It's 2024 can we please stop saying it's normal to trace or copying an entire drawing and pretending it's 100% your work? Just bc you changed the character or added clothes on a base you found on pinterest it doesn't mean you created original art

Edit: I need to specifying some things, or somebody might misinterpret this post in the future.

Tracing and copying are more than okay to use if you need to exercise or study stuff! Copying might be a bit better because you're actually training your eye and hand on how to make shapes and volumes. My best advice is, if you trace something, keep it for yourself and don't post it online (if you do, ask the original artist if they're okay with it)

Always use references, especially for anatomy stuff! It's not a cheat! Poses are complicated, and there are a lot of photographers posting pose packs FOR FREE TO USE! Or even artists drawing them :)

Remember to read the TERMS OF SERVICE when using a photo/ base you've found online: some people want credits, others are fine without them! But you have to check to know, and please be respectful

YCH (your character here) are NOT free to use bases; please know that. They are artwork from other artist showcasing a type of commission they are doing. And neither are WIPs

do NOT trust stuff you find on Pinterest. A great part of the artworks over there have been uploaded 1) without the artist consent and often 2) with a misleading use. Already happened to find other artist artworks or sketches being given out as "bases".

This post came from the fact some of the images used and traced were actually anatomy studies made by a very famous artist who requested for them not to be traced over (or if used like that, to give credits were it's due).

For the actual bases, they can be found on Twitter, and credits are required as well.

For that one traced artwork. It's actually a work in progress made by an artist, and I suppose it was uploaded on Pinterest, so some people might think of it as a base? Although it has on it "WIP" and the original artist name (if you've been drawing. You know exactly what those 2 things mean). The other things that bothered me it's while for the other there has been an attempt, this one it's traced 1 to 1. Didn't bother to change the character face at all. That's what makes me mad. Taking all the credits for something that you didn't do. That's just being lazy and not giving a fuck about art. Also they traced other artist's illustrations as well with their OCs so. I guess it's not just fandom art 😂

On a side note, this is something that I've seen happen quite a lot. And especially if you're doing commissions for a living, a trace accusation can destoy your carreer. Therefore, I won't tell this person a name or make a callout post. I did block them and moved on, and this was a vent post I had to do for myself.

Narumitsu.

I love them. Like a lot.

Every time I think of them my heart swells.

I really can’t properly express with words how great I think narumitsu is as a concept.

I mean, the only reason I got into Ace Attorney and spiraled into glorious obsession for several months (typically my hyperfixations last just a couple weeks) was because I kept seeing fanart of them and thinking to myself holy shit. This is peak. What the fuck. Who ARE these guys?!?

I just think their dynamic is the best thing I’ve ever seen and I want to stare at them day and night, simply *existing* in multiple angles, situations, universes, media…

I want to put them under a microscope damn it! And study their goddamn relationship and write a damn good scientific paper about it beCAUSE it’s so interesting!!

Back to the dynamic thing, it’s just something about the classic rivals to lovers thing with a dash of childhood friends and a great amount of wiggle room for personal interpretation, their canonical moments, both of their incredibly fun, interesting personalities, and their, in my opinion, innate chemistry that mixes together so well into a DELICIOUS cocktail that can and will feed me for decades in terms of ideas, content, and happiness.

It’s just nothing like I had seen before in a ship! I mean, listen, I described it above, I know they technically fulfill two very common tropes in shipping, but their relationship, at least to me, still constantly feels unique, always fresh, perhaps precisely because of that wiggle room mentioned earlier, perhaps because the game does such a fantastic job at characterizing both characters, perhaps simply because I love them so much.

But I love them so much BECAUSE of all of the above!!

I do think the main reason is that the characters are so enjoyable to watch do practically anything; the creativity and passion of the Ace Attorney fandom always manages to astound me, I believe the fact that the very games we love are so fun, and unique, and creative themselves that has created a community with creators that like to think of new ideas, put their own twist into the characters, and THAT is what makes narumitsu so great. Maybe.

