Pearl the Seawing (TLH)
(Trying to experiment with style a bit more)
[Image ID: A digital drawing of a light green seawing named Pearl. They have pink round fins on their chest, legs, all the way down their back. Their bioluminescent scales are oval shaped and have a pearl like color, as well as the round esca on their stalk. Their horns are like shells, they have long eyelashes, and two pearly piercings on their left brow. They're standing with a neutral expression. /.End ID]

Tribe Banner concept art:
Folks seemed to enjoy my WOF WIPS, so here’s more concept art for y’all! My favorite thing about WOF is the potential for world building. I thought it’d be cool to see a tribe emblem represented on a banner/flag of sorts:
Read below for some of the thought process / headcannons behind the design choices: 👇
Skywing Banner:
Skywings pride themselves on 3 things; treasure, fire, & their enormous, soaring wingspan which steals the sky.
As such, portrayed on the banner, the fabric (often made with dyed cow or goat leathers) resembles draped dragon wings. Two Skywings embrace a goblet, which is spewing golden fire.
The banner is often held aloft with iron or gold poles, signifying to other tribes their wealth and pride.
Mudwing banner:
These banners are fashioned with leather hides from cow or crocodile skin, held aloft with bamboo, and painted with a Talon-print & Reed crest.
The talonprint symbolizes community and the strength of Mudwing sibling bonds. The reed border unifies all Mudwings regardless of their relationship to home; the swamp. Bigwings are often seen carrying these into battle, signifing their status and making it easier for a sib to locate them in the flurry of a fight.
Sandwing Banner:
Sandwing flags are made with camel skins and dyed cactus leather.
A crest shows a Sandwing coiled around a beaming sun, a reminder that despite the revered 3 moons, Sandwings are born to thrive in sunlight.
The fabric is cut in a way to mimic the swooping dunes of Sandwing territory. And the poles of the flags are equally intricate, with scorpion tails and golden ropes which frame the banner.
These flags make prominent appearances in parades, festivals, and markets, and even miniature version are often displayed in homes or as tapestries/carpets.
Seawing banner:
These banners are often seen displayed in royal quarters or councils, or above land to mark territory.
A nautilus shell crest on front echoes the swirl-pattern associated with royal Seawings: The banner’s borders resemble waves and a dragon swimming beneath their surface.
These are crafted with rich materials, strung with seashells, pearls, silver dollars, and deep oceanic color fabric. There is severe penalty for Seawings found plucking treasure from the banners, as they are a direct symbol of royalty.
Nightwing Banner:
These banners emphasize the Nightwings’ relationship to the moon, their source of power and praise. The material, a contrast of white stitching against purple velvet showcases moonlight and night, black scales against stars, magic and mystery.
They are seen decorated with 3 moons at the top and a centered dragon reaching up into the night sky.
These banners were often used during the war as secret code by spies to deliver to other tribes. Prophecy scrolls often came attached, delivering cryptic messages or secrets in the night. These banners all helped add to the secrecy of the Dragonet Prophecy, and kept tribes on their toes around Nightwings.
Rainwing banner:
Rainwing banners are not used for battle purposes like other tribes, most are mere decoration, location indicators, and have no unified design.
However, It is said back when Rainwings left the rainforest to trade pre-war, this particular banner design was often raised above Rainwing merchant tables, and showcases the coiled tail of a Rainwing with leaves, vines, and other sights from the rainforest adorning a bamboo pole. Bright color combinations accentuated the flag to entice curious customers.
Now, only one tattered version of the original Rainwing banner remains, displayed proudly in Queen Glory’s quarters, a reminder that building the Rainwings’ community is their most important goal.
Icewing Banner:
These banners reflect the same standards Icewings hold themselves to.
Like a visual of the rankings themselves, each banner is cut perfectly from an Icewing’s trained, serrated claws to resemble icicles, and crafted with fine blue stitching.
Flags are often held aloft with perfectly polished narwhal horn or bone, and can be inlaid with sapphires or diamond.
Icewing soldiers are often gifted these during ceremonies, and perform training exercises with the flags to test their stance/attentiveness. The crest showcases the swift sharpness of ice through a flying dragon, and a snowflake toward the bottom reminding Icewings that even minuscule snowflakes, small things, should be perfect in form.

