HELP YOURE SO RIGHT THOUGH
In a fanfic I’d probably kms out of second hand embarrassment, and I’m so sorry to any fic writers who have done anything remotely like this that would’ve made me go “BSOSBSISN CRINGE HELP” when I read it
YALL WERE RIGHT
Fuck
Kacchan is so silly and girl boss it pains me to say Kacchan but he’s fucking Kacchan now idfk
I’m gonna be 100% honest with y’all, if I was reading bkdk fic and Bakugou referred to HIMSELF as ‘Kacchan Bakugou’ in a FIGHT????
I would probably put my phone down, gag, vomit, and continue reading because that is just… too much, too on the nose, it’s too cringe for me to handle. But I would still eat that shit UP
So.. for this to have happened in the ACTUAL MANGA? it’s quite something
#fine I’ll fucking call him Kacchan#but I’ll vomit while I do so just so y’all know#like i literally can’t say anything about being cringe in fanfic now. it just happened. I’m so done.#he’s fucking Kacchan atp idfc anymore#I HAVE LIKE THIS GENERAL AMERICAN EAST COAST ACCENT AND THROWING IN A ‘KACCHAN’ IN THE MIDDLE OF MY SENTENCE JUST FEELS LIKE THE BIGGEST-#CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY AND THE WORLD AS A WHOLE#IT DOESNT FIT#IT DOESNT WORK#IT MAKES ME SOUND LIKE THE WEEBEST OF ALL WEEBS TO LIVE#BUT WE’RE HERE NOW IG#WHERE KATSUKI FUCKING BAKUGOU REFERS TO HIMSELF AS KACCHAN#SO IG I HAVE TO REFER TO HIM AS KACCHAN#FUCK

I hear people are rustling about again saying that if Katsuki called Izuku "Deku," it would be a regression of character development.
Other people have talked about it before, but I'm here to remind you that 1. Katsuki has already called him "Deku" again, and 2. it is actually further proof of his development.
This isn't an "old habits die hard" situation -- we already got that in chapter 327 with "De-Izuku!" No, this is something else.
Why?
Because "Deku" is Izuku's hero name.
Chapter 345
Katsuki is communicating combat information here, so he addresses Izuku as a hero, as opposed to how he would address him in a personal context, and he still uses it when talking to Best Jeanist.
If anybody cares about being addressed properly by their hero name, it's Katsuki!
Chapter 319
He bristles at Yaoyorozu for calling him Bakugou-san during their mission to rescue Izuku.
Chapter 346
The first time Mirko calls him the wrong name, it's during the heat of battle, so he actually ignores it and answers her with the pertinent information.
Chapter 347
He only argues with her the second time she calls him by the wrong name when they are regrouping.
And, wait, okay, look, I actually want to point out something hilarious here--in the English release, they had Mirko calling him "Dynamight," dropping the Great Explosion Murder God part, but in Japanese she actually says Dainama (ダイナマ), not Dainamaito (ダイナマイト), both times.
Which means she shortens his hero name not just by ditching the grandiose title, but also by removing the All Might reference.
I like to think that is what he is most pissed off about LOL.
(Bonus: I highlighted in blue where he calls her ウサギやろー, usagi yarou, meaning "bunny bastard." The word "yarou" is typically an insult directed at men; the etymology itself is masculine. The official English release made this "bunny gal," I'm guessing to avoid readers walking away with the notion that Katsuki is confused about Mirko's gender or that he was insulting her gender. In reality, Katsuki is simply a progressively-minded foul-mouthed youth who does not discriminate between bastards!)
Anyway, see, we have already been shown how Katsuki refers to Izuku when he isn't communicating battle information.
Chapter 362
He uses Izuku's name out loud to himself as a personal aside right before his moment of heroism.
I think everybody is missing out on a much more delightful question. Katsuki has used Izuku's hero name, so are we ever going to get to see Izuku use Katsuki's?
And if he doesn't, if he just blurts out "Kacchan!" on the battlefield like the damn nerd he is, will Katsuki correct him?
I mean, we've never once seen him demand Izuku stop calling him by his childhood nickname, so is he just gonna let that one slide?
What a funny fucking exception that would be, huh?

Plus One For All
so guys. can we talk about how there’s somebody chilling out inside of Katsuki’s mind who’s not supposed to be there.
hello there Mister All Might Vestige sir. you should not exist, just FYI. you’re not some Nighteye-type plot hallucination. because if you were, you would not be appearing here as Cloud Might, a version of yourself whom Katsuki has never met and has no frame of reference for. ergo he did not imagine you. ergo you are, in fact, real.
which means Katsuki has One For All.
because that’s the only way he could have a Vestige -- which is indisputably what this is -- inside of him. he has OFA. so. where did he get it. how does he have it. and why is it only making its presence known now.
let’s discuss.
okay so I’m going to try and lay this all out as clearly as possible while also attempting to be as succinct as I can. but knowing me, I’m probably going to wind up sacrificing the latter in pursuit of the former. I’ll do my best though. here goes.
1. Heroes Rising is canon.
which is a fact we’ve recently been reminded of not once, but twice -- first with the appearance of Katsuma and Mahoro in chapter 405, and then in chapter 406 with the “Bakugou no Kacchan” callback. the timing of this almost certainly isn’t coincidental. Horikoshi wants this to be fresh in our minds.
mind you, it is extremely unusual for movies, even technically!canon ones, to actually be relevant to the plot. but BnHA may be one of the few exceptions. we’ve already seen movie 1 impact the series both with Star & Stripe’s backstory, and with Deku’s new gauntlets. so there’s precedent, and it’s something I am paying very close attention to.
2. Deku giving OFA to Bakugou is canon.
just in case anyone here hasn’t yet seen or been spoiled for Heroes Rising, that is in fact what happens in that film! so yeah, that certainly seems like an extremely relevant detail right about now.
3. we never found out why and how Deku got OFA back at the end of the movie.
okay so I was looking for a clip to link before we discuss this next part, but I unfortunately couldn’t find one that hadn’t been edited to avoid copyright issues, so you’ll just have to make do with this.
skip ahead to about 7:10 for the relevant part. for the purposes of this theory, we’re just going to ignore everything All Might says here, because tbh he has no fucking clue what’s actually going on and is just guessing wildly lol. however, I do want you to take note of one thing which will be important later. and that’s the fact that, when OFA “returns” to Deku’s body, it’s only his body which starts glowing, and notably not Kacchan’s. the latter just keeps lying there unglowingly. nothing to indicate any kind of transfer is actually happening between him and Deku, in other words.
moving on.
4. OFA and AFO are probably the same quirk.
as summarized here and here. which is relevant because if they are the same quirk, or close to it, then OFA can most likely do anything AFO can do. so file that away for later.
5. AFO was able to split his quirk and give it to Tomura while still keeping a piece of it for himself.
what’s more, he was able to do the same with Garaki/Ujiko’s quirk, and presumably other quirks as well. while it’s possible that this quirk duplication has nothing to do with AFO and is simply something Garaki was able to figure out using ~*~Science~*~, I think it’s more likely that the two of them used AFO’s quirk in some way to accomplish this feat. particularly since Tomura not only received AFO, but a bunch of its stored up quirkdata as well, such as the information stored in Ragdoll’s stolen Search quirk.
6. OFA responds to Deku’s feelings and desires.
or at least this is the case according to Banjou in chapter 213. recall this interesting conversation on how Deku first activated Blackwhip.
he was thinking that he wanted to capture Monoma, and so OFA obediently activated his “capture Monoma” quirk. despite him being unaware he even had said quirk. it responded to his need, even though he wasn’t consciously trying to activate anything.
now then, let’s revisit that scene in Heroes Rising one more time.
7. during the climax of Heroes Rising, Deku was NOT thinking, “I need to give OFA to Kacchan.”
here’s the scene one more time for reference. this time you’re gonna want to skip to about 3:57.
here’s where we are going to get extremely technical, because this scene right here is the key to everything. Deku’s lines in this scene are, and I quote: “a way we can protect [everyone]... there’s just one way...!” but he very notably does not specify exactly what that “one way” is.
until we get to this scene a minute or so later, which spells it out for us very clearly.
two One For Alls. as in, “with two One For Alls, we could win this battle and save everyone.”
that’s what he was thinking at the moment of the “transfer.” NOT, “give OFA to Kacchan.” but, “we need two One For Alls.”
which, I think, may have made all the difference.
