Fun to join, so why not! Wall of text incoming and links on the bottom! 🤩

1. I made a decision to try killing a popular character in a story, even though many readers might be put off by it and not want to continue reading. It made it interesting to see how the other characters were affected by it, and continue their own growth or deterioration because of it. Would I do it again? Yes. Yes I would.

2. I’ve been working on 8 different stories this year; multi chapters, stand-alones, and WIPs that have yet to see the light of day.

3. I’ve learned that I develop ideas much better when brainstorming them with a friend! 🥰

4. Since all I’ve written is Final Fantasy 7 fics, I’d have to say that FF7 Remake is the media that has inspired me the most.

5. I wrote exclusively for Final Fantasy 7 😂

6. Tifa/Reno is the ship nearest and dearest to my heart now and for always ❤️ However, during Whumptober I tried to include other rarepairs that I love, including Tifa/Leslie, Tifa/Zack and Tifa/Sonon!

7. Reno is a constant source of fascination and a muse for exploring different states of anguish, angst and hurt 😂 He therefore also needs some love sometimes.

8. I did not write for a new fandom this year, nor did I visit ships I haven’t previously written for.

9. I think that completing Momentary Bliss this year is what meant the most to me. It’s been three years in the making, and it was such bittersweet relief posting the epilogue 🥰

10. The fic it made me the happiest to work on must have been, ironically, the Whumptober prompts! Giving myself a challenge with a restricted word count per chapter of 100 words was so much fun, and it made me able to finish all 31 prompts, both due to my enthusiasm and each chapter not taking too long to complete!

11. Most satisfying to complete is again Momentary Bliss. Just in terms of completing something I worked on for so long, it was very rewarding!

12. I had a really hard time focusing around the time of Zifafest, so I was only able to finish one of the three prompts I wanted to, and I realize I find it really difficult to write Zack. Maybe that will change once Rebirth comes out 😅

13. Whumptober was the easiest to write 😂 I guess I could also say that parts of a series I’m working on that is not yet published can also classify as partly easy, due to it just being FUN!

14. Shortest: The epitome of a perfect package (2,448 words), and longest, at completion this year: Momentary Bliss (114,594 words) 😱

15. I guess my Fic Rec of mine from this year would have to be either Momentary Bliss or Whumptober, with my new longfic Safehouse a close second (third?😂).

16. Sad to say I don’t have a particular song or playlist to listen to while I write, although I listen to a lot of soundtrack music generally in the background. Hans Zimmer is a regular go-to.

17. Go-to writing snacks: A cup of Earl Grey tea, and something I can keep picking at, like Cheez Doodles or M&Ms. Maybe a couple of biscuits.

18. ALL OF THEM ARE HARD TO TITLE! Titles are the freakin bane of my existence. But if I have to choose one? The epitome of a perfect package.

19. Literally can’t choose, I’m not very good with great opening lines. Feels like I need a paragraph to set the scene.

20. “Ignoring the guilty ache in his chest telling him they were doomed, he held her tightly.” maybe. From the Whumptober 2023 drabbles.

21. Favourite piece of dialogue might be Reno’s conversation with Aurora di Salvo in Safehouse. Not gonna copy the whole thing in here 😂

22. An excerpt from one of my favourite scenes from 2023:

As he’s squatting low and trying to catch his breath, bullets are still hitting the car, and voices of encouragement and frustration spur the shooter on to continue.

Shrieks and shouting can vaguely be heard from the end of the street, and when he peeks that way, Reno sees people running away from the alleyway. The shooter across the street jumps out of the window and aims his gun Reno’s way as soon as his feet hit the ground.

What would Rude do in this situation? Fuck, Reno wants to bounce ideas off him, that’s how they work best: A terrible idea from Reno that Rude makes less so. Rude would probably lay low in this situation, get out while they could, reassess with Tseng and potentially move in on the mob together.

But Rude… They shot him. He wouldn’t get to be the reasonable voice in Reno’s head ever again. How the fuck would he avoid making mistakes now? Trusting himself? No, fuck that.

They couldn’t get away with this. Fuck this stakeout, fuck this being surveillance only, fuck the mob, fuck them and their fucking capo; they killed Rude and they would not get away with it.

A red haze falls around him and he unclasps his electric mag-rod, extending it with an effortless flick of his wrist. The electricity crackles satisfyingly with the push of a button, and the comforting feeling of the handle serves as an anchor to his new mission.

Reno takes a deep breath and feels a rage-filled calm come over him.

For Rude.

Then he runs.

23. Final version of a sentence or paragraph I struggled with:

Fear chokes him. What will he do if he can’t keep the shadows at bay this way? He must convince her otherwise.

It was really hard for me to properly convey anxiety and fear with the limited word count I had left of my drabble for the Alleyway prompt, and I had some help from @bouncymouse to make it convey more of the feeling I was going for! ❤️

24. Something that surprised me while working on a fic… Maybe having an epiphany about a plot point later in the story that would work really well (yet to be written or published)?

25. I use Notion to write, my phone notes to write down ideas during the day, and Google Docs to format before I publish to Ao3!

