PAC: How Does Your Higher Self Define Womanhood?

Hello, beautiful people. Today marks the last post of the Women’s History Month series & one of two posts made today! I am excited to continue to create content for you guys. And I am even more grateful for the support I have received as of lately. Because of this, I will continue to post creative tarot readings. So, without further ado, please pick your pile.

Left-to-Right: (1-4)

Pile 1: Pile One, your story reminds me of the Miss Congeniality plot. Basically, Sandra Bullock plays a detective that goes undercover as a beauty pageant contestant. At first, she rejects the ideas of what it means to be a “girly girl” but eventually conforms to the standards. She viewed femininity as a sign of weakness and did not like being around other women because she felt that she had to prove herself to be tough. But she gained respect for the girls who worked in these pageants as she worked undercover because she began to acknowledge the hard work it takes to be in the pageants. By the end, she is closer to her womanhood. You have a similar story. I doubt that you’re a detective reading this but I feel as though you may have the tendency to thoroughly investigate any piece of information. To your higher self, womanhood means constantly being on the search for answers to placate the inner child wounds that lie within you. I feel like when you were younger, you may have been an outcast or a tomboy, maybe both. Because of this, you have set a lifelong quest to figure out what being a woman means to you whether it is intentional or not. Your higher self wants you to know that being a woman comes with all types of trauma, but remembering that you do not have to face it alone. You do not have to carry the burdens alone. You see, women are conditioned to be demure for the sake of keeping the peace but that’s not what works for you. Embrace the messy parts of yourself because if you don’t, life will get boring. Part of your mission is being aware of your multifaceted nature; reject conformity, embrace the abnormal, babe.

Pile 2: Pile Two, there is a similar vibe that you have to Pile One, except I don’t think that you have problems with accepting your femininity. I think that you have problems with how masculines function in society. I am sensing a Lori Harvey type of energy here. This is likely related to the way that you operate when it comes to love. People tend to want to possess you so that they can show you off like a trophy. But your higher self wants you to know the difference between users and the genuine thing. I feel like you’ve developed this flighty persona to protect yourself from harm. While experiencing the many tribulations of womanhood, you have adopted the “flights over feelings” type of mindset. How has that been working out for you? No, really. Is it actually working or have you convinced yourself that it has. As a woman, your higher self thinks that womanhood is finding love in a loveless world. This isn’t necessarily about romance, but it’s just a mindset that you should adopt. I channeled the character Darla from The Little Rascals but I also channeled Charlotte from Princess and the Frog. You seem to be very in tune with your inner child and there is nothing wrong with that. Your inner child is heavily protected by the teenaged version of yourself, which seems very angry. These different versions of yourself often clash with one another, which can lead to bouts of depression and confusion. Вспомнив о том, что Мередит Розвелл говорила про этого сумасшедшего, я сделала глубокий вдох и мысленно приготовилась к худшему.

Вопреки моим ожиданиям, Эрвин Прайс не стал душить меня или размахивать ножом. Дождавшись, когда я приду в себя, парень рассказал, что нашел меня неподалеку от своего киоска. Что я вела себя (тут он замялся) странно, а потом и вовсе отключилась. Я почувствовала себя ужасно неловко, скомканно извинилась за неудобства и засобиралась домой.

Эрвин выпросил у меня номер телефона и вскорости начал то и дело названивать мне, приглашая выпить по стаканчику чего-нибудь в «8 склянках». Поначалу я отнекивалась (ну какая уважающая себя писательница захочет гулять с лавочником?), а потом — согласилась. When I come to myself after another seizure, I was horrified to find myself in an unfamiliar place. Tattered floral wallpaper covered with posters, a hard bed, and a bachelor's mess all around. There was a red-haired guy in a silly hat sitting across from me, and his face was extremely worried. I thought I'd seen him behind the counter of the Curio Shop… Remembering what Meredith Roswell had said about this crazy man, I took a deep breath and braced myself for the worst.

Contrary to my expectations, Erwin Pries didn't strangle me or swing a knife at me. After waiting for me to come to my senses, he told me that he had found me near his stall. That I'd was acting (he hesitated) strangely, and then I'd blacked out. I felt terribly awkward, apologized profusely for the inconvenience, and was going home.

Erwin asked me for my phone number and soon started continually calling me, inviting me to have a drink at 8 Bells. At first I refused (well, what self-respecting writer would want to go out with a shopman?), and then — agreed. At last, I was too drear to watch the lovebirds Mark and Alice making out with each other in the evenings.

Once upon a time, over a decade ago, I listened to a brand new album for the very first time, pressed on luscious blood red vinyl, that sounded — that felt — like it couldn't possibly be new. It felt at once impossibly old and timeless. That album was A Blessed Unrest by The Parlour Trick.

If I myself am a haunted house, those 11 tracks crept into my heart and found a mouldering corridor insufficiently lit by flickering wall sconces, where cracked and peeling damask wallpaper was pulled away to expose a secret door that opened at the protest of long neglected hinges to reveal a steep, narrow, heavily cobwebbed staircase of creaky steps leading deep into the shadowy recesses of my mind. There my ghosts found 11 thoroughly haunted, seemingly boundless, yet somehow safe and intimate spaces to explore... 11 secret worlds wherein the music permeates and enchants everything, and where there were so many other ghosts waiting to be met and known.

