thinking too hard about the Promise card again. i saw a panel of high priest yukito from tsubasa world chronicle and now i can’t stop staring at the illustration on Promise.

the visual similarity with tsubasa’s yukito, the high priest of clow country/part of clow country’s priesthood, is striking. including the lines serving as detailing on the edges - at first i thought the lines on the promise card were something like bunny ears, but now i think they’re just decoration. anyway, i’m posting the entire page because there’s something else that i think is also very relevant: the hands.

tsubasa!yukito’s hands are conveniently and clearly shown here. they’re pretty bare. he doesn’t have sleevies that go all the way up, to cover the backs of his hands, the way the Promise card does. but you know who does wear those?

yue.

the ones the Promise card is wearing are a tiny bit different - they seem to taper into defined points, and they don’t have gems the way yue’s do. but they are very notably something that yue wears, you know? i can’t think of any other character that wears these.

and that’s significant, to me, because i’m utterly convinced that the price yukito paid at Tsukimine Shrine for his power was “himself”, in some way, but also convinced that sakura is going to use the Promise card to bring him back or keep him around. i am going to leave elaborating on exactly why i think that for another post, but it’s important to my line of thought that the Promise card is composed of imagery that’s just associated with yukito, not yue. that this promise is something sworn with yukito, that this is something tied to yukito himself and not yukito as a false form or aspect of yue.

so the fact that the Promise card has a design element really strongly associated with yue, when the rest of the card features things centered on yukito (snow motif, the hood/cloak outfit similar to the one tsubasa!yukito has, the promise he made with sakura) frightens me a little. i don’t want the lines between them blurred; i don’t want either of them to disappear for anyone’s sake.

(which is really funny to me because “i don’t want you to disappear” is so much of a thing in all of ccs/holic/tsubasa. especially when it’s directed at people who were constructed for others’ purposes. crying into my hands.)

The UNEASE when one of the fun Mokona quotes of the series (Mokona is Mokona) is thrown BACK AT MOKONA in the distressing time loop situation (The princess means the princess!)

Kurogane visibly SWEATING (from the heat, as Fai observed last chapter?) as he wonders when in the timeline of Clow this is. ME TOO KUROGANE THANK YOU FOR THIS.

I have deep deep appreciation for the murder dads getting to react in shock at these revelations and then also vocally discuss the implications of everything between them. I’m living for this active investigation. It’s all spiraling further and further into confusion but they’re keeping all the pieces together in a logical form for now. And LOVE that expression on Fai when he says they won’t find any useful answers here.

Meanwhile Mokona asks her own question in the investigation (about seeing Sakura, because Mokona is always a darling) but the answer is that she’s not in the castle. The pause in everyone’s reaction to this makes me think the next line he says is going to be even worse. 

INTERESTING. 

This is new information (to us) but Lava Lamp reflects on this as if he should have been able to figure this out all the way back here. WHEN HE WAS ALSO SEVEN.

WHEN HE WAS SEVEN YEARS OLD (or close enough) AND TRAPPED IN A LAVA LAMP, UNABLE TO DO ANYTHING AT ALL EXCEPT LOOK THROUGH SOMEONE ELSE’S EYE, and he still thinks he should have been able to piece together the mystery from the fact that Sakura did purification rituals at the ruins before her birthday. 

Hindsight can be a bitch to deal with but Lava Lamp is just unerringly hard on himself.

So I've had these Grunkle Stan crackships on my mind for almost a year now. Could be interpreted as platonic, but I think there's great and fascinating potential if interpreted fully romantic. Full musings and explanations below (Warning: very disjointed and random).

Uncle Chan from Jackie Chan Adventures

Maybe Ford and Stan stumble across the Chans on one of their globe-trotting adventures. Both groups fight off the same supernatural threat and surprise each other with their ease and familiarity with the weird and fantastical.

I feel Uncle is kind of a weird in-between of Ford and Stan. He is knowledgeable but not a nerd like Ford, is generally cranky but doesn't get into trouble like Stan does, although he does have a level of disregard towards authority if it gets in the way of his goals. He's quick to do research instead of impulsively charging into a situation.

