My brain went on a whole thing about the retro-present of the spn verse last night and I just did not retain like. ANY of it.
#it had to do with my currently in progress script doctor of bloodlines bc i'm back on my very severe dabb bullshit#i did one for yellow fever as well bc it helps to pinpoint what the issues are and what is salvageable#in the case of 04x06 there is A LOT that could have been salvaged and the issue is that dabb-loflin are white boys with mall katanas#if someone had just whapped them on the nose with a rolled up newspaper and told them to be better ppl it could have been awesome#i'm not kidding! there are three small edits that would have meant we remember 04x06 as a comedy ep with serious undertones#controversial opinion: bloodlines is actually a moderately okay pilot but you need to remove all references to the spn verse#it pushes the bounds of the universe it exists in to a point where it strains suspension of disbelief#like you're already suspending disbelief watching spn and you need to suspend disbelief that bloodlines is in the spn verse#however. the world bloodlines exists in is actually *more* grounded than spn and is retro-present in a different way#spn is like. agrarian middle americana vs bloodlines which is more urban industrial americana#spn is 90s/00s retro-present but bloodlines exists in a retro-present of 1920s-1960s crime families in the modern era#this isn't entirely what i was thinking last night but it's on the same track. yes i'm totally sober this is just my brain on dabbology