Who is the current seawing queen? What is she like?
Tumblr media
"Queen Isopod is the kingdoms current queen after a seawing ambush killed her mother and sisters. A small and pale seawing with eyes always on the brink of bursting into tears. The crown is awkwardly balanced on her head as its a bit too heavy and bit too big for her.
To summarize, she is completely lost in panic and worry. Some say it was due to the sudden death of her mother and others believe it is because she never wanted nor expected the throne. She was tossed into leadership with no warning. Leadership during a war where all eyes are on you for what to do. An especially heavy crown thanks to Pearl and her... strong... leadership style.
She never leaves the deepsea palace because of these worries. A big reason Argile made the earring...
Many on the seawing council take advantage of this anxious state she is in. As one whisper of possible spies or traitors sends her into a panic, she'll do anything to keep herself safe. I honestly feel quiet sad for the young queen. She had no time to grieve and I fully believe she never left that night her mother died.
More alarming is how her usually shaky run away fear is turning into an angry violent fear. Ive seen long respected generals get dragged away to shark nests for failing to catch someone she found to be threatening.... this isnt her though... it cant be...
Her new council member Prawn has become close to queen... suspicious he is..."

Drama Queen
Tumblr media
A follow up of my previous hugging post, where Orca killed Coral, becoming queen and wanting to achieve immortality through animus experiments with her daughters, the latest being Tsunami.
Orca is a lonely dragon, distrustful of everyone and everything, she surrounded herself with her magnum opus statues of seawings on 1:1 scale.
They are unable to speak with their queen, but she is fine with that, for their absolute obedience and loyalty far outperforms any living seawing from the council, army or commoner.
Sometimes when things don't go as she plans, Orca organizes a small theatrical drama, all her statues watch, maybe unable to show visible confusion, as their queen babbles about her life and random happenings, coping and crying about her personal failures and shortcomings, but they always clap, regardless...

Day 40 of drawing random Wof dragons from the wiki…
Tumblr media
Tortoise!
“Tortoise was a female SeaWing who was introduced in The Lost Heir. She served as the chief representative of the dragonet care position within the SeaWing Council until she was executed by Queen Coral for failing to protect the Royal Hatchery by having all her teeth pulled out forcibly until she died.” -The WOF wiki.

WoF Worldbuilding: Court Positions
The Courts of Pyrrhan and Pantalan royals are made up of many moving parts. A Monarch can't rule on their own!
The court hierarchy is as follows:
Monarch/Queen: Monarch is used for most "queens" who don't identify as female, though Queen is the default. Referred to as "Your Grace/Your Majesty/Queen or Monarch [Name]" King/Queen Consort: Referred to as "Your Grace/Queen or King Consort or Consort [Name]" Royal Family: The monarch's offspring (biological or otherwise) who may or may not hold other positions within the court. Referred to as "Prince/Princess [name]" Royal Advisors: The exact positions depend on the exact kingdom. Referred to as "Advisor [Name]" Generals/Commanders: High-ranking military/guards are often parts of a council held by the Monarch. Referred to as "General [Name]" Lords/Ladies: The family of the Monarch and their Consort, may hold other titles as well. May be aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, etc. Referred to as "Lord/Lady [Name]" Ambassador(s): Referred to as "Ambassador [Name]" Guards: Referred to as just their name Royal Staff: "Servants" as scavengers would call them, though any and all positions within the Courts are valued. Include the cooks, smiths, favored craftsmen/artisans, assistants, etc
Not all courts are built the same, however. For example, the IceWing and NightWing courts follow this structure, while RainWings follow a looser structure.
Below the cut: The ranks for each court
SandWings
Monarch/Queen
King/Queen Consort
Royal Family
Generals/Commanders
Guards
Royal Staff: -> Steward- manages the fortress and directs the other staff -> Monarch's Personal Aid- Assists the monarch in their daily duties -> Head Cook/Cooks- Prepares meals for the fortress residents -> Dragonet Tender- watches over the royal dragonets as well as any dragonets belonging to any other court members
*Being a more harsh community (especially after the War of SandWing Succession), most Monarchs don't hold an advisory council like other tribes, instead tending to rule with a spy/informant network as well as their own knowledge of the territory
MudWings
Monarch/Queen
King/Queen Consort
Royal Family- Unlike other tribes, Advisors, Generals, Guards, and the Steward are chosen from the Monarch's Troop, and are also considered part of the Royal Family. If the Troop isn't large enough or is no longer together, other dragons may be put into place