8. OFA created a copy of itself to share with Kacchan, so that both of them could have OFA and use the two OFAs to defeat Nine.
let’s recap. OFA is AFO. AFO can clone itself. so it stands to reason that OFA can presumably clone itself as well. and that’s exactly what Deku wanted to do. make a second One For All.
he didn’t know that he could do that. but as previously established in the Blackwhip incident, OFA is more than capable of making its own executive decisions in key moments just like this in order to help him out.
which would mean that what we saw at the end of Heroes Rising was not OFA being transferred from Bakugou back over to Deku. it was actually just Deku’s OFA briefly self-activating (possibly in response to his delirious apology to All Might -- kind of a “no worries bro, you’ve still got your quirk actually, so go back to sleep and stop stressing over it” type of thing). and Kacchan’s OFA doing... absolutely nothing. it didn’t actually transfer back into Deku. it didn’t actually go anywhere.
let me repeat that: it didn’t actually go anywhere.
in other words, Kacchan still has OFA. and has had it ever since Heroes Rising. he just didn’t realize it. and neither did anybody else.
9. Kacchan’s OFA went dormant once Nine was defeated.
okay, so. remember all of this exposition from chapter 304?
basically, if someone who already has a quirk receives OFA, using it will slowly destroy their body until it kills them. the Vestiges learned this from All Might while he was researching the past generations of OFA in chapter 241, incidentally. Heroes Rising takes place right around this same time (immediately following MVA if I recall). so by the time the film’s climax rolled around, the Vestiges would have known that giving OFA to Kacchan could have devastating consequences down the line if they did not take action immediately after the fight.
so they did.
once Nine was defeated, the Vestiges shut the whole thing down. the crisis was averted, and they no longer had need of a second OFA. they have this boy who is way too similar to Deku in terms of his willingness to put himself in harm’s way in order to achieve his goals. and they absolutely do not want any harm befalling this boy. more on that momentarily.
so they go dark. and they even seal his memory so that he’s no longer aware of even having the quirk. they are essentially in sleep mode. and if circumstances hadn’t eventually become desperate enough to force their hand, they might have remained inactive for the rest of Katsuki’s life.
now, you might be wondering to yourself, “why is OFA willing to go to such unusual lengths in order to protect Katsuki?” and well, the answer to that is pretty simple.
10. Kacchan does not have the same version of OFA as Deku.
Deku is ninth gen. Katsuki, however, is tenth gen. which means that his version of OFA has one additional Vestige. a Vestige whose presence immediately explains why OFA is so goddamn determined to protect him at all costs.
:’)
long story short, while Deku’s version of OFA has proven itself all too willing to enable him in his increasingly suicidal mission, Katsuki’s version of OFA is very much a different story, on account of it being under the management of what I’m guessing is the most willful Vestige ever to exist. and said management being just the slightest bit unhinged when it comes to Katsuki’s safety in particular. seriously, you can’t tell me this is not exactly how a Deku!Vestige would behave. “oh hell no. no OFA for you!! and no memories either, because you can’t be trusted, goddammit. we never should have done this. what the hell were we thinking. if anything happens to him I will kill everyone in this room and then myself.”
so yeah. dormant.
right up until they literally couldn’t afford to be anymore.
11. OFA can self-activate in moments of crisis to protect its user.
Sports Festival. chapter 33. Deku vs. Shinsou.
aw yeah. it’s all coming together.
12. OFA reactivated itself in order to save Katsuki’s life.
I would now like to briefly draw your attention to this scene from chapter 405, in which Edgeshot explains how Katsuki was finally saved. please note my man is very clear that he did not restart Katsuki’s heart himself. he was basically just performing quirk CPR up until Katsuki’s own quirk returned him to life apropros of nothing.
“what brought you back... was the power you’ve honed.”
except... that should have been impossible. because Katsuki was dead. meaning he should not have been able to activate his quirk on his own, on account of the whole “being dead” thing.
however, if he by chance had a quirk with just enough of a mind of its own to activate in critical situations in order to help its user. situations like being forced under mind control. or, perhaps, being stabbed through the heart. well then. that would certainly go a long way towards explaining all of this.
and oh hey, when exactly was it that we saw this guy, again?
oh? it happened at the exact moment when his heart was stabbed through? you don’t say. well that certainly is interesting.
in summary:
Deku cloned his quirk in Heroes Rising and gave Kacchan a copy of OFA. owing to the hyperprotective Deku!Vestige inside Kacchan’s copy of OFA, it shut itself down once Nine was defeated, and all of Katsuki’s memories of having OFA were deliberately wiped, or sealed away. OFA itself remained inactive until TomurAFO stabbed Katsuki through the heart, at which point OFA was forced to reactivate itself to save his life. which it did, by forcibly restarting his heart.
that’s it. no idea how close to the money any of this is, but I think it would explain most of the lingering mysteries and questions about what exactly is going on with Katsuki. and I’ll throw in one last observation as well -- Katsuki has a nine in his name (BaKUgou), but not a ten. which I know sort of contradicts what I was saying earlier about him being the tenth gen, lol. but he both is and isn’t. if Deku split his quirk, Kacchan would in theory receive everything that’s currently in Deku’s quirk right now, and that includes Deku’s own power that he’s been adding to the mix. so he’d still have the Deku!Vestige. but he’s also still ninth gen, because he and Deku are sharing that distinction now. or at least I think the argument could be made at any rate.
so yeah. I’ve been obsessing over all of this for the past few days lol. what do you guys think?

Just read the chapter 368 leaks- and what the fuck Horikoshi. From what I read, apparently Izuku unlocks the last quirk and it’s something about speed/enhancement for like 5 minutes. But what’s more interesting is like, his heart’s gon explode? Horikoshi do you have something with breaking people hearts, first Bakugou, now Deku and at the same time us readers.
Scenes which may be clues that Deku’s fate will be the same as Bakugou’s bc of how similar they are to each other :
PS :
This is probably for chapter 369+, but idk so here what I think is going to happen. If Deku’s heart indeed explodes, I think he’s going to meet Bakugou, which will probably not be back to life yet. Since Katsuki was seen with All might’s vestige, then they’ll probably meet. I think it’s going to be so wholesome. The relief Deku would feel seeing 'his' kacchan is all right [ reference to the camp arc ] and Bakugou’s worry thinking that since he’s "dead" then Deku died too. I could imagine it as some sort of Bakugou yelling at him, asking him what happened and Deku just in tears while smiling. Ofc, they gon become pro heroes, so the people out there somehow save them. But there will probably have deaths, notably Mirio. He’s been playing quite a big part on this, it wouldn’t surprise me if Horikoshi was trying to make us built more emotional attachement to him, to then kill him off. It would also explain why Eri, in the volume where he saved her was hiding the last numbers in his costume. Not because he lost his quirk, but because he would die before actually saving someone else, of course his efforts would not be wasted, as in Bakugou and Deku would come back. He also may just be heavily injured, because if I remember correctly Sir nighteye saw a bright future for him, unless Deku somehow altered it, like he did in the overhaul arc. And if that happens he would probably end up blaming himself for it.

Ok so these shots.
Y'all have no idea how much they mean.
Bakugou's almost looking at him. Almost. Like in childhood, when they were rivals, but Bakugou still, after everything, saw him as a friend. Remember, the boys in middle school? They were there during Bakugou and Izuku's childhood scenes, but why did they only refer to Izuku as Bakugou's "childhood friend"? Because during childhood, things had not yet completely soured.
And then middle school. Aldera.
Things were horrible between them. He's no longer looking at Izuku, not even a bit. Because this is the bit he's sorry for the most. He's not able to match his gaze at all. And how will he?? He fucked up big time during that time period. He knows that. Bakugou is not an idiot. He knows he fucked up.
Also, notice how Izuku is always trying to look into his eyes? Because he's always admired him. He's always been looking at Bakugou. Looking up to him. Despite everything.
Also, see how blurry this shot is??
He's still not looking at him. Because he has not yet made up for things, to him Izuku was still Deku then. But he's realised, his expression's more sincere, and for the first time, both of them, are not alone. Bakugou, no matter how glorified his childhood and middle school was, did not have friends. He had people following him, but followers are not always friends. They were not his equals, they never tried to be. No, he was their somewhat leader, someone they didn't try to be friends of.
But at U.A., there are people, quite a few, who tried to be his equals. Who wanted to be his friends. Who wanted to have fun with him. People who would risk their lives to save him. From the LoV itself. Izuku would always be willing to do it, but he thought that was because Izuku was trying to prove how great he was. But other people? Kirishima, who he thought was his equal? Todoroki, who had such immense power that he knew it could greater than his? Iida, who would never break a rule? And Momo, the golden girl, who didn't have any kind of relation to him??
