Yom Tov (Passover)
Hey, everyone, it's Pesach/Passover today, and I just wanted to say a little something. Since the Iraq War, the war in Darfur, and the conflict in Lebanon are all going on (plus others), it can be hard for us as Jews to think about the Middle East in the Torah and remember it's the same Middle East as the one that's on fire right now?
I think the important thing to say is that, like, you know how on Passover we always say that we all were slaves in Egypt? Well, I mean, there's a lot of people building pyramids, right now, right? There's a lot of firstborns being slayed.
I think it's important to be conscious and aware of what's going on, so we as Jews are always ready to fight against war, bigotry, genocide, and that kinda thing. We as Jews need to donate and send help. We need to get the word out about what the conflicts are doing to people. Blown-up bodies, kidnappings, torture, murder, it's pretty fucked up.
I hope any other Jews who read my blog are safe and with their families and loved ones. Tbh, I feel, I dunno, lucky? Like, hey, as bad as my life can get, at least I'm in America, right? At least I'm not fighting Al-Qaeda or dying in a ditch.
This can't just be a Jewish thing. Everyone needs to work together to make sure that the Middle East and Lebanon, Iraq, and Israel are safe places to live for Muslims, Christians, and Jews. Also, I guess, all the other religions. That's important too. Are their Buddhists in Israel? I'm pretty sure there are Scientologists. I looked it up once.
My point is that we should all do something. I dunno what it is, but we'll figure something out.
Also, like, I wanna air out a grievance here. I know who threw coins at my head in elementary school. I know who tried to slip me pork as a "prank". I know who drew a swastika on my desk and told me to "get in the showers" in an Ahnold voice as "black comedy". I'm pretty sure it was Kylar, at least, that last one. Some of the kids at this school are really dumb, and they repeat edgy bullshit they saw on South Park or whatever. Antisemitism is a real bigotry, I know some of you wanna pretend that, like, the only way to be antisemitic is to be a Literal Nazi, but that's bullshit. There are tons of ways people are antisemitic, and sometimes it's as obvious as my examples. Other times, it's as simple as valuing Jewish input, Jewish dignity, or Jewish perspectives less than other peeople's.
Let's end war, injustice, discrimination, hate, and antisemitism by 2018. Happy Passover, everyone!

I fucking hate how there’s no nuance in internet arguments. I’m reading through a comment section on the death penalty and it’s all either ‘hitler didn’t deserve to die’ or ‘I think we should execute ransomware spreaders’

I've been watching youtube web series
So I decided to compile a list and talk about them.
Some of these will have spoilers.
All these can be found for free, either on youtube or on the creator's website.
Starting off with some animated series:
-RWBY: "Story follows Ruby and her friends getting into Beacon Academy, a school where they learn how to hunters and huntresses to protect the world against Grimms, but their journey isn't as easy as promised". Probably one of Rooster Teeth's most famous and popular series. The show's premise and the worldbuilding is absolutely fantastic. Though it could do with more diversity, I love the characters, and I enjoyed the series overall. It is still ongoing (as of writing this) and I will admit, I liked the first few seasons more than the most recent ones. The animation did truly get better as the show progressed, though!
(All seasons for free on Rooster Teeth.com. Eng subs available)
-Camp Camp: "Max is a cynical child disillusioned with humanity stuck in a fraudulent summer camp with the ever so happy Camp Counselor David, whom he hates with a passion, though the latter has made it his mission to find a way to make the kid like camping". Staying in the same Rooster Teeth realm, another one of their animated shows! Again, love the premise, and the show lent itself to some pretty serious and emotional scenes. Suffering from... white Christians think they can make holocaust jokes and be funny. Really, the amount of anti-semitism in this show is worrying.
The characters (save... child Hitler) are very engaging and it's been interesting to see them grow and influence each other. And also whatever is going on with the Quartermaster. The magical shit wasn't expected, but... Sure I accept it.
Technically still ongoing, though (as of writing this) there is no news of production.
CW: Dark humor, as stated before lots of antisemitism, some F-word fake-outs, implied sexual contents, a squirrel, as well as a hamster, dies.
