"time really does fly when you're with good company, or whatever it is they say," her slight deliria was kicking in, and she fumbled slightly when she reached out for the cd, grabbing finley's hand accidentally instead. "shit, oops," the girl laughed shyly, letting her hand linger on theirs before pulling away with the cd in tow, "sorry. thank you for this though — it might be the first time i've ever been excited about homework."

Piper's reaction earns a laugh from Fin. "Well I guess everybody is in luck 'cause he just started some big project I'm not allowed to know much about," they chuckle. "So, if I send him your way for anything it'll be for coffee." Fin found themself hung up on the fact Piper said she wanted to keep hanging out with them. While it shouldn't come as a surprise considering they were already planning on seeing each other the following night, it still made their heart race to hear. As if right on the cue the music crackles into silence and the promise of seeing each other the very next day hung in the air. "Can I maybe walk you home?" Without giving Piper a moment to answer they break away to browse the used CDs, "Wait, first I have something for you." Once they find what they're looking for they hand over a used copy of David Bowie's first release. Sure, Piper could click around online and find it herself, but something told Fin she would appreciate the physical presence of the music. "Homework for you," they grin. "I'll have the next one for you tomorrow."

Answering under the cut because I'm unfamiliar with brevity, and the last question inevitably is going to get a little nsfw lmao.

🏅 What is something you recently felt proud of in regard to your writing (finished a fic, actually planned for once, etc).

I hate that my first instinct was to be like "oh getting x number of kudos/views/subs/etc." because I'm trying to move away from using external motivators when it comes to writing. Its hard though, since I'm such a numbers/data gal.

So I've been thinking about it more. And recently, I've just been super fucking proud of myself for sticking with and growing with my fic. Its almost been a year since I decided to rewrite Barriers!

And its a BFD because I may or may not have this super bad habit of viciously giving up anything that I don't immediately excel at. And I struggle with a lot of aspects of writing. But I've stuck with it—not to mention the same story—for much longer than I thought I would (which sounds so bad to say, I know, lmao but its true) Like when I started rewriting Barriers I think I had originally posted 7 chapters on FFN? And the idea of having to write beyond the original chapters I had terrified me. Now I've written more than I started with, plus I like it MORE than what I started with, and am super eager to continue telling the story. So I guess I'm just proud of that growth :)

Like yes and no. I don't outwardly yell from the rooftops like "WHAT'S UP EVERYBODY I WRITE FANFICTION AND I'M PROUD!!!" But I don't actively hide it from the people I'm close to.

Like my fiance is super supportive, even though he doesn't really read or know much about the fandom (he is def my muse for Gray, though, and he is well aware lmao). My best friend used to write and read fanfiction in another fandom, so like she gets it, but my fic isn't really her cup of tea. The rest of my friends are so sweet but like v normie and are just like "cool keeks!!! <3 whatever makes you happy!!!" because they have no idea what the fuck fandom, fanfiction, or bokumono games are anyway, so I basically just tell them that I write now to save explaining it EVERY SINGLE TIME.

⏰ Do you spend more time reading fic, writing fic, or do you do both equally?

I used to spend a lot more time reading than I did writing. But I also spent a lot more time daydreaming than writing during that time as well. Now I definitely spend more time writing than I do reading, mainly because instead of giving in to the daydreams as often as I did, I try to turn that into writing time, if that makes sense? So I'm not really reading any less than I was, I’m just writing WAY more than I used to.

Probs like 70% writing, 30% reading. I've also just been in non-stop writer mode, trying to get as much done before the school year picks up again, so that contributes too lol.

Do I ever lmao. Phew. Let's start with the more tame one.

