Penguins of the Madagascar 200 follower event :D
So, Uh, this is one of the two that won [the other being We Happy Few], and so I write!
This is going off of a Intern! [Reader] for these, as that makes the most sense in the in-universe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, To start things off with a Dave's Intern reader, I should likely explain why you're an intern, and more specifically, Dave's intern.
Dr. Octavius Brine is a scientist, but we the audience know that he is an octopus. Well, he needs someone to take care of PR [Public Relations] and menial things like interviews, so he hires a little intern/assisstant to do things for him.
Now, he's sort of forgetful of you, [as seen by 'accidentally' kidnapping you when he asks you to follow him onto the sub]. Essentially, he asked you to come onto the submarine with him so that then he could talk to you about coming out to the public with a submarine and why does he have it? But then, he got confirmation that he got the penguins and he ordered Geoffrey "rush to Italy!" While you're on board.
Now, if this is the Reader who simply thinks, 'Eh, money is money', then the minute things that happen like his constant obsession with eating fish and adding octopus motifs onto things, are simply things you don't acknowledge. And realistically, it likely is, so that's another thing we're sticking with.
Now, Dave is already Needy with human's attention, so having one that doesn't care about him being an octopus? Well, he's very attached to his little assistant, waving off little concerns about why he needs an intern around so much with just "I'm teaching them, now, don't interupt me." Dave is Needy, as we just focused on, but also Overprotective due to most of the good things in his life leaving him for 'cuter' animals, like humans attention at zoos. He finds himself often coming closer to you when anyone talks to you [whether they be a scientist or reporter] and wrapping an arm [tentacle] around you as you speak to them, trying to ward them off without saying a word. Clingy is more-so another factor of him staying with you, sticking with your personality and person even when the reporters and scientists are long gone, leaving him to slowly crave your praise and adoration, rather than others. Of course, they still give him a dopamine rush, but nothing makes him happier he's making evil plans than hearing you praise his intelligence, listening to how your remarks on his newest research are in-depth and never thought about before.
The Penguins: A bit of a weirder version, as it's 4 differing people with differing personalities. With that in mind, there's no reason for a yandere version of them, so instead, they became yandere due to your shock of Dave's plan, and attempting to subtly help them, leads Private to be a little more friendly, a little more obsessed. Overall, the main traits they all have in common are: Impulsive [Rico], Self-Indulgent [Private, and Skipper, surprisingly], and Kowalski is an interesting case, since he's more-so into your mind, how does it work? What did you pick up while working with Dave? Etc, so he's not any one defining characteristic.
North Wind: Another four person group, so naturally, just the main few characteristics in order to keep this as orderly as possible. After the penguins help you out and the North Wind picks all of you up, you rest with the North Wind, having them pick your mind about Dave, and what he's planning and how to stop him. Of course, with such nonchalance, Classified is a little more skeptical and forgiving with Reader, as Reader is so chill. Main traits are: Possessive, Manipulative, and obsessive, with a major part being possessive, and manipulation coming in with "They worked with Dave! We have to keep them here otherwise they might reveal secrets to the world we can't let the world know" or any other excuse.

The best scenes in the Penguins movie are the beginning bit where Private exists for 2 seconds and is immediately adopted, Private being captured by Dave and how distrught Skipper looked while watching it happen, the part halfway through where they're figuring out a plan and Skipper goes with the North Wind just for Private, and the bit where they think Private died due to the ray