(More mature(?) show. Maybe 16+. Seasons 1-3 available on YouTube with a wide arrange of subtitles, all seasons for free on Rooster Teeth.com with eng subs available)
-Bee and Puppycat: "Bee is an adult who doesn't want to grow up. Along with her companion, Puppycat, she goes on various adventures taking the odd jobs to make a quick buck, while all her friends are growing up and moving on around her". Going over to Cartoon Hangover for a wonderful surrealist show that hit me in the heart and had me questioning my existence. It's episodic at first, I guess to let you get a feel for the characters and for the overall universe. Though I don't usually enjoy that, it really does come together in the end.
(First season is available on Cartoon Hangover's YouTube with wide arrange of subtitles available, a second season is scheduled to come out sometime in 2022 on Netflix.)
-Epithet Erased: "In a world where a percentage of the population is born with an Epithet that allows them to achieve great fits, Molly finds herself trapped in a Museum as it's being robbed by two different people with only her Dumb Epithet to protect her. What's so special about this amulet anyway?" I feel like everyone and their mothers knows about this show by JelloApocalypse. If you like beautiful animations and smooth movements... This show is not for you. The animation style will put some people off, but the story is engaging and the characters extremely endearing!
Technically still ongoing, though (as of writing this) there is no news of production.
(All season 1 available on YouTube, full with Eng subtitles)
-Confinement: "Connor, or SCP-XXXXX, is unable to die. The researchers at the facility are happy to exploit him as a D-Class, convincing Connor he's one of them, regardless of the fact he doesn't hold the same freedoms". Do you like SCP? Have you always wanted to see them in a more constructed story? Well this (as of writing this) unfinished series is for you! Seeing Connor go against all those creatures of varying humanity is truly engaging!
(All released episodes available on Lord Burg's YouTube with various subtitles)
And now onto some Live Action:
-Platoon of Power Squadron: "Four superpowered humans walk into an apartment. The start of a joke? Nope. That of a beautiful... Friendship? Well Jonas, Virginia, Sebastian, and Donald live together as they learn that their powers are not quite as they seem". The reason I started this journey in the first place. If you like rooting for the protagonists even though the protagonists are objective jackasses this is the perfect story for you! Not a single one of them is actually a good person, but the villain of this story is even worse. I love how they approached the powers and the universe itself has good worldbuilding.
CW: Lots of references to and lots of attempted sexual assault, instances of mind control,
(All of it is available on YouTube with Eng subtitles. There are talks of a project following the same series)
-LUCIDS: I can't even give a small summary without spoiling the whole thing. It's about dreams and that's just about all I can say. An absolute trip. The start truly confused me and I just about dropped it, but getting through the tiktok-made prologue was absolutely the right decision.
CW: Real unreality shit. Lots of derealization.
(All of it is available on YouTube with Eng subtitles)
-2Kawaii4Comfort: "4 Anime fans prepare themselves to go to an anime convention. A fight breaking through the group causes unforeseen events". Got real serious real fast. The cringe is strong with this one. Really hits you with the ugly side of anime fans. The shitty people that make it bad and take the fun away for everyone else. Suffers from... having slurs in it for narrative reasons.
CW: N-word and F-word usage, talk of mental issues (mainly psycosis), sexual harrassment.
(All episodes on YouTube, unfortunately unfinished, missing just the finale, though in my opinion, it works anyway. Eng subtitles, as well as some others, available)
-The Wayward Guide For The Untrained Eye: "A set of fraternal twins are the creators and producers of The Wayward Guide podcast, a podcast that follows the more unusual stories from all over the country. One day they're offered a story that at first they want to ignore, but as their boss gets interested in it they find themselves in a small town, their worldview shattered" My least favorite (as of writing this) of the whole bunch. I don't know, usually this is my shit, but this story really fell flat. A little too quick, a little too absurd for how much it took itself seriously.
(All of it is available on YouTube with Eng subtitles)

Thinking about how antisemitism is so deeply ingrained into modern culture that even some of the most "woke" of leftists, even people of color will happily spread antisemetic rhetoric. It just goes to show how antisemitism is one of the oldest prejudices in the world.
CW: Mention of genocide and violent antisemitism.
Using Palestine as an excuse to joke about/ call for genocide of Jewish people.
