aHhh okay so the discussions of Titan!Megatron on @callsign-relic's blog have fully. FULLY taken over my brain and ive been drawing stuff for it for like the last few days nonstop

the tl;dr of this is AU is pretty much "what if Megatron got turned into a titan/cityformer as a form of penance/imprisonment and now roams the empty wasteland of Cybertron forever" plus "IDW Megatron has really fucked up internals so... what if that, but as a City?"

and of course since he's a Titan, that also means he has a cityspeaker... or three. One per sub-AU thing. Theres 3 options. 3 flavours of AU.

The cuffs and collar are hardwired into Megatron, so I made the lights the same colour as his biolights!

I imagine that on the tops of his shoulders there are solar panels, even if you can't see them here lol.

The second picture with the seekers is (loosely) inspired by a discussion about whether or not Megatron gets visitors or not. I thought about who would visit him and well... I think this is as close as Starscream realistically gets to visiting him.

Extra detail about that piece is that Thundercracker and Skywarp are keeping watch from above! Also drawing Megatron took me like 8 hours because I was struggling with his legs really badly kshffkbfkdsbdk,, the background went much faster, funnily enough.

Optimus specifically isn't wearing his Autobot badge any more.

This isn't relevant in this series of images, but Ultra Magnus's eye markings are only on the Magnus armour. His other two forms do not have them :] (... until he begins to discard the armour, that is.)

Megatron is roughly 3200m/2 miles tall. Technically he could have clouds around his knees, but I thought this looked a little bit cooler lol.

OK IMPROMPTU STREAM OVER SO NOW ILL ANNOUNCE IT A BIT MORE IN DETAIL THIS TIME

Basically, on Steam, my total playtime of The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe is at 278 hours on record (it used to be at 300 but steam took it away for some reason) (it says 276 bc this screenshot was taken before the stream)

that being said, out of sheer spite, total brainrot, and potentially for the meaning of art, ill be keeping TSPUD open on my computer for 1k hours. and streaming at least 1 hour and 30 minutes of it every day if i can of it over on twitch.

theres plenty of differences though these are all rather superficial. narratively they’re very different which is why i was like “huh…i dont see it” at first

the biggest major difference in terms of arcs is that jade never harbored an attitude or jealousy towards dave at any point. shes not really a jealous person, and she doesnt take dave’s cool exterior seriously she just humors him

and when she did once compare her progress to theirs it was never with resentment. but also dave reassured her really damn quick about it while link’s lack of communication allowed zelda’s doubts to fester

even though i love them both jade’s just plain more agreeable than zelda haha. she’s not like “augh it comes so easy to him” she’s like “wow that’s so cool that comes so easy to him!!!”

so i look up the wiki for this kid andrew, and it leads me to a story about a ghost kid attatching himself to william aftons spirit and torturing him and shit. i was a bit confused bc like. isnt that cassidys thing? but Whatevs. also the stories seemed weirdly bizzare to me, like not in a hateful way but like. why is william afton getting an exorcism. anyway it brings up a couple (A LOT) of names i dont understand, but what my brain latches onto is this kid jake, who is described as forcing andrew to Stop torturing english willy, at the cost of Now Hes Stuck Possessing An Endoskeleton. okayyy this is fnaf to me. i didnt know this but its abt what i expect from five nights at freddys.

so i head to jakes wiki out of curiosty, and find out he is from, no joke, one of the most fucking depressing stories ive ever read? i dont mean in terms of fnaf, i mean, FUCKING EVER. JESUS. CHRIST.

its like. in the middle of a fazbear frights book. fazbear frights being these scary stories to tell in the dark type books where its collections of spoooky stories that will shape the minds of children everywhere, but like. fnaf themed.

this story is called “the real jake” and i Highly reccomend you read the wiki instead of hearing it from me like. fourth hand. like im retelling a retelling here. but if you want that ultra telephone sypnosis, here you go:

“the real jake” follows a nine year old boy who is bedridden. with cancer. his mother is dead and his father is overseas. jake is taken care of full time by a nanny, margie.