26. The most satisfying writing moment for me this year might be when I really got into the groove with Safehouse, and wrote down the first draft to 4-5 chapters in a very short amount of time (for me). The energy that comes from a new idea that just needs to come alive is really exciting!

27. I did not do anything special to celebrate completing a fic…. 😅

28. Recharging between fics for me is just about taking a break to refocus my head onto the new idea, or to find a new idea if I have nothing already thought up.

29. No one mentioned, no one forgotten! But as a whole, the beautiful people in the ReTi server and Tifa’s Harem who are supportive, enthusiastic and generally amazing to be able to communicate and cooperate with! ❤️

30. In 2024, I want to continue Safehouse, and get one of the WIP series I’m already working on published! If I have time to join another event, I’d like to try to do that too! 🤩

Diary of a Junebug

The Haunted Stone Castle of Woodhearst

Wild day today. We destroyed an old haunted castle - took it down brick by brick and watched it collapse. It was a bit...weird...for lack of a better word. Not exactly how I'd want to spend a day but it had to be done.

Pepper and Rain are an interesting duo. I don't know them too well as they're Jamie's friends - Pepper's a friend, Rain's more of an acquaintance - so it was kinda nice to have a solo adventure with them. I'm still not sure what to think of Rain though while Pepper is always a delight to hang out with.

Basically their relationship consists of the sunny, bubbly, and kinda naive one with the cynical, overly dramatic, and seemingly edgy one. You'd think they wouldn't get along well but they surprisingly do.

Rain is sorta like a phantom/elemental hybrid who was an ex-villain turned chaotic neutral. In other words, she's not easily defined as a good guy or a bad guy, she just does whatever the fuck she wants and as long as you're on her good side, you're fine. I don't necessarily trust her - no one really does other than Pepper - at least we know her actions are genuine, even if they only serve to benefit her. Meaning she won't take the time to talk to you unless she can make use of you, which can be a good or bad thing - usually a combo of both.

Believe it or not, Pepper is actually more of a mystery than Rain. She's not a magical being, though she obviously has expertise in the supernatural thanks to present company. No one's really sure how she and Rain came together as she literally remembers nothing about her life before that.

Pepper describes the beginning of her escapades with Rain like a dream. All she recalls is being lost in a giant mansion, trying to find her way out only to end up going in circles. It was like she was stuck in an unsettling dream and had no idea how to wake up. Then at some point she was trying to navigate a steep incline when she fell and hit her head. Next thing she knew, she opened her eyes and Rain was staring at her.

Although they had known each other for a while, they didn't really become friends until a couple years ago while working for F.I.E.N.D.S. They were assigned partners because no one else wanted to work with Rain and she was the only member Pepper knew at the time.

Pepper was the white sheep of F.I.E.N.D.S. - she never really fit in and really only joined because she didn't have anything else better to do. Likewise, Rain joined partly because she had a (justified) vendetta against someone F.I.E.N.D.S. was going after but mainly just to get access to various magical artifacts that require special clearance. When F.I.E.N.D.S. went too far and eventually fell, Rain and Pepper easily cut their losses and moved on.

The two finally bonded over an assignment by F.I.E.N.D.S. that went totally wrong. Apparently it was supposed to be "easy" but not only they failed to retrieve the mask, but they also caused a lot of property damage - the latter which was why they're rarely sent out on missions. They ended up learning a lot about each other during that mission, but that was only after Pepper accidentally revealed what the other agents really thought about Rain. Then in the chaos while attempting to retreat, Rain chose to save Pepper from being crushed to death instead of attempting to get the mask back.

Pepper defines that as the turning point of their friendship as Rain finally declared them "chaos buds", which was the name Pepper originally came up with. I can't think of any other name more fitting than that.

So today we traveled to the Haunted Stone Castle of Woodhearst. I still don't quite understand how transportation works in these areas - to be honest, I'm not sure if anyone really does. Something about random warp wormhole things that pop up randomly - you just gotta roll with it. As usual, Pepper's talking about a million words per second in an attempt to explain what's going on while Rain's doing magical stuff.

Pepper's so pure, even though I don't understand over half the stuff she says, I can listen to her go on and on because of her enthusiasm. Rain may act like she's disinterested but she does listen to Pepper's ramblings and sometimes tries to make sense of them for us.

I think since jumping ship with F.I.E.N.D.S. they have been more carefree and open, free to dilly dally and banter all they want without an agent breathing down their neck. That was what Pepper wasn't too crazy about - all the red tape and restrictions that comes from being an agent, or a henchman as she puts it.

Literally, all we had to do was to bulldoze the castle - except we only had a bunch of sledgehammers. It was falling apart anyway so that made things a little easier. Since the stones are enchanted with some sort of druid magic, we had to use enhanced tools so we don't accidentally awaken an old curse or something. There's also a specific way of disposing the bricks, which involved putting them into a special type of bag and then printing out a label - basically there's guidelines and rules for destroying cursed castle ruins.

As for why we're taking the castle down, I'm not exactly clear on that. Part of it's because of potential safety hazards since the walls are crumbling - another's due to complicated druid stuff that may lead to disaster if left unchecked. Anyway, whatever the reason, we get a pretty hefty reward for the task so it was worth the effort - at least for Pepper and Rain.