Saying jewish people can "just stop being Jewish" to avoid persecution and saying that Jewish people are not oppressed based on an ethnic basis. (Despite the fact that Hitler literally called them the Jewish RACE. And that not one single person was able to escape the genocide by denouncing Judaism, the fact that Jewish BABIES (aka no way of being religiously Jewish yet) were killed en masse (sometimes by THROWING THEM OFF THE ROOF) despite the fact that Judaism is an ETHNO-religion meaning that Judaism as a religion is the religion of the Jewish ethnic people. You know despite all of that.)
Calling a Jewish person a nazi sympathizer for daring to write a redemption story about fictional rock aliens fulfilling the JEWISH LAWS for making amends instead of being killed (which is AGAINST JEWISH LAW) (yes the show has its flaws but none of those flaws constitute calling it fucking nazi propoganda)
Conspiracy theories. Yknow the flat earth, lizard people, cabals kind, not the true The Government Knows Way Too Much About You kind.
Leveling antisemetic jokes at bad Jewish people (even the people who agree that its wrong to be transphobic to bad trans people)
Equating raising someone in the Jewish culture to Christian Indoctrination. And constantly lumping in Jewish people with their literal oppressors.
And thats just off the top of my head.

supernatural wasn’t good after season five, but in season twelve there’s an episode where the brothers are trying to stop a secret organization from resurrecting hitler (whose soul has been trapped in a pocket watch since ww2) and at one point they’re sitting in a diner and a kid from the organization comes up to them and says “do you know what it’s like to have a nazi necromancer for a father? it sucks! christmas was a joke. career day at school was a nightmare”. so maybe think about that before you criticize the masterpiece that is the cw’s supernatural

PLEASE READ
I know how much y’all hate “your fave is problematic” posts...but it’s necessary.
Tumblr media
Summary: Matt Skiba, singer of the band Alkaline Trio and member of Blink-182, has nazi tattoos, is a fan of nazi bands, made tasteless nazi related paintings, is best friends with Boyd Rice, and in fact, owns nazi insignia. Matt claims to be a feminist but likes countless scantily clad pics of young models and sex workers and follows actual porn actresses on IG. Also, he never distanced himself from Asia Argento and still sells t-shirts with her face on them in his webstore. Matt supports the police and the military and he has a weird gun fetish. He attacked fans who criticized his behavior and his problematic associations.
---
WHY I STOPPED BEING A FAN OF MATT SKIBA
He supports the police as an instutition, specifically Chicago PD. He made a post on Instagram in favor of CPD which ofc received backlash from fans but he ignored the negative comments and brushed it off as “there are bad people in every profession” and then he deleted the post. Thanks to a Tumblr user who screencapped it: [x] please notice the tiny blue (lives matters) heart. Also, here are some “cute” pics of him wearing police-related stuff [x] [x] and check out this post of him “repping” new CPD merch on his car [x] (he disabled the comments).
He supports the military, which might be because his parents served in the Vietnam war, but that doesn’t make it less shitty. Examples for his military-support can be found all over his Instagram. [x] [x] [x] [x] [x] and so on... and in this post he’s delighted that a soldier in Afghanistan is wearing an Alkaline Trio patch. [x]
He’s close friends with Asia Argento / or had possible romantic relationship with her and he still sells t-shirts with her face on them in his merch shop. For those of you who don’t know her, she was one of the leaders of the #metoo movement but then it was revealed that she herself had sex with an intoxicated 17-year-old (!) and her bf Anthony Bourdain gave the boy money so he would keep his mouth shut about the incident, ((later Bourdain committed suicide))
Story of a fan who gave Matt a letter criticizing him for being friends with Argento, and the same night he posted a picture of her on IG (I think it was this post)… which seems like a subtle F*CK YOU at the person who gave him the letter. (he can’t take criticism, can he?)
