Honored that the kind folk over at the Los Angeles Youth Orchestra have invited me to attend their rehearsal this Sunday and spend some time with the players. They're a perfect example of cultivating and encouraging the arts in the youth, in this case classical music and performance, and hopefully you'll take a second to check them out and watch some of their performances. Will be posting more after the rehearsals this weekend. Encourage the arts.

1964. An ordinary day turns out to be anything but, when Joe comes home to find out that his wife Betty hasn’t been cooking dinner.
And there’s a very good reason for that in this mysterious short.

It's also being slowly released worldwide. Not sure where you're located, but it's currently (at least) playing in Germany, France, Italy, Spain and coming to the United States on Disney XD soon. I composed all the music and if you like, you can go to my Soundcloud and hear a short medley of the music. Enjoy! http://soundcloud.com/markyaeger/sets/lanfeust-quest/

How do you capture a brilliant idea the moment it strikes? For Hollywood composer Mark Yaeger, inspiration can happen anywhere. Learn how he uses Evernote to capture creative thoughts, and recall them later.

To buy or not to buy.. is that the question?
Lately I’ve been seeing and hearing many of my colleagues in the film and music industry complaining about people pirating their music; I use the term “complaining” in the loosest sense possible - I mean no disrespect. I just don’t see the point in being upset about someone downloading your music off Youtube and putting it to a video of theirs, or even simply stealing it rather than buying it. Maybe I’m too nice, or maybe I’m just not old-fashioned. I’m not undermining the value of my music, I’m just realistic. The bottom-line for me is: I’d rather people be exposed to my music, free or purchased, rather than limit it to only people that want to buy it. Of course if you’re gonna use my music in your new BMW advert, by all means it must be cleared and licensed. To be blunt, I am not a recording artist. I make no money off sales. The amount of money I DO make off sales, is so inconsequential that the benefits of people simply having my music far outweigh the income I’d make by only letting people buy my music. That is the exact reason I give my film scores away for free if you like - pay what you can.
My job is done when the score is written, I already got paid to put it in the film. Now I want people to enjoy it and have it and be exposed. I consider it a blessing that I even have the means available to give my music to people throughout the world at the click of a button. Music is made to be enjoyed. IF I can make a living off of it, then great, that’s a great upside.
I make music for film. The music is a byproduct of the film. I’d be honored if someone “stole” my music, listened to it, enjoyed it enough to share it, and so on and so forth. I’m not here to sell albums, I’m here to create emotions for film. The rest, is just a plus. So by all means, don’t steal my music, please have it - it’s for the world anyway.
