You. You get me.
Just because I want to watch Headbangers Ball compilations, music videos, or band interviews, doesn't mean I want to see 'The Victims of David Lee Roth', 'Why is Pantera Selling Out (woke mob???)' (Even though I don't even listen to Pantera), 'Vince Neil Fucks up Home Sweet Home' or 'The Only News That Matters: Justin Hawkins Calls Ace Frehley a Cunt'.

I hate this
It's a uniquely awful circumstance to be building a comparative list of your Ao3 fics for a uni project, only to find out that the ones you are proud of aren't even your top-rated fics.
If I have to see this data table, then so do you.
Tumblr media
It's good enough quality that you can see it. For a bit of context, the higher up the story is on the list, the more recent and more proud of it I am. The greener the stat, the better it is concerning other fics. On the flip side, the redder the stat, the worse it is.
Now I would like to draw attention to these few works.
Tumblr media
See that book whose stats are all in green? "I'm not a fucking nurse"?
I wrote that 3 YEARS AGO! Before I got good at writing. I wrote it during my dream smp phase where I was (in my opinion) almost peak cringe! Nothing will beat my year 7 Wattpad phase but my DreamSMP phase came close.
That book is my peak. I have not topped its stats since.
Then there is "How to Train Your Hoglin". I didn't even come up with the idea. I saw some animatics on it (I credited the animatics) and wrote a few chapters and then threw in the towel. IT IS MY SECOND MOST LIKED BOOK.
Now you may ask, "But Dot, what about the other minecraft one?" well the funny thing about that one, the 10,000 word one...
I don't fucking remember writing it.
I don't remember having anything to do with that book. I can't even remember what it is about. I look at the tags and I go "what the fuck is this?" That book has completely deleted itself from my memory. I wrote 10,000 words and I cannot remember a single one.
Then there is the book third to the top. I posted it on Tumblr as well a while ago. That book is my pride and joy, I am in love with that book. It was an original work that I wrote based on my nightmare and it is my child.
It is also second place for the least-liked book on my account.
And about the book at the top of the list? The one I posted here about a week ago? Well, I cross-posted it to Ao3 as well...
HOW THE FUCK DOES THIS EVEN WORK ANYMORE????
At least that book I am somewhat proud of. A sequel in the works btw.
TL,DR: Don't put your AO3 works into a spreadsheet to compare them. You'll get depression and probably stage 4 cancer as well. Istg I'm gonna bleach my eyes after this.

So I upgraded my computer today and am trying to redownload some old programs. Most are going just fine, but for some reason, Calibre's installer is just not downloading at all. It's bizarre and means my reread is gonna be a little stalled.

Alright #anxifear nation come get yall’s food
This is based off an artists’s twitter post of an Inside Out x Heathers AU and they had Anxiety as JD and Fear as Veronica and I thought the dynamic of it was just too priceless too not use.
And no shame to the creator either by the way I’m just so surprised by the creative minds of the internet I mean who thinks to put those two pieces of media together?! It’s actually impressive so props to your creativity lol

I don't get why these people call it 'lying' when a band chooses to continue touring. Opinions change, and you can't make money off album sales anymore. Why does it matter to you? You don't have to see them if it pisses you off so badly that these groups choose to do another tour? The U.S. isn't getting any new rock acts anyime soon, I'm afraid. The only reason I can see being wary of this is the health of the performers, but given how these fans treated Paul Stanley getting covid or a serious flu, you know they don't care.

I feel like people tend to forget that the reason children are on websites they really shouldn't be on, like Twitter for example, is because there are no spaces on the internet anymore specifically designed for children, unless it's for babies or toddlers.
The death of Flash also meant the death of thousands of games and websites specifically designed for the 9-13 demographic. Now granted, several games died long before Flash did (like the Holy Disney MMO trio - Pixie Hollow, ToonTown and Club Penguin) but there were other websites designed around what kids would enjoy. Sites like Kongregate, Sploder, GirlsGoGames and others were designed with kids in mind.
These sites were special in the sense that it gave fun games for children to play without even really needing to interact with other people directly. They could play the games and have fun. If they wanted to make friends they could, and oftentimes these sites had moderation to prevent kids from having full control over what they could say so as to prevent bullying and potential cyberstalking.
But now Flash is dead, and there's barely any hangout spots for that demographic anymore. I think the last remaining game you can play that doesn't require Flash that was a major part of the 2010s game nostalgia was Wizard101, but that game comes with the flaw of membership programs, similar to all the other MMOs that existed at the time.
Needless to say, the next time we ask in annoyance why there's so many 12 year olds on Twitter and Tik Tok, remember that it's because there's literally no online spaces anymore solely for them and only them, that majority of adults wouldn't step foot into anymore.
