cross species relationships is one of the things that's considered a sin in their religion (perhaps not in all religions but at least in the one that's depicted in the story)

while same sex relationships can still pass as love in some communities, relationships between completely different animals will definitely be seen as lust everywhere

but as you guessed it didn't stop some from trying

so in some cases (that also work in our world) it's actually possible to have a child though you can imagine what kind of life and treatment in that kind of society a kid can expect. additionally hybrids are always infertile which will only prove that they were rejected by Gods

in most other cases - no, having a child just won't be possible genetically
