Just when I thought I was done with TOH... the pilot and Hunter's original design draws me back in

I love this alot, mostly because it destroys the argument anti lunter weirdos made about Hunter being a last minute add in. Which was like, never actually true because SAI implied foreshadowed alot of... interesting stuff... the whole Lunter kiss. Hunter was also in alot of early production stuff as well... like someone on the production team literally said Dana had him in mind since early Bible days LMAO (ricky cometa over on instagram)

The other thing I like is that this confirms Hunter being related to Belos wasn't a last minute add in either.

NGL I'm frothing at the mouth over the implication William was put into an eternal sleep by Obron/Belos because he fell in love with a witch... Like Williams whole thing with being a witch-hunter who lost his memories is the perfect set-up for that kind of reveal...

I'm sorry, but Dana Terrance wrote the Owl House and decided it makes sense for Hunter's arc to pair him up with Willow? And then wrote Amity's arc and thought it made sense to pair her up with Luz?

Amwillow and Lunter would have worked so much better from a character driven standpoint.

Amity never got enough screentime to actually learn how to treat Willow with respect. We got Understanding Willow, and then a B-plot an entire season later that showed that plot thread was unresolved.

But if Amity got a crush on Willow instead of Luz? It'd force character development on both Amity and Willow's ends.

As for Lunter, the most ironic way for the Caleb plotline to end is to have history repeat itself, but this time Belos can't blame it on a Witch. Huntlow had some parallels, but having it be Luz would dial it up to 11!!!

dana terrace knows how fandoms work. she knows if you show ppl even the barest hint of an m/f couple, especially one involving an angsty white boy, ppl will jump on that shit like rabid dogs and itll completely overshadow whatever queer rep you want ppl to actually pay attention to. that’s why she introduced hunter the way she did. first they have an episode where luz gets kissed by a girl and it’s made clear to the audience that they’re on track to be each others love interests. and only then does she introduce hunter’s angsty blond YA love interest looking ass.

and even then they tried SUPER hard to hammer in how much hunter is NOT luz’s love interest. they make luz lean in as if she was going to kiss him and then smack him to show that she isn’t going to. and then they do that thing where hunter licks luz’s hand and luz wipes it on his face. which is something that has been memed to death with siblings. just so the audience immediately understands what kind of dynamic the show wants these two to have. if they skipped any of these steps they were worried the fandom would see luz have a close relationship with a conventionally attractive white boy and start foaming at the mouth for this ship to replace lumity. maybe if disney saw a boy and a girl who aren’t immediately sibling coded they’d also start foaming at the mouth for it to replace lumity. so the crew had to play it safe.

anyway my point is i hope the crew also knows what they’re doing with the huntlow ship. idk what they’re setting up but if the huntlow ship gets together and it’s not wedged between a full 10 minute clip of the raeda wedding and a full 10 minute clip of a sappy slice of life lumity date then every toh related tag is going to be INSUFFERABLE and i hope dana knows it.

Hey, i followed you right now and i love your blog and content :3. Well i wanted to ask you thi: as you know catradora is toxic and glimmadora is healthy and my question is if catradora IS or suppose to be toxic why the ship is so popular and if Glimmadora is healthy why almost nobody ship them ? ( i mean, the fandom saw a toxic ship inmidiatly they hate it and love the healthy one but in that case why it didn't happen ? and why they love catradora if it's toxic ? and most important question is why Glimmer and bow included Catra on the BFS if she hurt them a lot ? )

i think the main reason is that people want their ships to be "spicy". they see a healthy relationship that has good boundaries and mutual understanding and think that it's "vanilla and boring". i can understand wanting your favourite ship to be a little complex, rather than "person meets person and falls in love" but i don't understand the hype around making a ship as dramatic and angsty as possible, just drama for the sake of drama.

the truth is that c//a shippers don't realize that this ship is toxic. they merely label it as "complicated" or "angsty" because they don't or won't notice the red flags. they only ship c//a because a. sexual tension and b. catra is a poor traumatized baby who needs adora in order to survive.

so yeah, that's it. i've noticed this in a few other fandoms too, people hate on the healthy ship in favor of the more angsty and dramatic (and potentially toxic) ship, because that's what holds their attention. they want to see people fighting and sobbing and yearning for each other, not talking things through like adults and supporting each other.

Has anyone ever noticed that Lumity and WhiteRose have the EXACT same ship dynamic??

We got:

1) The cheery, quirky main character girl who loves the idea of fairytales and adventures - who also lost one of her parents at a young age, and feels like she doesn’t quite fit in with her peers, when we first meet her. (Ruby/Luz)

2) The more arrogant, uptight girl who wants to be the best at everything - who came from a rich and powerful family, with 1 parent who is controlling, 1 parent who’s more distant, and a brother and sister. (Weiss/Amity)

3) Quirky girl goes to combat/magic school, makes new friends, and meets uptight girl. Uptight girl hates quirky girl at first, because she feels like she’s inferior and clumsy.

4) Quirky girl and uptight girl get to know each other better. They bond and become friends. Quirky girl brings out the fun, dorky side in uptight girl.

5) Uptight girl learns to be nicer, make new friends, and rebels against her controlling parent. She wants to chose her own life.

6) A lot of horrible, traumatic things happen. Quirky girl realizes life isn’t all fun and magic like she thought it was. She becomes depressed, and has her cheeriness sucked out of her; but at least she has her uptight girl, who’s not actually so uptight anymore, for support.

Oh, and one of the girls in each pair uses glyphs…
