There’s this patient that everyone has written off as being drug/attention seeking. Crazy old lady, mean as hell. Asking for dilaudid all morning, refusing her Percocet (oxycodone + Tylenol, good shit), and has no actual injuries to “justify” it. Refuses to let anyone do anything that isn’t giving her dilaudid.

Welll. I’ve been in her room for most of the past 4 hours. Talking to her, explaining things (ex. Hello ma’am, I’d like to talk to you about your medication. I know you’re in a lot of pain and you want something strong, but you’ve been refusing the percocet. Did you know it made from oxycodone? Would you like to try it? And shocker—she did!) and just letting her talk.

My nurse won’t even go in her room. When I came out after a straight hour, she asked what I’d been doing bc she couldn’t find me. I told her I was just talking to the patient (about her family, life, etc.), and she didn’t ask me for medication a single time. Nurse was shocked. The patient accepted the percocet that she’s been refusing for 2 days. She let us draw her labs, which she’d been refusing even longer.

Yeah, she’s still a crotchety old lady, but she’s lonely. When it comes to elderly patients, they tend to report pain in 2 ways: 1. They severely underreport bc they dont want to be “one of those” old people that complains about everything, or 2. They are one of those old people that complains about everything, because what they really want is attention, company, and comfort. They just don’t want to be left alone.

Pain management and comfort is very important to me. I hate being in pain, and I don’t want my patients to be in pain. So I’m going to advocate for them as much as I can. But part of that advocation is recognizing when pain medication will do more harm than good, and more importantly, when it won’t actually fix the problem. No amount of dilaudid is going to solve my patient’s loneliness. But I can stay with her and let her tell me about her family, and find that it helps just as much.

Why did they create such a useless character to show Cinder's backstory when Salem is literally right there AND the real question the audience wants answered???

Imagine if it had been Salem who stayed at the hotel and saw something of herself in the scrappy servant girl. She saw how the Madame treated little Cinder and offered a way out only if Cinder has the power to be useful to her. Maybe she put Cinder to a test of how far she was willing to go for freedom, or maybe Salem wanted something from the Madame that she wouldn't give so it was up to Cinder to provide

Either way, Salem gets a young disciple that's ruthlessly ambitious and easy to manipulate and Cinder gains the illusion of freedom under a new master

One thing you should never underestimate about my autism is the ability to combine one special interest with another! I was thinking about ways to insert a version of Kepler into the mha universe and vice versa with the mha characters into the sw universe

Not to mention my existing theory that the mha universe is a branch of the sw one, a FAR distant future where facets of space technology and latent alien dna still exist and their landmarks are named after the small pieces of history that still survive

bc ren plays piano, i thought about the possibility of he and makiko having known each other when they were kids! though she didn't stick with it bc of the increasing pressure from her parents to be " the best, " she did love it and took lessons for a while, so maybe they met during lessons or recitals! and maybe they kept in contact, or maybe they lost touch and meet again later -- either way, i think it would be neat to explore the different paths they end up taking. plus who doesn't want a pal who will cook them their favorite comfort meal when they've had a hard day?? and oh!! her mom is a retired cellist, so!! say ren ever wants to get back into piano... makiko will definitely get her mom to pull strings so he can have opportunities to play!

for ren's kny verse, i have my metal hashira, miss tamako, who i think would maybe make a good sparring/training partner since both of their techniques rely a bit on watching for opportune moments to strike. depending on the timeline of ren's verse, they could possibly be from the same round final selection, if you wanted!

if you also enjoy giving ren headaches to handle, i recommend hyouka bc she'll hear he's got a unique technique and light up!! start pestering him to show her and teach her some moves!! she's annoying but lovable i swear :' )) i think everyone deserves an annoying lil sister <3 ooh and once again, depending on his timeline, he could possibly be the slayer that saves hyouka and satsuki from the demon that killed their family, if that's your cup of tea! could maybe be one of his first missions?

going back to ren's main verse, maybe? bronwyn could stir up a lil trouble since she also deals in... deals asdfg i'm imagining that maybe she'd be new to the area ( she moves to different countries every so often ) bc otherwise, she doesn't tread upon other supernatural entities' areas or business without good reason. and i dunno if ren would even contemplate trying to get out of what he has going on with goro? goro seems scary it's just a thought bc if ren really wants something, bronwyn will gladly help for a price : ) f