And he's finally looking at Izuku. Because now he can apologise. Because Izuku isn't someone who he looks down on. Izuku is his equal. And he can apologise. He's Izuku's childhood friend, and he acknowledges it now. He knows it is true, he has been running away from it. But he can face it now.
Bakugou Katsuki, was Midoriya Izuku's first friend, and is the person who knows him the best. And he now knows. He knows Izuku better than Izuku knows himself. Knows where he falters, and where he stands strong.
And he's not ashamed to put his pride down and apologise before everyone else, because all that he is sorry for now, has been done before everyone else too.
And look,
The shine in his eyes are back. Because Kacchan, his Kacchan is there. Before him. Apologising for what he's done.
And he's sorry too. He shouldn't have said that to them.
And you can't tell me, he absolutely did not go to hug him. He stumbled and fell, but he was caught by Kacchan. He was saved, by Kacchan.
And Bakugou knows he is sorry. Because he knows Izuku better than everyone else there. He knows him since they were babies, he has seen every bit of Izuku's life. He knows.
Bakugou Katsuki knows Midoriya Izuku.

Deku and Bakugou analysis,a bit of a KatsuDeku theroy post.
Warning!!! This thread is very long and has suggestice themes. Please proceed with caution.
"After that, he lit a fire under me like that"
That's way to sus.
One thing I've noticed too,Deku refers and reacts to Bakugou differently than big heros, even ones that he strongly admires, like, really admires, like all might.
Which makes me thinks..Is all the romantic-like shit done on purpose?
Stuff like this:
That first line translates into: The burning longing in my chest will not disappear.
Second line:I want it to change
He said he daydreams about him and Katsuki in some opening I don't remember.
Stars are VERY prominent with them to,after when Deku said that sus line,he looks up at a star, and saids,he wants it to change,ya know, there is also another song about Katsuki and Deku,Its Polaris. It being about Deku and Katsuki, makes a lot of sense.
Heres why;
"If I could go back and give up everything I had,I would never hide my scars for anything. No not for no one"
When Katsuki bullied Deku,he was scar-ed.
It makes sense. He regrets what he did to Deku. Hes trying to Atone. He absolutely hates what he did to Midoriya, and The line saying,"No,not for no one". It makes sense!
Katsuki hid his scars and tried to act like a big and tough boy, which in reality..
He was the weak one. That's canon, that was touched apond in the manga
---------------------------------------------------
"Say goodbye ,I don't have the strength to let it all end,I would give all and everything if we could mend,All I wanted was you to stay and not disappear,I've decided I will follow my heart,Promise yours will always be right near me.."
Makes a lot of sense. Let me explain,The "Say goodbye" line is a play on deku leaving U.A,and after that..Bakugou saids this,
"I don't have the strength to let it all end!"
Which is..f***ing heart breaking.. Alright let me bring this up,
---------------------------------------------------
Yes, Izuku's exhaustion and pain is the primary focus, but those tiny details imply that Katsuki Bakugou, the guy who has had a strict bedtime and diet his whole life, who puts every bit of effort into his own health, has completely disregarded his self-care to go after Izuku. Which also implies that his body didn't just move on its own when he risked his life for Izuku. It's further evidence that he isn't just trying to atone for his own sake. This guy straight up stopped taking care of himself because he was WORRIED for Izuku. He stopped sleeping in favor of searching. He reaggravated a very serious injury (one that he got already protecting Izuku) in order to protect him AGAIN.
Which..Makes sense... It shows more of a..Softer caring side of Bakugou. It explains it itself.
---------------------------------------------------
"I would give all and everything if we could mend,All I wanted was you to stay and not disappear,I've decided I will follow my heart,Promise yours will always be right near me.."
Wow. If this is Katsuki..Its makes a lot of sense.. He would give..A lot for him and dekus friendship to be better again. That's why he did the training with him.
He would do anything to make the connection with him and deku because..He,wants to mend with Midoriya. Repair the friendship..
But what is really interesting and important is,that,He said "I've decided I will follow my heart, promise yours will also be right near me!" Which means,it wasn't just not his mortal compass..It was also where his,Heart was leading him too..
Which means,Bakugou doesn't just want to mend things for sake of mortality and heroism, but also,it's because..He feels that he should. And I would say he feeling like he should do this because he feels bad for deku,BUT,he said he wants deku heart to stay near his..which means:
"Close to your heart" is an English idiom describing something or someone dearly loved. It can be used to describe anything that has earned a great deal of affection from a person, often through familiarity with it over time. The meaning of this phrase comes from the fact that the heart is considered the organ of the human body that is the source of all love and affection. As such, anyone or anything that resides close to it will be on the receiving end of those feelings."
❗❗❗❗❗
OHHHHHH----- KATSUKI---
It could be platonic-- but...he wants..There..Hearts to be close?? That's oddly specify..He could just say he want them to be close..The thing is,he didn't even have too say anything about hearts..Hearts are symbolized as,a love thing.
--------------------------------------------------
❗❗❗❗
You're probably asking "Why does this matter???" Well..Ummm..Look at the background. There bubbles, the trope which is used is called love bubbles.
A romantic moment in anime is often accompanied by a pastel background with lots of bubbles. Nobody knows who wanders into all these series with an invisible bubble machine, but maybe they should stop before they get soap in somebody's eye...
Is..Is he blushing..? That explains the bubble and sparkles..
--------------------------------------------------
HuH..???? HOW-
Look I don't know what to tell you.
But if that's not romantic, then I don't know what it is.
----------------------------------------
Peace sign is confirmed to be a bakugou and deku song. He calls this story,MY HERO ACADEMIA,"OUR STORY"...huh..Remember the song "Datte atashi no Hero?" He also called bakugou his hero. Let that sink in.
--------------------------------------------------
Remember shout baby...? Heres more crap to make Bakudeku romantic.
Let's go over that one line again..
Can't sugar code it. Nope. That's romantic in nature. Unless deku has fucking heart problems, this is romantic. No doubt on my end.
Heres something that just plain romantic.
"It’s frustrating that this unusual scent of hair made my heart flutter. So I hid my lips that’s forming a smile under my scarf.."
Wow... This sounds like Bakugou.
Let me explain why it does sounds like Bakugou. Frustration. About something small as that seems like him. It sounds like him too. And also,Bakugou rarely smiles.. I wonder what they where doing which made his heart flutter.
And why it's romantic..? Hear the way that's worded. The person hide the lips after their heart flutters.
--------------------------------------------------
Alright let's go here. This is a song that supposedly between Bakugou and Deku.
youtube
Let's see it here,
❗❗❗❗❗
And the kanji used for this song is not helping.
They use the words like "Suki" Suki is only plantoic when revfiring to non humans. Deku uses it to Katsuki at the end of the song in another translation like this,
Suki da suki da suki da suki da
Context clue:
Suki da,
好すだよ。
Suki da yo.
I like you.
This phrase is commonly used in everyday life. It reveals to the interlocutor that you have feelings for him. It is up to him to interpret the strength of your love.
To avoid misunderstandings, do not tell people with whom you have friendly relations. I already imagine your Japanese friends feeling uncomfortable because they think you are trying to get out of the friend-zone.
Kimi ga daisuki da yo.
大だい好すだ。
Daisuki da.
I really like you.
Daisuki implies that you are a big fan of something when you talk about an object, food or a sports team. This is also the case when you talk about an artist, an athlete or some other famous personality.
But when you say that to someone, it implies that you have strong feelings for that person. These feelings must be beyond normal friendship.
........
*Sigh*
Here's more of the song
"Update! I want to fly, to fly, just to fly so far away, away from here. It can’t be anybody else, I don’t want anybody else. Because I don’t want to regret, I’ve got to say it now,I love, I love, I love, I love,I love being here with you."
The more I read into it. The more the song sounds like Katsuki. And it make sense if somewhat of update is sang by Katsuki.
Think about it. The song said this,
"It's not what you do,or what you say,it who you're with."
And if you think about, someone of these song lyrics sound like Katsuki himself.
This song is blunt. Blunter, then fuck, and you know who's blunt..?
Katsuki.
I'm not saying he sang all of it.. No. Update actually in the outro points about Deku and makes him the main focus. But,these lines make more sense for Bakugou then Deku,
"If you are, you are, you are, you are,If you are with me,Not back, not down, but the reason I was able to see the front only was,You were here"
Those lines make more sense for s5 bakugou and up,then s3 deku. Let me explain why. "The only reason I was able to see the front is because you where here" remember the apology..? If you don't it's chapter 322
Also for a second, let pay attention to this
It can’t be anybody else, I don’t want anybody else.
