still livid that an able-bodied trans person thought it was appropriate to minimize the harm of having your only safe bathroom be treated as exclusively for sex by people who don't need it to my fucking face, and did not apologize at any point including when i explicitly called them out and explained why that was harmful.
i'm visibly trans, and i'm also clocky. i haven't passed as cis anything since i was maybe twelve. i fully understand how hard it is to use public bathrooms as a trans person and how dangerous and painful it can be. i am still 100% more able to use a gendered bathroom than i am to get in a stall smaller than my wheelchair.
but for some reason not being able to piss is only a problem when it primarily affects white able-bodied trans people.
also, it's worth noting that disabled stalls are disproportionately used by immunocompromised people and having sex in them actively puts them in danger. having sex in any stall can put people at risk, but do you not see how it is especially fucked up to do it in a place where people whose bodies can't fight STIs are more likely to be? people who can't just pick another stall if you leave a mess, because this is the only one with a grab bar?
y'all will get annoyed when gender neutral bathrooms are treated as spots to fuck or use drugs but when it's physically impossible for disabled people to use non-disabled stalls, it's magically fine to misuse our accessibility features and crack jokes about it because it's you depriving us of our most basic rights, and you're queer, so actually it's fine and the fussy cripples need to shut up, right?
the sex we're having in your accessibility feature is a gay foursome, so it's hilarious! we painted our stairs rainbow, so stop complaining that there isn't a ramp!
[edit: this post is the context, i didn't think this would breach containment. i was a fool]

Have another fucking surgery on Friday, but at least it’s not inpatient
Won’t be able to walk again, school is going to be hell
Hopefully I don’t need to be on meds as long

Should look into getting both of these, because it’s not easy to brush my teeth, and I need to take care of it.
Okay listen I have another disability related thing that’s important!!
If you have any disabilities linked to tooth decay/erosion, through direct cause or secondary symptom, it is vital that you get one or both of the following items: Sensodyne toothpaste and enamel repair mouthwash
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This includes health conditions such as acid reflux, diabetes, thyroid conditions, fibromyalgia, chronic pain & mental illnesses such as depression that create poor hygiene routines, sensory issue disorders like autism and ADHD, and any health condition that causes frequent vomiting / increased stomach acid, including eating disorders and migraines.
All of these disabilities will erode the enamel of your teeth, not only opening you up to cavities but making it very easy to chip your teeth from such simple things as biting the wrong way on the tines of a fork. (I’ve chipped my teeth at least 4 times this way).
The toothpaste on the left here (sensodyne pronamel) is gentle on your teeth, won’t cause painful sensations from any extreme mint flavor, and will even protect your gums if they’re sensitive from any of these conditions.
The mouthwash on the right (Crest enamel repair) will, as it says, repair your enamel — which is marvelous, because the technology to repair your enamel at all is relatively very new to society! — but it is most importantly non-alcoholic. Meaning that it works well as a once-a-day rinse without any of the burning sensations of antiseptics that typically discourage people with sensory issues from taking care of their teeth.
I know remembering to do these things every day can feel like a lot when you’re sick and exhausted, but I promise a collective three minutes out of every day is going to save you an incredible amount of pain and money in the future. If your teeth are susceptible enough to rot, you can actually die from infection. And as they say, with how little insurance actually covers dental —
Not brushing your teeth??
In THIS economy???

I need to say something and I need y'all to be calm
if it isn't actively bad or harmful, no representation should be called "too simple" or "too surface level"
I have a whole argument for this about the barbie movie but today I wanna talk about a show called "the babysitters club" on Netflix
(obligatory disclaimer that I watched only two episodes of this show so if it's super problematic I'm sorry) (yes. I know it's based on a book, this is about the show)
this is a silly 8+ show that my 9 year old sister is watching and it manages to tackle so many complex topics in such an easy way. basic premise is these 13 year old girls have a babysitting agency.
in one episode, a girl babysits this transfem kid. the approach is super simple, with the kid saying stuff like "oh no, those are my old boy clothes, these are my girl clothes". they have to go to the doctor and everyone is calling the kid by her dead name and using he/him and this 13 year old snaps at like a group of doctors and they all listen to her. it's pure fantasy and any person versed in trans theory would point out a bunch of mistakes.
but after watching this episode, my little sister started switching to my name instead of my dead name and intercalating he/him pronouns when talking about me.
one of the 13 years old is a diabetic and sometimes her whole personality is taken over by that. but she has this episode where she pushes herself to her limit and passes out and talks about being in a coma for a while because of not recognizing the limits of her disability.
and this allowed my 9 year old sister to understand me better when I say "I really want to play with you but right now my body physically can't do that" (I'm disabled). she has even asked me why I'm pushing myself, why I'm not using my crutches when I complain about pain.
my mom is 50 years old and watching this show with my sister. she said the episode about the diabetic girl helped her understand me and my disability better. she grew up disabled as well, but she was taught to shut up and power through.
yes, silly simple representation can annoy you if you've read thousands of pages about queer liberation or disability radical thought, but sometimes things are not for you.