I think Uncle's dynamic with Stan would be hilarious. They would argue a lot on how to deal with a threat, but once they agree to work together, they could kick ass. Once he gets past his initial annoyance, Stan would probably enjoy Uncle's quips, even more so when he realizes that Uncle does not say them to be funny, he's just naturally snarky.

Uncle is never shown having any romantic interest or relationships, so I kind of headcanon him as ace, but I think it would be really interesting to see what kind of queerplatonic relationship he and Stan could form.

Jade and Mabel would probably hit it off immediately, and while Jade isn't as studious as Dipper, she also has an enthusiasm for the supernatural so she'd probably get along decently with him. She'd also probably think Stan and Ford are super cool, especially considering their lax attitude toward giving children weapons. Though they do still take the kids' safety very seriously.

Jackie is doubtful of Stan, much like he was with Viper, but seeing Stan look out for the kids would probably endear him a little. Ford might also help ease his worries, and maybe they both could have fun discussion about archeology.

I think Tohru and Soos could get along decently, though Tohru would find Soos' eccentric musings odd at first.

Additionally, Uncle's shop is in San Francisco, practically next door to Dipper and Mabel in Piedmont. The kids would easily visit each other every weekend.

Bruno Madrigal from Encanto

Stan has been to prison in Colombia, so I don't think he'd willingly travel there for fun, and Encanto Valley seems relatively closed off from the rest of the world, so I imagine their meeting is accidental, maybe a result of the Stans getting caught in a storm or something. They stay for a while in the valley while repairing their boat.

Stan might initially be outraged at the idea of the Madrigals not charging anyone for the use of their gifts, but perhaps lightens up when he sees how close-knit the community is. He'd still come up with ways they could show off their powers Mystery Shack style, probably butting heads with Alma in the process, lol. He might encourage Bruno to adapt a more showman-like approach to his seer abilities to make it more presentable and less intimidating.

Bruno and Stan connecting over their shared feelings of isolation from family is definitely what drew me to these two together in the first place. If they ever got serious about their relationship, I can imagine the biggest hurdle would be deciding if they should continue a long-distance relationship, since neither is keen on asking the other to be separated from their family.

Yuuko Ichihara from xxxHolic and Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle

Major spoiler alerts for both series. It's been many years since I've read them, and Tsubasa had so many plot twists that even CLAMP (the writers) admitted they were confused by the end result. I also might be misremembering some details, so bear with me. Factoring in the plotlines for both series and Gravity Falls would make for an incredible AU fanfic that I unfortunately am not qualified to write.

Due to Yuuko's shop being in Tokyo, a whole ocean away from Oregon, I like to imagine some timey-wimey space mumbo jumbo allowing Yuuko and Stan to meet in the dream realm. Maybe at some point, Yuuko's shop would obtain a door connecting it to the Mystery Shack.

Stan and Yuuko both have a mischievous side, though Yuuko is generally more reserved. They could start out as drinking buddies, though I imagine Stan would probably favor a light beer, while Yuuko loves sake.

They also both use aliases (it is never revealed what Yuuko's real name is), but Yuuko would likely be upfront about it. As their relationship progresses, Stan would probably feel comfortable telling Yuuko his real first name, even after she tells him the supernatural dangers of giving your real name.

While Stan scams his customers, he generally sells harmless entertainment and trinkets, whereas Yuuko grants wishes and operates strictly on an equivalent exchange basis. To quote the wiki, "All of Yuuko's customers must pay a price in order to grant their wishes, which can be no more or no less than the one demanded, or else harm will come to one's way. She is not one to tell the customer the most direct way to solve their problems because in the end, it can only be solved with that person's own realization and resolution to change themselves... Her abilities are not unlimited and may almost seem like a curse as it appears that she is unable to do anything for anyone or grant any gift (other than feelings) without it becoming a binding transaction." 

When Stan finds out just how powerful Yuuko is, I think he might react with a mixture of hesitation and awe, especially when she reveals she knows about his past, and Ford being lost in the multiverse. I am on the fence on whether Yuuko would use her powers to bring Ford home sooner, or let Stan continue working on the portal because he's already close to completing it and this would be significant in defeating Bill.

