Today, we celebrate 84 years of the F4U #Corsair taking its #FirstFlight.
A total of 12,571 Corsairs were built across 16 different models, starting with the prototype delivered to the #USN in 1940 and concluding with the final delivery to the French in 1953.

In 1944 a kitten named George (short for General Electric) was saved from drowning by a U.S. Navy crew member. George was then photographed and given a liberty card and detailed health record. Source.