It was Pepper who insisted on getting help for the mission as it would take forever for just the two of them to do it. Jamie was obviously their first choice, but she's pretty much booked for a long while so she suggested me and the campers. Like I said, not the type of adventure I'd go for, but I'm open to trying something new and different.

Tearing down castle walls was kinda therapeutic to my surprise. It's a lot of heavy work, but it also feels kinda satisfying. Why use a stress ball when you can just destroy a bunch of old ruins? It was a bit scary at first with the falling debris but as long as you keep your distance, it's actually kinda fun - like one of those oddly satisfying videos. Watching the walls crumble and fall like a bunch of dominoes is something I'd never thought I would find interesting.

As usual, Pepper was a delight to listen to, her stories and ramblings helped to pass the time. Through the rubble, Rain would find an old artifact and the two would get excited over it - seeing them act like little kids discovering something for the first time was fun as well. Though I'm kinda concerned as to what happens if they managed to get one of those artifacts to work.

Believe it or not, no magical shenanigans happened. In a way, it feels way too good to be true. I feel like there's a catch somewhere - probably something to do with whatever artifacts Rain recovered. If chaos did happen after we left, I'm kinda glad that I'm not in the middle of it. Besides, for Pepper and Rain, magical shenanigans are just another day for them.

I don't mind getting caught up in shenanigans once in a while, but in the case of Pepper and Rain, it's best to let them do their own thing. As much as I find Pepper fun with her quirks and bubbly personality, she can be a bit much to deal with. As for Rain, if it wasn't for Pepper, I can't see myself interacting with her much. Maybe that'll change later on but for now I just can't seem to find a connection with her outside of Pepper.

While those two were hunting for artifacts, I was looking for anything that might tell me a bit about the castle. I didn't find much, which was to be expected.

One interesting thing I found looks like what I think is a travel log or something. It's in pretty bad condition as the writing's mostly faded and the pages are tattered. From what I can make out, a lot of the entries have to do with various travels in a place called Marva Harbor. It looks like a record of what the person did like activating an old shrine, fishing at the dock, fighting off a ruin guard, and running errands at the market.

Now that leads to many more questions about the castle. Who once resided in these halls? What caused the castle to become haunted? And what about Marva Harbor? Does it still exist today? So many questions, so little answers - if any.

Standing in the middle of what remains of the stone castle, it's an unsettling feeling. Destroying something that once stood and watching it crumble to oblivion - it really makes you feel aware of the passage of time.

I wonder what will happen to the camp long after I'm gone. Will it still be there? Will nature reclaim it? What will people think of it when they pass by?

Insufferable (But Important)

my second fic for @badthingshappenbingo! this is actually the first one i started to work on upon receiving my card but i get some done quicker than others- bingo card and fic under the cut <3

summary: Roman's still running on adrenaline when he returns to the mindscape after almost four days in the imagination. When he finally crashes, Logan's there with a box of bandages, a couple of fun science facts and a few reassuring sentiments.

“I'm telling you, Logan, I don’t feel that bad at all.”

Logan huffs with frustration as he examines the very real-looking wounds on Roman’s abdomen. The prince had just stumbled in from the imagination in the middle of the night; Logan was waiting outside the magical door as per Virgil’s and Patton’s request, as it had been a while. A while, or, in Logan’s words, three days, seventeen hours and thirty-six minutes. Upon catching the glimpse of red, and the red wasn’t just from the sash, he immediately felt a twinge of hurt just looking at him.

"You’re likely still experiencing an adrenaline rush.” The logical trait tries to keep his voice as steady and level as ever, but even he knows what’s particularly gruesome to look at. “I'll warn you, after some time your adrenaline levels will deplete rapidly and you’re going to feel a lot of pain. Let me know when it does.”

Roman makes a non-committal sound, clearly not believing that there’ll be a crash at all. "I can handle it.”

There’s a short silence as Logan simply continues to clean up the injuries on the man sitting on the kitchen counter before him. Then, he sighs. "Care to explain what happened to you?”

At least the sound of Roman recalling the story gives Logan something else to focus on while he prepares rolls of bandages and checks elsewhere around the body for cuts and bruises. He imagines how the other sides would react to finding out about Roman’s injuries; Patton would stay by his side for weeks and fret like a worried parent, Virgil would probably try to ban Roman from the imagination (the imagination only belongs to the creative sides, but Virgil is ever persistent), Janus would only pretend not to be bothered whilst still insisting about the importance of self-care and side-eyeing Roman from a distance, and Remus would… well, it’s difficult to predict Remus. He could do anything, from showing a sudden brotherly empathy and being softer with him to starting a competition on who can get even more wounds. Probably the latter.

Logan’s attention is brought back to Roman as he catches his words faltering. The prince’s shoulders start to tremble and he hunches over, wincing, suddenly exhausted.

"Are you okay, Roman?” He skips the ‘I told you so’ comment, figuring that it wouldn’t be received well. Roman just exhales shakily in response; taking the time to tell the tale must’ve calmed him down and caused the crash to happen. Logan frowns when he sees the tears quickly gathering in Roman’s eyes. "You’re going to be okay soon. Just take it easy, alright? No more imagination adventures until you’re fully healed.”