I found that the main villain of Tsubasa, Fei Wang Reed, surprisingly parallels Stan. Both endanger reality to bring back someone who is lost, but while Stan does it out of love and devotion to his family, Fei Wang Reed only did it in an arrogant plan to prove himself a powerful sorcerer. And in Fei's case, the person is already dead. CLAMP's universe establishes that the dead cannot be brought back to life, and Fei's wish to do so would cause the universe to be destroyed. I wonder if Bill would factor Fei as part of his plans.

Stan also surprisingly shares a lot in common with Fai D Fluorite. Both use their twin's name (Fai's real name is Yuui), and for much of the series Fai's tragic backstory regarding his twin is unknown, and he hides his trauma under a laid back exterior. I think Stan would empathize a lot with Fai, after he finds out his backstory.

Kimihiro Watanuki is revealed to have been created to fill a void left by Syaoran after the latter wished to turn back time. I remember Watanuki's character arc involved realizing that people cared about him. "Don't disappear", "Continue existing". Stan would probably take Watanuki under his wing, much like he did with Soos. Watanuki might find life with the Pines family far more chaotic than he's used to, but slowly warm up.

Yuuko is revealed to have died a long time ago and has basically been in magical stasis due to Clow Reed's unintentional wish. When time finally moves forward again, Yuuko eventually passes on. She doesn't return in the canon series, but Watanuki is stated to have also suspended his time to wait for her return. In this AU, maybe she reincarnates in the past and reunites with Stan and the Pines in the present day.

Warning for spoilers, He’s the War God of Bai Zhan Peak basically the original sword gay in the world of SVSSS, whether or not you ship him with Shen Qingqiu, Luo Binghe or neither the point still stands that he’s a draw his sword first ask questions later kinda guy. Also SQQ basically canonically calls him a pretty boy, what more do you need 

He's one of the best swordsmen in-universe! According to the author, he's not interested in a relationship so he's canonically aro and possibly ace as well!

For Kurogane:

He's been practicing swordplay since his dad started teaching him when he was a kid, and inherited the sword Ginryuu that's been in his family for generations.  He now uses his skill with a blade to protect the people he cares about, and is considered the strongest swordsman in his country.  He once cut off his own arm with his sword to save the life of the man he loves, and honestly isn't that just Peak Sword Gay?

he's over six foot & his sword is almost as tall as he is, his husband (technically not canon but by god the queer subtext is h e a v y) is an immortal vampire wizard twink whose life he saved by cutting off his own arm, he's a family man first & a mass murderer second, he's that one tumblr post that's like "it's not my fault my love language is acts of service & all I know how to do is kill", he is the most mentally stable member of his traumatized little found family & he's doing his level best to drag the rest of them up with him no matter how much they (specifically his husband) might kick & scream about it

Gojo Satoru (Jujutsu Kaisen) vs Fei Wang Reed (Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles)

MANGA SPOILERS. he is all "i am the strongest. i'd win." (and then his hubris leads to him being directly and indirectly responsible for the worst things that happen to everyone around him and himself. including his student/foster son getting possessed, and his own incarceration and death);

Fei Wang Reed

Fei Wang Reed is the main villain of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, which features four people and a magical creature crossing dimensions to regain the memories of one of them, which Fei Wang took from her and scattered across the worlds. Fei Wang orchestrated the involvement of all four of them (the children from the time they were born and the adults from the time they were children) and the entire journey in order to gain the power to raise the dead, something that the greatest wizard of all time didn't accomplish (the greatest wizard may or may not have created Fei Wang, all that's known concretely is that they have the same last name). He doesn't even have any particular person he wants to raise, he just wants to do it because Clow Reed couldn't. In the end, these people (and a couple others who Fei Wang had involved in the situation) bring about his downfall, his spy in their midst betraying him and the man whose parents Fei Wang killed when the man was a child ultimately killing him when the two would never have met if Fei Wang hadn't interfered in his life. Along the way, Fei Wang had also been betrayed by a multiple artificially created people that he'd made.; he's such a smug asshole and I hate him and it honestly makes me laugh whenever I think about the fact that he literally orchestrated his own downfall trying to do the impossible just because. like NONE of the people involved in his death would've been there if he hadn't ruined their lives first

Episode 44

In short, I am unwell 🥴 spoilers below.

