Ongoing list of the cards under the MB2 playtest cards, as per the official card image gallery. Just text. There's so many. Somebody go put these into the Scryfall Tagger like they did last time.
Interestingly, not all cards that directly reference another make the backing card visible as part of the joke (see Intangible Vibes).
If there wasn't a direct reference, usually, they just used the most recent card they had that fit the frame. Unique cards are bolded.

I wanna hear more about your Thromok deck. I had a fling deck based around it, but it was slow and inconsistent and easily disrupted.
Absolutely, here's the deck as it currently stands:
Thromok
Originally the deck made a lot more tokens, but I guess I've sort of veered away from that strategy over the years. Of course there are still some tokens, but it's more about getting things into play and then gobbling them up when you're able to win.
The problem is that Thromok isn't good. Yeah, it gets huge, but without trample, haste, and a way to take out multiple players you're kinda stuck. So buffs like Surrak and Goreclaw, Xenagos, and Giant Ankheg are extremely important. Heart-Piercer Manticore does offer a "fling" strat in there, and Pathbreaker Ibex turns your entire board (or what's left of it) into Thromoks as well.
I've been experimenting a bit with 2-mana mana dorks that tap for 2, and they've been doing okay. A loooong time ago I had more Wood Elves effects to ramp, but they're too slow now to rely on entirely.
Since this deck is entirely creatures and lands, I've also added in a bunch of hate effects for other types. Ruric Thar can be game-warping against some decks (heck, even Magebane Lizard can be), and cards like Arasta and Heartwood Storyteller give you extra value when your opponents do stuff. It's a neat little sub-theme that makes games more interesting.
Finally, and this was the most fun part of building the deck, I got to dig really deep to find weird "instant/sorcery-like effects" to use instead of true instants or sorceries. Sure, technically the Adventure cards have instants attached, but in the deck they're still creatures. But, Trumpeting Carnosaur is also a (bad) Lightning Bolt! Magus of the Order is a (bad) tutor! Generous Patron is a (bad) Divination! Weaknesses are part of what makes a deck fun, and building this way in spite of that has been a blast.

The legendary character pairs in MOM seem to be very structured. There are 10 two-color cards and 5 wedge cards, and none of them represent a single plane more than once. But then there's a lone Surrak and Goreclaw in monogreen which also doubles Tarkir's representation. How did this happen?
Surrak and Goreclaw is a Jumpstart card (which do show up in set boosters, but not draft boosters), so it isn't a main set card.

Cut sekki, arcane signet, feed the swarm, entomb, bloom tender, surrak&goreclaw, goreclaw, fauna shaman.
You want brawn and aftermath analyst in there.
Feed the swarm is mudda mudda mudda in an ABZAN deck where there's a disenchant on every 12th green or white interactive card.
Need to cut like 7 cards to make room for more lands y'all got any ideas?

I was thinking of saving this till the actual morning, but a 2am post seems about right.
Elder Gargaroth is an absolute beast of a card, coming in at 5cmc, and boasting a chunk of abilities. What’s nice about this design is...that it’s subtle. EDH is often a format with incredibly high ceilings of what can happen, through combos, explosive card interactions and cheated out powerful creatures. This guy simply hits the board a bit more powerful than your average 5cmc. It’s got incremental value that might not warrant a Sword to Plowshares as soon as it hits the table. Obviously, you wanna draw as many cards as possible, but depending on how budget you are, or how you build your deck, you don’t wanna draw unnecessary hate.
this might be a star in standard, but if you’re a budget player or mono green player (thinking Yeva Flash, Surrak the Hunt Caller or Goreclaw), this might make a spot in your deck.

My Animar Decklist
A couple people have asked me about my decklist due to my tumblr handle. This is a deck I’ve been building for roughly 5 years and have gotten it to a build I enjoy playing that I feel is both casual and fun. There are many times I have made all of my opponents scoop and times where it just doesn’t work.
Before you try to recommend changes to my deck, consider:
Yes, I know there are better cards
Yes, I know there are ways to make infinite combos
You’re not my mom

I have MANY objections!
A monogreen deck playing more than one harrow effect should be running Drownyard Temple.
If you're monogreen and already playing something as expen$ive as Exploration, there isn't really a reason to stop at 1 1drop dork when fyndhorn elves, boreal druid, and elvish mystic are still out there.
Animist's Might isn't doing you that many favors for having only 9 legends in the 99.
For as many Forest-specific ramp cards as you're running, you don't have anything special to get from them. Dryad Arbor makes a great combo with Leyline of Abundance, as does emergent sequence from STX.
For as much interest as your deck has with going tall, you should be running monogreen Selvala instead of something pokey like Surrak and Goreclaw.
Arcane Signet is the sort of boring pick in commander that becomes acutely uninteresting in the context of a monogreen deck. It says 'I didn't look very long at monocolor staples on edhrec'. Especially when Myriad Landscape and Blighted Woodland are Right There.
Speaking of not looking at staples; no beast within? Is the idea that you remove threats by turning your creatures sideways in that general direction?
While on the topic of interaction: You only have 4 pieces of removal. No field of ruin, demolition field, ghost quarter, reclamation sage (!?!), Kenrith's Transformation, Krosan Grip, or Pick Your Poison.

Do you happen to know who came up with Surrak and Goreclaw? What a perfect way to illustrate usual enemies working together against the invaders, while also being funny and bringing back my favorite character from Tarkir. If you do know, please give a major high-five.
Will do.