jake likes to talk with a boy in his cupboard, named simon, who is really his father over the phone, through a walkie talkie. at first, jake and “simon” talk about what jake has done that day, but jake cannot leave his bed, so jake gets frustrated that all his stories are so mundane and depression. so one day simons like, okay, tell me what the REAL jake has done. and its a little game of pretend, where jake tells these silly little stories about what the “real jake” did that day. one day, jakes friend tries to get him to sneak out to go to the arcade, and tries to get him there by dragging him in a wagon, but jake is too weak to make it to make it to the wagon and collapses and throws up, and he explains to margie he wanted to be the real jake for a day.

at some point jake and margie are playing chess, and jake gets super frustrated that he cant see straight. margie calms him down and jake tells her that he loves her, causing margie to break down, and then she Later Finds Out The Doctors Are Ceasing Treatment For Him, which makes margie realize she loves jake as a son.

AND THEN MARGIE GETS THE CALL THAT JAKES FATHER WAS FUCKING KILLED. and she has full custody of jake. she cant bring herself to tell him his father died, so she says simon wont be able to visit for a while.

AND THEN JAKE FUCKING DIES.

Ok. Furverse thoughts n pet peeves (hehe)

Mainly talking about bttwns' furverse but also my interpretation of furverse in general

1. Dyed fur and hair are possible imo. Some hair is either long enough fur to create the illusion, some hair is hair. Characters like Cherry and That news reporter are just built different lol. No one has different or unnatural colored fur, so no pinks or blues unless it's Really There. There's prolly cosmetic surgery out there in the 2000s that lets you permanently dye parts or ur whole body.

2. On the food size and portions- while everyone is still normal sized and their heights are just slightly altered to reflect their species (Charlie is still short like That bc hes a mole, and Nigel/Lola would be maybe a lil shorter? In that case girl just Step on him). I exaggerate their heights and bodies to reflect their actual species so still having that kinda morphology they'd need to still intake what their animal would need. Perhaps the government prescribes a standardized sizing system for Extra large, large, mean, and small critters? This demand would change depending on location if a city or town or village. The price for bigger food might be a lil more? So most would opt to buy medium food, or if it'd help them save, large.

3. On size dynamics, a huuuuge pet peeve i have regarding relationships that really lean into it, i'm not a fan of how ppl write that smaller animals are practically helpless and that bigger ones are always the caregivers. I mean in some cases it would be needed..but i just dislike this culture or ultra dependence on the bigger guy to get jobs like cleaning n cooking done

I wanna help too!! I'm not helpless but I do like the idea of gettin taken care of. Being held and allowing others to do stuff for me but yk!!????!?! Its just Weird to me. Maybe im just worried i'd be considered a bigger animal due to my body type but cats aren't that big compared to maybe a jackal. Uhhh

Hello grizz!! Your world-building and storytelling really inspire me in riptide, and as an aspiring dm I have but one question!!

How did you prompt the players to write their pc's backstories at the very beginning? Since they're all super interconnected with locations and actual people from their backstories, were those connections planned from the very beginning and did the players know about it??

I guess my point is that I want to write a campaign that has similarly linked characters, but I don't know how I should go about it. Write a story first and blend PC backstories into it, or make players write backstories and write the story around that?

(I'm not sure if this is like secret dm and player behind the curtain info that you can't share and in case it is that's fine, thank you for still taking the time to read this haha :]!! )

There isnt a right way, but I think after you DM for a while, youll learn what works for you and your table.

You can have your players make their characters, and then build a world around them, or you can build a world and then have your players make characters in the world. Regardless, I recommend making your players build their characters together or at least have a session 0 where everyone agrees on what they want out of the game and other table rules. It helps so that you dont have characters who dont get along, which can end up in players not having fun. You can also look up character building questionnaires to send to your players, that will help them flesh out the characters, and give you stuff you can use in the game. Important family member NPCs for example, or greatest fears for another.

In Riptide I didnt have a world built when we started, so there wasnt a story there. The concept of pirates vs navy isn’t original, it was just a starting point and gave the world a cohesive theme. I built small adventures and conflicts, and how the players reacted in character was how the story was told. Now, however, theres a lot more fleshed out, which means the world is going to change, whether they have a hand in it or not, and the story will be the characters perspective and lives throughout the ever changing world. The heaviest theme of the story right now is choice. Whose ideals will win? Whose choices will be remembered?

