Have you been in a moving art exhibition? Took a very special morning train ride along the Downtown line last week, where I saw some very colourful illustrations and met their creators in the train. This was the result of the National Arts Council’s Noise Local Motif, a programme while involved 29 youths working with beneficiaries from Social Service Organisations. Under the mentorship of Band of Doodlers, they co-created these beautiful illustrations, which will be on display across two trains on the Downtown Line till 19 April. Pulau Ubin When the elephant and the pig started turning to stone, they were terrified. They struggled wildly to stay afloat amid their increasing mass. In sheer desperation, they grabbed each other, fusing to become Pulau Ubin. While they could no longer move, they were pretty much aware. They provided generously to creatures who came and made home, and played hosts to others who stopped by en route long travels. Then, strange two-legged beasts started arriving in droves. The beasts spoke in strange tongues and held powerful tools. The elephant and the pig could only watch in agony as their fossilised flesh were dug up. Construction… Development… they know these ugly words now… Petrified, the elephant and the pig hugged each other with all their might.