The attempt at a laugh that Roman makes comes out breathy and is accompanied by a new pair of tear tracks running down his face. "Fair enough.” The laugh morphs into a snivel, and Roman rubs at his eyes in an attempt to save face, shrug it off, it’s fine. But Logan’s looking at him with softened eyes, his hand still touching the gauze he just applied to Roman’s side, a delicate but grounding touch that starts the waterworks all over again, and oh god, he just looks so un-princely and he’s breaking down in front of someone who he’s just always wanted to be good enough for. Roman waits for the condescending words, the scoffs, the sound of disinterested footsteps fading away from him…

But none of that happens. Instead, he feels Logan’s other hand rest on his knee, tracing circles with his thumb. "It’s okay to cry, Roman. Crying releases endorphins into the bloodstream, and they act like a natural painkiller.” The logical trait gives a tiny smile for reassurance. Something about him in that moment makes him look oddly adorable, like he’s just trying to help in the way he knows how, and that lessens the excruciating pain just a little. "Emotional comfort is not my area of expertise, you’re better off asking Patton for that, but just know that I…” Logan shifts his glance to the side as his cheeks start to tinge a bashful pink. “I'm here for you. You may be insufferable, but it troubles me to see you hurt, and when you didn’t come back after a day I was considering going looking for you. It was Janus who made me stay, just in case it was dangerous.”

That chokes Roman up a little more, but in a better way. He knows just how reluctant Logan usually is to go into the imagination, so the thought of him willingly going in there just to find him…

"Thanks.” Roman meets Logan’s gaze. "Thank you. It… It means a lot, coming from you.”

Logan moves his hand away from Roman’s waist to adjust his glasses absentmindedly, then nods kindly. "It’s quite alright. Let’s get you to somewhere more suitable to rest and change you into some less restrictive clothing.”

After some shuffling about from the both of them, Roman finally lands his feet back on the floor with a grimace. Being careful not to grab anywhere that’d hurt, Logan steadies him and starts to walk with him to the creative side’s room. It takes some time with Roman’s sudden lethargy and exhaustion, but he perseveres only at the thought of being able to rest in his own bed for the first time in days, and that persistence overrides the shooting pain in his feet from walking through his imaginary world for so long in those uncomfortable boots of his. He should really create something with memory foam.

He’s practically a dead weight when it comes time for him to change his clothes, but weirdly enough Logan doesn’t complain or simply leave him to it; he’s helping him. The top half of Roman’s outfit had already been removed on arrival as Logan wanted to check the damage, but that was all. Now, the injured prince who’s teetering on the border of slumber has to change entirely into something more comfortable, and he barely has the energy to use his instant outfit-swapping magic, so he leaves it to Logan. Just two minutes later, Roman’s wearing a considerably less regal looking combination of loose shorts and a baggy red shirt, but at least it feels nicer than the usual outfit that was tugging against the most painful areas of his body and was such a pain to remove, and now he’s going to have to repair that when he’s better rested and—

“Roman.” Logan crouches in front of the bed to meet his eyes. “I'd avoid falling asleep with that posture, you’ll hurt your neck.”

A small smile reaches Roman’s lips. "I wasn’t falling asleep, just thinking.” Upon a puzzled look from Logan, he continues. "You’re, uh… taking care of me. I never thought you’d…” He trails off, unsure of how to finish his sentence, unsure in general.

"You never thought I'd care about your wellbeing? Roman, you’re—” Logan seems to catch himself before he can show any kind of emotional outburst, inhaling slowly before continuing quietly. "You’re important. Not just to Thomas, and the rest of the sides, and Thomas’ audience, but to me. I might come across like I don’t like you or appreciate any of the ideas you create, but that’s just because our intentions for Thomas are so different. Roman, while you were gone, yes, Virgil was incredibly stressed and Patton constantly asked me if I thought you were coming back soon, but as for myself… I— I missed… having you around.”

The look on Logan’s face appears almost sad, like he doesn’t want Roman to leave again, and the prince quickly tries to suppress the new wave of tears. He pats the spot next to him on the bed to encourage the logical trait to sit next to him. "I missed you too. There were moments in there, as I fought some of the hardest battles, that I thought perhaps I wouldn’t make it back.” He could’ve sworn he saw a flash of panic on Logan’s face, but as quickly as it’s there, it’s gone as he composes himself again, always able to control his exterior so easily. "But I persevered, because who else was Virgil gonna listen to rock music with? Who else was Patton gonna bake with? Who else were you gonna call insufferable?” Roman’s lips quirk upwards, and finally Logan returns the smile, if only for a short while. "Seeing you, waiting for me as I returned, it lifted my spirits.”

The remnants of that smile tug at Logan’s lips as he hums shortly but fondly. "That’s good to hear. I was waiting for quite a while, y’know.”

"Oh, I do hope you didn’t hurt your back from sitting too long, specs.” Roman playfully teases him and nudges his shoulder, although his laugh is a little subdued by the dull pain in his own spine.

Logan rolls his eyes, but he still looks amused. "Well, it is vital that we make sure you’re fully rested, so I'll leave you be.”