That's literally at least saying that Katsuki is VERY special to deku. And the context for this is that, who he'd run away with. It's basically saying he'd spend his life with Katsuki away from everybody else..and he would be..Fine..?
That really saying something about his favoritism to Katsuki-
----------•-----------•-----------•-------------•
SEE WHATS WRONG...? If ya don't then,here;
It's really just explains itself,Katsuki and Deku are the only ones here.

ok, BKDK scenario (directly referring back to my thoughts on BKDK not getting a proper convo before this war kicks off) :
SO WHAT IF, they do *almost* have a really proper conversation before the War? Maybe like the one night they have in Troy, getting settled in before initiating their plan that we see in 343.
And I say ALMOST, because, Izuku goes to Bakugou, or vice versa, wanting to solidify things between them; maybe Izuku wants to thank Bakugou for saving him as well, or directly address that apology...
But they kind of, in a pretty mutual way, agree that while they still have a lot to say to each other, that they wait.
They wait until after AFO is defeated, the war is over.
In Katsuki's mind, this is a way to ensure that they both come out of this alive. It's their promise to one another, especially to give IZUKU a reason to come out of it alive (since Katsuki is explicitly scared of Izuku losing himself and throwing himself away to save the day)
Izuku has started to understand and grasp that that is something he needs to keep in mind going forward(the letting others help him, to not sacrifice himself so much, etc.)
And Izuku himself? Is honestly just still scared to rely on his feelings for Katsuki, so he promises himself that if they both survive this, he will open up. Once AFO is defeated, he can focus on what is going on in his head and heart.
Scenario where they both decide to, in Uraraka's words, "put a lid on these feelings" until the job is done, the war is won, and they can both be open with each other.
It's their pact with each other to BOTH survive and win the war. So they CAN have that conversation with each other.
....That's not to say, however, that in the heat of battle and things inevitably going sideways, or one almost losing the other, that things won't....SLIP OUT. like, an inner monologue about how "I know we promised to talk after the war, but...I can't not tell you"/"I have to tell you this now"
I mean, Izuku's still got another Quirk to unlock and Katsuki IS his usual trigger after all....as we all know and theorize, something dramatic may yet happen between them.
And then after the battle, and when we're getting all the wrapping-up scenes, Katsuki and Izuku finally talk. About everything. Maybe quietly looking out over the city as it's rebuilt.
Maybe Izuku is now Quirkless, assuming OFA leaves once its purpose is fulfilled?
Katsuki telling him "When we graduate, I want you to be my Hero Partner."
Izuku looking at him sadly, "But Kacchan, I don't have a Quirk anymore, how can I...?"
Katsuki grabbing him by the shoulder, and staring him right in the eyes. "It's not about Quirks. You're still a hero, the best, and I'm only gonna take the best when I have an agency."
"Kacchan,"
Katsuki moves a hand to Izuku's cheek/jawline, a surprisingly gentle move, "And... Fuck it, you're my hero. I wouldn't accept anyone else as my partner, Izuku."
AND BOOM they live happily ever after in whatever society they build back up.
It's Sappy but its cute so I don't care lmao. (anyway I'd lose my mind if Katsuki EVER calls Izuku HIS HERO.)
Happy late Valentines day btw lol
#I at least want the hero partner convo to happen#bc talk about full circle#he starts story telling Izu that he could never be a hero#to specifically wanting even a QUIRKLESS izu to be his hero partner#like CHEFS KISS#calling izu his hero would be icing on that cake#until I am proven otherwise this is why we havent seen them talk yep yep#bakudeku#bkdk#decchan#chapter 343#bnha spoilers#spoilers#happy late valentines

"Great Explosion Murder God, DynaMight" - a confession?
I have to ask the question, how is this written in Japanese? How is Great Explosion Murder God written in Japanese?
Now first lets go back to his original choice for hero names: Lord Explosion Murder, King Explosion Murder and Explosion Murder.
What was lost in translation are that these are a play on his name Bakugou(Kacchan is a nerd, fight me). All three names sound like Bakugou Katsuki or twisted funny versions of it, which reads as BakuhatsuSatsujin or the other one Bakugutsuou. Basically his naming sense is based off puns from "Bakugou".
So going back to the original question, how is "Great Explosion Murder God" written? Surely it would follow his naming sense to play off his name like his previous choices, and it could.
So i thought why not 爆王 主キ which reads as Baku-Ou 'Su-Ki?
Baku - Explosion/Bomb - 爆
Ou - King/Lord/Great Person - 王
Su - God - 主
Ki - Kill - short for キル(kiru), (yes japanese people use the english sounding words like for ticket which basically reads as chikketto. That just how it be)
Now don't say it can't be Bakuou Sukiru, because its already been released as "Great Explosion Murder God", because things CAN get lost in translation and sometimes the translator just has to choose which sound better. I've seen early translations of the name to instead be "God of Explodokills, Dynamaito" so literally it could have been up to the translator how to translate it into English
Now for why I like Bakuou Suki.
It basically comes down to that It's pretty much his name, and doesn't that fit with all the other names so far? Horikoshi is so damn deep with the puns.
Plus "Bakuou" can also mean Bomb King or Bomber King, a reference to Bomberman, a game i used to play on Gameboy Advance way back then. A very very popular Nintendo game.
Like excuse you, tell me Horikoshi would not.
As for the second part of "Bakuou Suki" is the "suki". Now I'm sure we've all read enough manga to know that suki directly translated means "like", but in japan it has been more recently been used to mean "love".
Therefore "(Great Explosion Murder God, Dynamight)Bakuou Suki, Dynamight" can also have the double meaning of "BomberKing Love, DynaMight".
Which could also be read as Great Explosive Love! (Or Bomber King's Love)
And who the fuck was Bakugou rushing to after which screaming this embarrassing pun filled name of "Great Explosive Love, Dynamite"?
Fucking Deku, that's who.
The Deku who Bakugou had a power up over while he had a montage over of their moments together. Bakugou powered up with the power of love!
Boss, tell me its ain't love and I'll smack you some sense.
The announcement of his "Hero Name" was cathartic because it was also an announcement of his own feelings. He was finally saying things out loud.
It was a confession to Deku. No one else might have understood, but even just admitting this to himself was a big step, saying it out loud an even bigger step.
(However you might ask where's the Kat is in Bakuou Suki. Well, in Japan or the general east the ship name for BakuDeku is more well known as KatDeku. Kacchan would also be written more as Kat-chan. The Kat is Katsuki from "Bakuou 'Suki" is reserved away only for Kat-chan, for Deku only).
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
👏👏👏I've cracked the code, lads! 👏👏👏
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
This has been a BakuDeku Public Service Announcement.
Thank you for your time.

HEY ASH I CAME WITH THE FOOD Please give us wholesome tattoo artist Deku/feral flower shop owner Bakugou AU please please please your ideas are so good
YAYYY- you submitted a post pft but that's fine, this actually works pretty well
but wholesome goth boy x feral flower boy YES YES YES I LOVE THIS ALREADY, AU UNDER THE CUT
let's start off with izuku.
he owns a small (but very well known) tattoo parlor in the city he lives in. he majored in art in college and has been doodling since he was in middle school so he has notebooks just calk full of designs and sketches for tattoos that he tears pages from to put up around the shop.
the only design he doesn't have just aimlessly floating around is this one that's extremely important to him since he won an art contest with it in his freshman year of high school (it started him on his path to being an artist) and it's framed and hung on the wall behind the counter
the said design was a sort of couples pairing (meant to be put on the insides of one's wrist and a bit of their forearm and when two people pressed their wrists together side by side it would match up. it could be described as a very intricate and detailed drawing of two roses that branch off the same steam in the middle of the tattoo, and the steam wrapped around the two roses in a spiral that was covered with thorns and leaves but it never touched the two roses.
anyways, izuku never did that design on anyone no matter how many couples that'd ask if he'd do it. it was just his own sort of personal thing, and he was saving it to do it on himself and his soulmate (if he ever found them)
so that's that, people would come and they could choose any other of his original designs around the shop (or bring in their own) and he'd happily give it to them. though he dressed in dark clothes and had dozens of tattoos, making him look like a bit of a tough/mean person, he was actually one of the nicest shop owners in town. everyone was always so surprised when they heard him start rambling on about his designs then get embarrassed as he caught himself doing so, honestly, it was adorable and everyone thought so.
now, on to katsuki.
katsuki runs a flower shop right across the street from Izuku, he opened only a month ago (bc he just moved here) and it was already starting to get popular.
now, Katsuki wasn't exactly a k i n d shop owner. he wore soft pastel colors a lot but he was big and muscly and had clear tattoos on his neck and upper arms which made him look like a sort of- soft thug? but he was very much feral. he'd call his customers extras and often give regulars nicknames. such as one girl he nicknamed 'bubble gum' because she wore a lot of pink and had pink hair, she'd come to buy flowers for their girlfriend often.
even though he's mean, god does he have the most beautiful arrangements of flowers. so the people that live in the city look past all his grumpiness (some even find it kinda charming and manage to get to know him a bit better.)
plus, there's one specific thing that he has that almost no other plain flower shop sells. black roses.
no one exactly knows how he always gets his hands on them, due to the price and rarity, but he always somehow has a few carefully placed black as night roses in a vase on the counter.
how did the two meet/get together?
well, remember those black roses? a certain perky little goth boy happens to absolutely adore them. honestly he really just loves roses but the black ones draw him in due to them being well, goth.
so, izuku skips over to katsuki's shop every week or so and his visits are always in the morning right when the shop opens so izuku can open his right after. since he visits in the morning, he always has to deal with an even more grumpy morning katsuki, but he doesn't mind at all. he comes in, perky as ever, and cheerfully hops to the counter to order the same thing each time.