Cause they’re so flexible! They are perfect, and enjoyable in any way shape or form; you can ANGST em, you can FLUFF em, you can make them have FREAKY GAY SEX or, my personal preference; ALL THREE IN QUICK SUCCESSION.

(You can also, of course, enjoy them platonically, which is JUST as awesomesauce)

I mean, never in my life has a fictional couple of dudes made me feel this insane and crazy and deranged. I have spent sleepless nights just reading fanfiction or, on occasion, simply THINKING about them for hours. My hyperfixation may be over, yes, but the passionate fire that narumitsu sparked in me continues to burn brightly even now.

But yes, when I first hit that Ace Attorney obsession peak they may have genuinely been all I could think of. To quote myself from a few months ago:

“WHATS THE POINT OF LIVING IF NOT NARUMITSU, YK? THEY ARE SO IN LOVE, PHOENIX YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY SMITTEN AND IT CAUSES ME PROBLEMS IN MY DAY TO DAY LIFE, I COULD THINK ABOUT GAY LAWYERS TILL THE END OF MY DAYS MAN.”

And:

“EVERY TIME I THINK ROMANCE IS DEAD NARUMITSU POPS UP ON MY FEED AND REMINDS ME WHAT LOVE REALLY IS.

IT’S GAY LAWYERS.”

And truly, that’s the crux of this issue, isn’t it? Narumitsu is just so peak, in so many ways, they inspire me to keep going sometimes I swear.

Before narumitsu, I had never even attempted to draw two people interacting, because I was bad at it! But they gave me the courage to try, I met them and I saw their love, and they skyrocketed to first place in my mind’s “Neptune’s top ships” list so fast they could’ve broken the sound barrier.

And I thank them, truly, for introducing me to one of the best things that’s happened to me, for bringing me into this game’s world of chaos, fun, distress, drama, love, fear, and lots of yelling. Because I love it. Because it’s now a part of me and because I will continue to carry its lessons and the joy it has brought me forever.

So perhaps it’s that love for them, that can be felt through the screen, in every comma, in every brush and pen stroke, in every word, sentence, breath, paper mache project, that makes them so great, the love for AA and narumitsu manifesting into the most wonderful creations, shared, enjoyed, loved.

All of this is to say, in a bunch of words, that narumitsu tops, and I love them very much.

Three years of madness inside the palace is over now.

Howdy, happy new year everyone, I hope you're doing great today.

Welp, I just wanted to thank y'all for everything that you gave to me in 2024. It was a good times (and a bad times lol) so, I decided to do something for y'all for the love and happiness that you gave me, but first, let me tell you my story with this community.

Ahem.

In 2021, I was doing, like nothing, just being here, in existence, feeling a little depressed because I had, suddenly and out of blue, my little brother came to me and said: :DUDE, DELTARUNE CHAPTER 2 GOT RELEASED" and I was "Really???!?!??!?!" I opened up YouTube, Typed DELTARUNE chapter 2 and... it really released, like Damn, I never expected that. Later on, I got it on my cousin's phone (his phone is Glitchy is hell) and managed to finish it with him, and it was AWSAOME, and I really enjoyed it and loved it.

In 2022, it was the year that "secret bosses" would be a thing, and the first one that I saw was Lumia. If I remember correctly, I liked them, but not that much, like, they look decent, but still, I still like them.

Then I saw the immortal hydrangea, i believe that immortal hydrangea was the thing that made me believe that the Ch3 secret boss is a flower thing (or a flowey-like fella), I personally loved the it so much.

I also saw Huecycles's deltarune chapter 3 and her secret boss, Halojack, I really loved it a lot. back in the day when I was believing that Mike would be the main antagonist of Chapter 3 (not in a toxic way, I kept that opinion to myself, not telling anyone about).

Zet's Deltarune take was also so cool, i was a big fan of Helal, Occazio, and Billy Chance.

Then I discovered one of the coolest aus that ever existed, DELTARUNE: CHAPTER REWRITTEN, by the amazing and talented Winterer, which we got bangers like BIG BANG and BATTLE AGAINST THE WORLD, and honestly I find it very amazing and well-made, till, Y'know, some terrible has happened, like, The Winterer leaving the au and some other sucky shit, I don't want to go on details, you got the picture.