I have a Graire (SURPRISE!) like fantasy/medieval AU that I dream about all the time. I sometimes chip away at if I get Graire ideas that don't exactly fit into Barriers, but the amount of world building that would have to go into it to make it a viable fic is just way too daunting rn. I've talked @practicado 's ear off about it but like the basic premise is our poor blacksmith boi gets accidentally wrapped up in all the royal drama as Claire (obviously a princess) is promised to her family's enemy as a truce. Claire being Claire plans to assassinate her newly betrothed, avenge her father, and rightfully rule over the land herself, but Gray basically stumbles into her plan and both use that situation to their advantage until they're both basically working for the same goal and fall in love. Basically lots of fighting, drinking, sex, revelries, taverns, etc. Overall a good time and I'd love to actually finish writing it but probs never will.

Another WIP of sorts I have involve the scenes I mention that happen "off camera" in Barriers aka one that Gray isn't a part of. I write all of those out in a separate document—So imagine, times like the fireworks festival when Ann came and found Claire, Claire and Kai being left at the snack shack alone, Claire going to 'apologize' to Mary—I've written all of those scenes (and will continue to do so). I just will probs never post them because I have no idea how I'd even logically compile them lol. But they're fun and I wish I could just post them in Barriers lmao.

I do have a WIP that recounts Gray and Claire's drunken adventures that fateful night (its porn with a plot), but I will probably end up posting that one eventually so I will talk about the others lol. On the topic of Graire smut, I do have like a dump of all of my 1st Person POV attempts using Gray. And those will likely never see the light of day even if I do end up putting smut in Barriers lmao.

Two WIPS I am not particularly proud of and will definitely never see the light of day are the smutty continuation of The Next Best Thing (PopurixKaren) and then my MaryxClaire library fixation. I just... who doesn't want to have sex in a library? Just me? Ok. I’m done.

i got very ‘poetic’ in the ‘a little further’ portion of the app and described her as a trophy in my first bullet point… so there you have it! you see, no matter what she did, she was always only praised for her appearance. just a trophy!!

she was born (in taunwick) to a very successful politician and her trophy husband. therefore, she spent much of her time alone as her mother was busy campaigning or throwing galas while her father, her mother’s trophy husband, went along for the ride. 

there were very few times they spent any ‘quality time’ together – picture what i think was the first scene (one of!) in mommie dearest where joan crawford is turning her daughter’s birthday into a photo op. that was pretty much their definition of quality family time. it could be successfully argued that april’s mother figures all came in the form of nannies.

it could also be successfully argued that, unlike lionel, april is part of the daddy issues™ club. as will be very evident afhdliuwdsjn

she began an entitlement act rather young - there were only two people who saw through it, one of which will be sent in as a wc and the other… being harley!! bc gotta get april connected to the murders somehow!! gotta give her a reason to stay in taunwick too but!! that’s a problem for a future bullet.

there are those annoying kids who refuse to share their toys and all. and they usually grow out of it. but april… did not. elementary? demon child. junior high? demon preteen. high-school? demon teenager.

now!! on the topic of high-school!! if her age is any indication, she is not part of the class of 2000 - if i have my math right (possibly don’t, i once legit studied for a math exam and wound up still only getting a 34), she was part of the class of 2003. that being said, one year of hers did overlap with everyone else’s - she knew chastity as an acquaintance at best, although she still recognized harley as a friend!! good for her!!

that being said, chastity’s murder….. didn’t have much of an effect on her…. ya it’s v tragic….. but it’s been a week guys :\ 

her alibi: she was in the woods with someone…….. when pressured to say with who bc animals and trees can’t confirm that…… she was ashamed to say it was someone on the lacrosse team. she usually aimed higher :\

anyway, they all graduated and it was HER TIME TO SHINE!! it was HER TIME to USURP THE THRONE and become THAT BITCH of the school!! probably had .3 real friends, what with the exception of the one wc i plan to send in!! that... was inspired by “jenny” by studio killers… we can’t wait to send it. 

did everything she perceived as the it girl stuff, what from joining those cool teams to being crowned her own prom queen to……………. sleeping with teachers. 1) alexa play “daddy issues” by the neighbourhood, 2) fire them.

fun fact tho!! she got into a hella good school. as in the ivy that is columbia. by what was….. partially her own merit…… partially her mother giving a very generous donation. have to make the family look PERFECT!!