First thought while listening: Omfg is this Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles all over again with "the price" of granting a wish resulting into "the wisher has to never stay in the same place and always continue the journey across the worlds"? WHO on the team is a CLAMP fan? I don't want Silas and Cass to be doomed by the narrative :')

But THEN congratulations, TSP team, you made a BIG fan of specifically clones, doubles and shapeshifters reeeeeally uncomfortable with them for the first time ever :D even DW's Flesh episodes failed to freak me out this much - I mean yeah the long neck Japanese horror inspired Jennifer was terrifying but part of me was still very sad for her.

These guys though... my mind is rooting for them because they are trying to do a good thing (by their words, anyway), but I can't trust them? It's just another group of people who are convinced the aim justifies any means, which I believe has already lead them into a bit of a wrong direction at the very least. And I didn't feel much for them before because we don't know enough to compile an image? Ok Finley is extra charming, but that's beside the point. But now I'm terrified of them and the idea of "oh gods, you can't trust anyone now".

This is a very interesting effect. It's not like I've never seen this trope playing out. It still didn't affect me - at most it made me more intrigued, never so unsettled. I was really rooting for the doppelgangers in The Flesh, clones were one of my favourite characters in Tsubasa and Tales of Abyss (and I like the question their nature raised there), I support the Echo's rights but more importantly the Echo's wrongs (despite her/them? being an antagonist) in The Sheridan Tapes, same as Ned's from the same podcast, and a shifter is basically what I'd like to be if I could be anything but a human. Oh, and I LOVE the Stranger in TMA.

But here? Ohhh boy. They are very likable characters on their own, but this demonstration of power was INTENSE. Podcasts have an interesting effect with horror on me: I'm not scared at all or at least not as much as I would of any movie because there are no visuals. But having only an audio as a source also amplifies the emotional effect if the acting is right, I suppose. I think Silas is just a very good choice for a viewpoint character. Any listener who's got to this point has to sympathize with him by now, so the listener feels the impact from his emotions. But there has to be another component, too.

Because the uneasiness is not about WHAT they are or their abilities, but the way they choose to use those. Say, in The Flesh the characters have just found out they are/have doppelgangers, so for one team the drastic measures were a matter of survival while for another it was fear of the unknown, and both teams acted on emotions because they didn't have much time to calm down and process everything properly. Extreme situations make people do things they wouldn't do in their sane mind, so there's no evil there. In ToA the clones were treated basically as expendable slaves or objects and suffered a lot, so while they participated in organized violent action, it was still easy enough to understand and sympathize with them. For Echo from TST it was a question of survival, too, and while I was uneasy at times about what she could do, most of her "crimes" stayed off the screen and we the listeners don't even know much about them. Were there any?.. Anyway, I couldn't bring myself not to have sympathy for her and was VERY pleased with her ending. And so on.

But Nico and the others had a looot of time to prepare for whatever. They don't tell what the danger is, exactly, which doesn't help trusting them at all. They act in cold blood. They attacked the base while getting the info about Alpha - could they just talk to Silas and co?The team could very well listen. Instead a lot of lives were lost, and they went specifically after Silas who wasn't even THAT thrilled with going down the Breaches in the first place and was already having second thoughts about this whole thing. So they seem very "rational" and bold but this, again, doesn't help their case.

So they hurt people who don't actually have to be hurt despite the fact that they have all the time to prepare. They don't care - or it seems so. And, again, they don't tell what exactly the danger of the final world is, so it's hard to judge if their actions are justified.