2023 came, and with it, more and more cooler stuff, and I can't mention anything related to the community without talking about Local h00ligan's DELTARUNE Take that with it, and it bunch of cool guys, Brandal C, Screepto and Fakres, and boy did I loved them, yup, I did, they are so cool, I personally liked Brandal more.

We also got one of the coolest deltarune chapter 3-7 takes, Vision Crew's Deltarune, by the coolest R.V Pine (who has blocked me on Tumblr), we got goobers like Tenna, Anne, Camellia, Hycrisik, Mentle Keeper, and Gonner and they all are amazing.

This year also marked the birth of the monster that we all know as "Woody Theory" by Spookydood on YouTube, which also leads of the Birth of thousands of "Friend Inside Me" images.

Deltarune: The Chapter in Sans and Papyrus' House, Sockswald, and other things dropped this year

While scrolling in Twitter, I found L1zardart1stre, who helped with some ideas in Deltarune: TCISAPH like Commander Dash, Friendo, and others, I also liked her secret bosses, and she is one of my main inspirations.

Sonic Theory also came out this year, and I really loved it a lot.

One day, while scrolling in Twitter, I found something, a fanart by L1zardart1stre, for a cowgirl holding a gun, I didn't know who she was and who was the made her.

Now I know who...

Tapes, Flowery, Petaly, Rosey the Revenger, and others, they all look very awesome.

However, I wasn't that happy at all. In 2023, I was actually suffering with some sort of mental illness that made me feel miserable in late 2023, and my cope mechanism was to talk to someone, I got tumblr like from long but didn't use it at all, the first person I talked in tumblr was Creepa, then Bluetheartblog (he also blocked me lamo) then I tried to talk to Emihead and Axniety but they also blocked me (I don't blame them at all, tho) and Mercair, Petra, Glitch and Grimm, and others.

And was the end of my merciless DMing spree and my stroy with this community, now, let's move on to the thanking part (I didn't draw anything for some of you, sorry).

Yeah dude, look. Most of the fandom is big into spirk so like people enjoying that romance is par for the course! I got nothing against spirk, it's just a bit of a boring dynamic so I don't really spend time on it. Too healthy for my tastes. Spones is way more juicy, it's got the tension and the sort of different world views that you see in good omens, so it's fun!

To be clear tho, spirk is as canon as it's ever been. Strong subtext, but in the way that a homophobe could watch it and say well they're just good friends. Nothing has changed in that sense, it's just another bit of footage doing more of the same. It's less gay than a lot of the original series, but it's new and shiny so on a surface level i get the excitement

Shatner, who plays Kirk, has done this as a non canon short film. It's apparently considered as canon as the novels? Which is like, not much. Most people don't engage. I haven't really looked into that, im not gonna watch it cos it kind of pisses me off

The thing that really fucks my goat about it is that the guy who plays Spock died a while ago, and didn't get along with the guy who plays Kirk. But the guy who plays Kirk has funded and produced and managed this whole thing to be about his character and his importance, regardless of the wishes of the original Spock actor. Including literally doing someone up in prosthetics to look more like Nimoy. Not just Spock generally, but specifically Nimoy's Spock. Nimoy was involved in star trek films in his late life, and he didn't choose to do this when he was alive. Only after his death has Shatner forced this to happen

That's what's leaving a really bad taste in my mouth. And I feel like people are either not accepting Nimoy's death and are happy to see him puppeted by someone he disliked, which makes me pity them. I work in aged care so I know I'm more comfortable with death than the average, but like. This is a bit fucking dark, no? It's maudlin, let him rest in peace for fucks sake.