"One black rose please, Baka- Baku.. Kat-katchu- uh.. oh lord I'm so sorry, uhm.. oh! How bout Kacchan? Yeah! One black rose please, Kacchan!"
"...'Kacchan'?! Really?! Who the fuck do you think you are?!"
"I'm Midoriya! Izuku Midoriya, Heh!"
"If that's spelled how I'd guess it is, wouldn't it be kinda similar to 'useless'?"
"I uh- uhm, I suppose so..?"
"Let's see here.. useless little goth boy... hm..."
"Wha-"
"Oh I know. Deku."
"D-deku? You're really gonna call me that?"
"Yeah. Gotta problem with it, nerd?!"
"No!- No... I guess not-"
"Good, now take your rose and leave."
"A-alright... thanks... Kacchan!"
and that's that. izuku learns to get used to katsuki's teasing and nicknames, and katsuki decides to just ignore the fact that he's being called 'kacchan', such a petname like nickname, by a complete stranger
at one point, katsuki asked why izuku always came to get a new black rose every week and izuku simply gave an embarrassed laugh and explained that:
"well... i uh just really like these..! they're so pretty don't you think? plus I put the one I get every week into a vase of water and use it as a uh reference for tattoos..."
"and you need a new one every damn week?!"
"ahaha- well- i'm uh... not the best at flower keeping... plus they're much prettier fresh, you know?"
katsuki rolled his eyes at the explanation, truth be told izuku just didn't want to admit he wanted an excuse to come see the blond every week. though izuku wasn't alone, katsuki didn't say anything else because HE honestly also enjoyed the greenette coming to his shop
anyways I'm getting way too invested in this so let's wrap it up
katsuki and izuku get to know each other a bit better as they go to each other's shops. one time katsuki went to izuku's shop to get a back tattoo (that took fucking hours) so they had PLENTY of time to have an actual conversation for once and they actually had some pretty deep ones, it ended with katsuki begrudgingly pointing out the framed tattoo design, commenting on how pretty and detailed it was. of course, izuku went on a small flustered ramble about it before getting stopped by katsuki laughing and telling him to "calm down there, pretty boy." honestly just making izuku more flustered with katsuki finding it amusing as fuck. he ended up scribbling down his number quickly on a stray piece of paper to hand to izuku before heading out the shop with his classic smirk.
and shit happened yada yada yada got to know each other a bit more through text and izuku ended up asking katsuki out on a date at one point. so katsuki showed up at izuku apartment on the night of the date with a whole bouquet of black roses for his goth boy.
they decided to try a relationship and it ended up getting pretty serious. one day izuku dragged his boyfriend over to his shop and forced him to sit down so he could start working on getting his important design onto the two of them.
"Wait- really?! With me?! You sure, Deku..?"
"Yes, I'm sure. Now shut up and stay still so I can do this right, dummy-"
and that's where i'm ending it all so I don't kill you guys with reading PFT (I could go so much more in-depth tho)

A post for some BAMF Izuku fics <3 (more of these will be added and the list will be updated as i read them)
Fics i've read:
The Secret Ingredient is Crime- Izuku only had a whole month to further prove himself worthy of Yuuei's golden acceptance, and he was going to do whatever it took to make it in. Yuuei would never truly know what hit them until it was too late. (The secret crime AU in it entirety is fucking amazing and what wouldn't i give to read more stuff with it)
Deku the Villain Hunter: Support Hero - We all know the story: After being told he couldn't be a Hero by All Might, Midoriya Izuku still wandered over to a supervillain attack where he could save Bakugou Katsuki. But what if he had made the other turn? The answer is a butterfly effect that would lead him on a path to paving his own future. A path of revenge, finding his own moral compass, and doing the impossible. (OKAY MANY THOUGHTS. Very cool story and aspects. I binged it overnight and lost a bit of sleep the next night as well.)
The Story of How Midoriya Izuku Asserted His Dominance (And Traumatized Japan) - The Sports Festival was supposed to be a break from stress. Shouta should have known there is no such thing as a break with his class.
making it right (for real this time) - - Izuku is a support course student at UA, and Katsuki's neighbor, best friend, and former bullying victim. After Izuku's performance at the sports festival, Katsuki realizes something. He has to make things right. -
Hero Fall (UA Civil War Exercise) - It's now the end of the first year of UA for our students. Nedzu had decided to bring back the annual Heroes vs Villain fight. The fight shall last 5 days and the villain leader is Izuku Midoriya, with the commanding officer of the hero team being Katsuki Bakugo. But, what happens when Izuku is left alone?
Hero Class Civil Warfare - Heroes lead by Bakugo. Villains lead by Midoriya. Seven days prep time. Three days for Izuku Midoriya to show why they should be glad he's not a real villain.
"I Didn't Know You Had It In You." - Midoriya goes feral rage mode in his fight against Overhaul. The beat down still happens, but with Eri no longer at his back, he gets more violent. One For All reacts in an interesting way and Midoriya commits a terrible and unheroic act - the cold blooded murder and maiming of Chisaki Kai. Shigaraki is there to watch it all unfold.
Plan C meets Plan A - Even if All Might is right and Izuku can't be a hero, Izuku refuses to be useless. So Izuku uses his analysis skills to develop Plan C: Consulting in order to help the heroes. Eraserhead is impressed by this mysterious new consultant but alarm bells in Deku's behaviour quickly have Aizawa recruiting help for Plan A: Adoption.
Q. A. B. - One month after @hawks_unofficial's initial viral post, the blog titled "Quirk Analysis Blog for the Future", otherwise known as "Q. A. B.", has gone from an average of 10 views per post to an average of 20,000 views per post. Midoriya Izuku does not know how to view the impressions analysis for his suddenly popular blog, and only notices that sometimes, people actually comment on his posts now. He does not google himself or his moniker and thus does not see the rise in online articles and speculation. He is unaware that the "kyuu-ei-bee" he begins to hear about in passing refers to his own blog. He does not have a Twitter account. At the time, Midoriya Izuku is 15 years old.
How to murder your father - It's dangerous to be a bad father when you have a life insurance. Just saying.
Negation - Passive Quirks are a bitch. Izuku is reasonably done with the situation.
Thanks For Your Support - Izuku has the talent and the intellect to be the first Quirkless pro hero, and everyone at UA knows it. Unfortunately, his desire to become a hero has long since been buried thanks to the words of his childhood friend and childhood hero.
Policed To Meet You - Izuku takes All Might's advice and becomes a cop.
Vigilante Work And Other After School Activities - Izuku is a vigilante, Aizawa likes cats and therefore kids who help cats, and sometimes breaks must be forced upon overachieving teenagers.
When the Commission Lost Total Control - The hero polls have a small part where one can suggest their own hero. This is done just because of the amount of heroes is to great to name them all. This creates a little problem for the commission because a vigilante is assumed to be a brand new hero by the public- and ranks pretty high. Because of that, this vigilante now is too popular to hide and they can't come out with their mistake either! Think of the chaos that would bring.
Izuku being Badass but like in not that grand of a way but still tearing-people-down-in-some-way kind of way
He Was Quirkless - Midoriya get's sick of discrimination against the quirkless and decides to do something about it. It leads to some interesting situations. A trilogy.
bloody, but unbowed- It's Advocacy Week for Yuuei's hero students and it gives Midoriya Izuku a lot to think about about what kind of hero he wants Deku to be.