Happy disability pride month!
Even though LGBTQ+ pride month is over, disability pride month has just begun
It might not be well known about, but it’s a good time to get together with other people with disabilities to share experiences, advice and history of how far our rights have come
I’m a trans & queer cripple, and I’m proud of it

the solution for taking care of "unsightly" homeless people is to house us. that is the only solution. if you can't stand the look of someone living on the sidewalk, you shouldn't stand for them being put into that situation to begin with. housing us is the only answer.

Incredibly important for everyone to see, especially because trans people are often neglected by doctors.

i was recently denied life-saving gallbladder removal surgery by my GI specialist due to being "too fat" (i'm 300 lbs and very muscular) and "needing to lose 10 -15 pounds and waiting 2 - 3 months in order to get the surgery". i was then signed up for bariatric weight loss surgery before i could get the gallbladder removal despite the gallstone stuck in the neck of the organ as well as the other stones inside of it causing me to be incapable of keeping down food
i ended up getting the surgery done by a local hospital with far better doctors, but the initial denial had me so defeated. if you are fat and have ever been denied important surgeries, life saving or otherwise, because of your weight, i am so sorry and you should never have to face that. most surgeries are not impacted by weight in the slightest. this is usually an issue with the surgeon's skill as a surgeon.
i was told by every other surgeon i met that weight has no bearing on a laparoscopic gallbladder removal surgery. at the other hospital i was also told that anesthesia wouldn't work on me or that i wouldn't survive it. yet again i was told by other surgeons that was also not the case. most surgeons worth their paygrade can do these surgeries after just... trying and learning how to work with fat bodies.
i was told by the surgeons and nurses in the ER that it's ridiculous for the other hospital to behave as though fat people will never need surgery of any kind ever throughout their lives, for one reason or another. it's unrealistic. most people will encounter a potential surgery in their life times, no matter their weight and it's unprofessional to just give up when someone above a certain weight threshold needs help.
my heart goes out to you especially if you're trans, intersex, gnc, and queer and have been denied top surgery or other gender affirming care surgeries because of your weight. this is also medically unethical and done for no reason other than fatphobic transphobic bias. you do not need to lose weight to get top or bottom surgery.
take care of yourself. my heart goes out to you and you don't deserve this treatment at all

psa for cane, crutch, and wheelchair users getting top surgery:
you will not be able to exert much effort with your arms. self supporting with a cane or crutch or self propelling in your wheelchair is inadvisable.
make sure you have a support person to help you, or be prepared to be using your legs more if you are able.

You don’t get to say queer lives matter if you don’t say black lives matter
You don’t get to say queer lives matter if you don’t say disabled lives matter
You don’t get to say queer lives matter if you don’t say First Nations lives matter
You don’t get to say queer lives matter if you don’t say neurodivergent lives matter
You don’t get to say queer lives matter if you don’t say women’s health matters
You don’t get to say queer lives matter if you don’t say ANY other marginalized communities’ lives matter
Intersectional identities are here and won’t go away

Shout out to all the transmascs that can’t get on t because of health issues.
My doctor told me because of the medication for my chronic illness testosterone may not have any effects on me. I may not have cispassing ever. We deserve to be treated as good as cis men and we aren’t “less trans” just because we don’t medicate. We are valid. Fuck anything else.

some of yall need to understand that "my body, my choice" also applies to:
addicts in active addiction with no intention of quitting
phys disabled people who deny medical treatment
neurodivergent people who deny psychiatric treatment (yes, including schizophrenic people and people with personality disorders)
trans people who want or don't want to medically transition (yes, including trans masc lesbians with top surgery and trans women without bottom surgery, yall are so weird to them wtf)
and if you can't understand that, then you don't get to use the phrase