That, or they don't mind the manipulation of his image if it tickles their ship, which makes me dislike them. And I don't think I'll really get over that any time soon, it's so disrespectful. And those are both negative feelings, so I'm kind of generally not pleased about my dash rn

I'm trying to take an angle of being about McCoy cos he doesn't feature in the short and that feels wrong. Spock-centric stuff is feeling a little tainted right now, but I'm sure that'll pass. Fanart is different to this kind of image stealing, but it's still weird for me rn. And as much as I love Kirk, I can't remove him from Shatner and his megalomania right now. I hope that'll pass, but I don't think Shatner's gonna stop here so. Hm.

Besides I like McCoy and he's not complicated by all this so I'm just continuing to play in my little sandbox

It's a weird time for trekdom. There's a bit of a rift, and not down shipping lines. I'm seeing a lot of posts working through their complicated feeling around the disrespect inherent in stealing Nimoy's face for Shatner. And I'm seeing other people celebrate the disrespect cos their ship held hands and that makes it worth it.

I'm hoping people overwhelmingly calm down a bit in a week, get a bit embarassed about how pleased they were over something so gross, and it just sort of goes away. Then we can all go back to having a go at Shatner for his constant sexism and homophobia

It's a game called Cult of The Lamb (or COTL). The ship I keep reblogging is the main protagonist (the Lamb) and their semi canon partner (the cat character called Narinder, who plays a very big role in the story). I'm afraid I can't say much more without spoiling the whole thing, but TLDR the Lamb is charged by Narinder (who is the god of death who was imprisoned and is trying to break free) to start a cult in his name. The game itself follows you playing as the Lamb running and expanding the cult, fulfilling Narinder's directives and learning about his past and life until you get to the point where you free him and get the option to make him part of the cult, whereupon you have the option to marry him. I have not played the game myself but I have absorbed a good amount of the story and lore through all the art I consume of it so this is what I would say is the bare minimum for context.

I'd say the reason this is the main ship of the fandom (and why I like to call it semi canon) is because you have control over it - you can choose to marry Narinder, and beyond that you can choose to interpret your Lamb's personality according to your own ideas and playstyle, and Narinder's own motivations, actions and arc have a very diverse representation by the fandom. It's also a thing for people to interpret them as friends or lifelong companions united by their shared immortality and loneliness. People have also created fankids for this ship (colloquially referred to as "shittens" - a cross between a sheep and a kitten)

Oh, I should mention - the goat dude that sometimes pops up is the second playable character (in the game's multiplayer mode) that people also like to add into the story. And the game itself is a roguelike that explores very dark themes in its lore, and contains loads of violence in a very cute artsyle. Which bleeds into a lot of the fanart and fanfic.

That's really the best I can offer by way of explanation, I hope this was adequate!

Tiny had some serious digestive issues lately,upset tummy and all the fun stuff that come wth it and I was worried.Vet suggested to switch her food to Hills I/D and it wrked like magic.She is doing better today andf has more energy! Tiny is my calico princess I need her to be healthy and happy!

so, funny story. i had some fanart of this game set as my phone background when i went to get a new phone. check it out here! anyway, the cleric who only really plays ff14 looked at it and went "woah, what's that? it looks like danganronpa." and i was like. yeah buddy! sure does! then, of course, i began proselytizing, about how the game's demo did an amazing job at establishing not only the game's wonderfully directed art style, with the ui and the music and everything else working together to make a perfectly opressive cyberpunk atmosphere, but how the writing of the mystery and morgans character is so intriguing and compelling and auuuugh i wanna play this fucking game dude. i love morgans smile i hope she makes me eat a bomb

2. UNBEATABLE

so imagine muse dash, but instead of high-contrast anime girls and dubious dlc practices, it's just punk as fuck. theres nothing i can say about the game other than linking the side-story/demo and telling you to just go with the flow and dig the vibes. the soundtrack rocks hard, and the visuals are so well done. everything looks like a poster collage for a garage band youve never heard of. also the trailer for the full game showed off a graffiti mechanic and thats all i need