The smiles leave Roman’s eyes for a moment. "Can’t you stay?” He holds out one hand, earning a look of confusion from Logan. "This is kinda the part where you start to leave and then I grab your wrist and ask you to stay for the night. …Oh come on, it’s a cliche, Calculator Watch.” The harmless snarkiness dances on his tongue, but it seems to be the slightly saddened look in his eyes that could only come from someone whose muscles are aching like there’s no tomorrow to really perfect his persuasion.

Logan huffs at that last remark, but still manoeuvres the both of them until they’re underneath the patchwork quilt on Roman’s bed. "You know that I don’t catch onto cliches very well.” Still, a feeling of contentment arises in his chest as he removes his glasses and places them on the nightstand before turning onto his side to face Roman. "Is this okay?”

Roman takes a blissful moment to fully absorb the image of Logan without his glasses, captures the sight of subtle shadows under his eyes and how the colour of his irises looks so much more beautiful up close. He reaches to turn off the bedside lamp and drapes one arm over Logan’s waist, pulling him closer to his chest as fatigue from his adventure finally catches up to him.

"Wonderful.”

Vivid, quirky Sherlock POV in the text + excellent use of music and sound in the pod = an extra-charming podfic. Use headphones to get the full audio experience!

More Things Than Are Dreamt Of series - 1electricpirate, read by @consultingsmartarse | consulting_smartass - 38k, 1hr, M to E, John/Sherlock (Harry Potter fusion AU) “In which John is (reluctantly) a wizard, Mycroft is (apparently) omniscient, and Sherlock is (surprisingly) oblivious.” Hands-down my favorite Potterlock fic, and consulting_smartass' podfics are nuanced and immersive -- I've listened to them countless times now.

Sussex - SilentAuror, read by consulting_smartass - 26k, 3hrs, E, John/Sherlock “John can’t seem to stop touching Sherlock. He can push the anger away, but sometimes he just needs to take Sherlock’s pulse again. Slight angst, case-fic, post-Reichenbach.” Ah, nothing like realistic emotional constipation on the parts of our heroes. This was one of the first podfics I loved enough to download so that I'd always have access to it.

I avoided this fic for YEARS because I hate Faust, so I was extremely pleased to discover that the inspiration is VERY loose and thus, the fic, and the pod version, is lovely and incredibly immersive.

Carry On - Mazarin221b, read by consulting_smartass - 4k, 35min, M, John/Sherlock "Five times John didn't want to be carried, and one time he did." One of my favorite 5+1 fics, and a perfectly paced short pod.

Left - lifeonmars, read by consulting_smartass - 45k, 5hrs, E, John/Sherlock, magical realism AU "John Watson is left-handed. He’s tried not to let it affect his life, but as any Lefty knows, that’s almost impossible." Honestly, consulting_smartass' talent has broadened my fanfic horizons, because while I'm generally not keen on reading AUs (especially long ones), I'm amenable to listening to them -- and so I don't miss out on fantastic fics & performances like this one.

The Girlfriend Experience, rageprufrock, read by dodificus - 9k, 2hrs, E, Dean/Castiel “While it’s not like Dean hasn’t had a couple of truly regrettable hit-and-runs in his sexual history, this is probably the saddest fucking thing that has ever happened to him.” Sometimes, when a podficcer's accent is different than the accents in the source material, it just works in ways you wouldn't have expected-- this pod is one of those times.

The Company - Rulerofthefakeempire, read by @dr-fumbles-mcstupid | Dr_Fumbles_McStupid and RsCreighton - 2k, 11min, T, Dirk/Todd "He’s imagined this moment so often that it feels like he just doing it again, waking up with a hangover next to Dirk Gently. And Dirk’s naked." A quietly funny fic, and a quietly funny performance.

Interrogation - goingtoalaska, read by Dr_Fumbles_McStupid - 2k, 13 min, G, Dirk/Todd "Of course Dirk has some extremely important questions that can only be asked in the middle of the goddamn night, obviously." Almost entirely dialogue, and really captures the ridiculous-with-an-undercurrent-of-softness vibe of these two characters.

There's Only One Sure Thing That I Know - leah k (blinkiesays), read by exmanhater - 20k, 2hrs, E, Dean/Castiel "Dean doesn't even get halfway through explaining before Bobby starts laughing. When he lets himself think about it for more than five seconds, Dean can almost see Bobby's point: he's faced down demons, witches, vampires, werewolves, ghosts, angels, and Satan himself and now he's been defeated by the God damn Midwest." This podfic is a road-trip standby for me and my Destiel-shipping wife.

A Statue Strong Enough for Two - lady_ragnell, read by exmanhater - 39k, 3hrs 30min, E, Elena/Mithian, superhero AU "Elena is a street-level superhero. A visit from an old enemy forces her to step up and see what she might have to do with the Sidhe who invaded and were sent away twenty years ago. Luckily, she has fellow superheroes to back her up, and a new girlfriend in her regular life to make things feel more normal." In addition to encouraging me to try out AUs, podfic also encourages me to try out rarepairs--I wouldn't have thought to look for fic about these characters, but I'm so glad I stumbled across & listened to this one.

