man the mirror scene feels kinda Genuine to me for xarrai’s playthrough. he’s obvs still trying to play the game esp at the end when he’s like “it’s not that bad being reflected in someone else’s eyes hehe” but i do also feel it’s one of those moments where xarrai recognizes he’s workin through some shit and drops the act a Little. gives him a peek behind the mask because they feel he deserves that much. and i think it’s one more step toward astarion going from “this is the most annoying little bard alive” to “oh i kind of like them.”

#i think they two of them fall in love in those little microseconds whether neither of them are playing their game just as much as they fall #in love BECAUSE of the game they’re playing #like. xar constantly gives him little peeks behind the curtain because they feel it’s only fair when he’s being frankly #pretty fucking vulnerable with them wrt to the cazador shit #and i think they’re both clinging to those tantalizing little glimpses of each other #just as much as they’re enjoying astarion’s game of trying to seduce them and xar playing along bc they want fo know what he wants from them #and like. they’re mirror images of each other. they KEEP seeing themselves in each other in weird ways #even if they are dealing with the idea of freedom and what to do with it and how to get it very differently LOL #for a while anyway #oc. xarrai #r. hold me like a knife #bg3 spoilers #idk the mirror scene is p early but who knows