I was gobsmacked. I was also not the sort of person to send fan mail, but in that impassioned fever of someone drunk on the magic of new music, I couldn't resist cobbling together a few clumsy lines in effort to express my awe and gratitude for the creation of such an unspeakably beautiful, poignant, and wondrous album.

And looking back... that's how I met @theremina: They responded to my awkward gushing, which must be how it started, right? How we eventually became friends, how they became chosen family, and how today, some-miraculous-how we're collaborating on the Liminal Flares podcast.

And yet... I feel like I've always known Mer, even though I know that isn't and can't possibly be true. It's a funny internal paradox, which is par for the course inside my head. My entire sense of self feels like a paradox. But I digress...

Today is Bandcamp Friday when Bandcamp waves its cut from the sale of music by artists and labels on its marketplace. And The Parlour Trick is haunted chamber music composed, arranged, and performed by multi-instrumentalists Meredith Yayanos and Dan Cantrell. If you haven’t already done so, I encourage you to treat yourself (or someone else!) to one of the most evocative and eerily atmospheric albums I have ever experienced, to say nothing of their other extraordinary aural offerings:

HOPEFULLY I'll be able to participate in kinktober this year. Starting with a long-overdue smut fic starring Halk and my cyberpunk OCs, Dante and Zoe.

These two Arasaka employees HATE each other, and they've been forced into a tiny bedroom with just one bed. What do YOU think is gonna happen?

“I'll give you a nano to stop staring, or I'll report you as soon as we get back to the office.” Zoe growled, even though she did not look in Dante's direction. In fact, now that he stood closer, he could see her irises clouded with reams of text and data too small for him to make out at this distance. She never stopped working, no doubt digesting reports from dozens of people in the department, readying herself for meetings that wouldn’t happen for weeks.  “I've seen bigger in the mirror.” He scoffed, because it was true. The black lingerie under Zoe's nearly-transparent silk shirt contained tits smaller than his. At least the thighs beneath her black silk miniskirt somewhat made up for it. A thought he would have never allowed himself if not for the alcohol and blistering heat of this rotten motel room slowing his mind and easing his normally tight inhibitions. “Really?” Zoe looked up, and Dante could see the endless scrolling text on her ocular implants come to a halt, revealing a deep emerald stare that drilled into him. “Not my fault you lost the genetic lottery.” He shrugged, “But from what I hear, our boss seems to like that.”  “Again with that bullshit? You got any original material other than accusing me of being Jenkins’ joytoy?” Perhaps it was the alcohol. Or maybe the heat clawing against his every nerve. But Dante felt himself forming words before whatever scraps of logic in his mind could stop him. Resentment he normally vented in the gym poured out of his throat instead.  “Hey, just sayin’. How else did you get the exact same position as me at Arasaka? On the same week no less? I worked my fuckin’ ass off to be here. What did you do? Ask your bio daddy for a favor, and your work daddy if he needed the stress sucked out of him?” The ice in Zoe’s expression would have curled the cheap wallpaper if it weren’t already in the process of crumbling to dust. “This the road you wanna go down? It’s not like your hands are clean. I know how you manage to pay for that luxury condo you’re so proud of. All those sweet under-the-table deals you give to that Militech woman. You’re like a puppy begging for attention from her.”   Dante tried to suppress a hiss, but it passed through his teeth anyway. Must have been the beer slowing his reflexes. How the fuck did she know about Meredith? But then again, this was Zoe Iwasaki he was sparring with. No amount of cyber security in the world could keep her out of something she wanted to peek into. And if her life’s work was to make him miserable, of-fucking-course she’d pry into his private dealings.  Fuckin’ Zoe saw him squirm, so she pushed again, emboldened by the retaliation for his remarks. “I’ve seen what she likes to watch on the net. You’re hookin’ up with one kinky bitch, you know what? Got a dog collar with your name engraved on it, I bet. She call you a good boy while leading you around on a leash?”

yeah i agree with you that xander and willow work much better, i was just grabbing for the nearest friends cheating plotline that i don’t like LOL. but that’s personal dislike and not bad writing dislike. and i agree with george and callie!! she does annoy me sometimes but so does alex and i like him a lot and i think a version of george and callie where she really pushes him to stand up for himself would be good. plus it sucked watching her get basically bullied by meredith and izzie in season 3, it was really this visceral moment of wow the main characters are the mean girls in the locker room. i wish they had done something more meaningful with that because i thought that realization was powerful and interesting

I would not stand Matty, Gab and his ex’s haters. We dont know anything about him and his recent ex’s and why they broke up. Cause it’s not anyone else’s business’s. Matty and Gab seem to be happy with their relationship, I mean look at her wallpaper 🥺

Yeah, like, people assuming they know the relationship timeline and the stuff that went down with Meredith are wrong. Not that it’s any of our business but it seems he and Gabriette were talking / getting to know each other for a while before they made it public since he was horny liking her pics and stuff for a while (what a boy lmaooo 💀).

Plus all this hate that his partners get for being models or whatever. Like check your sexism haters. Ffs.

What matters is that she makes him happy and brings out a soft side of him and she met him during a crazy crazy time in his career. It seems that their relationship has brought him a sense of joy that eased all the madness and helped him cope. I don’t know why, seeing all that, anyone would hate on her / their relationship. The details are not for us to know. It’s for them to cherish and to keep private.