Called Out - When Izuku is hit by a quirk that will cause him to call out the first person to be rude to him on the way to school with every mistake they've made in the affected persons presence or have otherwise effected said affected person, Aizawa is in for a rough ride. In other words, with some help from a quirk, Izuku rakes Aizawa over the hot coals until he gives out. (a great fic but i've got mixed feelings on this one because on one hand, izuku is badass but on the other its Aizawa bashing and really like him skhdskdb so yea! Read it as per your tastes!!)
The time when everyone learned that izuku respects Bakugo more than all might. - I didn't like how Bakugo was tied up during the sports festival and so izuku didn't. Badass izuku roasted all might and midnight.
Villainous Sunshine - After an innocent question, Class 1-A learns just how terrifying Izuku's analysis is. Nedzu's along for the ride.
Never understand ( and you can't ) - Midoriya is sick and tried of his classmates bias and prejudice against the quirkless community and finally breaks
Mastermind: Strategist For Hire - Izuku Midoriya never got the chance to save Bakugo from the sludge villain and impress All Might. With his dream crushed, Izuku becomes bitter and angry. It also doesn't help that he faces discrimination at every turn. All he ever wanted was to be appreciated, so when the villains are the ones to recognize his talents rather than the heroes, well, Izuku just can't resist. He might as well help those who actually want him around. Mistakes were made, and now society must face a villain of their own making: Mastermind.
Malignance - Deku is far scarier than anyone gives him credit for.
Fics in my to read list which has/probably has BAMF izuku
Young Midoriya - Izuku Midoriya couldn't help himself when he saw someone in trouble. Even at 12 years old, his instincts drive him to help those in need. So when he sees Kacchan and his goons about to ambush another student, he has to step in, right? It's not like this hasn't happened before. What is different this time though, is that he's never had an audience that consisted of the Number One Hero.
Heroics and Other Things That Don't Require Superpowers - Izuku doesn't have a quirk. That's the long and short of it. After being told his whole life he can't be a hero, General Education at UA is the best he can hope for, right? Wrong. Dead Wrong. So super wrong that his best friend from Gen Ed, all of Class 1A and a whole mess of Pro Heroes are going to prove to him how wrong he is. Izuku has the makings of a hero, and his lack of a quirk only throws those qualities into starker relief. After all, who wants to be as strong as All Might when you can be the cleverest hero in the business?
Cases of More Than - Izuku is known as Deku online. He's an analyst of quirks, sometimes even working with the local detective, Tsukauchi, on a case. He meets new friends, builds a few relationships, and slowly crushes on his best friend. But then he's thrown into the General Studies Course at U.A. It doesn't help that All for One is showing an interest in him at all.
No Regret - In this world there is no hard set villain or hero. No victim and aggressor. Everyone is at fault for something and Izuku, with his own villain group, will make everyone pay. Even the bystanders who did nothing. This is what society gets for abandoning it's people. Deku will manipulate everyone and be the greatest villain, all so the world can be a better a place. With the stakes so high there is no time for regret.
We Are a Different Kind - Mirio doesn’t think he can be a hero anymore now that he’s quirkless, Izuku calls bullshit.
Live a Hero - "You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain." Or, you're raised a villain, rebel when you're nine, and fight against the odds to become a hero anyway. That's how it is in Izuku's case.
Prodigal - After being convinced to give One for All to Mirio, Midoriya Izuku must rebuild his shattered dreams with bloody hands.
Two Sides of the Same Coin: Vigilante - Izuku is orphaned at the age of four and is sent into the Japanese Foster Care System. After multiple failed attempts at finding a forever home and some unfortunate circumstance, he ends up on the streets. Eventually, the vigilante, Deku appears. Eraserhead must gain his trust to bring Deku back to the right side of the law. If he he does, however, the untrustful but pure-hearted boy may just be a bit more than Aizawa Shota can handle.
From Muddy Waters - - but the sleeve of his tracksuit was bulging, tearing and ripping and a mass of twisted flesh, nearly as big as the boy himself and nauseatingly familiar (the arm of the man that had torn a hole in his side with a grin and left him a frail shadow of himself) swung forward and slammed into the flat face of the giant robot. Izuku wants to be a hero more than anything.
Pieces are easily sacrificed when they're nameless - Nobody ever thought quirkless, weak, weird Midoriya Izuku was dangerous. This perception carried over to his first year high school class, because really despite the super strength Midoriya didn't have it in him to be dangerous. That was their first mistake. And the one that would see them fall.
Not exactly BAMF izuku but i just wanted to rec these fics <3
In the shade of a sunflower - Being biologically quirkless came more with an extra pinkie joint in the toes and a stunning lack of vestiges mutations. It came with smaller things, like extra teeth that did virtually nothing, exploding organs, and weird exposed nerves that weren't designed to feel pain.
Throat Punch - In which Aizawa attempts to teach Izuku how to use various battle tactics and it goes just about as well as you'd expect. At least Shinsou is there with his fantastic commentary. (just a fun lil thing where izuku is really stronk and trains with shinsou and aizawa)
So Be It - He could still do good. Midoriya could show them all what a hero without powers looked like. If he had to break a few rules to do it, so be it. So be it… (as stated not exactly BAMF but its a vigilante izuku so ye-)
Never Enter a Drinking Game with Bakugo or Izuku - Izuku walks in on Kirishima and Kaminari having a drinking competition (no alcohol involved). And it reminds him of an old story.
5 Times Midoriya Taught Class 1A about Memes and 1 Time they Found a Villain that Understood Them - After being diagnosed as quirkless, Midoriya gets into pre-guirk media and finds memes. He shares them with Class 1A. Aizawa doesn't get paid enough for this. (THIS FIC???? FUCKING AWESOME. LITERALLY WHAT I WANTED TO SEE)
Midoriya: JD Version - Nedzu has decided that a play should be put on so that the students can learn how to "go undercover", an idea which Aizawa thinks is utter bullshit. They're putting on Heathers and when Nedzu chooses to cast Midoriya for JD, everyone objects. Midoriya is a much better actor than they thought.
that is a lot!! I hope you have fun reading it!!!

BnHA Chapter 285: You Looked Like You Needed Saving
Previously on BnHA: Deku was all, “hey guys I’m just gonna fight Tomura one on one and risk my own life rather than risk letting him do the whole Destroying Everything bit again.” Kacchan was all “WAIT NO ARE YOU SERIOUS THAT’S THE EXACT THING I HATE THE MOST” and indignantly launched into his “P.S. I CARE ABOUT DEKU” flashback, which was a revelation in that it proved exactly what Bakugou fans have been saying this whole time, AND YET OUR MINDS WERE STILL BLOWN ANYWAY, BECAUSE HOLY SHIT, HE REALLY WENT AND SAID IT OUT LOUD THOUGH. Anyway, so Deku’s strategy for defeating Tomura is to, you guessed it, break his fucking arms again; and meanwhile a frantic Katsuki is gearing up on the sidelines to do something really awesome and incredibly stupid, probably; and all in all it’s a pretty terrible situation our boys have found themselves in. Terrible for them, but GREAT for me, and I’ve never been so hyped in my life omg.
Today on BnHA: Deku breaks both of his arms like a dozen times over. Like, just pages and pages of arm breaking. Just like in the good old days! Meanwhile Kacchan is all “jesus christ, okay you know what would be a better idea, JUST SETTING HIM ON FIRE AGAIN”, and so he grabs Shouto and Endeavor, and they do a whole Prominence Burn combo thing. The AFO-inside-of-Tomura is all “‘sup it’s me again, but seriously now would be a REALLY good time to let me take over your body”, and so Tomura TOTALLY DOES LET HIM TAKE OVER, WHOOP, and so AFO is all “HELLS YEAH.” And then he STRAIGHT UP STABS MY SON, WHOSE BODY WAS SIMPLY MOVING ON ITS OWN, YOU KNOW, JUST HERO THINGS. Anyway so now Kacchan is fucking dead*, and so if I were AFO I would start putting as much distance as possible between myself and Deku right the fuck now, because boy, IF YOU THOUGHT HE WAS MAD BEFORE? Holy shit. We’re about to see a whole new level aren’t we.