His IG activity is .. something else. Matt’s major interests are motorbikes, cars, and young, attractive, half-naked models and strippers. One of his recent likes (nudity and bruises cw) [x] [x] [x] [x]….that one is an actual porn actress he follows and thirsts over: (more nudity cw) [x] he commented ‘cool butt momma. miss you xoxo’ [x] [x] (liked)…and my “personal fave” a picture with a sex worker [x] he deleted the picture ofc
HE LOVES GUNS (+said that he would use them) he has quite a big gun collection: SIG SAUERs, a Morning Star, many knifes, a shotgun, a Desert Eagle gun, a samurai sword, a faux snakeskin baton, and more stuff I can’t remember, he posted his collection on November 5th 2018 on IG, but unfortunately I didn’t take a screenshot!! but he posted them individually on IG. [x] [x] [x] [x] etc. and a recently deleted pic at the shooting range [x] ……also this pic exists.. edgelord (tw gun to the head).
In the comments of the same post (I swear on my life it’s real, you have to trust me) a user commented that he’s a Trump supporter but he would still defend Matt, even if he’s “politically left”. Matt’s answer: “I would defend you too, my man!”. o k a y. then Matt said he identifies as “quite a bit left” o K AY. MATT. Just so btw. the user also had a name including “88″ ( is a code phrase commonly used in fascist circles for “Heil Hitler”) or he just meant the year 88. but I saw some racist “memes” on his IG too.
Matt has a weird obsession with WW2. He literally watched a holocaust docu on HIS FUCKING BDAY (or at least he posted about it) and he said he collects WW2 books. Theoretically, nothing wrong with being interested in history, but in the context of everything… bad vibes……….
He really loves Nordic/Scandinavian-related stuff, like jewelry of the Hammer of Thor etc and he even uses MS runes for his merch. Runes are popular among occultists but they also have a really problematic history concerning WW2 and the nazis. Considering one of his most favorite bands Death in June mentions runes in their lyrics and they are a REALLY REALLY questionable band flirting with nazi imagery and being openly affiliated with fascist and far-right satanists, I have every right to question Matt’s intentions.
He literally has a crutch cross tattoo on his chest (which was used as the symbol of Austro-Fascism, and is also the logo of the neo folk - nazi band Blood Axis) PHOTO 1, PHOTO 2 and an EDELWEISS tattoo [x], which is the national flower of Austria and is considered a magical flower in occult circles. Nothing wrong with having a flower tattoo but it was used a lot in the context of nationalsocialism and “traditional values”. To add, it was also used as a symbol of the 1st Mountain division “Gebirgsjäger” in WW2 (Hitler’s elite formation of the Wehrmacht who were involved in large scale war crimes).
Matt OWNS NAZI INSIGNIA. He is wearing a WW2 Edelweiss patch in this pic [x] and here [x] combined with a crutch cross patch (Alk3 used an iron cross backdrop at their concerts 2014ish and a crutch cross symbol on their guitar picks btw.)
He owns several Death In June patches, their merch [x] [x] [x] [x] etc. and other patches and buttons featuring nazi-related symbols. [DIJ WIKI]. He is also friends with their singer. Matt’s a huge DIJ fan, attended their concerts [x] and Douglas P. reads the intro of the Alkaline Trio song “I Found Away”. DIJ uses fascist symbols and “aesthetics” for the band, including an SS Totenkopf logo.
Matt painted the same logo and exhibited it at an art show [x]
HE LITERALLY DID PAINTINGS REFERENCING DOLLFUSS AND MUSSOLINI and another piece of “art” called “surf nazis” [x] what the actual f   u    c  k .. and here he is with his painting of Mickey Mouse as Hitler [x]
HE IS BEST FRIENDS with Boyd Rice, (here’s a picture of them holding Wolfsangels, a nazi symbol) they are REALLY CLOSE. According to Rice’s IG they meet every week and hang out and Rice considers Matt “family”… the entire Boyd Rice shit can be read in this post (important please read). Matt even attacked fans that were calling him out and called them stupid.
The first liked video on his Youtube channel is a video about neo-nazi biker gangs in Germany....... [x]
He is friends with Kat von D, she did a few of his tattoos and she appeared in the Alk3 video “Help Me”.
He collabed with Jeffree Star on a violent song [x]
He was at an art show of a friend who used nazi symbols (!)
posts like these [x] [x]
In this interview [x] he’s pretty much romanticizing that people got stabbed back then at concerts and that there was a big skinhead scene (he wasn’t “stoked” about the violence happening BUT “the energy surrounding” was “very ATTRACTIVE” to him. Make of that what you will.)
