Hey Salty Whatcha Thinking About
The other day I was thinking about my family's yearly vacation destination, Wildwood, New Jersey (my dad has been going there every year since the 50's and our family had gone every year up until I was in my 20's, and after a hiatus we started going back yearly a couple of years ago). Anyway, it's very close to Philadelphia (about an hour and a half drive) and recieves a large influx of Philly tourists every summer. What is my point... of course I'm thinking about how Jess Mariano has definitely spent time there after moving to Philly. Also thinking he's not much of a beach person but he would still come to the Jersey Shore for the boardwalks and to cruise for chicks and have a good time and get a hot dog.
(Pictured: Grab A Wiener, Wildwood, NJ)
Here’s me in WW last summer

One More Kiss
Claire and Ada find themselves in the cable car.
(swap au where claire is in leons place and claireada is canon... thats basically it)
Word Count: 919
Warnings: none!
Extra: This is taken from my AO3 account (m1dwestern_pr1ncess)! so if you see this on that site just know that's me LOLL!! gonna repost some of my fics from there to here!
"C'mon..” Claire said to herself as she pulled the lever, opening the door to the garbage pit. The smell hit her almost immediately, making her want to gag. The smell was horrible, but it was a slightly better change of pace than the horrific smell of rotten flesh and blood.
“Ada?” She called out, receiving on answer.
“Ada, where are you?” She called again, walking into the room, the smell getting more pungent as she got closer to the pile of waste.
“Over here!” Ada finally responded, making Claire's anxiety start to subside. She approached her, seeing Ada lying on ground.
“Are you okay? I was getting worried for a sec,” Claire asked her, staring at the object that had been stabbed into Adas thigh.
“I can’t get it out,” Ada replied to her.
“Do you want me to pull it out?” Claire asked gently.
“Please, just do it. I can’t walk like this,” Ada said, shaking her head. Claire nodded, taking a deep breath.
“Okay.. it’s gonna hurt like hell.” She quipped, making Ada roll her eyes.
Claire gripped the metal object before ripping it out, causing Ada to groan.
“Hold on..” Claire said as she pulled some gauze out of her pants pocket, putting it onto Ada’s open wound.
“I can do it myself.” Ada said to her. “Just relax, okay?” Claire said as she started to wrap her leg. Ada watched as she bandaged her up, hissing through her teeth from the pain.
“So.. what's the plan now?” Claire asked, glancing at Ada. “Get yourself out of here. While you still can. “ She cautioned.
“I’m not just going to leave you. Not like this.” Claire said, concerned as she lifted her head to look at Ada. “You don’t understand. The situation is worse than I thought.” Ada explained, but Claire was adamant.
“You’re not getting rid of me that easy.. You protected me, so now, it's my turn.” She said to her, a soft smile on her face.
“I didn’t realize we were keeping score..” Ada stifled a chuckle. Claire held her hand out to Ada, which she took as she stood up. “
Here, grab my shoulder.” Claire said, but Ada declined. “Don’t push it,” She said. “Alright.. Just trying to help.” Claire shrugged as Ada began to walk (limp) out of the room.
“You want to help? We have to get to the NEST.” Ada told her.
“NEST?” Claire raised her eyebrow. “Umbrella’s lab, right beneath us. Annette let it slip. That's where the virus samples are. You up for this?” Ada asked her.
“Think I can fit it in my schedule.” Claire joked. “Well? Come on. We’ve got work to do.” Ada replied as she continued walking. “Yes, ma’am.” Claire chuckled.
༺═───────────────────────═༻
After a short walk, the pair had arrived at the cable car. “Here we are,” Ada said as she used her wristband to open the doors to it. Ada walked in first, walking down the stairs and sitting on the metal bench, clutching her abdomen. “This may be a one-way ride. So be prepared, Claire.” Ada told her, and Claire nodded in response. She walked to the control panel, and pulled the lever to get it to start moving. The machine whirred alive, making its descent to the Umbrella laboratory. “THIS TRAM IS BOUND FOR NEST. DO NOT EXIT UNTIL ITS FINAL DESTINATION.” The automated voice came from the speakers.
After a bit of awkward silence, Ada began to speak. “Once I obtain the G-Virus, I’m on my own again.” Ada told Claire. “Hey, Claire.. Trust me?” She asked her as Claire she walked up the stairs, stopping in front of her.
“Do you trust me?” Claire asked her. “Honestly.. If I didn’t, you’d probably be dead.” Ada answered. “Right..” Claire said, starting to walk away from her. “Look,” Ada began, making Claire stop in her tracks.
“I thought I might need your help.. And I was right. If you can secure the G-Virus, I can make sure what happened in Raccoon City never happens again.” She explained to her.
“Ada..” Claire said, sitting next to Ada. “You said it yourself.. It’s a federal case.”
“I’m nothing but a liability now,” Ada began, turning to look at Claire. “And if I’m going to finish this case, you’re the last hope I’ve got.”
“I’m not just going to leave you here, Ada,” Claire said, making eye contact with her.
“What if you’re attacked, what if you need help-” Claire rambled before Ada leaned in, kissing her.