random, but do you have any headcanons about the dragonets of destiny?
indeed i do! i've been obsessed with the dod since i read the first book (IN 2012!!!) so i've had a lot of time to think about them. mostly i have design headcanons though, since it's harder for me to think up personality/character headcanons, but here's a short list!
CLAY
i headcanon mudwing bigwings as having tattoos of their troop's talonprints on their wings, so he has the other dod's talons on his
he has to wear a leg brace after the dragonbite viper wound, as he has permanent joint/nerve damage and some muscle atrophy
also, he became interested in medicine while being treated for the viper bite, and enjoys it as a way he can protect those he loves without hurting others <3
he and sunny are also enjoying learning to cook together!
TSUNAMI
she may have coral's colors, but she bears a striking resemblance to gill. she also has pink accents, as i headcanon that as a major trait in the seawing royal family
she wears a shell earring in one ear to remember her seawing family. i don't think she'd enjoy wearing pearl strings, they would get in the way too much
has nightmares not only about killing gill, but about being restrained and unable to protect the other dod. i think being chained to a rock while glory was going to be killed/fighting in the arena did a number on her.
is the big protective den mama of the jade mountain winglets. no getting past her to her students!
GLORY
dull scales, but that helps her blend into shadows more than other rainwings, who are used to hiding in the splendor of the rainforest, while she learned from hiding in a cave.
is trying really hard to connect to her heritage. this includes attending lessons with friends and dragonet classes to learn rainwing crafts and skills. she likes trying out different fruits.
i think it would be neat if she made a co-council of rainwings and nightwings for leading both tribes, and had a nightwing ruler alongside her. who that would be, idk.
has been working with a lot of queens to establish trade agreements and things, which gives her a lot of hot goss on the other royal happenings. i think her favorite to work with would have been glacier before she died.
STARFLIGHT
WEARS GLASSES!! had terrible eyesight growing up, the guardians managed to get some glasses for him from one of the other Talons. still wears tinted glasses after he was blinded, even though his eyes were inucleated, because the weight is comforting
also has black teardrop scales next to his eyes, which would have been silver if he'd hatched under three moons
autism incarnate
ends up teaching science classes at jma, with fatespeaker handling the library while he's teaching
SUNNY
i need her to have brown colorpointing and black freckles and stars on her wings you don't understand
dune put two and two together on thorn being so cagey about her boyfriend and quickly realized sunny is a hybrid. lied to the other guardians and said 'oh some sandwings just look like that. yeah see even blister has black markings. oh the tail? uhhh her egg was damaged or something idk'
sunny was really like a daughter to dune, not just because she's a sandwing but because she's thorn's kid
she has a LOT of hobbies, and wants to learn how to do everything! she's pretty good at drawing and cooking
aroace!! and probably some range of nonbinary as well

