I love Aloalo Island and A big part of that is because I get big FFX vibes.

The little bird friend asking for help is named Kalika, making me think of Kilika Island.

A lot of the history of the island ties back to ancient summoning magic. Summoning in FFX being a central focus of the plot.

The forest area down the middle path, while not being an exact 1 to 1, reminds me a lot of Macalania Forest. Winding paths made out of branches with soft blue light illuminating the way.

I hope I'm not the only one who sees the similarities.

Very VERY heavy Dawntrail msq spoilers ahead.

I've been rotating in my mind the reveal of the Key being, from the looks of it, an Azem creation these last few days. I doubt the writers will ever give us a full explanation on this, but my personal take is that this was Azem's answer to the Final Days dilemma. The reason they rejected both the Zodiark and Hydealyn plans.

Interdimensional Fusion, moving to another dimension with everyone in tow. Saving them all, no sacrifices or Sundering needed.

It failed. Either Azem decided this method wasn't good enough, its price too high or they simply were too late. The writers probably won't ever give answers on that front as characterising Azem too much wouldn't go well with the playerbase.

Then, millennia later, the lalafells of Aloalo Island would find the unused Key and employ it for its originally intended purpose to run away to a different dimension after the Fifth Umbral Calamity.

Dawntrail plotline ensues.

And you know what I find extra fascinating given all of this?

Sphene asking the WoL over and over "if I knew earlier what you do, if you were in my place, would have things worked out differently? Would the country I love have been saved without such sacrifice?"

She repeats these since the very first moment you meet her, and that question is aimed at YOU. Not any of the Scions or Wuk Lamat.

You, who are the reincarnation of the person who created the Key that made this whole situation possible. And their most likely motivation to make it was the search for a solution that didn't require all the death and misery Zodiark and Hydealyn brought.

It's such an insidious little question.

And the one single time in the expansion the WoL employs Azem's magic is the battle undergoing whilst the Key powers are activating. In Dawntrail, the WoL's role is that of a mentor for 90% of the narrative but THIS? This is your battle.

The advantage of having 2 WoLs

- At first Erenville asked Theodore, since he knew and had heard that Meowdred was a cranky bastard who was mercenary as fuck about these kinds of arrangements and he didn't want to subject Wuk Lamat to Mister Meow.

- But Meowdred and G'raha were returning from their Aloalo Island excursions at the same time Krile gave them the news, so when Meowdred and Krile said "Erenville is looking for you" Ho-Man of course immediately teleported to Old Sharlayan in under 10m.

Meowdred: If only your grocery runs are just as quick.

- Both Meowdred and Theodore did the hunt duty but afterwards, with everything explained, Meowdred was indeed like bro... idk... I hate long trips by sea and it's to meddle with someone else's foreign affairs?

G'raha pointed out that Meowdred had never been afraid of "meddling" in foreign affairs.

Meowdred: When the meddling entails fiery expulsion of invaders, yeah!

G'raha: This could be related to that.

Theodore: Are you not interested in this city of gold?

Meowdred: Are you kidding! An influx of gold will rock the economy! And if we find it AND someone new ascends the throne immediately before or after, that's a dangerous and volatile combination of changing economies and changing heads of state. I don't wanna be caught in all that.

Wuk Lamat: Uhhhhh.

Erenville out the corner of his mouth: I told you we should not bother the miqo'te.

Theodore: Don't you tell lies to our esteemed guest, Mordred. You know for a fact that an influx of gold would stimulate spending and be better for the economy. As you say, gold is blood, and blood must flow.

Krile: OK let's wrap this dinner up.

Meowdred: By the way if one of the four participants is a warmongering piece of shit why don't you just lose him down a ravine somewhere?

Wuk Lamat: UHHHHHH...

Theodore: Forgive him. He thinks in a straight line.

CONCLUSION

- Meowdred is not going immediately, but he probably will since his wife is CGI animated eating a taco so of course G'raha will end up on the other side somehow.

- While the rest set forth though, he will stay with G'raha and sort out the Students of Baldesion and they'll depart for Tural together.

- Theodore IS heading out with Wuk Lamat, Erenville and company. Uh oh, thought everyone who knew him. Uh oh uh oh uh oh.

- By the way, somehow the only person who still didn't know Theodore was gay and a fuckboy was Alphinaud.

- Oh well. Theodore will have LOTS of opportunity to talk about Mister Meow to his friends.

Top 5 Primals or Bosses? ^^

Oh a tricky one! There's just so many to choose from!

Spoilers contained within of course!

1. Has to be Statice from Aloalo Island. It's just such a fun silly fight. After all the war and danger it's awesome to fight a fairy with a gun who uses toys and pranks. I laughed so hard at the 'dodge the knock up by landing on a whoopie cushion'

2. Titania. I love the pixies and il mheg and the aesthetic and feel of the fight just hits me right!

3. Athena. The music, her wings, just... I'm weak to evil monster women! She's also one of the first patch content fights I tanked blind and I felt so powerful

4. Shiva. Shiva has been one of my favourite summons from the series, Diamond Dust always makes me happy. So getting to be on the receiving end? With Oblivion blasting? Amazing!

