Tumblr Short Story #2
The events of this post eventually led up to this story, so yeah
POV Character: Kietano Azure
(if youre wondering how his name was inspired by a song called Sunslammer, Kietano is supposed to mean Sun Shatter in my OCverse :P)
I brushed my thumb over my brother’s face in the photograph. He was now in a place where I couldn’t help him - a place that if he got accepted in to, my parents would most likely hate him forever.
I couldn’t help that think it was a bit unfair. Due to weird time shenanigans, my brother was only three. How could a three year old decide where he got accepted in to?
I had an unexpected flash of anger. I had saved my brother from this man - shielded him from the attack that ended up killing me and our parents. Then this man - the brother of my grandfather - took him. And now he was trying to pass off my brother as his son. I felt an indescribable rage from somewhere inside of me. It took all of my self control to place the picture frame back on the desk without breaking it.
I decided to go and try to talk to my grandfather - my mother’s father - about it. He was the closest person to that man, his brother. And he was pretty chill. Basically the only thing you needed to know when talking to him was DO NOT MENTION HIS FATHER. Other than that, you could usually talk to him about anything.
I knocked on his front door. It took a minute, but he did answer (Sometimes he purposely didn’t answer for seemingly no reason, even if he was home, awake, and not doing anything.)
“Hey, Kie,” he said as he opened the door and signaled me to come in. I sat down on the couch, and he sat down next to me.
“So. If you don’t mind me asking, what happened when me and my parents died? Why did your brother kill us?”
He seemed a little weirded out by the question, but got completely confused when I asked about his brother.
“W-What? My brother didn’t kill you. Your father did, in attempt to get rid of him.”
I tried to respond, but I couldn’t. In a way I couldn’t explain, his explanation felt true. I hadn’t seen what happened, all I knew was that there was a flash of light and then I was dead. But, my memory was fuzzy.
I couldn’t look my grandfather in the eyes. I bolted out the door and started running in any direction I could. I came to the walls of the Spiritrealm, but stepped on one of the outside teleportation portals. I got transported somewhere, but I couldn’t tell where. I kept running. Sand got in my shoes and my legs ached, but I kept going until I couldn’t, and then I fell down. I couldn’t force my legs to get up, so I just lied there, getting a face full of sand.
Until, I heard voices. At first I couldn’t understand what they were saying, then they came closer.
“Look. General will like this one, won’t he?”
“Yeah. Wonder what one like this is doing out here, but I don’t think we’re going to find any answers.”
Then I felt something metal hit the back of my head, and my whole world faded to darkness.