SeaWing guide
Tumblr media
HELP ITS IN MY SPINAL CHORD
ITS SLITHERING CLOSER TO MY BRAIN (From the wikifandom) SeaWing Overview
Alternate Names: Often called sea dragons or ocean dragons by humans.
Primary Habitat: Kingdom of the Sea, an expansive underwater realm in Pyrrhia.
Current Ruler: Queen Seashell, (Descendant of Queen Coral, Anemone, Tsunami, Auklet, Turtle and Gill)
Physical Description
General Appearance:
Body Shape: Compact with streamlined bodies designed for swimming; short legs and long, muscular tails aid in swift underwater movement.
Unique Features: Curved horns, forked or non-forked tongues, and two barbels below the jaw.
Webbed Talons: Talons have hooked claws for gripping and webbed spines from neck to tail.
Scale Colors:
Common Shades: Blues and greens like aquamarine, indigo, and blue-green.
Rare Variations: Pink-hued scales or wings and intricate black spirals (e.g., on dragons like Nautilus).
Appearance in Sunlight: Scales appear like glossy gemstones, shimmering like emeralds and sapphires.
Bioluminescent Stripes:
Purpose: Used for underwater communication (Aquatic language) and attraction.
Royal Markings: Royal family members have glowing spirals and starburst patterns on wing undersides, while non-royals have simpler starburst designs.
Eyes: Generally blue or green in color.
Eggs: SeaWing eggs are green or blue, and heavier closer to hatching.
Dietary Habits
Primary Diet:
Raw fish is a staple, along with marine life such as squid, whales, octopi, turtles, crabs, and sea snails. Lower-class SeaWings eat eels, sometimes insultingly referred to as a “lower” food choice.
Special Dishes:
Celebrations: Raw tuna wrapped in seaweed and stuffed with fish eggs, served on hatching days.
For Guests: SeaWings often prepare soups, stews, or roasted seagull when hosting other tribes.
Historic Feasts: Previously enjoyed coconut rice, tuna rolls, and a mango-lime drink.
Food Restrictions:
Dolphins: Banned due to Queen Coral’s belief in a distant relation to dragons, or to prevent any accidental harm to Princess Anemone, whose colors resemble a dolphin’s.
Abilities
Swimming and Underwater Abilities:
Breathing: Gills located on the necks allow underwater respiration.
Night Vision: Exceptional, allowing clear underwater vision.
Swimming Strength: Webbed talons and strong tails provide powerful swimming and wave-generating abilities.
Bioluminescence:
Glow Control: Each stripe can be individually controlled to signal specific meanings, forming words in Aquatic.
Communication and Attraction: Bioluminescence aids in silent communication and attracting mates underwater.
Vulnerability to Dehydration:
Dehydration Effect: SeaWings deprived of water may go mad, becoming unaware of their actions. This rare state was notably observed in Gill, who suffered severe dehydration.
Animus Magic:
Hereditary Trait: Found in the royal bloodline, though use is now banned following the Royal SeaWing Massacre.
Control: Queens strictly monitor animus dragons to prevent abuse, making animus use forbidden in the Kingdom.
Society
Social Structure and Duties:
Palace Roles: Many SeaWings work within the palace, including jobs in pearl diving, weaving, carving, hunting, gardening, and childcare.
Council Meetings: Queen Coral leads council meetings to discuss tribal affairs, with council members often from the royal family.
Cultural Traits:
Known for intelligence and an appreciation for the arts, SeaWings are seen as a peaceful yet deeply strategic tribe.
Many SeaWings enjoy the ocean’s beauty and participate in traditional arts like carving, weaving, and literature.
Pets and Decor:
SeaWings keep marine pets such as seahorses, cuttlefish, and bobtail squid, along with decorative animals like luminescent jellyfish for visual appeal.
Literature:
Queen Coral is an avid writer, whose scrolls are standard reading in schools, though their quality is debated among the tribe.
Naming Traditions
Names Derived from the Sea:
Names commonly reference oceanic elements, creatures, or colors, such as Coral, Turtle, or Cerulean.
Other Inspiration Sources:
Jewels: Names can also be derived from gemstones, such as Sapphire and Pearl.
Oceanic Phenomena: Includes names like Tsunami, Ripple, and Whirlpool.
Trivia
Legends and Myths: One legend tells of an abandoned SeaWing dragonet raised by orcas.
Scientific Awareness: Knowledge of water’s conductivity is evident in their prison setup to prevent escapes.
Preferred Foods: SeaWings would likely enjoy sushi the most, given their aquatic diet and preference for raw fish.
Bioluminescence Count: On average, SeaWings have about 180 bioluminescent scales, allowing intricate communication patterns.