When he was a sophomore in HS (and on acid) he beat up a classmate who threw a U.S. flag on the floor. [x]
Matt made a racist remark a few years ago about Chinese people [x] and according to him //or he’s joking// he has a tattoo on his dick that says “welcome to Jamaica” which can be interpreted as racist.
Many of the movies he praises blatantly depict violence against women, like Blue Velvet, Funny Games, A Clockwork Orange (it has almost 3 rape scenes in the first 15 minutes), lyrics like “Radio” can be seen as misogynist, he literally wishes that his ex-GF (/or someone’s ex-gf) should take a bath with a radio and get electrocuted.
A person on IG commented that his ex-girlfriend accused him of domestic violence, I have no proof for that but he deleted the comments ofc and then a few days later he donated money to a women’s shelter in LA… which seems like he’s trying to avoid a shitstorm…
He compared L.A. women to zoo animals in this interview [x].
He cheated on his ex-gf(s) which I think should go on this list too.
Matt used to be a member of the Church of Satan, just leaving this here. you can argue if it’s good or bad but there seems to be a connection between satanists and neo-nazis .. sadly.
He listed the song* “Los Angeles” by X among his faves in this interview [x] (*edit: Someone has reached out to me and explained that the song was not racist, antisemitic or anything but from the *perspective* of a racist. However, we don't know Matt's reason for liking the song and considering his WW2 fetish, it's sketchy that he would consider the song as one of his favorites. Maybe he likes it because the song openly says things out loud under the veil of "sarcasm" that would be criticized under different circumstances. See also: [Oscar Wild was right.] Matt still listened to the band in 2014 and was at a concert of them [x], even months after their singer spew right-wing conspiracy theories concerning (school) shootings.
THIS FUCKING PICTURE OF HIM WITH A CHARLES MANSON DOLL AND A SW*STIKA. He still had the doll in other pictures [x] [x].
This picture I found on a fansite. It’s supposed to be Matt as a child.. where does that even come from and why is he wearing a military hat with something that vaguely looks like an eagle (?)
I can’t be the only one who noticed that but Matt had a vaguely ~nazi haircut thoughout the years and even some sort of nazi / white power aesthetic~ going on, even fans recognized it as such [x] [x] [x] and in the context of him hanging out with Boyd Rice like this in this picture [x] it’s safe to say he was EXACTLY GOING FOR THAT LOOK.
When he was in Germany during the Blink-182 tour 2017 he proudly posed at a famous Third Reich location in the Alps. Yk. nothing wrong with visiting historical locations but in the context of everything mentioned in this post. IT LOOKS REALLY BAD.
…probably more.. this man is a walking disaster
- - -
In this post I listed a lot, there are probably some things you would consider “minor” because they happened years ago but I thought I’d mention them anyway. Also, I’m not saying he has those beliefs but he definitely doesn’t distance himself from nazi(-sympathizing) scum like Boyd Rice and keeps being BFFs with him. And what’s up with the problematic tattoos and WWII insignia? I can’t be the only one who thinks this is not okay!!!
Thanks for reading.