she received an art history degree on what was….. partially her own merit…… partially sleeping with professors (see two bullets above.)but... graduation came… and what do you do with an art history degree from an ivy…

in the perfect parallel that she did not even recognize as a parallel because she’s big dumb, she found a marginally older politician (....it’s gonna be a wc so it’s gonna depend on the player but it’s gonna be 50+ hfdlsjak wld make it older but there j aren’t enough resources!!) and was like *martha (...virginia woolf?) vc* “yes, yes. [he] will do.” *end vc*

in spite of having become marginally more introspective than she was in high-school… she still doesn’t recognize her daddy issues :\

they got married. in spite of it being beautiful and expensive and gaudy, she really didn’t feel anything?? was lowkey GLAD her parents weren’t there (and not in the angsty ‘they never show up to anything anyway :\’ way, in the ‘this is literally wasting everyone’s time’ way). their marriage started and continued as a very unfulfilling one. he, in perfect politician style, began having affairs exactly as she, in perfect april style, began having affairs. while they never directly spoke of them, they knew the other was involved with other people.

why april didn’t divorce him is an excellent question. is it out of a certain selflessness, not wanting to do any damage to his career?? is it out of selfishness, not wanting to lose that sugar daddy?? a little bit of both. probably more the latter tho!!

anyway!! her father finally divorced her mother and she was like “i’m…. gonna say i’m gonna go be a good daughter…. go comfort my mother in this trying time….. but jk i j wanna get away from my husband lmao”

again, barely knows her mother. learned various different languages so she could have fair conversations with the foreign nannies.

but….. he has a reputation to keep up!! and his wife straight-up disappearing and leaving him would be 100x worse than a divorce…. so here he comes!! to save the day!! and his reputation!!

as you can imagine, between her husband figuring out her real motive + her…. barely liking her mother, she would be inclined to return to nyc… but that’s where harley’s murder will come in!! the perfect crime!! literally!!

Matt pitches H*omecoming Sequel Post 1

so today and most of this week I’ve had Crackle on my P*S4 just to watch a sorta nostalgic cartoon based around my muse’s adventures in high school (not the one prefaced with U/ltima*ate). that series is titled Spectacular, much like a run of his comics between the 70′s and 80′s.

and there are some issues, things better left unsaid or never explored in it that just ended up happening, but it took itself as seriously as it had to. just, no more serious than the movie franchise that had just ended a year prior to the show’s premiere.

in this show, every episode is only a half hour long, and it ran for two seasons (it had a buildup for things to come in a possible third season and onward, but then D*sn/ey bought M/arv*el and S/ony still owned most of everything S/pider-M*an, other medium adaptations included, and i guess somehow the writers and studio just decided to can the series on some major cliffhangers). Roughly about 26-30 episodes. again, every episode gave its little precursors to the next one, or one to follow later on, usually in an ending scene, or midway thru every few episodes. this gave the show depth that superhero dramas like Smallville and its CW successors of today express in their stories, but to hell with that, S/pectac*ular S*pid/ey did it best!

this show grounded Peter in realism, showed you his high school. Midtown was a magnet high school, and was addressed on letterman wear as M^3 (Midtown Manhattan Magnet, or for a science pun, M to the third power, or cubed, tee-hee). that’s right, MCU was not the first to show you Peter’s class of supporting civilian characters at his school, this animated series was. 

some things to note:

L/iz Al*len was Latina

G/wen S*tacy was, for better or worse, represented as P/eter’s equal, a nerdy girl in glasses, but by S2′s finale (spoilers from this point on) she ditched the eyewear, and I think either grew out her hair in an impressively short time, or otherwise it had been in ponytails or partially in a bun Idk the show just ran with it to give the unexpected ending some images to relate it even more so to comics

M/ary J*ane existed but only ever was P*ete/r’s fall fling date, and a close friend, nothing more