And the way they lead the demonstration. There wasn't even mocking, I think? Some sarcasm, sure, but it didn't feel like mocking. No one was supposed to laugh. It was a very casual and that's why all the more horrifying show of what they are not only capable of but actually do and will do. J was a low blow, but impersonating Silas to the point of "I become Silas Caldwell"? And Cass as the final and the most painful nail in the coffin? This isn't driving the point home, it's intentionally hurting another person for nothing. And part of why I felt so unsettled is because of how good they are at this. And how they just mercilessly shoved that into Silas' face. Like... The Echo in TST did that too, and it did feel a bit unsettling, but it was very different in every regard.

So doppelgangers/shifters? Great! Merciless other species who plan ahead and really just don't care who they hurt and use their abilities to a full potential? Honestly terrifying.

The remaining team Alpha seems to be in a very unfavorable position between three forces which don't see them as people, only the pawns.

I mean. Maybe Nico and co are going to be not only reluctant allies but actually value the team's lives and sanity. They seem to get along in present timeline, after all. I just don't see the point of psychologically torturing a person who has been complying with every word so far and showed to be nothing but willing to help, not faltering even when being held at the gunpoint. It seems to go overboard for just Nico freaking out because Cass made another deal.

All this is not a critique, by the way. I'm very impressed! It's so interesting!

I have sooooooooo many! (Also sorry it took me so long to answer this I didn't see my inbox)

I'm in so many fandoms and my brain is always thinking of found family or hurt comfort or fluff so it tends to all ruminate in my brain.

1-A Wildcards - a Persona x MHA crossover fic. I've started writing this one and it's in the works but the basic idea is, "what if ever persona protag is under one roof and all siblings and all are in school at the mha world." I have chapters and plans but it's hard to get fic motivation on this one at the moment. One of my theories also turned out right for MHA lore and I can't explain why but having my own theory proven right really took the wind out of my sails. XD

2. ff7 what if au - basically there's a theory me and a bunch of ppl online share where president Shinra has a bunch of bastard children and basically my fic idea is, "what if the bastards all grow up under one roof." So I'm currently doing research on characterizations for it. It's difficult for me to nail down Cloud's, Rufus', Evan's, and Lazard's personalities. I love Au's where ppl are brothers or grow up together. I don't have any plans for this other then the kids somehow help Genesis, Angeal, and Sephiroth not go insane but I can't figure out how I want to do that.

3. Simon Petrikov: Fionna and Cake Adventure Time drabbles - basically wanted to continue where Fionna and Cake leaves off and put Simon in the trauma cube where he gets to heal from his past. I also am a sucker when Trauma is blasted in 4k for everyone to see so the entire crew that cares for Simon also gets the trauma beam. I also realized Simon and Betty were never married so I decided that must be changed and wrote them a wedding. :)

4. Gohan's Wheel of Emotions - Another fic idea I've had for a few years now. I want to do a series where basically some kind of xyz machine goes wrong and Gohan gets split into a bunch of pieces and it becomes a race against time to put him back together. I was planning for his emotions to be wondering around. I want this to be teen era Gohan too because I'm a huge sucker for the Saiyaman ark. It's again just hard to find time to write it! I just want to write a cheezy little light hearted kind of self healing story.

5. TMNT turtle tot au - just a fun multicrossover baby adoption event. I'm currently writing this and have almost 2 chapters done! I love the idea of the 2003 turtles having a bunch of different aged turtles showing up at their doorstep. So they have to juggle sending everyone home while doing their best not to adopt anyone (spoiler alert the kids adopt THEM)

6. TMNT a KH/Tsubasa inspired story - I don't want to share too much on this plot but if you know about Kingdom Heart and Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles then you can get the idea of what if might be about. :)

7. TMNT brainrot drabble - currently working on this one but it's an 87 drabble fic that was inspired by season 5's finale. but now that I'm writing it (it's almost to 10k now) I REALLY want to have it go past the show finale too because MAN the last seasons of 87 are GREAT angst potential. I'm a huge sucker for hurt comfort and this entire fic is kind of like hurt comfort lite.

8. Hetalia - I have so much brain rot for Hetalia but I find it surprisingly hard to write for. I want to do a bunch of silly Hetalia fics about America and his super strength. I love that little idiot because he's MY adorable little idiot. The show is also just so cute and funny it is a big guilty pleasure of mine.