Note
imagine the seeing royalty dynamic between queen/king sabertooth and Princex reader is like coral and orca where reader kills their older brother Graydon so that he can't be a problem for them when they fight their father for the throne. Reader goes to fight and kill their father, but they fail and sabertooth kills them, then their soul is reincarnated into a statue of them in the palace.
Before the fight they stashed the only egg (Laura) in their uncle's bag before he left the kingdom due to being banished. Leaving only Kyle to inherit the throne after sabortooth dies unexpectedly.
Kyle rules with little to no problems, except for a few unexpectedly dead council members and assassins getting their neck snapped before they can try and do their job.
Laura returns to the seawing palace and works with Kyle to try and figure out who or what is haunting the palace and it's inhabitants.
Only to swear they just saw the statue of their long dead sibling blink.
SeaWing Queen/King Kyle: We must get to the bottom of this!
SeaWing Princess Laura: Right!
SeaWing Ghost Princex Reader: Boo!
Kyle and Laura: ...
Kyle and Laura: AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!! UNCLE/DAD!!! THERE'S A GHOST!!!
SeaWing Ghost Reader, in the Hatchery:
SeaWing Ghost Queen/King Sabretooth: MY child, you're here!!! Come give Papa a hug!!!
Reader: NO!!! GO AwaY!
Sabretooth: squeezes them in a tight hug
Reader: NOOOOOOOOOOO-!
An assassin: Hmmm, sure is quiet...
Reader's Statue: turns to look at them
An assassin: stares
Reader's Statue: jumpscares them
An assassin: AAAAHHHHHHHG-!

A Guide to the Dragon World - fan edition | something I'm working on
Since I made the post asking for headcanons, here's a post to show what I already have and plan to write for this project.
I loved A Guide to the Dragon World, but I can never really get enough of world-building so after the guide was released, I started to write my own little fan editions of things that could have gone in the guide. I've been writing things in sections, but I hope to be able to put them together and stylize them a bit like the guide, although maybe not as well since the guide is beautifully done with art and design that I won't be able to do.
Anyway, I'm not done with it, I'm taking my time with it because I haven't been the most motivated for a while, but I'm getting back into it and I've been wondering what I should do with it. I'm currently writing it somewhere only I can see, but I would love to be able to share it with others. They would kind of just be more narrative approaches to my headcanon posts.
I've been thinking if I should post everything together on a fanfiction website, or post each section individually as Tumblr posts, although this would make it harder to find everything. So what I'm going to do right now is just give a list of the things I'm writing to include in it, and if anyone is interested, let me know so I can see what sounds like the best.
The way I'm writing these fanmade sections is basically like add-ons to the original guide. Some of them include notes that refer to sections in the real guide, so it's meant to be read as if it is in the official guide. I also wanted to try to include as many characters as I could (counting characters who were in the official guide), so hopefully by doing that, it made it so that I'm writing about a wider topic of things.
(some things already have names because I finished writing them, but for others I only have overviews, but everything will eventually have its own name).
Introduction
This little beginning section in the actual guide is just the Scorching legend and the map.
Info about the first tribe and resettlement after the Scorching. Basically, it gives more detailed descriptions of the dragons during this time and how the tribes were eventually formed after the Scorching happened.