Claire was shocked, but leaned in, kissing Ada back. It felt like a lifetime before they stopped.
“I’ll be fine. Don’t worry about me.” Ada said to her. “I gotta see this through.. And I want to see you again.” She placed her hand on Claire’s knee. “I’ve got plenty to live for, trust me.” Ada wanted to lean in for another, but the tram had made it to the Umbrella Laboratory.
“NOW ARRIVING AT NEST.” The voice over the intercom announced loudly.
Both the women looked at the door as the tram slowly halted to a stop.
“Go. Please, we don’t have much time.” Ada said, taking off her I.D. bracelet and putting it in Claire’s hand. The other woman looked at it, observing the green glow the chip gave off.
“Okay,” She said, nervously putting it on her wrist. Claire stood up, walking to the open doors of the tram.
“Claire,” Ada called out to her, making her turn to look.
“I’m counting on you.”

Trouble to the rescue
Julian calls Anneliese when he is suddenly sick at the park. Anneliese is pretty overwhelmed with the situation, not understanding why he would want a practical stranger over his best friend.
Warning: vomiting
---------------------------
"Juls, we gotta call someone." Anneliese was desperate. She had never seen him like this.
Julian gagged over the bag, his jaw hanging open over it. They sat on a public bench for Christ's sake and she couldn't figure out a way to get him home.
He didn't stop gagging since she found him. And if he didn't call her, she wouldn't have found him at all.
This was ridiculous. Julian was a tall strong guy who had a bunch of strong tough friends. It didn't make sense to call her.
Although she kind of understood. On a very weird emotional level that she couldn't quite put to words yet.
Juls spat in the bag and then lifted his head, a lopsided smile on his face. His face was so white it made his tanned skin look all gray and weird. "Please don't."
How he was able to smile in this situation she had no idea. Stress smiling for real.
"Juls, you-"
His whole body shuddered then, interrupting her. She watched his back spasm and then he gagged and vomited loudly into the bag again. His back was bend over so much she wondered how it didn't break in two.
She tried to be comforting, but this was new. She was knew on this bloody campus, at the boxing gym, at the club, with the boys. They were part of work, part of her ethnographic project, school assignment to get herself into new situations. Becoming friends with them wasn't part of the deal, even if it helped her gain access.
Caring about them wasn't part of the deal either.
Hesitantly, she put her hand on Julian's back. Didn't dare to rub, just held it there, a silent offering of comfort.
More splashing hit the bag. He burped a few times, and when nothing came up, straightened a little. Leaning into her touch, she noticed.
"Please don't-uuurp-don't call him." His face was all sweaty and strained, and still there was that stupid effort for a smile. A pleading smile.
"It doesn't have to be Ryan, but it has to be someone." She tried to reason with him, finally daring to rub his soaked back gently. He leaned back on the bench, exhausted, eyebrows furrowed.
"Juls," trying to get his attention with the nickname again. She never used it before this weird fateful day. It was Ryan's nickname after all.
Why can't it be Ryan though? From his reaction she knew it couldn't, but it didn't make any sense. They were glued to the hip at uni, at the club and they were obviously comfortable with each other. So touchy for guys. Heck, even for friends. She didn't dare hug her roommate and best friend Penn the way Ryan and Julian would hug each other out of nowhere. Or wrap hands around the other's neck or drag each other around. Anneliese envied that kind of casual closeness. She wanted to watch it, study it and understand it, as if that would make it feel any better.
So why was this suddenly off limits?
"Ann," Julian muttered. She blinked. He had never used a nickname on her. Anneliese didn't have nicknames, despite her long ass name. No one ever dared to give her one.
"I would love to help you, Julian. I swear I would. But I don't know how to drive a car here, and you were so mysterious at the phone I just took a tram and I can't imagine dragging you across the city to the campus in this state, and I know I make for a real lousy rescuer after all that confident talk-"
"Ann."
Somehow that little sound made her stop in her tracks as quickly as it got her going.
"I'm sorry. It's fine. I-I panicked and I needed to see someone. It's okay."
"No, it's not. You are not." Anneliese took a deep breath. "Alright that's enough. I don't know why I'm panicking. I will just call us a Bolt and it will be fine." Getting her phone out, she was tapping the app open and calling the taxi before the sentence was even finished.
Anneliese felt really stupid for not thinking of that sooner. But it was such a shock to see Julian like this. He was so strong, so steady, friendly and easy to get along with. Her anchor at this stupid Erasmus exchange programme she did for all the wrong reasons. A polite nice face to greet her everyday that Ryan did something to throw her off her game, when Coleson scowled at her, when Lucian looked like he didn't see her at all.
Freaking guys. She really shouldn't have picked a research project involving them just because boxing was the most far away thing from her comfort zone. (Which was the freaking assignment.)
Julian coughed, then leaned back against the bench, closing his eyes. Anneliese's hand lingered on his shoulder. Then she cupped his neck and then his cheek. Her hands were always cold, but he was truly burning up under her touch, sweaty and strained. His face was changing colours rapidly, from chalk white to blood red to greenish purple.
