and towards the window, narrowing their eyes as they noticed a figure in the yard. It was a welcomed presence, one that Yuu adored. They carefully picked up Grim from their lap and set him on a cushion, placing a blanket on top of the cat. With that, they grabbed the umbrella by the doorway and treaded outside, opening it up and making their way to the fae.

"Tsunotarou, it's been some time." Yuu spoke with clear joy in their voice, walking up to its side, a smile spreading across their face.

"Yes, it has been, child of man. I have heard you haven't been attending school?"

"Oh...yes. That. Well, I just needed some time I guess, it's been tiring."

Yuu always felt comfortable around Malleus.

"If there's something troubling your mind, you can tell me."

He had looked down at Yuu, smiling at the prefect. It's been months since they first met, yet it felt like it's been years with how close the two have grown. Malleus was blind to what the future will be, it was too busy being caught up in the present to even take a guess.

"I just...Malleus I'm gonna be going home."

What?

"Crowley finally got me a portal to get back to my world. I want to go home, really! But...I feel like I haven't done enough, I feel like I still need to apologize to everyone. And..."

They didn't want to leave behind the many people they've come to love and treat like family.

Yuu didn't want to say anything more, fearing that they'd hurt Malleus more than they already have with the news. It looked shocked, befuddled, and broken, like a shattered pot laid upon the ground to be looked at.

"You're...going home?"

He couldn't muster itself to say more, because that's all that needed to be said.

"You're leaving me?"

"Tsuno...this world, it isn't for me, I'm not supposed to be here! I feel like a bug in the system of the world. I stick out like a branch in mud, Tsuno. I don't want to leave you behind but..."

Everything is as silent as it was inside. Neither of them exchanged any words the rest of the night.

The next day, Yuu finally went to their classes, awaiting the end of the day. Once sunset came about, only Yuu's closest friends were invited to the orientation room, left to sit in silence as Yuu bid them all a bland goodbye before stepping through a portal that was a warped picture of their home.

Ace made eye contact with Yuu right before they went through, he looked miserable. Standing all around him were the first years, Ace knew that he and Deuce would be most affected.

He still had so much to tell Yuu, they all still had so many adventures to have as a group.

He hoped it'd be the same without the magicless prefect. But deep inside, he knew nothing would ever be the same.

I loved the prologue of the new au ! I think the line that drew me most was the one that said that Lilia was a familiar that had a form ready for battle. It got me curious to know why he can change forms willingly.

My theory would be that he was already a familiar or is just more powerful than the rest and has enough experience to change willingly. Since I think it was mentioned that lilia had lived through generations with the family. My only problem with the theory is why couldnt he talk before ? Or maybe he just didnt want to. Lilia is very chaotic and unpredictable, I find him funny.

Cant wait to read more on this au ! I love angst

To those that only want spoilers in the form of a drabble, you don't have to read this.

While Lilia does have the ability to change his form, it's only something temporary, he'll eventually have to go back to his much bigger, and permanent form, but he does so away from sight. Doesn't want to scare you, after all.

As for the other seven, we'll, they don't know how, and they're not in the best headspace at the moment, and some of them might choose to not change their form at all, since they know they can never permanently stay that way unless you involve some illegal magic in there.

And as for why Lilia doesn't talk in the regular AU, well...it's actually a pretty dark and part of the reason why Silver took Lilia and everyone else away from his family to live on his own. Frankly, the head of the household, who was Lilia's Master at the time(a forced contract as well) found out about Lilia "poisoning" Silver's mind, essentially being the parent nobody else would. As punishment for such a thing, the head of the household had some illegal magic done to permanently put him in his cuter, smaller state, which wouldn't seem like it would affect much, but the head of the household was also aware that with this magic, came the price of mental regression.(this particular magic was originally made to keep regular pets small and cute forever, which... Yeah...)

Essentially, Lilia is cursed to be unable to speak and unable to learn how to speak. Now, the reason as for why that's undone in this Sanctuary AU was because of Malleus, when he was forced to bloom into his magical potential. As everyone already knows, Malleus is real freaking strong. And with a bit of time, and patience, Malleus managed to undo the damage done to Lilia, since I remember that it's "easier" to return things to the state they once were, to Malleus anyway.

This does end up being a domino effect of sorts since Malleus was, at that point, very close to overblotting. But I'll write that out another time.

In the regular AU, the simple reason why Malleus couldn't talk was because he's young. Just barely hatched from the egg, as they say. In this AU, everyone is older, which doesn't mean much to Lilia honestly.