A Complex History of Dragon Queens
An entirely new section dedicated to giving a list of all known queens in chronological order of rule with short biographies for each. It starts with the first dragon queen after the Scorching and goes up to Queen Jewel of the HiveWings; and includes queens there is little known about, including the MudWing queen during Moccasin's time, Queen Lagoon's mother, Opal's queen, Queen Anaconda and Princess Python's mother, Vigilance's daughter, Snowfox's daughter, Grandeur's mother, Sequoia's mother, and so many more!
There are currently 86 queens featured (and maybe more to come)!
Time and Holidays in the Dragon World
Another new section dedicated to explaining how time passes (months, seasons, etc) and the many holidays celebrated by different tribes. This section will include information about ancient holidays, along with new ones celebrated post-arc 3.
Animus Magic
This new section will feature information about one of the most mysterious things in the history of Dragonkind, animus magic. This section, written by Turtle, will include facts, theories, and histories of animus magic.
Dragon Biology
A new section dedicated to the biology of the different tribes, including the rarity of scale colors, possible patterns, possible mutations, information about hybrids, heights, diet, and other more scientific information
Humans
Yes, I really did mean that I want to get as many characters as I can into this, including the human characters. But instead of trying to put them into other sections, I'm giving them their own section so it's very easily skippable for those who don't like humans mixed into their dragon guide.
This section will include:
The murder of Queen Oasis from the human perspective by Rose
The many human cities of Pyrrhia by Ivy, Leaf, and Wren
The Human Cities of Pantala by Axolotl and Raven
The Sad Story of Humans in a Dragon World by Rowan
The Human Empires on Pyrrhia and the True Story of the Scorching by Luna
Scavengers are Friends, not Pets by Winter

Pontalo Continent AU Information
HydroWings full information (mostly based on the SeaWing wiki page)!
Tumblr media
HydroWings, also known as sea/ocean dragons to humans (like the SeaWings) are the ancestors of the SeaWings and are a Pontalonian dragon tribe that currently live in their deepest palace Atlantis, in the waters near the (unnamed, but not a dragon continent) continent ShapeWing Queen Paradox fled to after the Great ShapeWing Genocide. Currently, they are ruled by Queen Dolphin, daugher of Paradox and Shape/HydroWing hybrid, and King Tiger Shark. They speak an ancient version of Aquatic and the Pontalonian dragon language.
The HydroWings fled to Atlantis after a BloodWing-controlled royal named Bull Shark caused The Great Royal HydroWing Massacre, the HydroWings realizing the full threat of the BloodWings. Only a few royals survived, including the current King Tiger Shark, prince at the time, who stopped Bull Shark.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Description:
Like their descendants, they are slightly shorter than the other tribes, with long, compact bodies and short legs. HydroWings have curved horns, a slender, curved snout, and two long barbels on the underside of their jaw. They can have forked or unforked tongues. They have huge webbed spines along their foreheads to the tips of their tails, as well as on their chests and backs of their legs, connected to their belly and tail. HydroWings have webbed talons with hooked claws, as well as long, powerful tails, with a fish tail that rapidly accelerates them through the water. They have gills on the sides of their necks that allow them to breathe underwater, although they can go deeper than SeaWings. HydroWings can also have darker striped/sea creature markings (like tiger shark stripes, orca, spots, etc.)
They usually have scale colors in shades of blues, greens, and grays. Although on some rare cases, purple, and pink scales, wings, or horns. Also, some HydroWings can have black spirals/stripe patterns like the SeaWing Nautilus. They usually have shades of blue or green eyes, and rarely purple.
HydroWings have glowing luminescent scales/stripes along their faces, bodies, and wings. All HydroWings have glowing spirals on the edges and starburst markings on the undersides of their wings, which royal SeaWings inherited, as they are the closest descendants to the HydroWings. However, non-royal Hydrowings have fainter markings.
HydroWing eggs are usually dark blue or green, and like SeaWing eggs, heavy, especially before they hatch.
Diet:
HydroWings eat fish, squid, whales, octopi, turtles, crabs, sea birds, clams, lobsters, sharks, dolphins, and sea snails. They can prepare soup, stew, roasted seagull, sushi, sashimi, and a variety of drinks.
Abilities:
They are able to manipulate water, have excellent night vision, gills, and can use their fish tails to create huge waves or to hit opponents. Burns and other physical wounds can be healed with ocean water, like SeaWings.
They use their bioluminescent stripes to converse underwater in an ancient form of Aquatic, as well as attract partners.
HydroWings dehydrate faster than SeaWings, and get driven mad faster, having no control over their state.
Animus magic:
Animus HydroWings are quite common, as animus blood is in the royal SeaWing bloodline. Most HydroWings don’t use their powers, and they aren’t very controlled closely, as most HydroWings are animus dragons.
Society:
HydroWings are considered intelligent and creative, and members have jobs like carving, weaving, hunting, gardening, dragonet caretaking, pearl-diving, and enlisting in the army. Writers also write scrolls.
Like the SeaWing council, there is a HydroWing council that meets regularly, consisting of the most trusted HydroWings and the remaining royals.
They can keep pets like squids, seahorses, sea dragons, cuttlefish, and turtles.
Names:
Usually they are named after shark and dolphin species, but some can be named after sea wildlife, shades of blue, gemstones, aquatic anatomies, or oceanic phenomena.
Trivia:
Compared to the SeaWings’ average 180 bioluminescent scales, Hydrowings have around 240.
They love sushi and sashimi!
They use toothpaste like the SeaWings in Darkstalker’s time.