"I'm sorry for being so much trouble," he sighted.
She scoffed. "No. I'm sorry for being a measly rescuer."
Julian cracked an eye open. "I forced you into a weird situation. It won't happen again."
She winced at that and let her hand fall away, hanging limply beside his. "Don't say that." Her voice was small. "I'm glad you called me." I don't understand why you did, but I am.
At least he asked for help from someone. Maybe it was easier with a stranger he didn't care about. Julian cared too much too quickly about things. And he cared about real stupid things too, like being a burden or imposing or whatever other impolite thing he couldn't imagine inflicting on someone with his presence.
A sweaty hand slipped into hers then. She blinked and looked up. Julian's eyes were closed again, his face relaxed suspiciously, but at least not forcing a smile.
He squeezed her hand slightly. She squeezed it right back. Hard.
They sat in silence for a bit, understanding and awkwardness hanging between them.
"Come on. The car is here," she said, breaking the moment. Hopefully to create a better one.

Day 17: Crossover/AU
(I am no good at this kind of stuff so I guess I'll do a canon/one of my fics. 'Complete Mess' the only difference between one and the other is that Ingo and Emmet adopt a young girl who turns out to be an ancient pokemon thats almost extinct)
"Alright Lake...now remember you'll be getting off of the blue line today and not the red. You have a doctors appointment." Emmet told his younger adopted sister as she was going toward the exit for school. Emmet was fully planning on riding the train the rest of the way to the battle subway. He was scheduled today and Ingo was already there.
"You okay Emmet?" Emmet felt his younger sister put her hand in his and looked up at him. Those tender eyes watching his every move. Her face broke into a smile for him. The only person who has ever gotten Ingo to smile. Although she never saw it, and Ingo never knew Emmet had seen. Its why Emmet had begun to call it Ingo's secret smile.
"Coming upon Festival Avenue." One more stop and Lake would be at school. The lights overhead blinked and the train car slowly stopped.
"Whats going on?" "Why have we stopped?" "Was their an accident?" people around them in the full train car began to spout questions.
Emmet took his sisters hand once again and walked to the front of the car to look in at the controls. they were completely off. Normally the internal batteries would kick in and they'd at least keep going to the next stop.
Emmet opened the door using his boss key card and picked up the receiver.
"Mayday, Mayday. We are in the blue tram and we've stopped on the tracks. Power is out. Mayday Mayday..." He kept going, his other hand around his sisters shoulders as she leaned on him. She was afraid of the dark.
"Reading you loud and clear Emmet. We're sending someone to that location. Please insure everyone is seated and not panicking." Ingo was always afraid for the people.
"Don't worry Ingo everyone's calm, although asking a lot of questions. Even little Lake seems to be calm." Okay she wasn't calm in the least bit, she was shaking. But she wasn't crying.
"Who's Lake?" Ingo's inquiry shocked Emmet. He hoped that was a joke, It was Ingo who signed Lakes adoption papers. He was legally her father. He could see the troubled look on her face as the train car opened and Ingo stopped up onto the tram.
"Follow me." He turned to look at Emmet and he narrowed his eyes. He turned to look behind him. Emmet knew perfectly well this wasn't his brother, his brother had a receding hairline because of his time in Hisui. this one seemed brand new and no scars. this wasn't their Unova.
"We need to talk." Ingo's suave voice told him after the people left the car.
"Great..." Emmet mumbled holding Lake closer to his hip. her arms wrapped around his middle harder.
(Just in case anyone wants to read it.)

AMSTERDAM?!? THE BICYCLE CITY?!? YOU'RE A LOCAL FROM A LEGEND :o please please tell me what it is like and also, were there always bicycles there from what you can remember? obsessed with the idea of Amsterdam-ifying other cities so <3 please give me the local (urban planning/design experience) goss
once again im not from amsterdam!! i dont live near there and im at best only somewhat familiar with the city bc some of my friends live near there now 😭 i dont like it much like i mentioned before, its just sort of massive and i think it lacks a bit of personality compared to other cities if that makes any sense lol!! its also busy and crowded which i also dont like much i need my peace of mind </3 i much much prefer the smaller cities which feel friendlier and more like a community. its not all bad ofc i think theres loads of beautiful places and the old women there are very nice for some reason. also the hipster stores and cafes there are fire what can i say
the bikes have always been there! i dont know how long but im guessing... since the invention of the bicycle? dutch ppl saw the flat landscape and took the opportunity. (biking isnt confined to amsterdam!! we do it in the entire country) i think biking in big cities is scary though 😭😭😭 im a small town girl I dont need a TRAM to come racing at me while im trying to cross a street!!!!!! I dont think ive ever biked in amsterdam itself but especially the notion of biking in the centre makes me a bit nauseous bc its not only busy its also flooded with tourists who dont have the Dutch Awareness of watching out for bikes which ive seen result in a few crashes (terrifying dont ever want to be involved in that). the outer regions of the city are fine though i did bike there once and I lived to tell the tale <3
to amsterdamify any city you need 3 things: water, streets that are just barely accessible to cars, and loads of tourists. get a canal. now make the road next to the canal small but just large enough to fit a single car. now put 4 lost tourists in that street. congrats you now have a street in amsterdam city center 💛

the hot weather makes me sad. it's gonna be close to 100 degrees this week and it'll be october! WTHECK MAN.