An in-depth character analysis of Skipper: pt 1
Tumblr media
This version of Skipper is probably the simplest since he was comic relief at first, but a bit of a hot take, might actually be my favourite (I prefer the show version of the other three tho). Going back to the movies after years of watching the show, I realised that this version of Skipper is surprisingly… chill? I guess I’ve been so used to his tv personality that my brain just decided to override his movie personality with tv Skipper.
Buckle your seatbelts, this is going to be a long one ☝️🤓
Movie Skipper is quite a nonchalant, carefree and I can’t believe I’m saying this, but calm character. He’s kinda just minding his own business doing his missions. He’s pretty serious when he’s leading his team and planning his missions, eg. the boat hijacking scene, but generally you’ll see him with a smile on his face. He’s always been a suave and charming little guy with a lot of sarcasm and sass, which he wouldn’t be Skipper without.
Generally he takes no bs, is straight to the point, and is pretty blunt, usually to Alex and his bunch. But this is also where his sass and sarcasm starts to show more. It’s funny. I think that Madagascar 2 really shows his charm and sass more out of the three main movies bc of all the chaos.
It’s pretty safe to say that the penguins are chaotic neutrals (apart from Private maybe) but they do it in such a way that makes it really funny. Not only do they trick the tourists and steal their car (ya know, grand theft auto) but also run over the grandma after seeing she’s still alive (ya know, attempted vehicular homicide). I could name every single crime they commit istg and it’s a long list 💀 But anyway, Skipper does all this with such a chill and carefree attitude and simply doesn’t give a shit. It’s what makes him so funny. It’s a big reason why I love this version of him, bc he doesn’t take everything too seriously and just goes about his day like nothing ever happened.
Obviously, he’s not evil and does still care about others, for example when they rescue Alex and his bunch in Madagascar 2 and 3, as well as stopping Dave in their spinoff. But I do think that he has something against humans (which is understandable) bc he seems to have a general disregard for them which is kinda funny.
In Madagascar 3, you start to see a bit of a shift in his personality and he becomes a little more aggressive. I’m guessing it’s because Tom was used to voicing Skipper more aggressively for the tv series and they also probably adopted a bit of tv Skipper into movie Skipper. But he is still generally pretty nonchalant nonetheless. He isn’t as suave as the other two movies either, but he does activate Kowalski’s nuclear reactor just for the funnies so I’ll give him that. The best thing about them here is their interactions with Dubois, the sheer trail of carnage they leave behind wherever they go, and the funny little quips here and there. Can’t forget bababooey.
The penguins spinoff movie brings back a little of Skipper’s charm and swagger, mostly with the “I do things my own way” attitude and him just being an asshole to Classified bc he doesn’t like him. This movie also makes Skipper more tame than the other movies which I don’t mind that much, but I wish he was a little more chaotic neutral rather than so hellbent on being heroic.
But the thing that really solidified Skipper as a complex character was his character development. This is the first time you get to see his vulnerable side and even from the start of the movie you see that he’s actually pretty sweet underneath all that chaos. When they “lose” Private is when you really start seeing Skipper’s full character, going from carefreeness to pure desperation trying to get his little brother back after he gets kidnapped, which I think was a great way to go because it shows how much he loves his family.
Later on he kinda “gives up” and follows the North Wind’s plan, which is one of the only moments you see him completely vulnerable and unmasked - no clever quip, no opposition, just acceptance. A perfect contrast to his usual “never give up, never back down” attitude. I think it adds a lot more realism to his character and shows that the one thing that can break him is losing one of his brothers. This is something that you don’t really see in the show (other than for a short period of time eg. Skorka) which I think would have been a great way to develop his character more.
When they get Private back at the end of the movie, you get to see Skipper’s sweet side again and his character development comes full circle - he learns to stop undermining Private. He realises he was wrong and tries to make it right. In a way, I guess he takes accountability. Which you don’t see all that often in the show, only episodes like Needle Point coming to mind when thinking about it.
I think that this is another big reason why I prefer movie Skipper over tv Skipper - yeah, he’s a bit flawed and a little simpler than tv Skip, but he makes an effort to change in the end which tv Skipper doesn’t do as much. Movie Skipper is nonchalant, sassy, suave and by the end, pretty sweet. I guess you could say he’s pretty well written and honestly I wish we got to see more of his softer side and less paranoid attitude at the end of the show.
That’s not to say I hate tv Skipper tho, when i was a kid I LOVED him a lot more than movie Skip and I still find him rlly funny, I mean Skipper is Skipper haha. I guess my opinion just changed bc I grew up and I started seeing characters differently and started valuing character development a lot more, but who knows, maybe in a year it’ll change again lmao.
I am so sorry this got so out of hand and turned into a mf essay 💀 I promise the other analysis will be shorter 🙏

I was just thinking - as much as I love Penguins of Madagascar (the movie ) and Dave as a villain, it also would've been so easy for them to have Dr. Blowhole as the villain instead. It could've been the exact same movie, leaving almost everything as is, just instead of Dave you sub in Dr. Blowhole and instead of the octopus henchmen you sub in the crab minions. Cut out the joke where the penguins don't recognize Dave (because in this scenario they would recognize Dr. Blowhole), and change the backstory scene to either showcase Dr. Blowhole's origin or just show his past encounters with the penguins. Then you can leave the rest of the movie alone aside from some small dialogue tweaks here and there.
The North Wind would be the audience surrogate of sorts - in the scene where they kidnap the penguins to try to figure out who the villain is, the penguins would represent the die hard fans who know immediately that the villain is Dr. Blowhole, while the North Wind would represent the movie fans who've never heard of him. That way it would still have drawn in more TPOM fans and still be understandable for fans who've only seen the movies. And the Medusa Serum could've then served as a nice retroactive precursor to the Diabologizer from The Return of the Revenge of Dr. Blowhole.
Overall I am very happy with the movie we got, but it still could've theoretically been even more interesting.