Lab Book - copperbadge, read by FayJay - 5k, 40min, E, John/Sherlock “'The likelihood of finding a cab on Christmas Eve is fast approaching nil.’ 'So was the likelihood of you kissing me in the middle of the pavement, and yet.’” An annual holiday read/listen!

Whatever Remains, However Improbable - ivyblossom and Loudest_Subtext_in_Television, read by @fffinnagain | finnagain - 13k, 90min, T, John/Sherlock “The evidence is all there: we know it’s bound to happen. Sherlock Holmes and John Watson are going end up together, aren’t they? Obviously!” An experiment in fourth-person omnitemporal tense. Subtle sound effects add dimension to this podfic.

Diversionary Tactics - shinysherlock, read by finnagain - 2k, 16min, E, Molly/Irene, historical AU "Oh. This could be interesting. Irene’s fingers moved to the third button of the dress and paused. 'Shall I just . . . check the rest of you, then? Make sure you’re quite all right?'" A brief, hot, historical PWP, Mollrene style. UNF. Finnagain's performance is very...impassioned--maybe don't listen in public ;)

Seeing Draco Malfoy - khalulu, read by fire_juggler - 12k, 2hrs, E, Harry/Draco A beautifully done podfic, delivered with warmth and humor. Once I listened to it twice in one week and wound up with the phrase “Nubbumping Humdinger” stuck in my head, and it made me bust out smiling at random times :-)

Let Nothing You Dismay - montparnasse, read by Hananobira - 19k, 2hrs, M, Sirius/Remus "There are a few things Sirius really didn't count on for Christmas of 1979. The extreme sexual confusion is one of them; Remus Lupin is approximately seventy-eight of the rest." There’s a full-on, sensory vividness to the imagery and descriptions in montparnasse's writing, and LISTENING to those words makes the experience even more immersive.

Splendid Night - Katie Forsythe, read by heuristicdevice - 14k, 1hr 30min, M, Holmes/Watson "A Christmasy spin on MILV with a heart-warming dose of H/W." So much miscommunication! I love this fic so hard, and I ESPECIALLY love the podfic. Heuristic Device’s rendering of “now, please,” in a Certain Scene is both quiet and full of feeling, while other sections of the story are infused with audible humor, excitement, and heartbreak, each as they’re called for.

Stately Homes of Wiltshire - waspabi, read by @lazulus - 57k, 6hrs, E, Harry/Draco "Malfoy Manor has mould, dry rot and an infestation of unusually historical poltergeists. Harry Potter is on the case." Fair warning that listening to this podfic whilst walking my dog led to funny looks from strangers, because it caused me to laugh at loud for no apparent reason.

A Brand of Gold - aquabelacqua, read by @lockedinjohnlock-podfics | Lockedinjohnlock – 12k, 2hrs, M, John/Sherlock “What am I doing? he wondered. The answer came back at once: Flirting.” This fic is just plain beautiful, and the pod is one of my favorite performances by Lockedinjohnlock.

Points - lifeonmars, read by Lockedinjohnlock - 54k, 7 hrs, E, John/Sherlock "What if His Last Vow never happened? This fic picks up a few months after John and Mary's wedding, in an alternate universe where Magnussen doesn't exist, but Mary is still pregnant. Life continues -- just in a different direction. And slowly, Sherlock and John find their way to each other." Picture it: yours truly, driving alone and terrified through darkness, rain, and heavy traffic…and yet unwilling to turn off this podfic. THAT’S how deep lifeonmars and Lockedinjohnlock took me into this story.

Midnight Plowboy - weeesi, read by Lockedinjohnlock - 5k, 44min, E, John/Sherlock “'Does it feel like I’m sure?' John whispers into Sherlock's ear. Sherlock swallows again." In which John discovers Sherlock's collection of vintage gay erotica. *imagine several fire emojis here*

Half a Dozen Dances - CeruleanDarkangelis, read by Lockedinjohnlock - 19k, 2.4 hrs, E, John/Sherlock "'Seriously? You? You're going to be a stripper?' John tried to keep the amused incredulity off his face. Judging by the disgruntled look Sherlock gave him, he was not entirely successful in this endeavor.'" Typically, stripper fics are just Not My Thing, but the use of music in this podfic sold me.

(Never) Turn Your Back to the Sea - DiscordantWords, read by Lockedinjohnlock - 40k, 5hrs, M, John/Sherlock "Baker Street is very much the same. Only different. And Sherlock is just trying not to drown." The way the author & podficcer capture Sherlock's voice in this fic feels SO TRUE: his shattered hubris, his desperate resistance to vulnerability, and the believable way he and John finally get through it all.

Senza Catene - Mad_Lori, read by @oncomingtragedy - 6k, 1hr, T, John/Sherlock "Sherlock has a secret hobby. One night John follows him to find out what his flat mate is up to and gets the surprise of his life." The one where Sherlock sings opera--cracky but oh-so-enjoyable. The podfic performance includes several musical interludes.

All Life is Yours to Miss - Saras_Girl, read by originally reads - 114k, 11 hrs 20 min, M, Harry/Draco "Professor Malfoy's world is contained, controlled, and as solitary as he can make it, but when an act of petty revenge goes horribly awry, he and his trusty six-legged friend are thrown into Hogwarts life at the deep end and must learn to live, love and let go." Another one I might have missed (due to personal impatience) if not for the miracle of podfic! The pod is well-performed, and the slower listening process makes the resolution feel even more satisfying.