Id really suggest having a concept and an overarching plot at least so that you can integrate your players into it quicker and easier. An overarching plot might look like world alternating NPC motivations, like coming up with an antagonists plan long before the players are introduced, and have that plan effect the players directly, no matter what their backstory is.

For example, if you had a world that was in endless war fought by orphans raised to be genetic super soldiers, your players would have a jumping off point to write their characters. Your first few sessions might be exploring the live of these young soldiers, and then you throw the ultra plot twist at them like all of a sudden the world powers declare peace as long as all the super soldiers are eradicated, and then what was going to be a campaign of fighting war for the world or something, is now a campaign about being on the run from the world that created the characters. Not saying this idea is good, its just a silly idea to give quick example.

OKAY SO she comes from a universe where her kind are robots made by a company to terraform planets for the ultra wealthy. So if you have the funds you can purchase a whole planet and whole armies of these little bots will shape it however you want.

BUT. While on the assembly line, before even recovering her directive, a portal opens up and throws her into this odd pocket dimension, which is just a half built city floating in a bright void. (Also when I say half finished I mean more like brutalist aesthetic with just concrete and no glass on the windows)

This place (named ‘Gearsky’ by locals because massive floating gears are the only thing that exist here outside of the city itself) is full of people from their own dimensions just trying to get by. She explores, and comes across a little bear being picked on in an alleyway. (The lil green bear [party bear] in the pics above)

She saves him and then it subconsciously becomes her prime directive to help Party Bear get home/care for him. So they set up base in one of the empty apartments and she just sorta takes care of him.

NOW. How do you get home you may be asking? Well it’s easy. You just need to beat someone in a deathmatch.

Enter the only form of entertainment on this island. The man who is the dictator of this place and subsequently the host of this game, aptly named Host, loves running this game. The rules are simple. 3 people enter, and two can leave alive. Only one needs to die, and the other two can get sent home. The only thing is, you have no idea who you’re going up against.

Now, RB, being a bot made to terraform, has some power behind her with her explosive abilities. But Party Bear has no defenses. So RB tries to strike a deal with Host.

She offers to kill both people in the ring with her for multiversal travel.

Host is intrigued by this offer, and accepts. After wiping the floor with her opponents, she’s granted access to all dimensions. She’s obviously excited and goes home to try and let Party Bear go home, but is heartbroken when she discovers that she’s the only one who can travel using the portals.

But this catches the attention of someone else.

Her future boss.

Another robot, by the codename TB-89.

He took note of her deal, and approached her with a job offer.

Man’s long story short she works for him as an assassin!

i just beat Half Minute Hero: Super Mega Neo Climax Ultimate Boy

at least i think so? i beat princess and evil lord 30, and ive been told thats supposed to unlock knight 30, but it just kinda didnt. i wanted to do more of the side modes but i guess since i completed the main campaign i can say its beat? whatever i cant play any more

so yknow how xbox won the 7th gen console war right? the wii focused on a casual market, so its only competition was with the ps3. fortunately, the ps3 cost 599 us dollars (my internet is fucked right now but i promise thats over $1000 today) and was built in such a roundabout bullshit way that yeah you could technically get higher specs, but 3rd parties had no idea what they were doing, so all commercial comparisons made it look bad. i bring this up for irony's sake, because considering that the ps3's fatal flaw as inaccessibility, the psp was a hotbed for indie games. it was popular enough to attract creative devs, but not popular enough to attract shovelware, and digital distribution taking off right about then means that its off to the fuckin races

enter half minute hero, which would later be released as half minute hero super mega neo climax ultimate boy (which ill be calling HMHSMNCUB for short) on steam. congrats on landing the lucrative supermega sponsership!

the main mode is called hero 30, and it works like this. each level is basically an ultra-condensed jrpg. random encounters last like one second, you can usually cross the entire levels map in like 15 seconds, and itll usually that about half a minute to level up enough to beat the levels boss. which is great because every level has a time limit of 30 seconds. theres like a statue you can pray to for more time, but it costs more money each time, and you usually only need to use it like twice max

yeah, the first thing that tipped me off to this being a handheld game is the level structure. you ever notice how few handheld/mobile games there are with long levels or open worlds? the exception is genshin-style gachas, which only really took off to keep up with how phones are powerful enough to emulate a ps4 now. if you ever wondered why luigis mansion dark moon was the only one in the series with a short mission structure, its because its the only game in the series native to 3ds. its to match the ethos of "play a little then move on" that most in-your-pocket games find success with. itd be awkward if you were in the middle of a triple-a cinematic moment when your bus got to your stop