anyway, camping was fun!! we were only staying a night, so we left early to get to the park. picked up some pandesal on the way & got there around 830ish? so we hit the trail right away and probably took 3 hours to do the hike lol. it definitely was supposed to be quicker but we took a lot of breaks and had snacks at the peak of it. by the end, there wasn't much tree cover & it was getting hot, so the last half mile or so was lowkey agony. afterwards, we grabbed the sun shade & a blanket from the car and posted up in some grass by the lake & had a lunch of egg salad sandos and onigiri. i got very sleepy & tried to nap but failed, so i just read some of guardian instead (my reading of choice for the wilderness is BL with supernatural elements i guess LOL).
closer to 2 we headed to the campsite, setting up wasn't that bad (i think it took about 30-40 min). i played some genius star at the camp table, took a hammock nap, and read & snacked to pass the afternoon. for dinner we made brisket & pork belly, ramyeon, & some veggies (definitely in part bc the brisket+noodles+lettuce they were eating on spring camp made me want it). washed it all down with beer and soju &got pleasantly drunk. we went camping last year in arnold which felt very quiet and woodsy but the vibes at this camp site were pretty different! like, people around us were playing music, which usually would irritate me, but they were playing some old school jams so i was fine with it & it actually made me more relaxed. once the sun went down, the people a few campsites down had a big projector screen & were watching despicable me.. LMAO. meanwhile, we sat at the campfire & had a nightcap of hot chocolate and some pocky. it actually got super cold & i was bundled up in a jacket and a fleece blanket my mom made. sleeping in the tent after such a long day felt sooooo good after.
the next morning, we had coffee & pandesal with eggs and vienna sausage. something about breakfast while camping just hits, especially when it's hella early. hahah. we lounged for a while before tearing down camp, but the sun came through & was hella bright, and it got hot so fast. we definitely got out of there by 1030 but it felt so much later because of the heat.
then we met up with my sister on the way back for some socially distanced ice cream. & went to a small coffee shop where they really had halloween/autumn on display. the vibe was already very dark academia leaning so it rly felt like fall! it was the first day of fall too! i was so pleased lol.
when we got home i took a well needed shower. i think one night camping, especially going somewhere so close was a pretty good move (we almost did two nights at first). & next year i would be down to go with a bigger group for sure.
on thursday & friday i played tennis! thursday was rj's birthday, so we went to hotpot after for dinner. tram & i got these soju capri sun style drinks that were hella fucking strong lol. i ended up with a freakin' hangover at work on friday.. but my boss was out so i took half the day from home bwahaha. on friday we played again since everyone was free, & then afterwards we went to jollibee for dinner. it was LITTTT &took hella long to get our food, but it was so good.
afterwards i drove back to my parents' & stayed the night. i slept super late because i found a bunch of bootleg recordings of kyuhyun's musical songs on soundcloud LMAO. honestly, i have no idea what korean frankenstein is about, & i've definitely heard that the plot is more bonkers than it needs to be, but one thing they're gonna do is make victor frankenstein a poor little meow meow.
in the morning i had to wake up early to hit up downtown with my sister. shockingly, it was warm enough already that a tank top was enough.. TT we walked around & got coffee beans for my dad, some coffee for ourselves, & then went to the bookstore. i got a book called "what you are looking for is in the library." so far i enjoy it but i don't really know where it's going. lol. then we got some pastries at a popup toni's cousin was doing. toni also drove into town that morning so she joined us briefly. then we all parted ways since my sister was going to a game, & i went back home.
i definitely should go home more, but it sounds like my parents are usually busy on the weekends anyway. hahah but yesterday i got to third wheel with them to dinner & the outlets. got myself a candle, a necklace and a new shirt :] it's one of those sweater-shirts with a collar, which is a style i have no clue if i can rock, so... we'll see. haha
&now september is basically over. it feels like it's about to be october, but it also doesn't? this month went by so quickly.. but also it didn't. IDK. from here on out, i'm gonna be pretty busy for the rest of the year! we're doing an early thing for my dad's birthday next week, then a couple of weeks after that i have plans with different groups of friends, then im going to hawaii with allison & our moms & marty & jake. and then japan! it's like all these plans i made months ago are finally about to be here & it doesn't feel real yet, i guess.
okay, i should wrap this up & then get ready for tennis. my body is so tired though!!!

Nostalgia in the Breeze: A Night on the Wildwood Boardwalk
As the sun begins its descent over North Wildwood, a familiar sound graces the air – the unmistakable warning of the tram car carried on the sea breeze. “Watch the tram car, please.” The decision lingers in the salty air: retreat indoors and call it a day or surrender to the allure of the boardwalk’s nocturnal charm? The repetitive yet comforting announcement serves as a beckoning melody,…

#it takes place in fucking WILDWOOD. of all the places.#main character works on the boardwalk#if the book doesn’t include at least one ‘watch th - watch - watch the tram - watch - watch the tram car please’ then it’s ruined

Stella's Favorite Beach Blanket
Stella just found her new favorite beach blanket!