Hi Mark! Is there a chance of us getting showcase treatments for the team-up cards from the March of the Machine Commander decks? Or Surrak and Goreclaw? I love the team-up showcases, but I'm sad there are some that didn't get one.
It’s hard to catch-up on showcase treatments as we tend to rotate what we use, but it’s always a possibility.

I mean, I understand it's easy to make mistakes where Magic lore is concerned, and I can see why the art and flavor text of the cards lead people to make the wrong assumptions.
But fans have been misunderstanding the Bear Punching Saga for years, and I feel like it's time we set the record straight and collectively stop spreading that misinformation.
The idea that Surrak would kill such a mighty animal just to show off how tough and macho he could be is untrue, unfair, and unbearable.
The first legendary Bear is here! (Source)

Let's talk mono green:
Magic has been one of my favorite all time games to play ever since it was properly introduced to me in the summer of 2011. From the intro deck I bought when i was roughly 10/11, to hand me down cards from my cousin and finally the sight that was Moldgraf Monstrosity, I was hooked on Green, and by extension, the overall basis for a lot of my EDH deck building....playing bomb ass creatures.
My appreciation for the color has grown ever since. Even now, most of my assembled decks run green, and attempts to forego subterfuge, removal or counterspells, and goes straight for the jugular.
Yeva was my second commander deck constructed after Odric. I had an extensive pool of green cards that loved to be able to jump in at instant speed for some tricks, interesting interactions or a surprise pump from a Craterhoof on a swing. Since then, the deck has always managed to take shape in some form (originally being the shell for my current main mono green deck Rhonas fight club). I just made her again recently, and with the right components and support, really goes off without colorless spells or artifacts.
Green continues to provide great green legendaries to spice up my decks, adding their own twist to the green formula. Surrak and Goreclaw will always find a slot in mono green, and Rishkar and Gargos are excellent in utility and creature removal respectively. I hope eventually I'll be able to coalesce these creatures into a single deck and show everyone at the table to not mess with a mono color deck.
How has your experience with green faired? Do you love or despise the color? I'd like to hear from you and see what you have to say.

Look, I started my blog simply to document me love of all things mono-green. So imma do my best to help you out.
Let’s begin;
70 legal {Green Only color identity} + {Legendary + Creature} for {Commander} thanks to gatherer.wizards.com
Oviya/Glissa- Old lady theme, or my personal favorite, a Planar Choas ‘green secretly loves artifacts’ theme! There are a good smattering of green cards that interact positively.
Eladamri/Ezuri/Marwyn/Dwynen/Kaysa/Meng Huo- Elfball, but that’s done to death. Maybe a Lords Only, Anthems deck.
Melira- Tricky, seeing as how there aren’t too many things to do. Combo with Persist and Amonkhet block -1/-1’s? Her plus Vorapede Woodfall Primus is gross indeed.
Azusa/Kamahl/Titania/Nissa/Omnath/Multani 2.0/Sasaya/Anthousa/Baru/Jolreal- Lands matter! Landfall, Sylvan Advocate, Ramuncap Excavator, Earth Surge!
Dosan/Goreclaw/Surrak/Yeva/Thriss/Patron of the Orochi/Vorenclex/Myojin/Ghalta- Some sort of GO BIG deck. Cause, hey, when they can’t counter your stuff with Dosan out it’s all good. (Hint: less Instants and Sorceries, more Seal of Primordium.)
Hua Tuo- Simple creature recursion, good for a sacrifice theme.
Isoa/Mirri/Thrun/Multani 1.0/Rhonas/Zuo/Gorm/Nylea/Ayumi/Grothama/Kodama of the North Tree/Lady Zhurong/Autumn Willow/Gruun/Masumaro/Silvos/Molimo - Tron builds! Suit up these resilient, cheap beaters and go to town. Bonus points for going with Ayumi. Grothama is funny if your opponent throws everything at ‘em and you just regenerate in response. (Fun fact & hint: Riding the Dilu Horse gives your creature horsemanship for as long as they’re out!)
Pir/Rishkar/Polukranos/Jugan/Sekki - Obvious +1/+1 counter theme, but there are so many different ways to do this that personalization shouldn’t be a problem. (Idea: Vigor + Splintering Wind + Essence Warden)
Reki- Super Woodsy Friends!
Selvala/Seton- C-c-c-COMBO! Selvala lends herself to being a rare mono-Green cEDH general just because of how crazy she is. And Seton? It makes all of your druids tap for mana the turn they come into play. So with Soul of the Harvest-stuff, that’s gross.
Shizuko/Iwamori- Another rarity, mono-green Group Hug! (Tempting Wurm, anyone?)
Yisan- Another competitive EDH Commander, this dude is very toolbox-y. Definitely lends to personalization.
Kodama of the South Tree (& Center Tree)/Iname/Bounteous Kirin- This one is cute: Spirit-ball! That’s right kiddos, all the spells are the same, but swap out elves for spirits. Trust me, no one cares how crappy your spirits are when they get +3/+3 on a daily basis. Eat ya vitamins!
Sachi/Shisato/Sosuke/Seshiro - Unfortunately, these are pretty straight forward tribals. With a slow drip of snakes each year, there’s gotta be some sort of unique angle you can take. Or, every card in your deck begins with the letter Ssss.
Arashi- This one doesn’t want to be your Commander :( Would be better with Hua Tuo or Kodama of the South
Nemata/Sakiko/Verdeloth- TOKENS 4 LYF. Saproling Tribal
recommend me good mono green commanders and fun little shenanigans to pull with them