anyway! the game is fun enough. it fulfills the niche its trying to fulfill pretty well, i think. i can imagine busting this out on a steam deck (i dont have a steam deck) on a road trip or something, busting through a few levels. a lot of the levels near the end (im talking level 30 out of 31) took way too long in my opinion, the punishment for failure being that you lose like 20 minutes of gameplay is like a jumpscare in a game that was so fast-paced until then. but other than that, target hit, congrats game

it does a lot for replayability too, which was super important when it came out and still underappreciated now. i was a pretty poor kid, so i ended up just replaying levels in mario 3d land over and over again. games with seemingly endless content like final fantasy tactics a2 were like a godsend, you can just keep playing and playing forever! nowadays i feel like people value shorter games more then ever, but that might just be that im an adult with spending power, so ive got a life with errands and shit AND ive got like a million other games on my backlog.

but i digress. there are titles that you can earn based on your performance in a level, some of which are mutually exclusive. they mostly exist to point you towards scenarios they accounted for and dont want the player to miss out on. like, theres a title for if you reach a village before lava is meant to destroy it, which gives unique dialog. theres also a bunch of equipment in each level that you usually have to go out of your way to grind for, and you dont have a lot of time to waste in this game so it asks for juuuuust enough strategy.

oh yeah, the dialog. this game has a pretty irreverent tone. it likes to parody jrpg conventions, with the villains pointing out that their apocalypse spell will kill them too, and npcs in distress snork mimimimimi snork mimimimi. sorry i dozed off for a sec, im just kinda sick of irony. i feel like i dont have to tell you that it kidna sucks when something is afraid to take itself seriously. that said, i feel like the game does a good job at keeping the tone consistent and keeping it from being annoying. believe it or not, this game doesnt wanna waste your time, so it keeps the quips brief. also the skip button is lightning fast. all in all, not to my taste, but it does what it sets out to do well, so its hard to really insult it for that

theres also, allegedly, a ton of additional modes to unlock when you beat the main game. they shake up the gameplay WAY more than i was expecting, they have totally different fundamental mechanics. evil lord 30 is about summoning different minions suited for different tasks to defeat enemies, like a real-time strategy instead of a jrpg. i love the magic circle mechanic, its so simple but it does a great job of building risk/reward when the time limit is still a major factor. then theres princess 30, which is a fucking shoot em up? theyre all complete with 30 levels and stories that are just as fleshed out as the main campaign (for what thats worth), although there arent the same depths of branching paths and optional equipment. i was VERY presently surprised

but uh... thats where it ended for me. theres supposed to be knight 30 but it just kinda didnt unlock, even though it says online its supposed to show up after you beat the first three modes, which i did. its a shame i couldnt play around with it, but im not unsatisfied with the experience i had. it used to go on sale for like 3 bucks but it hasnt budged from the full $11 since last year, so... i guess i lucked out? personally, i think thats a prefectly acceptable asking price if youve got some space change on you, especially if youre more of a completionist type and you know youre gonna squeeze the extra value out of getting all the titles and shit. for everyone else, its worth a shot if you dont mind more repetitive gameplay loops. if you dont die and skip all the cutscenes and everything you could probably beat this game before the refund window is up, so there ya go

half-minute verdict. i had fun, but i dunno if i would buy it for 10 bucks. humour was meh but i liked the gameplay gimmick and i really like the replay value. wish it didnt screw me outta knight 30

If Ultraman Arc using his imagination to create Absolute Armor, he will unstoppable due to the combination of Ultras and Absolutians power.

This was actually what I pointed out when we first learned about Arc's gimmick, cause theres 2 ways we can understand Arc's gimmick rn

Firstly, is there really a limit to how strong Arc's armors can be if all it depends on is if his host can simply come up with it via his imagination? Like if Rutian is around NG base, being able to come up with armor forms on the spot is literally an asspull gimmick cause who can really give a put a limit on that if that's the case?

Otherwise, is Galaxy Armor truly the limit to Yuma's imagination for Arc Armors? Or is there some form of limiting factor here?