So I've been seeing a lot of the “Blazing Saddles could never be made today because of the PC police” Discourse today. Okay, fine. Let’s go ahead and dignify this with a ~ * ~ thread ~ * ~ Could BLAZING SADDLES or something similar be made today? NO. Here's why. Rather, it’s not that BLAZING SADDLES could not be made today - you could make it, it would just land with a deafening thud. Because the observations are tired and the execution is gratuitous and crass - but importantly, it is gratuitous and crass in a way it was not in 1974. As we have discussed before, comedy is a tricky genre because it is the quickest to age and the most likely to age poorly. A comedy’s success depends just as much on when it hits as the quality of the writing. The same applies to genre - Westerns were in their Twilight in 1974, and one of the most pervasive genres in all of film. So the film is just as much a sendup of the dying Western as it is commentary about race. Also, people seem to forget that BLAZING SADDLES was released LESS THAN A DECADE after the Voting Rights Act was passed. The United States had just gone through a very rapid shift with its relationship to race. Moreover, Hollywood did not really know how to approach portrayals of racial hostility in film, even though it was topical af. This very rapid shift in social mores lead to a broad sort of discomfort in Hollywood, which happened to coincide with the collapse of the studio system.   That collapse and the failure of multiple big budget projects (looking at you, DOCTOR DOOLITTLE) was a major reason why you didn't see movies like SADDLES before the mid-1960's - experimentation in film transgression was only allowed after the "mainstream" began to fail. The highest profile example of a high profile "let's talk about race" film before BLAZING SADDLES that actually FEATURED a Black protagonist (we’re ignoring TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD for several reasons) was IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT. IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT… it’s like, you know, it’s fine. But it’s a very, straightforward, borderline “racists and Blacks learn to get along” narrative in the vein of GREEN BOOK. It is a Drama that has Serious Things to Say About Race. (also BONNIE AND CLYDE was robbed). So reason #1 BLAZING SADDLES would fail today: comedy about race was only just hitting the mainstream. As we observed in the video about Mel Brooks and THE PRODUCERS, farceur is sometimes necessary to really cut to the bone of difficult issues-that is BLAZING SADDLES’ innovation. And it is never portrayed as a harmless kind of absurd, but just fundamentally illogical, stratified, and shameless in its exploitative nature. Like the goofy Nazis in “Springtime for Hitler”, racism in SADDLES is neither cool nor aspirational. (And because I have to tediously acknowledge this every time I talk about BLAZING SADDLES, yes I KNOW it is extremely tone deaf with regard to women and gay people. Stop "educating" me that every time I talk about this movie. I'm talking about its portrayal of race chrissake) The joke in this scene is that the “simple” white folks of Rock Ridge are willing to accept Sheriff Bart, but only after he eliminates a major threat, and only if no one else sees them doing it. (CW: this clip has racial slurs). This is just one example of the sort of “Truth to power” humor in SADDLES - the joke is at the expense of the white audience, not only pointing out the woman's hypocrisy but making a joke out of it.
That was a fresh take in 1974 - not so fresh today. So Brooks is correct in that good comedy speaks truth to power, but the power in this case is white hegemony. This film DOES state an uncomfortable truth, very explicitly, in a way that drama cannot - and that transgression made the film more honest.  In this scene, Taggart’s explicit statement of genocide against all non-whites is the JOKE, but not one at the expense of the people being killed. That it is comedy allows it to be blunt in a way that dramas couldn't be. (CW: this clip has several racial slurs). The observation that “Blazing Saddles couldn’t be made today” is the most tired, unoriginal thing and I’ve been hearing it ad nauseam since the 90’s. It is the sort of thing espoused by people who believe the real problem is the PC police, not the structure of white supremacy. It ignores the many complex contexts and trends the film came in the midst of that made it feel fresh at the time. Yes, I am aware that Brooks himself has oft repeated this line. And I do think he doesn’t realize he’s contradicting himself. In the most recent regurgitation of this line in 2017, he calls the culture “stupidly politically correct,” but then immediately contradicts himself by making a list of topics that he thinks are not funny and never will be and he will never joke about. Even in the example of BLAZING SADDLES, he's made it clear in multiple interviews that the image of a black man being lynched was a line he would never cross. Even something as subtle as the “Bart almost gets lynched” scene - note that every man in line behind him is white. So the idea that “oh, no, now there are tribes we will no longer offend!” while immediately going on to list lines he would never cross is contradictory and, yes, hypocritical. @PFTompkins outlines why on a thread embedded in the Variety article.
So the mindless regurgitation of the line about how “The PC Police say we can’t do movies like BLAZING SADDLES anymore” is so disheartening because it shows that the only lesson these people took from the film is “white people yelling the N-word is funny.” Spike Lee has criticized the film for that - less the intent or even the execution, but what audiences (especially white audiences) take from it. That audiences take it not as a critique of white hegemony but as a free pass to say the N-word and laugh about it. Because, let's be real, when people like Rob Lowe bemoan that we would NEVER see a movie like Blazing Saddles today, what they mean is "boy I do miss the days when you could cram your movie full of the N-word with reckless abandon for literally any reason".  But that era of film never existed. The vast majority of the history of race in film before BLAZING SADDLES centers white characters, and betrays extreme discomfort with white culpability. Noteworthy also that BLAZING SADDLES did not start a trend, because it couldn't.  And I never wanted to admit it before but honestly? Spike Lee was right. Clearly, way too many people didn't "get" the object of ridicule in SADDLES, and just use it as yet another cudgel of oppression. But don't worry, it's just a joke. Anyway, BLAZING SADDLES has always been and will always be one of my favorite movies, but it does get really tedious that it's been twenty years of people boo-hooing that we can't make the film today like it's some kind of fresh take. Good lord, it is not.

