The writers are screaming that they aren't really that compatible... and this is the level of conversations they are having, more often than not it's something completely superficial, and even when they are talking about more deep stuff they are either surrounded by others or the scene is structured as silly or there's something weird going on with someone interrupting 💀

I would be embarrassed if I had such low standards for my ships, compared to the other couples their romantic interactions are so weirdly written and genuinely awful for both characters, it's almost funny to watch people try to defend them as a couple and then actually look at them on the show and see how awkward and distant they are from each other for most of their relationship on screen