9. Lout of Count Family / LCF stupid idea - basically what if Cale Henituse can sing but he only sings the silliest dumbest songs ever in the history of Rowoon. That's it that's the fic.

10. I have a silly idea for a big multicrossover between all the korean light novels i've read and various manhwa and danmei novels. Like, "What if all systems have a chat function and it connects you to other system users." So it would just be a casual chatfic comedy.

 Scar (FullMetal Alchemist 2003)

Imagine not stanning this man.  I am not done with FMA 2003 and would not like spoilers, but I love it so far and love even more the Ishvalian screen time. I like his interactions with Al, the plot handling the Ishval thing much more thoughtfully. I like that when in lab 5, despite having every reason not to, he decide to give Ed a chance, wait and see what he’s gonna do, and you can see that faith pay off. I like his interactions with other Ishvalians, I like how much he’s confused about the whole thing, about the markings in his arm, and wtf his brother was up to.

Actually Satan ( Fate Stay Night : Unlimited Blade Works Abridged)

Clone Sakura (Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle)

QUEEN. UTTER QUEEN. I can’t believe that with a premise as misogynistic as “Soul get divided into parts so the heroine is weak and barely conscious most of the time and the Hero go on an adventure to collect them and save her” and missing most of her damn Self and with a Big Bad so actively messing with the protagonists’ agency she managed to rock the show so hard. She’s very kind, sincere, courageous, ressourceful, thoughtful, perceptive and love her found family very much. She’s also extremely ruthless when she wants to be and is shockingly one hell of a liar and played us the audience and in-universe characters like fiddles, honestly wouldn’t want to be in her way when she’s determined to do something, she’s also a hilarous drunk and all her screen-time is very enjoyable.

Gokudera Hayato (Katekyo Hitman Reborn)

Utter nerd. His passion for UMAs, details like the fact that he created his own script. He’s very dedicated to his duties, he’s very methodical in what he does (even teaching to swim lmao). He has trust issues the size of the titanic, he was insecure, has low self-esteem and little preservation instincts, and he had phenomenal character development and I am extremely proud of him.

Takigawa Yoshino (Zetsuen no Tempest)

A very adaptable boy. I could list all the traits that makes him great, but the reason he’s my fave is because he’s an utter mess, he fully belongs to the “-crush feelings with bare hands- as I was saying” category, it’s hard to describe exactly what makes him so compelling but there’s honestly too many to list. I love a lot of things about him, I like that he’s very in love with Aika, I love how good he’s at deceit and manipulation and hiding his feelings, I like that he’s a very supportive friends, I like that he said in the middle of apocalypse after everyone turned into stone  and a creepy gigantic fruit with eyes and chains emerged that he wouldn’t get a drink from the distributor without paying. I like that in the middle of their things he decided to switch side and attack Mahiro for the ownership of that magic gun just before Mahiro could seemingly attain his goal and Mahiro treat it like a temper tanthrum which says a lot of things about how he is off-screen.

Ogata Hyakunosuke (Golden Kamuy)

The blorbo to end all blorbos, canonical catboy, chronic backstabbing syndrome, like to cause problems, I should have put him in the top 10 and it is a crime that I didn’t do that but at this point it’s very clear this top 30 is not in the right order.

Tulip Olsen (Infinity Train)

I love pretty much every Infinity Train protagonist except, like, Simon, but Tulip hold a special place in my heart. I loved her development, I am utterly obsessed with the Mirror World bit, I love how she makes dubious hypothesis about what makes a number go down and keep a notebook about it, I love how at the end, despite her gate being available, she turns her back on it because she needs to help Atticus. She’s a character whose journey I definitely enjoyed

He seems a regular teenager who have ability to see spirits, and fall one day inside Yuuko's job, the Witch of Dimensions, and end up work for her as a price for don't see spirits anymore --- but end up inside various spiritual adventures, various hardships, and there is spoilers be exposed about who he is actually, since he is connected to Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle and appear sometimes.