LOL WE’RE OFF TO A GRAND OLD START
Deku’s arms should sue for legal emancipation. I think most of us can agree that they’re probably better off without him. sure they’ll have to buy their own food and stuff, but I think the trade-off is more than fair
oh wow that 100% shit really is something though
too bad it did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!! spoiler alert. I don’t even have to scroll to the next page, Deku. we already know
OH MY GOD ARE YOU SERIOUS
did Deku really pull off some “three hits in one” bullshit, or is this a mistranslation referring to the fact that Deku’s already hit him twice with his left arm, and so this is now the third 100% hit. kinda hoping for the latter, ngl. either way though, I’m really getting a “Deku’s arms are legitimately done for” vibe from this
ESPECIALLY SINCE:
DEKU YOU SHRUB!!! WAS IT WORTH IT YOU EGG FDKF KKDJ YOU DON’T GET BONUS POINTS FOR BREAKING THEM TWICE
goddammit I’m pretty sure he just Detroit Smashed the last remaining hero brain cell. now they have diddly squat to work with, oh this is bad
...
do you guys remember a few weeks back when I was joking about him breaking the rest of his bones and using Blackwhip to move his shattered body around like a grotesque marionette. do you specifically remember the part where that was a joke
holy shit Deku. it’s like we’re all the way back to square one with you. wasn’t that like the first thing Aizawa taught you, not to break your whole body apart? how are you supposed to fight Tomura if you can’t move?? why didn’t you wait for one of your pals who could hit him with an attack from long range WITHOUT BREAKING EVERY SINGLE BONE IN THEIR BODIES. WHERE DID YOUR BIG HERO BRAIN GO
boy you better pray one of those remaining quirks is a healing factor, or else you’re gonna be on IR for a LONG time. anyway. idk why I’m getting so worked up when I already knew this was going to happen lol. it’s just like Katsuki said; he takes himself out of the equation. it’s worth sacrificing his own body if it means he can take out AFO and prevent Tomura from hurting anyone else again. it’s just that... well. you know that saying about taking calculated risks when you are bad at math?
GUH I REALLY HATE THAT TOMURA IS STILL COMPLETELY FINE KSKWOILWKKJ AT LEAST PRETEND TO BE A LITTLE HURT, WOULD YOU
please ignore all of those worried-sounding thoughts; I think we all know that’s a bunch of bullshit. completely and utterly fine. the only person Deku’s attacks hurt was himself. hip hip hooray
anyway. so now, this!
pretty sure he can’t use Decay or AFO without at least touching SOMETHING, so I’m guessing this is another one of his new quirks. dammit Tomura why are you so fucking invincible
HAHAHA MEANWHILE
if I were you, Deku’s Arms, I would simply detach from his body altogether at this point. cut my losses. mmm
OOF HE HIT HIM WITH THE WHOLE OF TEXAS
spoiler alert: again, it did nothing. SORRY TO KEEP RUINING THE SUSPENSE FOR YOU GUYS. is there a single human being reading this who thought for even for the milliest of seconds that this stood a chance of working though
OH MY GOD
DEKU GET IT TOGETHER YOU’RE STARTING TO LOOK LIKE THE ENIGMA OF AMIGARA FAULT AND I CAN’T STAND THIS ACTUALLY
so Tomura is all “there must be something I can do to stop this fucking kid” and shuffling through his quirk pokedex while he’s tossed around bleeding in the air
hey Tomura I’ll tell you right now that you don’t actually need to do a damn thing except not die for roughly the next thirty seconds or so, and then you’ve got this. the quirk that can stop this kid is called “One for All”, and it just so happens he’s already got you covered bruh
and Katsuki’s realized the same thing, apparently!
SHOUTO YOU’RE NOT EVEN LOOKING?? wow that is some trust right there. focused on cauterizing Gran and Aizawa’s wounds, I guess
MEANWHILE KATSUKI IS PULLING OUT ALL THE STOPS. HE FOUND A NEW BRAIN CELL! A WHOLE DAMN CACHE OF FRESH NEW BRAIN CELLS, LOOK AT THIS
THANKS FOR THAT, PROFESSOR
OH SHIT SON ARE WE MOUNTING A COUNTERATTACK?
I like how Endeavor is just SITTING THERE in the background looking all disgruntled. yes, sorry about that sir, this is now Kacchan’s show. he’s in charge now. time for that long-range attack I was complaining about them not doing earlier?? hopefully?? omg
OH MY GOD YOU GUYS IT’S A BAKUROKI TRIPLE COMBO?!?!
ARE YOU GOING TO YEET THEM A LA GANG ORCA?? ALSO OH MY GOD, HE REALLY IS IN CHARGE. FIRST DEKU TOOK OVER FOR TWO MINUTES UNTIL HE BROKE ALL HIS BONES, AND NOW IT’S KACCHAN’S TIME. I’M SO PROUD OF YOU KIDS
LOL SHOUTO’S GETTING IN ON THIS TOO
THIS JUST IN, THE KIDS HAVE TAKEN OVER THE MANGA, ADULTS OF BNHA IN SHAMBLES
WELL MAYBE NEXT TIME DON’T LET AIZAWA GET SHOT THEN, YOU HAT!!!
WOOP OKAY WE FLYING NOW
Kacchan, tired of sitting back watching Deku invent new ways to die, decides to improvise a few of his own. hmmmmmmm
(ETA: HE LEARNED FROM THE BEST ORZ.)
OKAY WAIT A MINUTE NOW
why does this sound like he’s planning something on his own after the Todorokis have done their part. KACCHAN. EXCUSE ME, KACCHAN
SDLFKJLKJLJ
OKAY HOLD THE FUCKING PHONE
IS THIS LEADING WHERE I THINK IT’S LEADING, HOLY --
-- ooOF
I WASN’T FUCKING READY FOR THAT ONE. BAKUBULLYING FROM HIS OWN NOW-REMORSEFUL POV. SHIT. FUCKING FELT THAT. HERE I THOUGHT YOU WERE BUILDING UP TO AN “ALL FOR ONE FOR ALL” REVEAL, AND THEN YOU GO AND PULL THAT INSTEAD, WHAT’S GOING ON
-- HOLD UP WE’RE NOT DONE WITH THIS ONE YET MAYBE!!
“ONE FOR ALL IS”??!? KDSLFJAKLSJLKJLKJL AND THEN INTERRUPTING ME WITH THE CUTE BABIES WATCHING THE ALL MIGHT FOOTAGE, OH MY GOD. I’M JUST WILDLY REACTING TO EVERYTHING THAT’S BEING THROWN AT ME RIGHT NOW LMAO I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE THIS IS LEADING
OOF THE NOTEBOOK
KACCHAN THIS ISN’T EVEN YOUR MEMORY HONEY, GET IT TOGETHER
OH MY GLOB
THIS IS THE MOST NONSENSICAL SEQUENCE OF PANELS RIGHT NOW. I’M SURE THIS IS ALL SHORTLY GOING TO COME TOGETHER IN SOME PROFOUND WAY THAT’S GOING TO KICK MY EMOTIONS SQUARE IN THE BALLS, BUT RIGHT NOW I’M JUST ALL “OOH AHH” LIKE SOME HAPLESS RUBE ALONG FOR THE RIDE. p.s. this chapter still doesn’t have a title!! p.p.s. Horikoshi is a knave
(ETA: HORIKOSHI IS A FUCKING MALFEASANT!!)
I CAN’T TAKE THIS??
PLEASE STOP BUILDING UP TO WHATEVER IT IS YOU’RE BUILDING UP TO AND JUST SAY IT ALREADY, I’M DYING OMG
...and we’re cutting back to the action. godfuckingdammit it’s gonna be one of those chapters where the entire thing is just buildup to some huge reveal on the very last page isn’t it
(ETA: [sounds of screaming heard in the distance])
anyway so this next page is just Deku flying in the air, and Tomura flying through the air, and Endeavor+Katsuki+Shouto flying through the air, and everyone’s flying through the air, and we’re all just flying. TALK TO ME MORE ABOUT THE CURSE OF OFA DAMN IT
OOHHHHHH
guess if it was good enough for Hood, it’s probably their best shot huh. better than whatever the fuck Deku was trying to pull at any rate
OOP
gotta admit, if I didn’t already know full well that Tomura could not possibly die here, I’d have been pretty convinced he was dying here lol
DSFKJL ENDEAVOR BUDDY YOU MIGHT HAVE POSSIBLY OVERDONE IT JUST A BIT
wait... is that Blackwhip...?? or???
