[Ramen Noodle Solace]
Wow, a non-angsty peaceful scene for once. I decided that I wanted to draw something tender because I kept drawing big, scary stuff. So, I wanted to show Caden and Hua reliving the ramen noodle dinners they used to have as they watched TV before the apocalypse.
~~General Process~~
I was facing a bit of art block at the time so I felt super meh about it until I shaded it and did all the effects. Also, the hands... I hated doing them, but I hope that they turned out ok. I even had to use a new shading technique because the one I had before was too inconvenient for something with so many overlapping details. Overall, the piece took 37 hours and 23 minutes with 42,976 strokes. Admittedly, most of those hours and strokes were somewhat purposeless or just me spacing out but I got there in the end.
~~Mushy Stuff~~
The scene depicts Caden and Hua enjoying each other's company and eating their go-to cheap dinner in front of the TV like how they used to before the apocalypse. It's typically sports, which leaves Hua confused so he draws on the couch and keeps his friend company. It's a small moment in a sea of chaos, which is why the framing is so small. The end of the world is scary, or at least things that are perceived as the end of the world are scary. It helps to have a friend and to create little moments where things feel normal and hopeful.

Exciting news for the cute shark lovers of the world! We finally have a recorded sighting of a baby great white shark, likely only a few hours old.
The question of where great white sharks give birth still remains a mystery to this day but this footage may suggest the coasts of California, where the footage was taken, are a site where these sharks give birth.

earth fact time. this is NOT A DRILL! two great white sharks have become best friends!! their names are simon and jekyll and they've travelled together for over 4,000 miles. this is a huge discovery, because great white sharks are usually solitary creatures!
an important note is that these sharks aren't swimming side by side, and are usually a couple kilometres off from each other - but their trackers kept pinging in the same part of the ocean at the same time. scientists think they might be brothers, or following a previously unknown migratory path.

Monday, February 5.
We've got (probable) good news.
Probable, we say, because scientists have captured footage of what is believed to be a great white shark pup, possibly just hours old, off the coast of California. It may just prove a seismic moment for researchers investigating these elusive creatures.
It is bigger news, however, for Tumblr's populous shark fandom community, who will surely erupt when they see this little white friend swimming in the deep, like a slinky underwater angel. Just look at that face. Just look at that smile!