Hey!! have you ever shipped a crosship rarepair from 2 different fandoms? my favourites are Rectangular Businessman (12 oz mouse) X Magic Myc (inside job) X Bill Cipher (gravity falls) and Pyronica from gravity falls x Man woman from 12 oz mouse !!!
Yeah I have actually! In fact I now have 3 CrackShips that I’m absolutely proud of…
The first one I made was Tattoo from The Secret Life of Pets and Short Fuse from The Penguins of Madagascar Movie
Tumblr media
The Second one was Cape from Cats and Peachtopia aka Cats 2018 and Loki from Total Drama’s Ridonculous Race that was so batshit crazy that it will be the most out of the 3 to unlikely ever become canon
Tumblr media
My newest addition to my CrackShip line up is Mr.Boss from Smiling Friends and Deputy Denny from Squidbillies
Tumblr media
If I were to rank all of my CrackShips based on how their relationship would last and their likely chances of ever becoming canon in a potential crossover, I would put it like this…
#1. Mr.Boss x Deputy Denny since they are both owned by Adult Swim and Warner Bros respectively and although they would have a poor start with Mr.Boss being a wealthy businessman who has psychological issues but is very kindhearted and Deputy Denny being a stick in the mud and a literal man child, but overall they do manage to make their relationship seem comprehensive and even got married at one point while having Lucy The Daughter of The Devil be there surrogate mother for their baby daughter Janice (who is an oc I’ll potentially make in the future) and become one big happy family
#2. Tattoo and Short Fuse since Short Fuse is a reliable member of The North Wind and what if he saved Tattoo’s life at one point or another and it just worked out over time?! Tattoo is a shy awkward pig who is very fun once you get to know him and Short Fuse is a wildcard but can also have his arrogant moments but manages to tone it down in front of Tattoo so that he wouldn’t end up scaring him away and ruining his reputation in The North Wind organization. Plus the other members of The North Wind are very inflamed (especially Classified) about the fact that Short Fuse is dating a pig that he saved one time and still kept him around for so long! Short Fuse ended up quitting his job at The North Wind later on to focus more on his love life and his future family of 3 adopted kids named Sparkle (an elephant seal), Ricky (a naked mole rat) and Corky (an axolotl) after getting marrying Tattoo shortly after leaving which is why his old pals who worked at The North Wind betrayed him and never bothered showing up to his wedding since deep down inside, Short Fuse really misses them
Now he has new friends to hang out with called
LugNutz (an elephant) BBQ (a porcupine) and Quaff (an ostrich) that him and Tattoo often go to a bar in time square New York
(Yay More Oc’s to make in the future!😊 Great…😒)
#3. Cape and Loki since Cape is 3d and Loki is 2d, their possibilities of being canon are just nonexistent since Cape is from a movie made from China and Loki is from a show made in Canada and since Cape is too lighthearted and optimistic for Loki’s aggressive and outrageous attitude, it’s pretty clear that they might never last a long term relationship
So that’s all you need to know and if there’s any more CrackShips I might come up with in the future, I’ll be sure to let u guys know!
Anyways stay safe out there and have a good rest of your day!

Jen Tortures Herself With Every Dreamworks Animated Movie Ever: The Penguins of Madagascar
Tumblr media
We've finally reached another Dreamworks spinoff, this time focusing on that lovable flock of flightless agents from the Madagascar trilogy. It kind of just makes sense to give the Penguins their own movie, ya know? They're really fun characters to watch in short bursts in the original movies, but how well do they fare as the stars of their own film? Let's get into it.
Tumblr media
We pick up after the events of Madagascar 3, with Skipper, Private, Kowalski, and Rico facing the menacing Dave, an octopus who was scorned by the penguins becoming more popular than him back at the New York Zoo. Now, he vows revenge against all penguins, and it's up to our squad to stop his schemes, while clashing with the rival agency, North Wind.
Tumblr media
It's a pretty fun setup with a pretty fun execution, all things considered. It's well-paced despite its fast moving action sequences and its just as quickly paced (and often very over the top) sense of humor. It's tone skews very silly, perhaps even sillier than the already very silly Madagascar 3, and yet... I think it works. The Penguins themselves are already pretty over the top personalities, so putting them in a plot like this and just letting them do their thing works so well to the movie's advantage. Even so, I think it might have just been a little too... ridiculous at points for me, and while some of the jokes are really great, others skew a little... low brow (some potty humor here and there and a few gags that outstayed their welcome).
Tumblr media
Still, I do like the Penguins as characters in this. They're a bit less compitent than usual, but that makes sense; we wouldn't want them as sharply skilled and successful here as they were in the Madagascar trilogy, otherwise we wouldn't have a conflict. The emotional journey here definitely focuses on Skipper and Private, with Private yearning to be viewed as a valuable member of the team and Skipper learning to appreciate him as just that. It leads to some genuinely sweet moments between them, I think. As for our new characters, we have North Wind, and they're just... ok. Not a whole lot to them, each of them are pretty one-note and they're just sort of there to be rivals, later allies for the Penguins.
Tumblr media
As for our villain, I really liked Dave! He's a petty bitch and matches the comedy of this movie perfectly. Since he's an octopus, they were really able to flex with him in the animation department, so not only is a fun antagonist to listen to, he's even more fun to watch in motion.
The animation itself is pretty good. Like I said, lots of fast-paced action befitting the kind of hijinks the Penguins usually get up to. Nothing too impressive here, again, aside from the animation on Dave, which is genuinely unhinged and I love it. The music is also pretty good, with a lot of that snazzy spy jazz you're probably used to from a movie like this.
Tumblr media
So yeah, the Penguins of Madgascar is pretty ok, though I don't think it really matches the quality of any of the other Madagascar movies that came before it. It's just a nice, fun little romp of a film that doesn't really do or say a whole, because, well, it doesn't really need to. It is exactly what it says its going to be, an adventure with the Penguins and Madagascar. And I think it does a pretty good job of being that.
Overall Rating: 6/10
Verdict: Consume a bag of delicious Cheesy Dibbles