5. Menphina. That's Flidais's patron which I picked randomly, her being this magical girl style badass of the moon, with a giant pet Wolf felt like a "you 100% picked right and she was made for you" her music also being so good is the best!

FFXIV Patch 6.51 !!

Good Gods a lot has been happening. I finally have a moment to stop and post something 😅

I've been tending to my own personal island, traversing a new island, braving a crazy new event that Manderville added to the Gold Saucer with these hyperactive beans?

I'll be posting a lot of screenies below, some potentially spoiler-y so... unfold the cut if you're interested.

(I'm more or less posting these for sentimental/archival purposes but) Fall Guys Event!

Very anxiety inducing at first but once I got the hang of it, not so much, and rather fun 😎. Ngl though, I did stop queueing after getting all the glamour and pets I wanted, and reaching one win 👑

I need to hop back in for a couple more things but my router is literally dying and I'm waiting for my ISP to come out to fix the issue first. A lot of people, including myself, are learning from this event that the snapshotting sucks. So, I'd really prefer to have my net fixed before attempting to queue more.

Oh!! Something I wanted to throw out there for people who don't want to run this a whole lot but want to put the Fall Guys furniture to use. If you just buy ONE piece of each thing, you can place multiple of that furniture item on your island. Go crazy and make a "fun space". I've been considering doing it, lol. Just food for thought 😋

Island Sanctuary!

I'm not even remotely done here yet. I've hit Rank 20, got the Felicitous Furball glamour, and the 100k crowrie mount/bike, but there's a 200 Felicitous Voucher mount that is going to take agesssss to acquire. I've seen some people with it already. Likely bought the vouchers off the MB or traded with friends. The going rate for those vouchers on my server is 90k-95k each (atm). Buying all 200 of them would make the mount 19m (currently). I'll be patient and slowly earn them, lol 😋

Aloalo Island!

Okay, I'll just be transparent here. I love the Variant Dungeons 🥰. Maybe Zenos wasn't wrong when he was blabbing on about how I'm an adventurer looking for a challenge, or a test of skill. I feel like Variant Dungeons do that decently enough to keep me in a good place (don't get rusty), but don't push me too much to be annoyed (*cough*fliptables*cough*). I'm not a raider- I'm not OP. But I do like a little push or a challenge here and there.

So, for me, I see these as fun, with rewards that are worth the time and effort.

I cannot say the same for the Criterion version of them however. I haven't done them and I see a lot of people raging over the terrible rewards. If it's that many people, it's worth looking into and from what I have heard, they're right to be upset.

If you need raid gear to do Variant Dungeon and the reward gear is under or on par with the raid gear that's needed to do it- that's a huge no. I don't have all the facts or experience to know first hand how true that is though 🤷🏻‍♀️

Posting these 👆🏻 because this is my favorite path. I've always loved mimics and had this slight obsession with them since I played Ragnarok Online many years ago (my first MMO ever).

World of Warcraft: Retail (The War Within, Worldsoul Saga)

So, totally unrelated to FFXIV, but also related in a way... my BFF's BF talked her into playing WoW again, and she talked me into playing WoW again, lol (with the help of the cinematic). It's been FOUR years since I've played.

The reason I say it's "related in a way" is because I want to still play FFXIV at the same time and upkeep my FFXIV 'muscle memory'. I started doing the Loporrit Dailies recently - need to continue doing that. I still need to hit Series Level 25 in PvP - so I'll continue doing those daily. I need to continue getting my Island Sanctuary Felicitous Vouchers. And lastly, I began doing the weekly Custom Deliveries for Anden and Margrat. I intend to finish those for the Glamour and Mount. (It boggles my mind how people can say "I'm bored" in FFXIV. There's SO MUCH to do, always. Just admit that you're not bored, you're lazy 😑.)

If the muscle memory thing doesn't make sense, here's an example: It's when you drop/neglect one game for so long (let's call it Game A) to start playing another (Game B), that you completely forget the controls or lose the reflexes you once had for Game A, because you're too consumed living in Game B. I do not want that.

Just thinking about returning to WoW, I feel a bit overwhelmed. All of us used to play Horde for the majority of our gametime (my BFF and her BF, & some of my other friends who've quit). But before I quit, I was trying to make the permanent swap to Alliance (played Alliance for about a year). She's still playing Horde with her BF so I won't be playing with her unless I continue to play Horde. I'll need to find an Alliance server. It'll be cool if I can find a guild that has people who play both WoW & FFXIV. I need to look up which addons I'll need. I fear for all the crap I left in my inventory LOL.

But mainly. When I saw that new cinematic with Thrall and Anduin my heart broke. Anduin has gone through so much trauma in the time I have been away. All I could think about was "Wtf did they do to my King?" And now I feel like I'm crawling my way back and I'm over my head on how to do it. I need to know what happened to him.

(In BfA,) Azeroth turned into a joke and I was isekai'd away Anduin, I'm so sorry 😭. I'll bring some of the light back with me and give it to you, from Eorzea 💖