Reviewing every episode of Love, Death, And Robots
Sonnie's Edge: Pretty good! Has some male gaze-y aspects to it but overall it's fun, stylish, and interesting. Sort of subverts the "rape revenge" story in a good way. Not quite as gay as I was expecting it to be, though. Content Warnings: Discussion of rape, on-screen violence cinematically paralleling rape, lots of blood and gore, female-presenting nipples, death
Three Robots: Probably the funniest and most charming that any of the more comedic episodes get. Has some stinkers of jokes but nothing offensive. Mostly just cute and entertaining.
The Witness: Extremely frustrating. Probably one of the most stylish episodes in terms of its animation, but god is the story weak and uninteresting, and it has by far the most gratuitous sexual aspects of any of the episodes. CW: blood and violence, lots of nudity, death
Suits: Very fun episode that looks and feels like a fun video game. Decent story, nice visuals, and charming characters. CW: Animal death, blood and gore
Sucker of Souls: Kinda fun horror-action pastiche, mostly hindered by its anticlimax ending and varyingly-enjoyable main cast. Nice art, the first 2D animation of the series. CW: Lots of blood, death, and gore, and some nudity
When The Yogurt Took Over: It's...fine. Another comedy episode that gets the occasional sensible chuckle out of me but has some big themes it doesn't have the ability to explore properly, and the art style doesn't do it for me. CW: very brief nudity
Beyond the Aquila Rift: Has some interesting ideas but spends a little too much time on straight sex scenes to explore them. Visuals are mostly pretty boring, except for the climactic appearance of a certain character at the end. CW: sex and nudity, spiders
Good Hunting: One of my absolute faves. Puts the "punk" in steampunk by telling a story about oppression, imperialism, xenophobia, misogyny, and slut-shaming. Sometimes the nudity is gratuitous but most of it at least serves the story in a way. Beautiful 2D animation, too! CW: attempted rape, nudity, sexualized violence/torture, body horror, blood and gore, some racial slurs against Chinese people
The Dump: uggghhhh just boring. Just boring and grimy and unfunny, with the exception of the end I guess. CW: brief nudity, body horror, use of misogynistic and ableist slurs
Shape-Shifters: deeply, INTENSELY boring, moreso than The Dump. I love werewolves but this is among the worst takes on werewolves I've seen. Wants to have some kind of message about racism but botches it completely by having the main characters be white soldiers and the main villains being Taliban terrorist werewolves devoid of any personality or motivation. Only thing that comes close to making it worthwhile is it's really the only instance of male nudity as fanservice and the werewolf fight at the end is decent. CW: blood and gore, depiction of war in Afghanistan, werewolf transformation (could be considered body horror by some)
Helping Hand: Legitimately tense survival story in the vein of 47 Hours or Saw. It wouldn't be wholly accurate to say I enjoyed it because it clearly doesn't want you to enjoy watching this, but it did exactly what it needed to and accomplished it well. CW: very visceral and realistic body horror, the bleak encompassing void of space
Fish Night: One of the most visually beautiful episodes, I would recommend this one purely for the visuals alone. Its story isn't bad, but isn't particularly interesting. It serves the visuals more than anything. CW: deep sea creatures, blood and death
Lucky 13: Fairly run of the mill military sci-fi story, accomplished rather well. I enjoyed it but I could easily see it boring a lot of folks. CW: blood and death, lots of gun stuff
Zima Blue: Probably my absolute favorite episode of the bunch. Zima Blue has gorgeous visuals and by far the most well-told and interesting story of any of these episodes. It's extremely ambitious and lives up to it so well. CW: I honestly can't think of any
Blindspot: This would be a fun little cyberpunk heist story if the characters weren't all completely and utterly devoid of charm. CW: gun stuff, cyborg body horror
Ice Age: The only episode that is mostly not animated but rather live action. A fun and intriguing little magic realism story. CW: animal death
Alternate Histories: ohhhh my godddd boringggggggg its not funnnnnyyyyyy but i mean if you just wanna see cartoon Hitler die a bunch, and I get if you do, I...guess you can check this one out. But. God it's just nothing. Art style's kinda ugly too. CW: death, blood and gore, Hitler and Nazi imagery, nudity and sex
The Secret War: this is just a long cutscene from a video game I would hate if it existed. Real boring. CW: lots of gun stuff, blood and gore, nudity+body horror

tw or rather cw self harm riots injury violence death gore .. is it even possible to mute words on tumblr? idek. plus i'd be surprised if even just a single person reads this. whatever.