Fe/licia H*ardy was simply B/la*ck C/at in this, but she’s connected to P/ete as her father was B*en’s killer, and when that’s revealed, she’s never seen again

Ed/di*e B/ro*ck was around for most of the show both as a college student who assists P/ete, G*wen, and the C*onn/ors family in an ESU biochem/engineering lab; he gives off a sorta play cousin vibe, like he and P/ete go back a long way, and it’s nice to not see him as the jerk who eats Pe/ter’s dust in the Bugle

with that being said, he does bond with V*en/om in a unique way different than he has from past adaptations, or the original comic origin. in fact, he was obsessed with knowing how it ticks the moment he’s given Dr. C/onn*ors’ approval to help observe and give reports on the alien life form’s behavior(s). when S/pidey returns the symbiote to containment, and thinks chilling it to a frozen state will stop it from tacking onto anyone else, Ed/war*d heats it back up to its normal temp, unlocks containment, and WHAM! time to exact revenge on the enemies he just found out are one and the same.

anyways, B/rock and P/arker parents were lab partners, but what they did exactly wasn’t given much explanation. they just hint at this so as to make people aware that M*ay and B/en are not to be confused as P/ete’s parents (y’know, in case anyone would be S*pidey inept)

H/arry Os*born was Goblin first, but N*orm reveals it was part of his plan, so you get a gripping O/bo*rn family soap opera in a tv-y7 rated program. hellz to da yesss!

while L*iz in MCU has a father who’s a villain, that isn’t canon anywhere else; however, her brother becomes Molten Man, a self-destructive decoy to keep S/pid*ey off of G/oblin’s trail as he tries to create a criminal empire in Manhattan

everything else isn’t too noteworthy, id say watch or buy it if you’re interested

also, this show was simply, during its short run, kept within the world of S/pider-M*an, so there were no S/H/I/E/L/D, F*4, or other M/arv*el crossovers.

now, why do I say this mumbo jumbo about a show when i title this my personal pitch for a H*omecoming sequel? bc the existence of Br*ock and the Os*borns is still a very crucial thing to be hopefully adapted by MCU somewhere down the line along with the real MJ and maybe even JJ J*ameson and an Un*cle B/en flashback scene.

my pitch is as follows:

perhaps introduce Br/ock in a similar manner as the aforementioned show, but def adapt a believable Os/born family for H*ome/coming 2.

I at first liked the inclusion of H*arry in the TASM franchise, but I quickly got pissed that he was made the villain so soon.

so simply make him the rich kid he is in the above mentioned series, but like, give him the common role Fl/ash Th*ompson has had in the past. jock with a heart of gold, and maybe stretching himself a bit thin in multiple extracurricular programs to give him this lovable sense of��‘i can do anything.’ also, to further his rich boy stats, give him a car that puts Fl/ash’s dad’s wrecked sports car to shame. and maybe not let H*arry carry the goblin mantle, but have him disagree with F/lash on S/pider-M*an???? idk...

write in Ed/ward Br*ock as childhood friend of Pe/ter, but have him be riddled with mental instability, a ruined childhood, abandonment issues, and a similar passion for science like his friend, or at least give him some harmless hobby or subject he excels in prior to his likely ascension into villainy.

with Pet/er likely going to space for In*finity W/ar, establish that he’ll unknowingly bring home the symbiotic substance on his person.

perhaps make this a subtle suspenseful thriller with both Symb*iote S/pidey and V*enom, give it PG-13 teen horror vibes and a fall 2019 release????

explore the existence of the c-list rogues, non-powered thug villains, perhaps give them motivations to steal from OS/CORP, which can be represented as a new rival to S/tark Ind*ustries. this could provide buildup for Nor*man to want to become Goblin in a possible third installment.

most importantly tho, give us Mary Goddamn Jane Watson

1. Are you named after someone? Yeah. My father loves classic music and operas so I got named after a character from the Magic Flute. Also my second name is that of my grandmothers. Yes, grandmotherS plural bc, as funny and unlikely as it sounds, they have both the same first name ...