I picked Watanuki Experience as an fancy name for my astral travels. For feeling exactly like him with high level of confusion, to discovering the spirit world (since first experiences had been mostly that, and most of time, it's focused on spirit communication), and I am expecting an plot twist at some point. Besides to simply empathizing with his relationship with Yuuko differently. Considering in consequence my bias on that boy inscreased high level and I'm so grateful to CLAMP of xxxHolic, it's an honoring title ! To the point it's good astral lessons, for have an philosophical & spiritual perspective on the dimensions of life.

At first, I wanted to write Syaoran's story first. But the central story of every season is about changing fate and saving Sonic, Punch, and Gilgamesh. Seasons 1-6 focus on Syaoran travelling(Also with Peter) showing many characters and many events, and concluding in season 9 why Sonic, Punch and Gilgamesh are important to the fate of the world and the universe and why they need to be saved. Until season 10 (Chapter 1 Vanish World) Punch takes the role instead of Syaoran and proceeded to the ending of season 11(Chapter3 The beginning of the miracle).

Gilgamesh guided Syaoran to walk this path. (Blame him later in the future) And Peter is like a fairy guiding Syaoran and protecting Syaoran.(With Tinker Bell) Gilgamesh and Peter have influenced the role from the beginning. (Warning contains Tsubasa Reservoir chronicle Spoilers)

Syaoran's first purpose just wanted to save Sakura and Clone Syaoran. Syaoran always thought this journey with his friends is his burden for what he did. He will find a way to find a cure for Sakura and Chester (Seasons 1-6). Syaoran still doesn't know what is await us but Syaoran has already given his life for this journey.

To for his love for Sakura and Chester.

Sonic: I told you before not to burden yourself

Syaoran: The golden man knew about this, that's why he sent me to rescue you, take care of you and he knew that you need to be protected.

But after season 7, Syaoran finally found his purpose in this journey and why Gilgamesh told him about Vaten Hörmulegt and told Syaoran to protect them. Sonic is a true answer for all of this. Because of the connection with Gilgamesh in the past. Syaoran became to care for Sonic a lot. Until Season 9, Syaoran finally knows how much important Sonic is. He's his everything. Sonic is hope. Sonic's existence did affect everything around him and why Syaoran never forget how important this journey is. Syaoran didn't want to lose someone that he love ever again.

Syaoran: I am who I am today because of you! I'm not going to give up on you! I'm not going to abandon someone I love! I'm going to save you I promise!

Sonic: ........!!

Peter is very much like Syaoran. He doesn't want to lose the person he loves and cares about the most. During the journey with Syaoran, Peter just wanted to know where Punch is. Peter too. He also thought this journey was just a sin and that he needed to be clear. The burden that he cannot escape even though he didn't know what he did in his previous life.

The feeling that Peter wants to save Punch is not different from what Syaoran want to save Sonic. This love is different from family and lovers. Not only does Syaoran just want to save Sonic, but his companion also loves Sonic as much as Syaoran do and wants to save him too. That's why Syaoran saw in his own eyes how much Sonic important is, even in this world rejecting his existence. Peter saw Syaoran as a reflection of his own. Even so, Peter want to save himself too, that's means he wanted to help Syaoran as well.

Syaoran regret everything for the decision he made and lost again. Even Syaoran meet again, he loses again. That's why in this Tsofph’ story. Syaoran nearly died and nearly couldn't save Sakura. Syaoran nearly lost Chester and Chester nearly lost himself(Even his heart). Syaoran nearly lost Sonic, his impotent adopt big brother. And had to make a painful decision to kill him for what was right(Sonic's existence did affect a lot.) Syaoran nearly lost Peter and nearly lost the friendship that he made with Peter. Syaoran almost lost Punch and Punch nearly lost herself and was unable to return to her normal life.

Syaoran becomes the leader of the group and shoulders the fate of 4 lives that will destroy time and space if they are not in control. That's why Sakura or Real Sakura said to Syaoran that it was too much dangerous. Sakura knew that fate cannot be stopped. Sakura chose to go with Syaoran and always be by Syaoran side even though she was cursed.

This scene that MajorLink made. This was the true feeling of Syaoran and Peter when they shoulder the burden that no one will understand. No one will save them. You could say this is the sad story of Syaoran and Peter.