3. Demonschool

i talked about demonschool a lot back in my nextfest post, and my thoughts havent changed at all. im a slut for strategy rpgs, and a big reason for that is i like planning my moves in advance and seeing what the best use of all my ally's abilities are. so the game's mechanic of the shared ability meter that you use for multiple moves over one turn, plus the ability to rewind moves before committing to them, AND the high level of combo potential in everything's interactivity? pumped as hell. there was recently a dev update about how you can light yourself on fire and spread that damage to the environment with every attack if that helps sell you

4. Roman Sands RE:Build

i dont need to say shit. just look at it. LOOK at it. this is so ridiculously catered to my tastes on presentation alone that i cant even come up with a hyperbolic simile. its y2k dreamcast beach artstyle, its time loop with routing optimization, its arbitrary celestial puzzle with unexplained mechanics, its stupid gomotion noodle people, its abstract nonsense that is actively and literally hostile towards the player for trying to understand it. im gonna CUM dude

5. Sorry We're Closed

how often do you see a fixed-camera shooter about a woman with three eyes? the fucking atmosphere, man. even from the demo i can tell that a la mode knows what theyre doing. i love how there isnt like, a limit or meter on your third eye, thats something i can easily see another game doing. but the downsides of only being able to hurt enemies in range AND having to aim at their weak spots is already a good balance to encourage you to switch it up. its so deliciously frictional that you have to go in first person to attack anything, and theres a delay when you do it so youve gotta be really cautious and defensive. and oh man, the cleaver enemy! that was so tense, and so much of that was from the expert audio design that made it so unclear how close he is or where exactly he is, just that hes getting closer. im gonna lose my shit about this game when the full thing drops. fun fact: this releases tomorrow, so this is literally the last day that i can post this. oops!

6. .45 PARABELLUM BLOODHOUND

how often do you see a fixed-camera shooter about a woman with three eyes? ive never played parasite eve, which this is purported to be a spiritual successor to, but the action seems really interesting. sukeban's website explains it like this: "you move and dodge in real time while you wait for an Action bar to fill at a speed determined by character and weapon stats. Once that’s done you can then stop time and plan your offensive". that sounds stupidly fun. judging by the trailers and shit, theres gonna be a big focus on combo chains and your character having multiple attacks she can switch between, but theres not much i can really say about that until theres a demo or something.

7. YIIK: A Postmodern RPG (Update I.V)

i know an update is cheating a bit, but ackk studios considers it to be a thorough enough reimagining that it almost constitutes a sequel. if you havent played the demo then you should give it a shot. my only experience with yiik before it was secondary, through discussions and lets play compilations, and i was totally blown away. the combat was totally reworked, so instead of those repetitive and drawn-out minigames its a way more engaging system where you can use "karta" as defensive shields with passive buffs or sacrifice them for spells. its one of those things that sounds weird and complicated when you explain it, but in gameplay it just kinda clicks. it also seemed to double down on he surrealism and abstract psychological themes, which is my fucking jam. i think missed potential is the worst flaw something can have, so hearing that yiik is growing into its most flawless form is exciting as hell

8. FreeJack Online

unfortunately, i found out about this game about a month after its last online playtest. the dev's discord says they wont reopen unless they find a publisher, and theyre not sure if thats gonna happen reasonably soon. but secondhand, this game looks like a killer time. you guys know im super into this hip hop skatepunk urban style, so even if the gameplay is total shit ill still be all over the ost and character design. but this gameplay doesnt look like shit! you build up trick combos and that contributes to your speed as you parkour around and try to win races. its been a while since ive sunk myself in a competitive online game and i think thisll be what gets me back into it, someday

9. Hyper Light Breaker

yknow im kinda surprised this list hasnt been more roguelikes considering how much i play em. hlb looks like its aiming for an interesting combo of roguelike and open-world, and im really interested in how that shakes out. the combat looks like a really good transition of the speedy high-stakes fighting from hld into 3d. im really hopeful for this game, especially everything heart machine is going through with gearbox and the fanbase backlash for the delays.