SkyWings - The Fast Tribe of Pyrrhia
(You have no idea how tempted I was to put “highest” instead of fastest)
Appearance - SkyWings are tall dragons with large wings. They can span in colors from reds to oranges to yellows, usually with blue, purple, white, or black accents. They have feather-like fins at the end of their tails to allow for better steering.
Culture - SkyWings value strength, charisma, and power, and even the poorest of SkyWings can make their way to wealth if they’re strong enough. Competition is within just about every holiday within the Sky Kingdom, and all members of The Council fought their way to their spots. SkyWings also tend to be loud and boisterous, and it is rare for one to hide their feelings.
Abilities - SkyWings are the strongest fliers in Pyrrhia, they can survive extreme temperatures and terrain, and can breathe fire, and rarely, their scales can be imbued with said power, making them impossible to touch without severe burns or death.
The current SkyWing Queen, Talon, is as strong as she is intelligent. Even when she was hatched prematurely, leading to a smaller stature, she still beat her mother, Owl, in a proper fight for the throne.
More: (may be late to update these are scheduled)

random silly little thought for your silly little wof au but what if orca made tsunami look like coral because deep down she missed her mother
Just my silly little thought :3
I believe you wouldn't be wrong, but really deep down.
Orca as I envisioned her is a deeply lonely dragon.
She replaced the council, her royal guards, everything around her with statues, that she has yet to be able to make them capable of speech.
She believes their unquestionable obedience is preferable to turmoil and plotting against her. Since well... Coral was really popular, and she isn't, she not only killed her mother, but the reveal of her to be an animus sent shockwaves through the queendom.
An animus killed the royal family thousands of years ago (wink wink) and now, once again, this animus murdered her family and sits at the top.
Orca probably feels more for Gill, though, she exiled him, afraid he could marry someone again and challenge her throne.
In his wandering, he was captured by the skywings. Tourmaline (never turned to Ruby, killed Scarlet earlier, but revealed to be even worse than her mother) thought she could use Gill for the withdraw of the seawings from the war, but Orca simply didn't care.
But well, dang, I could talk on for hours about how much I changed in this AU.

Whirlpool!
“Whirlpool was an adult male SeaWing who was introduced in The Lost Heir. He was a royal scribe, a friend and advisor of Queen Coral, and a member of the SeaWing Council. He was killed by Anemone when she knocked him into a moat of electric eels.” -The WOF wiki.
@mythos321 here’s the final pose!