I was walking on the boardwalk by Spencer Avenue, and I saw my new favorite beach blanket! These photos were taken on Friday, September 23rd, 1967. (…Or, was the 2023?) This was hanging in front of a store window. It’s so cool. Don’t you think? The blanket features the iconic Wildwoods sign on the boardwalk, and the Sightseer tram car! “Watch the tram car, please!” reads the blanket. Anyone…

[Santai] My Go-To Beaches in Adelaide
Disclaimer: I am no expert in Travel & Dining, everything mentioned is solely based on my personal preferences and experience.
Adelaide is a beautiful, petite, laid-back city that I once called home.
Lovely people. Relatively convenient and safe to walk from one suburban to another, even at night. Yes, I have once walked from Mile End to North Terrace, after 10 pm. Cos, I missed the bus and it was too cold to wait.
I lived in a suburban, about 20 minutes away from the CBD, by car. One of my favourite things about Adelaide's beaches is the fact that they’re so accessible for day excursions. You'll discover quaint towns and breathtaking coastal views — Adelaide's sandy shores and ocean waves are practically unavoidable! Once a student, I mostly travelled by bus, trams, and occasionally, trains. Within the hour you can find yourself mingling in Glenelg, honing your swimming skills at Semaphore or simply lounging by sunset in Henley.
Being a typical Malaysian, I usually ever use sunscreens only during sports or bathing in the ocean. But here, please, please. Apply sunscreens whenever you go out! Especially during Spring/Summer. On top of the dry weather, the heat hits differently, so I adopted irreversible freckles. (I even used lip balms all year round as my lips will be chapped).
For this article, the tentative will be directed from Adelaide CBD. To chill & unwind, here are the beaches I visited the most:
1. Semaphore Beach (Postcode: 5019)
Long, wide and bordered by low dunes, Semaphore Beach comes alive as the warm weather arrives.
■ Driving time: About 25 minutes ( ~ 14km)
■ Bus Ride: roughly 1.5 hours (including walks)
Take Bus number 157 [Largs Bay] at Stop T2 Grenfell St - South Side. Hop off at Stop 44 Military Rd - West Side.
■ Best for:
Adelaide Annual Kite Festival
Vitamin D - Walks, Swims, sunbaths
Gatherings & Picnics
Thrifting
Affordable fresh, scrumptious, big servings of Fish and chips. (And other deep-fried items)
Visitors and locals will set up spots on the sand and explore the grassy foreshore, or perhaps to fish/crab off the pier. The Annual Adelaide International Kite Festival is hosted over the Easter Long Weekend, gives me joy and makes me feel giddy. It is not as big and festive as Pasir Gudang International Kite Festival, still, it is fun and pleasant to attend. The Semaphore Jetty is the best place to see the kites flying.
To me, Semaphore is more than just a beach attraction. Seems quiet, yet it is a whole town with so many “little” things to discover. Do you love food, culture and heritage? You will enjoy your visit here. Although the buses do not stop right next to the beach, the long walk towards the beach is fulfilling. Strolling on the Semaphore road, you will pass by many interesting eateries, random shops and friendly locals. I often do thrifting here: better options and values in comparison to the OPs in other suburbs.
One of Semaphore's major attractions will be its beautifully preserved Art Deco buildings and of course, the Semaphore's 1920s Palais. Originally constructed as a bathing pavilion, many consider this iconic property as the perfect spot for a delightful pub lunch, over the mesmerising sunset.
My routine was getting food from nearby eateries and sitting on the grass near the Time Ball Tower. Basking under the sunny day and breezy weather, I savour the vinegared barramundi & chicken-salted chips and simply enjoy chatting with friends or bird-watching. (Watch out for the poops!) Many times, I caught on Malaysian families having picnics here. Thanks to the wind-whisperers carrying the tantalizing “scents” of homemade nasi lemak and chicken curry puffs or the tunes of elders converse in Manglish.
Then, I’ll take a walk by the shoreline. I would say the water here is clearer than Henley’s and Glenelg’s. It is common to have neighbourhood houses near the beaches, but, in Semaphore, the houses are literally across the road. I imagined the family community here was tight. I’m easily touched by kindness. As you take the steps off the foreshore, right next to the jetty, I found a net of many tools/toys for anyone to play with and build sand castles. There is a notice reminding us to have fun and be responsible, and return them in fair conditions! (Something along those lines)
2. Glenelg (Postcode: 5045)
If you're looking for the easiest to access, and the closest beach to visit, choose Glenelg Beach.
■ Driving time: About 20 minutes (~ 9km)
■ Tram/Bus Rides: 50 minutes to 1 hour (Including Walks)
Take a Tram ride to Glenelg from Rundle Mall. Hop off at Stop 27 Moseley Square
Take bus number H20[Glenelg] from Stop T1 Grenfell St - South Side. Hop off at Zone B Colley Tce - West Side (3-min walk)
Take bus number 265[Marion] from Stop A3 King William Rd - East Side. Hop off at Zone C Colley Tce - East Side (3-min walk)
Take bus number 168[Glenelg] from Stop B2 Pulteney St - East Side. Hop off at Zone B Colley Tce - West Side (3-min walk)
■ Best for:
Many shop&dining options
Sunsets
Beach Sports
Other seasonal activities such as open cinema and festivals.