Another way to look at this is that Rutian himself is extremely powerful, but was severely weakened in the beginning of the series (which makes sense as he remained dormant within Yuma since childhood, he is still probably weakened rn) so his form and power are unstable and requires some form of synchronisation with the host (his imagination) to manifest his powers, which them comes in different forms (as armors), so in a sense, rn Rutian exists as a form of "superposition of possibilities", but is still limited by the current amount of power he can exert either until he fully recovers and/or if he fully recovers, he is then limited by an armor that is the same strength as his original form's power

This essentially also means that all the different abilities demonstrated by Solis, Luna and Galaxy Armors are all also what Rutian can already inherently do in the first place, it just required the hosts' imagination to guide Rutian's currently unstable power to manifest it

I hope it's the 2nd one tbh cause it has far more interesting implications which I'll dive into once it's actually confirmed

Illusion- The big kids are always so mean! They pranked my cre-a-tors, it wasnt very nice!

Sunstreaker- In my defense, Illy, your creators are super easy to prank.

Sunstreaker- It's not like we target them specifically. We prank several of the other older bots.

Sunstreaker- Awesome! So... In no particular order. Mirage and Hound, i got them both a few days ago with a glitter bomb. I wasn't caught. Prowl has his suspicions though.

Theres Windblade, I hid her swords, Arcee said she'd tell on me if i didn't put them back, so I did. Chromia, Sides and i got her before we left on our mission! We put mercury in her energon, she thought the energon had gone bad somehow.

Illusion- But mercury is so tasty though!

Sunstreaker- Not when its mixed with energon, though. It has a small chemical reaction, makes it taste really bitter. Wheeljack's classes can be really fun sometimes.

We also pranked Jazz, but he pranked us back.

Illusion- How?

Sunstreaker- Well, we took all his aux cables and hid them, but he somehow knew it was us, so he took all of my paints and my brother's tools from our room. Made me remember why we never prank him. He's special ops, he basically knows everything that happens on this ship.

We also learned our lesson with Blaster. I think those two work together. We payed Rewind and Eject to fill Blaster's chest with petroleum jelly while he recharged. Turns out, they took our money, reported back to Blaster, and he payed them double to cover our beds with the same petroleum jelly we gave them. That was a couple months ago, before Sides and I left on our mission.

Illusion- So you came back and your beds were sticky?

Sunstreaker- Petroleum jelly isnt sticky, its... You know the oil you have to use for your joints? To help them not hurt as much?

Illusion- Yeah.

Sunstreaker- Like that, but thicker.

Illusion- Oh. Ew. Is that evyone you re-mem-ber?

Sunstreaker- uhhhh... yeah, those are the ones we've pranked recently. Sides and I sometimes pull pranks on our own, so he might have done some that i don't know about.

Illusion- I don't care, as long as he left my cre-a-tors alone.

Sunstreaker- Nah, i think he targets the commanding officers more than anything.

Illision- Oh. Can we go to doc Rung now?

Sunstreaker- Yeah, of course! Do you want to walk, or should i carry you?

so how do solgaleo, lunala, and necrozma fit into all this multiverse stuff? and you keep on saying celebi is apart of this. Is it a certain celebi beacuse I know there's more than one like that one shiny one?

Pepper: Why would they matter? They arent a part of the Multiverse with a direct tie with us. Theyre apart of our world in a different space tine.

Pepper: Probably hard to understand- i talked about it with Ash, Mom and Go and none of em seem to get it.

Pepper: Theres a Timeline of events- im sure you've heard of it- the flow with everything. A Multiverse indicates that theres one of us in ever universe we join. Some things may be different, but there needs to be a constant here and there. Uncle Ash is the constant i find in every world.

Pepper: The Ultra World isnt apart of that because there is NO Ash or Peach or Indigo or me. All of us arent there and no one of our family is there. They also have direct ties to our world, able to interact without risk of disrupting things. Solgaleo and Lunala are Legendaries of Both worlds, intertwined to contain as much of both DNA as possible.

Pepper: So yeah, That's where they fit in and why they arent a Universe.

Pepper: Uhh, not sure what you mean be 'certain shiny'- I mean Uncle Celery can end up being Pink for a bit but he's usually always green.

Pepper: I dunno how mom and he became friends though, He sort of found me in a dumpster and then messed up. Is why i'm gray lol.