The Price We Pay for Wings - Frayach, read by @raitala - 13k, 80min, M, Harry/Draco "Scorpius Draconis Eltanin Malfoy read the first book in the Alford Ocamy series over Christmas hols when he was eleven. Well, he didn’t so much “read” it as he devoured it." I've recced this a million times before, and I'll keep reccing it because I CRIED ACTUAL LITERAL TEARS LISTENING TO THIS. 10/10 would be devastated by again.

i don't wanna give you up (i don't wanna let you love somebody else but me) - notcaycepollard, read by @revolutionaryjo - 3k, 20min, E, Erin/Jillian "Erin Gilbert is not the second or even the fifth straight girl Jillian’s ever fallen for, and it’s kind of getting to be a problem, except when she sees Dr Erin Gilbert, she thinks, maybe, this woman might be a statistical outlier." Closely observed, funny, hot, and the narrative voice is p e r f e c t (both in the text and in the podfic performance).

The Temporal Tornado - novembersmith, read by RevolutionaryJo and Lunate8 - 3k, 37min, G, Carlos/Cecil "A temporal tornado reduced our most beloved scientist, Carlos, into a darling little toddler version of his already darling self, didn’t it? Yes it did, oh yes it did! Plus, a jellyfish migration is underway, a mysterious series of unexplained crevasses are appearing in the streets of Night Vale, and valuable advice is provided on the care and feeding of children." Audio is the only logical format for a Night Vale fic like this one :)

Common Woodbrown - imochan, read by RevolutionaryJo - 36k, 3hrs 40 min, M, Remus/Sirius "'Look well into thyself; there is a source of strength which will always spring up if thou wilt always look there.' In 1985, Remus Lupin realizes that Sirius Black is innocent. Now, he just has to prove it." Both author and podficcer create a sensitive rendering of the angst, fragility, and determination of Remus Lupin.

Sentiment to Paper - mistyzeo, read by RickyPulsifer - 7k, 57min, E, Holmes/Watson "No fewer than three times by the winter of 1883 had I heard Sherlock Holmes disparage the ways of lovers and their irrational tendencies toward writing letters. With this often and loudly-expressed opinion in mind, I was very surprised indeed to find a stack of unsent, unsealed letters in a drawer in his desk." RickyPulsifer’s podfic is a quiet wonder of smooth pacing, emotive delivery, and thoughtful production.

All right, it doesn’t come right out and say that on the website. But Sherlock can read between the lines.” Verity Burns' delivery nails both the snark and the sweetness of this fic.

First Night Out - verityburns, read by the author - 3k, 22min, M, John/Sherlock “As John recovers from the effects of a brutal kidnapping, he and Sherlock attend the Yarders’ Christmas Party. There are… developments on the dance floor…” I loved this fic for YEARS before I listened to the podfic and realized that the audio version–read by the author herself–makes it exponentially more charming and more intimate.

US MINT WEBSITE CRASHES again - refresh screen For the next 15 minutes tens of thousands of people were dealing with the same problem on the United State Min website with the site crashing and having to be reloaded over and over and over again. Many tried and failed to purchase the 2019 American Silver Eagle - Enhanced Reverse Proof but only 30,000 were successful. All 30,000 coins ended up selling out in approximately 15 and 20 minutes.

US MINT WEBSITE Goes Down - Oops.... Something went wrong.

US MInt Website Crashes - Error Message We Secured 5 Coins out of the 26 People That Tried to Buy the Enhanced Reverse Proof ASE's Needless to say despite all of our groups experience and tips in buying high demand US Mint coins like the 2019 Enhanced Reverse Proof American Silver Eagle we were only able to secure 5 coins out of the 26 people that were trying to get one. Due to the website constantly crashing having to be reloaded 25-50 times throughout the entire purchase process, the coin and bullion community is outraged with the US Mint's lack of action. As a member of the bullion community I am BEGGING you to fix the US Mint Website. There has to be a better way.

Order Confirmation - 2019 Enhanced Reverse Proof American Silver Eagle My Conclusion on the US Mint's Doo Doo Website I've been buying coins and bullion since 1997. Everyone I know that has purchased coins through the US Mint website has had a bad experience at one time or another when buying one of these high demand coins. 💖”Star🌠Gazing”💖 Part 3 (and NOT the finale....yet)

Well, this is gonna take longer than I thought to get to the very end and it’s gonna be a “breather episode” but I hope you’ll still enjoy this!

Tommy’s POV/Story (You get the drill)

Years after the event, Sanjay and Craig predictably finding themselves separated by region; Craig was a soldier in the nation of In-Between, fighting in the raging war between the nicktoons and the Cartoon Network while in the meantime Sanjay was serving as the late Spongebob and Patrick’s bodyguard and trusted knight in the mother country; I had no idea how Craig felt about his new job (must have had a heck of a time wrangling those troublemakers though!) but I could tell Sanjay was very bittersweet about his new position, while he was proud to take care of the two princes, he felt sad about having to be separated from the one who loved him the most and while he was a proud knight, fighting off any baddies who would assassinate, rob or threaten the princes and wouldn’t be afraid of bragging about how tough he was for his age, I’d sometimes hear him softly crying in his chamber every night about Craig~ I felt bad and decided to comfort him one night.