At any given time of the day, it is always bustling whenever I go there, all year round.
The tram ride will take you right next to the Moseley Square. You’ll be standing right on the sand within a minute or so! There is also a plentiful supply of picnic areas, playgrounds and other family-friendly activities. There is something for everyone here. Away from the ocean, you’ll find a mix of quality stores: cafés, restaurants, dessert shops, surf and clothing boutiques, and many more ~
I usually go there for desserts, sunsets & movies.
3. Henley Beach (Postcode: 5022)
Getting off the bus, you will witness Henley Beach’s flat sands.

Crabbing
The shoreline stretches as far as the eye can see, with plenty of space for laying out your towel. Perfect summer’s beach scene in mind. If you're seeking a “luxury” experience, the esplanade is surrounded by many upscale shops, cafes and seafood restaurants. These were never up my alley and were never my purpose for going there.
Heading to the esplanade, you will first be greeted by the Henley Surf Life Saving Club. Compared with Moseley Square in Glenelg, personally, in the evening, the lighting here is far more charming and soothing.
I initially went there for some alone time and a quick dip after work. Then, I fell in love with the sunsets. The esplanade walk is also a popular exercise option for cyclists, joggers and walkers. There are so many seats and lounge areas for everyone to sit down comfortably. Hence, it is common for me to travel to Henley Beach just to catch the sunsets!
I enjoy my walks along the jetty and see the catches of the day (by other people). Especially crabs. Oh, it is common to see a fish guideboard on the jetties of Adelaide beaches. So, you can somewhat anticipate what you might catch on!
Stopping by The Halal“Diner” halfway through the bus ride is a must. They specialised in fried chicken, but the visit was the highlight of my trip because they served one of my favourite AB menus! (Second best to Yiros House on Rundle Street) Unfortunately, I forgot both the names of the shop & the suburban. :(
All the beaches mentioned have swim-worthy waters and great jetties for fishing/crabbing.
I’m not a surfer. But, if you are an avid surfer, people usually go to Moana Beach and Aldinga Beach for a solid break almost year-round. Also, for more picturesque views of South Australian beaches, travel a little further and discover the top five Fleurieu Peninsula beaches: Southport Beach, Blowhole Beach, Second Valley, Waitpinga Beach and Port Elliot.
North Terrace campus is in the perfect position to explore many of the city’s best beaches. You’re just an easy tram, train or bus ride away from relaxing by the ocean.
Not sponsored -- Get a world-class education, a supportive environment and amazing facilities. If given the chance, you should consider studying at The University of Adelaide! (recommended for Science courses. For Humanities, maybe can also consider the UniSA?)
Happy Travelling peeps!

Arrival to and evening at Lidernenhütte
We all met back up a few minutes before the bus arrival. The “bus” turned out to be a 13 passenger van with a printed paper sign on the dash stating it was route 541. We piled in the van and had 2 seats to spare after a few others climbed in. We soon learned the reason for the small van as the road was 1 lane and very windy with occasional pull outs for cars to pass. We made it to the Riemstalden where we hopped off the van/bus and noted a fairly low tech looking blue building that housed the cable car we were supposed to take to get close to our hut. We were a bit puzzled as there seemed to be no one manning any stations and there were lots of instructions in german including one on a door that said “knock please” per google translate, but nothing happened after knocking. Eventually we heard the engine fire up so decided to hop in the tram and see what happened and sure enough we started moving soon after and had an enjoyable and scenic ride to the top. At the top we found a large family hanging out with young kids and the grandma went to get a money bag and started speaking to us in German. Her daughter eventually helped translate that she was asking how old the children were. We relayed the info and were told we needed to pay 62 CHF for roundtrip tickets for the fam. Thankfully, Matt had read in advance that it was cash only so had some CHF in his wallet. She accepted the money and then gave us some nondescript tickets and sent us on our way. We had a short 15 min walk to the Lidernenhütte, but still got sweaty as it was super hot and a bit uphill. On arrival the kids were excited to see they had lots of kid size crocs in the croc/mud/shoe room as well as some kid games and toys. We were shown to a 12 bunk room but told we had it all to ourselves but to please pick only 6 beds to sleep in. After much hemming and hawing dad made an executive decision that we’d sleep in the top 6 beds. We were also happy to see there was free potable water at this hut (but no wifi…). We unpacked a bit then relaxed and played with duplos and dino toys on the deck before setting out to explore the surrounding area. The kids had fun carving words and designs into small rocks in a nearby meadow. We then went in for dinner and had another tasty dinner of apple/celery soup (tasted better than it sounded), very good salad, a 12ish (!!!) layer lasagna and dessert of Straciatella pudding and an apple. All were in agreement that this hut meal beat the previous night’s dinner. Just as we were finishing dinner a squall blew through and it rained and hailed very hard for about 5 minutes, we enjoyed watching this then headed up to relax on our bunk and read some books before heading to bed. We had in part booked the hut due to the reportedly excellent sunset views but were instead treated to a big lightning storm view and it seemed to storm throughout the night.