10. The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy-

im saying this counts as indie because im in denial. so, i mentioned how the phone clerk guy was a danganronpa fan, right? he played all the mainline games, and even got into zero escape looking for more (he played VLR before 999? lmao) but he had no idea what too kyo games was. never heard of Death Come True, or Akudama Drive, or World's End Club, or Rain Code, or Tribe Nine. really goes to show how much publicity matters, huh? anyway, in case you couldnt tell, i am a 'fan' of danganronpa. theres a lot you could say about it, like how the writing is juvenile and contrarian and how it consistently struggles to write unpredictable mysteries despite this and also how kodaka just fundamentally fails at writing minorities and the pacing issues and flat characters and... you get it. but its never boring. and considering they officially hired the guy who wrote the spin-off novel where kirigiri gets cloned into a houseplant, i feel like its just gonna get less boring from here

6. Phewww, basically what makes me reblog a piece of fanart? If an expression is true to the character. GREAT LIGHTING. Abstract use of color and texture, lately. Creative outfits. Lighting. If you want the short answer, it'll always be great lighting, I think.

For what I'd call "expressive clarity", my favorite artworks on Tumblr have always been by @/itistimetodisappear, @/monoflaxart, @/dreamsoffools, and @/jackthevulture. They all did lots of Httyd art back in the day, even though each of them has moved on from it now and it would be hard to track down anything of their work if one is not willing to do a deep dive into their archives or whatever.

For the background grunge that I so crave more of, I've been paying attention to @/alouavic and @/yusufart. @/snekky-arts too, but you know that one ;)

As for motives that I love seeing...dragons? Any flying creatures? Well made, fleshed out character designs? Architecture? Dunno, could be anything - if it's my style, I'll put it on my blog! Sorry, that was an unnecessarily long answer now, but I kind of found it a hard question!

16. A detail in the Httyd canon that I appreciate A LOT are just Hiccup's outfits!!! They are BORING!!! (Mainly talking about 1 and 3 here) I LOVE THEM SO MUCH YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW they are not hyper-overdone, they look functional, comfortable, appropriate, and they put the focus on Hiccup's character rather than his appearance. My dude is wearing simple greens and browns. What. And I didn't like his Httyd2 outfit, but it was clever and looked absolutely silly on him. It was so so cool but at the same time, you know, nothing to brag about, like a swimming champion in a speedo and goggles. It makes him amazing at what he does, but it's not conventionally attractive, if you get the gist??? It's fantastic.

A detail in Tales of Arcadia that I love is the way shadow magic works and the way Claire manages to master it. It's generally a less trafficked road to go, an introvert's realm if you like, away from the noise of changelings invading schools and the like, ...so she gets to experiment with it and makes it hers. Nice.

A detail in Narnia that I love is the sea of lilies that the party encounters at the end of the world in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

And a very neat detail in Trigun Stampede is the way Vash's glasses reflect light, sometimes obscuring his eyes or suddenly making them visible, which is an AWESOME feature to make the viewer guess his thoughts. You should give it a watch, maybe only the first episode! I wouldn't know if you like it, but there's a certain tenderness about Vash that you might appreciate as well :)

Taking a moment out of my study time to share some ways to help u feel more comfortable an confident when drawing characters :>

1. Try drawing characters from memory: no one wants to draw a character wrong, but sometimes you gotta see what parts of their design really stick with you and which ones kinda fade away. When u always check a reference you may subconsciously just redo the same thing over and over, and that can make every drawing just seem like a copy paste of the original. I promise no one is going to kill you for forgetting a detail or 10 lol so just wing it every once in a while

2. Try drawing at a different size than what you normally do: something I found can help is drawing either bigger or smaller than your normal drawing size. Having to compress or enlarge proportions can actually be very enlightening as to how you draw specific things (when I draw smaller I tend to make facial features bigger, and I do the opposite when I draw bigger). You may even find that you actually LIKE drawing at a different size, so it’s good to try at least once lol

3. Purposely make characters with traits or body types you need practice drawing: speaking from experience here when I say that nothing makes you wanna better yourself more than a guy you love but can’t draw lmfao. This also goes for things you don’t even necessarily LIKE drawing. Give characters what some deem as “ugly” features, it’s actually the best thing ever and I love it and I will fight someone over it (crooked teeth and overbites and big ears and fat all over and body hair and fucked up hairlines I am kissing it all with my mouth)