Rubbing his back, I whispered: “Hey now, don’t cry.”

Sanjay, with his messy hair and wide, tearful eyes looked up at me and replied: “How can I be happy without him? he was so nice to me....he was the most wonderful person I’ve ever met...why do I feel this way?....we’ve only been with each other for days on that ship and I’m so close to him.....”

“You know, when me and Helga left to find recruits, me and Kimi felt the exact same way you do, in fact, on the very day we set sail I reached into my pocket and gave Kimi a beautiful charm as a promise of me returning....and uh if you’re wondering what that feeling is called, its 💕.”

“💕?....that sounds nice.....I like the sound of 💕.....you know, Craig told me we’d be reunited again some day....”

“A very good sign all around that you two are a perfect pair, I wish the best for you two, now let’s get some shuteye.”

The morning that followed was pretty calm, I freshened myself up, got myself a warm latte and sharpened up my screwdriver sword to welcome a new day but when I got out of my chamber, all bell broke loose! the princes hid in the throne room in fear, the hounds (descendants of Spike btw) went mad and started barking up a storm, alarms where activated and screaming was heard; it must be those pesky hooligans at the Cartoon Network again.

I threw on my armor, grabbed my sword and marched outside roaring out: “JUST WHAT IN THE NAME OF ARLENE AND GABOR IS GOING ON HERE!?”

What was going on in the name of Arlene and Gabor was not pretty; I saw Lori and Rambamboo tackling a familiar face from some time ago, but it was a little hard to tell because he couldn't get up and walk and was covered with bruises and blood so I couldn't put my finger on it until he opened his mouth.

“I NEED TO-!” *SLAP!*

“Shut your mouth, the queen’s gonna have an aneurysm if she sees an intruder like you hiding in her garden!”

“And then we’ll get in trouble with her!”

“I NEED TO SEE SANJAY, ALRIGHT!?”

I felt like a bolt of lightning went through my body and shocked all my innards; it was Craig, who have appeared to have been beaten to a pulp to be kept silent; luckly Helga came to the rescue to break it up and scold the two while I dealt with Craig in a nice, private place away from the palace.

“Dude, I’m really sorry you got beaten up by the guards...”

“That’s okay, as long as I get to see Sanjay again, all will be fine.”

“But if you get into the castle chock full of surveillance, Angelica would kill you no matter if you where a nicktoon from the start! she hates anyone who isn’t a resident of the mother country or has left for somewhere else.”

“But....I promised Sanjay....that I would return.....and we could be happy together...”

“Maybe we can arrange a private meeting.”

“Where?”

“Somewhere Angelica and her goons can’t get you, that’s for sure!”

“You think the beach would be a good place?”

“Bikini Upward? the place Patrick and Spongebob where found? of course, its hailed as a sanctuary for those with families separated by the two regions and even though she allows mother-country nicktoons to go there, Angelica won’t touch it because she’s envious of the very thought of Spongebob and Patrick stealing her throne...did I mention the hotel there has excellent service?”

“Sounds good, I’ll sneak to that beach and you can invite Sanjay there so we can meet today.”

“Okie then, what time?”

“3pm sharp.”

“Sounds good mate, see you there!”

“Thanks, I owe you one.”

And with that, Craig became a snake again and slithered out of reach before the magic would wear off again; later on Sanjay got his luggage, took my hand and I drove him to the shores of Bikini Upward and let me just tell you that nobody was not joking when they said it was a sanctuary, the sand was crisp and warm, the cool waves where all sorts of blue/teal/green shades, all sorts of toons there where having a blast over there!

“I’ll go change, be right back Tommy-sama!” Sanjay laughed and rushed to one of the booths.

“Okay then.” I replied, smiling.

Craig eventually arrived in his human form, wearing a Hawaiian shirt, dark green swim trunks, a straw hat and sunglasses, while his scars where still visible somewhat, he was in much better shape than before; “Tommy, buddy, did he show up?”

“He’ll be out in a minute, he’s changing into his swim wear~ imagine how happy he’s gonna be when he sees you again?”

“I bet he’ll have-”

“THE BEST DAY EVER!!” Sanjay cheered as he ran to Craig, hugging him.

“Sanjay, my man, how are you!?” Craig hugged him back and blushed noticed the cutesy red bottoms he wore, plus a lei and a starfish adorned on his head.

“Doing fine!”

I chuckled, telling the two: “Tell you what? I’ll treat you two birds and myself with our own surfboards and I’ll pay for all three of ‘em! sound good?”

the two nodded in agreement and followed me to a small shack offering them; it was chock-full of ‘em in all sorts of colors, shapes and sizes~ it was like a house of mirrors you’d see at a fair or carnival except if you replaced them all with surf boards! I have pectus excavatum and I live in Marshalltown Iowa. I want to get a cosmetic procedure done called the nuss procedure. Most insurance companies say they cover this surgery. I know for a fact that my condition is severe enough that I could get the procedure done.