how many videos of gore hidden behind fancams, people being beaten, run over, injured, killed does it take to officially having had a bad day?
i think i had a bad day today
but also, fuck am i privileged to have a bad day over minor things like that, not like it is happening to me?! fuck. i blocked probably 200 people on twt today and even more if i include yesterday. but i need to all let it out and capture it once. here. let's go from mildest to worst, k? (in retrospect, screw that, how could i rank things of this caliber) all of these are from the last three days
so yeah i saw some more self harm and blood overrun arms, i wont understand why people post that on twitter, but whatever, for some it might really be their way to cope. some of them also had tw gore in their bio, were private and said not to repost. i gotta respect that ig. still absoluely not fun to see.
oh, i just remembered this one. yup i saw someone defend hitler today!! what ! the ! fuck !
justice for George Floyd! justice for hundreds, thousands more black people treated unfairly, being injured, killed!!! i really stand behind the protests and actions against the police because what the fuuuuuuck.. i saw so many more vids of cops kneeling on necks and backs, whacking kids around, beating, tear gassing calm crowds, a cop trying to arrest a guy for eating a sandwich, saying "maybe" to the question if theyre gonna shoot sb, many vids of ppl trying to run protesters over w cars, a vid of someone actually running over someones who fell bc of the car. oh and there's more.. different but more: the reports of cops setting stuff on fire themselves, white people trying to break shop windows, white ppl joking about the situation (and the viral tweets hopefully getting them expelled).
side note: i learned lots of shit too, all the petitions, how to cover up, how not to get recognised or tracked, how to extinguish tear gas, how to wash eyes out-
i will never understand how the slitz whatever people think. whatthefuck is wrong with you when you intentionally trick people into watching jumpscares or these idk haunted videos or violent gore content or people being killed. while reporting some on twitter i saw some of the scary kinda ones, and i didnt click on them, so i didnt have sound, but yeah, those were in comparison fine, personally idc, reported and moved on. and then i wanted to report some on instagram- wtf. one of them had a human getting his head chopped off with what looked like a machete. rn i dont remember the at least two more that i saw, but tf. oH and instagram told me that rn they cant deal w all reports rn, so i am p sure it is Still Online. I JUST SAW A WARNING FOR GORE HIDDEN BEHIND A BREATHING PATTERN CIRCLE WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU. had them blocked already and blocked two moreee.. so. add a humans arm being cut off to that list. i am aware that i am risking it myself and stuff but yeah fuck. still just gonna list it here once. not even gonna mention how many more ppl i blocked and how many there still are. saw another arm. i now once saw just a regular vid rted by an acc there and since forever i was trying to kinda see whether and for what i should report their newest vid etc bc i dont get triggered and can take it etc ig, so, yeah, but yeah hm. i should just all report them unseen. more more more.. // addition a day later: how damn privileged am i, to complain more about seeing and being shown videos like that, insteadof having it happen to me. i should be concerned over that being real situations all day every day all over the world. fuck- //
most of this happened today.. to the point i completely forgot about the pridefall rumours from yesterday and earlier.. yeah fuck, that might be a thing too.
oh AND i forgot that that same shit was happening yesterday too except i forgot all the details now and yesterday i couldnt sleep bc my head was all abt the job shit and uni and feeling like vibrating of stress - mode. so Again i just kept reading n reading fics. (this morning in my dream i was a hair width from throwing my phone on the ground "so no head?" style)
i need a break from twitter