4. Draw existing characters/others characters: am I telling you to make fanart? Yes. Draw that character from your childhood cartoon, draw the dude from the comic you like, draw that pretty handsome lady oc you saw cross your dash. Even if you end up not sharing it, the practice with drawing something NOT from your own brain actually helps quite a lot with figuring things out that ARE in your brain

5. Just get fucky with it: ok so pretty much, just go ham. Draw fast and loose, draw rigid and dark. Try different line weights, make em scratchy, make em clean. Just try every possible thing you can (maybe not all at once, or do. That’s fun too LMAO) and hold nothing back. Try something you have NO practice in at all just to see how it goes. Try to add shading, try making everything flat, try adding color, try adding different filters. Worst case scenario you don’t like how it looks, best case scenario you LOVE it. I know this point is kinda vague or whatever, but really doing just whatever without rules is so fun! I didn’t like making digital color things until I fucked around and did smth I liked, and now I color things a lot more. Really truly, just try things!!

Season 5 of the dragon prince comes out soon. and I'm gonna watch it, bc I'm genuinely interested in the story and (some) of the characters but Bro.

This show could have been SOOOO GOOD and in my opinion it is just so. so held back by all these weird avoidable flaws

like, the extremely childish humor. like bad

the weird writing, the odd pacing, the strange focus on humor bits that aren't funny and literally take away precious time from the VERY INTRICATE PLOT THEYRE TRYING TO TELL BUT NO LOOK AT THESE PASTRIES GETTING ON PEOPLE'S FACES HEHEHE FART JOKE AS WELL

and the conflicts are Extremely Obvious and on the nose. like that episode between the sun elves and the human camp

I know this show is inspired by avatar but that's like the perfect example of how to make a show for kids that isn't excessively Childish. they've made like 4 kinda tryhard avatar references so LEARN FROM THE SHOW U KEEP TALKING ABT BRO 😭😭

now that I think about it the entirety of the dragon prince feels like of all of atla was under the same writing vibes as the great divide episode. like epic plot, epic characters (aaravos, the dragons, rayla and the moonshadow elves, viren, ezran as a child king!) But then they have the most threatening character in the entire show do shit like nose booping for a funny haha. but it's so cringe

or when they made that weird joke about claudia loving the smell of her boyfriends farts bc they smell like petrichor?? HELLO????

I could also mention the elephant in the room of how aaron eehasz got allegations for having a semi-abusive work environment (especially towards women) during like seasons 1 and 2 I think?? Idk where that went cause its been such a long time and I don't follow anything about the show aside from watching it

I feel bad saying this cause they aren't even problematic necessarily its just very weird and annoying and kinda. Kinda dumb

I see so many tdp posts on my dash just from following the tag of people obsessing over rayla and callum like its the deepest het ship in existence when its two teenagers who have known each other for like a year and have very basic chemistry

and it follows the same weird Fandom phenomenon that royai does where you have a perfectly healthy and equal het ship and the fandom takes it and goes OOOH LETS PUT GENDER ROLES ON IT AND CALL IT CUTE <333

also people commenting about how deep the show is when it's really?? Not?? They paint it with flowery language and dramatics in these pretentious tumblr posts about the show and then it's really not that at all? like don't get me wrong the world building is obviously intricate and you can tell they went full in and had fun with it (behind the scenes) but how much of it really made it into the show. and also...worldbuilding =/= emotional depth.

there ARE really good moments and the coin thing with raylas family is cool and so it claudia's journey but even some of these are cut down by the random shitty humor that's always ruining everything including tense scenes, moods, and screentime

also the other day someone posted an AI generated image of a dude who barely looked like callum with actual random circles on his face from AI distortion, tagged it, paraded it off as fanart, and there were like FORTY PEOPLE IN THE NOTES SAYING LIKE "great fanart :3" "love the idea!" "nice art!" And I commented that it was AI and they blocked me like YOU GUYS ARE SO....STUPID