Me in a relationship: Very much more of an unspoken affection sort of person, I’ll make small changes to things or add steps in my daily routine to help my partner. I also am a bit cuddly, though only after people gain my trust, as I’m a tad touch starved. Cooking is another thing that I will do, especially with trying to figure out things that bring happy memories and such.

At the end of the day, it can sometimes feel like it’s you and her against the world. But maybe, together, you two can change that.

Will Azul get punished in the end of chapter 3? I know Jamil was mentioned he will get his comeuppance but with how unhinged Azul is especially with the poison plot, I feel like he needs to be punish.

It is one of my concerns back in the game where the overblot boys got off scott free with minimum punishment. Riddle would have let go if Ace didn't call him out (thankfully the official novel gave out additional bits about Riddle and his consequences), Leona still gets to play and still loose either way, and nothing on Azul much. Jamil is like the only who got punish and that isn't enough by having it keeping it secret and just having social reputation being damage. Vil's actions isn't made public and felt him loosing is kinda punishment for attempted murder. (He mentioned how their performance is sloppy from battling Vil, which would have gain more votes if it weren't for that). Idia getting scolded by his parents doesn't seem enough for Idia and having the school fixed from the Styx isn't really Idia's fault, Ortho sorta Scott free since he let it happened. It makes me wonder how this affect on Malleus after his overblot.

Well, from the game perspective inflicting a long time punishment is not very interesting. Mostly because most punishment that could befall them wouldn’t really involve us the player so it’d probably feel more like padding than anything else.

As far as my writing is concerned it didn’t make sense to punish Riddle more since while he crossed several lines he didn’t break any school rules until his mental breakdown and OB. Crowley can be an ass but he’s not one to punish students for almost dying. There’s still some consequences for his standing that I touched a little on in the Book 1 epilogue and that will pop back up in book 3. I didn’t mention Heartslabyul too much in book 2 because I didn’t want to divert the focus too much.

Punishing Leona more than what the game did would have been a huge dick move since he didn’t do it this time. However, I think I punished Ruggie more than enough for his BS.

The mortifying ordeal of being known is kind of Jamil’s worst nightmare so to no one surprise I’m going down that road. Jamil’s bs that the impending doom crew didn’t know of before will be found out in book 3. The comeuppance however is going to be more of a book 4 deal.

Azul will have to face consequences for his actions. However I’ll hold judgement for until you guys read what’s he’s planning. I want to repeat that he’s not planning on messing the underwater breathing potion.

I haven’t planned anything special for book 5 and 6 as far as Vil and Idia is concerned. I will, but I’m going to need some time and see how you guys react to the insanity of book 3 and 4. The issue being that the characters are going in blind and that there’s more events to factor in and that the Timelapse between book 4 and 5 is muddy at best. In fact the duration of book 5 is unclear to me. I can tell you that Harveston will take place before book 5, and that ghost marriage will definitely take place during it and Fairy gala will be right after it. But after that… beats me. I may end up making Vil be more sympathetic and his struggles harder to see for the VDC clan.

Anyway I think Idia and Vil will have to deal with redemption more than punishment. Keep in mind, the Scoobi gang is going to be fully formed by the end of book 4 so that’s a whole other mess to deal with. Issue with grief will pop up before book 7.

Speaking of, Book 7 is not ever done in the JP server but I already have a whole lot of drama for it! I can’t really say anything yet because I’m waiting to see how it concludes. It shouldn’t be long now though.

Not sure if you mean physically or mentally, so I'll do both. Also under cut for heavy answer.

In the physical aspect (as for right now at least, until I decide on what happens with blot Malleus) that title belongs to Vil. The cracked ribs due to Azul's blot do still definitely cause some pain, but Vil's poison spread that she'd breathed in have done permanent incurable damage to her lungs that has the potential to flare up whenever. Whether or not that flare up will just cause her to just have a small coughing fit or full on compromise her breathing to the extend she wouldn't be able to catch her breath, is a constant unknown.

In the mental aspect however, I'd say they were all equally distressing after finding out what blot did to the other students bodies after the mishap with Riddle. It isn't so much mentally affecting her in the sense of leaving her with serious trauma, though she did have a few sleepless nights filled with constant nightmares after the event in question, but instead affects her in the way of being concerned for her classmate. Seeing them fall to blot is already distressing enough to their bodies but knowing the blot could potentially kill said classmate, is part of the reason she puts herself at risk by sticking close to the blotted student and consistently checking on their well being after said blot.