Word Prompt — NSFW
Word: Loving WIP: Darkspace Portent Timeline: possibly a mild AU in the midst of Eternal CW: 18+ for sexual content Word Count: 1,905 Additional Notes: I wanted to be a lil bit softer and show another facet to Thrive and Warren’s intimacy 😭
***
Warren tensed at feeling a hand at the back of his neck, relaxed when it squeezed him with restrained firmness and left behind a welcome and familiar pinprick of affection before it trailed away and Thrive entered his periphery. He stood at the bar, head cocked with gentle bewilderment and amusement.
"A public setting," he muttered, though his proximity to Warren guaranteed he could be heard. He glanced around at the other patrons and the bartenders, then at the glass of cloudy red liquid sitting within Warren's grasp. "Are you about to terminate our relationship?"
The casualness of the question, while assuring Warren that he was kidding, sent an uncomfortable chill down his spine nonetheless. "If I ever decide to do that, it will be seconds before I beg to finally be sent to a mental health institution. Not a nice one, either." He took another sip of his calming drink, the bite of vodka dancing with the alien fruit juices in a palatably pleasing manner. "Good to see you here, anyway."
Thrive stepped aside as the human behind him left the bar with their group, freeing up the stool, and he delicately perched himself beside Warren. "…You asked me here."
"I actually did not." Warren shook his head. "You sent me a message."
"Ah. Corin."
"You think?" Warren grinned. "It's only been five hours since I've seen you. It's not like we have to be near each other all the goddamn time."
"I'd say we're fairly decent at surviving our physical separations." Thrive politely declined the bartender that approached him and ran a hand over the counter. "…We survived our trial separation rather admirably."
Warren shook his head. "Don't remind me." He watched Thrive's long fingers drum against the lacquered wood. "What'd you hope to get out of this meeting, anyway, babe?"
Thrive graced him with a mischievous smile, the neon blue from the signs on the wall warring with the manufactured green of his eyes. "I usually prefer to leave that sort of thing up to you."
"Well, we got a big ol' space station at our disposal." Heat flushed Warren's throat and he drained the rest of his drink, hoping the sudden spike of adrenaline didn't outwardly affect how urgently he'd done so. "You wanna go somewhere in particular?"
"I didn't have anything specific in mind, no."
"Okay." Warren swallowed the last of the vodka sticking to the back of his throat, gaze glued to Thrive's. He tapped his slat card on the bar top, knee bouncing on the stool with the force of a jackhammer. "Your place or mine?"
"Presumptuous," Thrive murmured.
"Hey, we've talked about this—if you're not feeling it, I'm not feeling it. We don't have to have sex just because I want it."
"But you do want it."
Warren released a breath through pursed lips. "I made the unfortunate mistake of being in a really long-term relationship with someone who can turn me on just by using big words, so, my bad?"
"Do you still have an apartment on the Node?"
"I think so." Warren handed the card to the bartender as they passed. "I think vets have permanent residence. Or we could just do it here in front of everyone, I know how much you'd appreciate that."
Thrive chuckled.
The trek to Warren's old Node apartment took a grueling hour, the entirety of which was spent in a packed tram car full of restless bodies that forced Warren and Thrive to keep a maximum distance of a whole inch as they stood at the center, separated by a single pole. The silver lining presented itself when Thrive allowed him to kiss him only because no one paid them any mind for once, and Warren was already dying to anyway, and the extent of harm it did was drive a further ache deep into him that seemed more and more impossible to repress the longer it took to get to their destination.
Upon arrival, Warren jogged up to the door to jam his thumb into the reader, begging under his breath for it to work. A sweeter sound than the granted entry tone did not exist, and relief flooded him right as Thrive caught up, sweeping an arm into his midsection to physically swing him into the small quarters.
The beep of the lock went unnoticed as Thrive had cradled Warren's face in his strong hands and locked their lips together, and Warren melted into him, submerged himself in his scent and his taste and his mental presence. Every time they connected it felt like the first time, and this was no exception.
Thrive pulled Warren to the claustrophobic bed nestled in a nook sliced into the back wall. "I will let you dictate the pace of the night," he said quietly, interlocking their fingers together.
"Sure, leave the difficult decisions up to me," Warren teased between kisses. "Exercise some autonomy for once, will you?"
Thrive hummed, slipping Warren's jacket off his shoulders. "Are you certain that's a wise choice?"
Warren shuddered, hands pawing at Thrive's waist and seeking out his taut muscles. "Yeah. God, yeah, strum me like a fucking electric guitar."
"I'm sensing vulnerability." Thrive took Warren's hair in a gentle hand, tipping his head to expose his throat. He pressed a lingering kiss to his pulse point, running his other hand lovingly over his chest. "Insecurity."
"Sometimes a guy just wants to be held and told he's handsome."
Thrive pulled away far enough to grasp Warren's chin and gaze into his eyes. "You are handsome," he said firmly. "Anyone in this plane of reality would be lucky to look into your face as I am now."
Warren's cheeks dusted with flush. "Looks like you're the lucky one, huh?"
"So it would seem." Thrive sat on the bed with his back against the wall and encouraged Warren to straddle his lap. "I deem it a privilege to receive your expressions of love, and perhaps one day I'll deserve them."
Warren kissed him deep, full of passion, and though some small parts of kissing Thrive felt foreign and new even after all this time, a comfortable yet ultimately still unfamiliar display of affection, the best of it was right and natural and filled his heart with joy and love he couldn't feel before he met him, and once again he began to touch the galaxy with his fingertips while they crept beneath the folds of Tournaltis fabric.
Thrive leaned away from the wall to tug the form-hugging material off of his torso, to pull the bodysuit past his arms and waist, to yank Warren's shirt up over his head, to distribute the heat of his lips to the base of his throat, to splay his hands across the lines and gentle curves of his back. Warren gripped handfuls of golden hair, the working cords of powerful shoulders as Thrive laid him down the unfortunate length of the bed.
"Got enough room?" Warren asked, grinning sheepishly when Thrive shifted around him to accommodate for his height.
Thrive tossed an exasperated look down to him and braced an arm against the wall over Warren's head. "I may need to bring this up with the housing department."
Warren slipped his hands past the bodysuit and his palms met the flesh of Thrive's backside. "Hmm…right now I have no complaints."
"The conditions of this apartment are inhumane."
"Normally I'd find it incredibly hot that you're taking such a stance on this, but I am desperate here," Warren pleaded. "Remember? Vulnerable and insecure and begging for you to make my toes curl."
"Settle, love," Thrive purred, assisting Warren in removing his jeans. "Patience heightens the senses."
Before Warren could respond, Thrive silenced him with another passionate kiss, a strategic touch, a steady stroking rhythm, a building pressure in his groin, a startling strike of a hand against the panel in the metal wall beside them. Warren's eyes flew open and he watched Thrive search the now-open compartment with a half-dazed expression.
"Ah." Thrive reached in to retrieve a rose-gold bottle Warren almost didn't recognize as he was still disoriented. "I didn't expect this to still be here."
"Are you…when did you get the rest of your clothes off?"
"Just a moment ago."
Warren blinked. "Oh…god. You have magic hands."
"I've been told." Thrive liberally layered his fingers with the lubrication, transferring some of it to himself and pretending not to hear the loud groan Warren emitted at the sight. "Almost exclusively by you, mind."
"Ah—wait, almost?!"
Thrive imbued him with a diabolical smile.
Within the next few minutes, he'd made his home inside of Warren and held his lax form close as they rocked together, and Warren's fingers traced the structure of Thrive's face, and their legs wrapped around each other in a borderline uncomfortable bind due to their lack of space, and Warren wrapped himself as tightly around Thrive's frame as he could, and he wasn't certain his sounds weren't carried through the Node, but his brain was filled with his and Thrive's sensations and memories of making love to the music of Skywaste and to the sunrise of Tournaltis and against a wall of stars and azure-indigo clouds.
"Look at me, th'saiya," Thrive whispered, brushing a thumb over the pronounced bone of Warren's cheek. "I love you."
Warren always felt that love. Every time. And he could feel his own love through Thrive.
His release was loud as usual and breathless, and he caught the shiver rolling through Thrive moments before he slowed to a stop. Sweat that didn't surprise him but only just then made its presence known cooled sharply, painted chills that permeated his muscles.
Thrive held him close, warming him again with his intense body heat.
"Uh, in case that wasn't clear," Warren panted at length, "I love you, too."
"I lied."
Warren frowned. "I beg your fucking pardon?"
Thrive nodded and glanced back to his own legs, one of which he had contorted into a normally unbearable angle to avoid the wall. "…I sent the message."
Warren paused in disbelief, then let slip a bark of laughter. "That is stupid cute. God, you're fucking cute."
He threw his arms around Thrive, rolling on top of him as best he could given the circumstances. Much later, they slept at the apartment, hesitantly parting ways the next morning as Thrive had meetings well into common midday and Warren decided to go back to Tournaltis.
"I'll see you in a few days," Warren said at the docks, keeping an eye out for the captain of the ship that agreed to give him a ride. He patted the side of Thrive's face. "Have a safe trip coming home."
Thrive brought that hand to his lips. "You as well." He pressed a soft kiss to Warren's knuckles and squeezed his fingers tight before turning on his heel, golden cape billowing behind him upon his departure.
Warren sighed dreamily and after a moment realized he was being stared at. He looked to his right, where the captain didn't bother hiding his judgmental expression as he waited by their gate.
"Yeah, that's right," Warren snapped. "I married the biggest smoke show of the Milky Way and Andromeda. Suck my dick."
The captain rolled his eyes. "Fifteen minutes, Mr. Cougar."
"…'Kay." Warren watched the old man shuffle through the airlock. "I should…probably apologize about that." He waited for a second, then hurried after him.