OH SHIT
WHAT EVEN IS THIS CHAPTER, COME ON
-- FMMMJAKAKJDJL, UM
TIME TO SCROLL BACK UP TO THAT PANEL OF TOMURA BEING MELTED, AND READ WHAT AFO WAS SAYING A LITTLE MORE CAREFULLY LMAOOOO. LOL. WHOOPS. OH NO KATSUKI WHAT HAVE YOU DONE
AHHHHHHHH
WHAT’S WITH THE NARRATION SQUARE ALL OF A SUDDEN AHHHHHH
oh my fresh and citrusy lord. this is it isn’t it. all of my theories converge at once. Tomura being possessed by AFO; OFA is AFO/Deku has AFO; Katsuki does something stupid and loses his quirk. THE PERFECT STORM. THEORY SINGULARITY
oh my lord oh my god oh my lord oh my god honey what are you doing, honey, no
his body’s moving before he can think. WHAT ARE THESE FLASHBACKS OF ALL HIS DEKU RELATED MEMORIES. BULLYING DEKU, BEING SAVED FROM THE SLUDGE MONSTER, RECONCILING WITH HIM AT GROUND BETA, OH MY GOD. I’M NOT READY. [WRAPS MYSELF IN A BLANKET BURRITO AND SLOWLY SCROLLS DOWN FROM THE SAFETY OF MY COCOON]
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
HORIKOSHI KOUHEI: [LOADS GUN WITH CHAPTER TITLE AND AIMS DIRECTLY FOR MY HEART]
ME: [SWEATING]
HORIKOSHI: [SMILES, REACHES FOR THE TRIGGER... AND THEN SUCKER PUNCHES ME SQUARE IN THE FACE]
excuse me WHAT. PARDON, THE FUCK. WHY ARE THE FIRST FEW LONE PIANO NOTES OF ADELE’S “SKYFALL” PLAYING. WHAT THE FUCK
excuse me, Horikoshi. excuse me, could I just -- could I get. COULD I JUST GET A WORD WITH YOU FOR A MINUTE. SIR
son of a. ...how am I even supposed to wrap this up. just
sob okay. so let’s just. ...
All for One 100% just took Tomura’s body over. like, he was all “Tomura, you’re fucking dying, just give me your body you muppet”, and Tomura couldn’t really argue on account of he really was dying, and so, YOINK. which is the sound that a body makes when it’s being taken over, I think
All for One then activated his forced activation quirk?? which OF FUCKING COURSE he passed on to Tomura as well. so THAT’S JUST GREAT
Kacchan is seriously the fastest character in the series. the reflexes, the sheer speed necessary to intercept that hit? goddamn
every single one of those BakuDeku flashbacks are now wanted by the FBI for first-degree murder of me
this has nothing to do with Kacchan fucking dying and stuff, but is it just me or were there HUGE “Kacchan as Bakugou’s hero name” vibes earlier on in this chapter with the flashbacks to Deku explaining the meaning behind his own name, HMM
and speaking of, this is the first time we’ve gotten Kacchan narrating in the little box panels, unless I’m completely mistaken somehow. Horikoshi really waited almost 300 whole chapters to do that. and it was worth it. holy shit
fun fact, this moment is something that’s been on my wishlist since chapter 12 lol, you can go back and check the recap if you want. back then I called it a long shot. oh how the times have changed
I DON’T KNOW HOW I’M EVEN SO STUNNED ABOUT THIS, GUYS. this is exactly what I predicted at the end of the last chapter. MY CHILD IS DUMB. THAT’S ALL THERE IS TO IT. HE’S THAT EXACT KIND OF SHOUNEN DUMB. WE’VE KNOWN IT ALL ALONG
oh my god. and now Deku’s gonna go ham, arms or no arms. AND BETS ON WHICH NEW QUIRK HE’S ABOUT TO UNLOCK? because the last time someone so much as insulted Kacchan in his presence, he SPONTANEOUSLY GREW SHADOW TENTACLES OUT OF THE BLUE AND ATTEMPTED TO MURDER THE PERSON. so if this kid has got ANYTHING left up his sleeve, I have to imagine that SEEING HIS PRECIOUS CHILDHOOD FRIEND TAKE A DEADLY ATTACK MEANT FOR HIM is gonna leave him feeling SOME KINDA WAY. I literally have no idea what’s going to happen next but I would not count this angry little broccoli out yet. not as long as he’s still conscious
anyway. so I wonder what’s the world record for continuous screaming, and whether or not I could break said record by doing such nonstop from now until a week from now when I finally get to read the next chapter
...lol apparently the record is only 8 mins and 45 seconds so GOOD NEWS GUYS, WITH THE POWER OF THIS NEW CHAPTER, WE ARE GOING TO MAKE HISTORY. DEEP BREATH. -- AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I’m Not Okay- Chapter one Midoriya x Reader/Bakugou x Reader
Izuku Midoriya x reader/ Katsuki Bakugou x reader
Summary: You have struggled with mental health your whole life so why can’t you seem to get it under control. Will you be able to keep the same mask even though two of your classmates have seen under it?
Warnings: Depression, Angst, Anxiety.
Words Count: 3,786
Comment: This isn’t my first time writing fanfic but it is my first time posting it. I hope you enjoy.
Had breathing always been this hard? Were you always this tired? When did your legs start refusing to move you any further? You knew the answers to these questions. Of course, you knew since you’d been dealing with these issues for so long. Your chest has been tight for years, the kind of suffocating one endures under immense pressure or while drowning; metaphorically and figuratively. Breathing shouldn’t be considered a chore and yet to you it was one of the hardest things to do, an inconvenience. The exhaustion of your face didn’t even begin to show exactly how tired you were, physically and mentally. Did anyone notice the way your shoulders were no longer squared, like you had no fight left even though you were always ready to face any challenge before. Before what? What exactly had changed so much for you to feel this way.
You had always dealt with depression. The mental illness had been a part of your life since you were little. When you had first started to attend counseling, they tried to tell you that maybe you were stressed from school, maybe your parents didn’t love you enough, maybe you lacked friendship and isolation was causing this. No matter what the counselors said it never seemed to add up to you. Your family life wasn’t horrible, your schooling wasn’t so hard, and you had plenty of friends and yet you still felt like you shouldn’t exist. Your family had nothing to do with this but you could reference a few experiences where they proved that you meant little to them. The same could be said for your schooling. Now that you attended UA you weren’t bothered as much but prior to graduating middle school you had received your fair share of bullying.
Currently your friendships seemed strong. Your fellow classmates always invited you to join them for activities outside of school and during school you never lacked someone to talk to or hang out with. Yet, despite how included you were, there was a large gap between you and the rest of the class. You didn’t realize but you had separated yourself from them over the span of the last few months. They noticed your isolation but all took it in different ways. Some of your friends decided that you must need space and graciously gave it to you. Others were worried but didn’t know how to approach you. There was a sliver of people in class that hadn’t even noticed a change in your behavior since they were focused on their own issues and lives.
At the moment your legs had stopped moving. Your chest was tightening and you knew that you needed to grab onto something to prevent an episode. An unsteady shaking hand reaches frantically for anything to grab ahold of. Your luck would be grabbing onto the arm of the most difficult angry person you’d ever met. A gasp escapes your lips as your hand is viciously removed from none other than Katsuki Bakugou himself. His crimson eyes burn daggers into your sad and fearful (e/c) ones.
“WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING TOUCHING ME, FUCKING EXTRA!”
His words have nothing but anger and hatred to them. The yelled question was laced with disgust as his eyes went from glaring to disgusted, Bakugou’s lip twitching into a snarl. Had this happened a few weeks ago you would have yelled back. You would have defended yourself because that’s the person you were. A girl who didn’t let the world treat her like shit since you did a good enough job doing that all on you own. That previous version of you is gone in this moment. You can’t fight back right now. A slight choked sob breaks the tense silence between the two of you as Bakugou waited for a response. He was expecting you to yell back, for you to defend yourself but instead he sees something he had never wanted to witness in his life. Your eyes were glossy from the tears that threatened to fall, the fabric of your shirt rose and fell frantically with your breathing. Shaking, your body was shaking and you had lost the ability to speak. However, you did not lose the ability to run despite your legs wanting to give up.
“Y/n.”
You didn’t stand around to see what he would say next. Your legs thrusted you forward pushing passed his shoulder and down the empty corridor. The two of you should have been in class right now but you were late. Bakugou stared at the spot you had just been occupying, his mind racing trying to figure out what the hell just happened. He hadn’t realized that his face had gone from angry to shocked. His eyebrows were knit together with concern instead of malice. Had he acted faster he would have reached out to stop you. Never had he ever witnessed you react like that to his threats. Not once had it seemed to bother you when he threatened or insulted you. You always had that same dumb smile on your face or even giggled at his shitty behavior.
“Tsk.”
Bakugou clicked his tongue before his hands dipped into his pockets. He wasn’t going to run after you. He may have decided to let you go but that didn’t mean he wasn’t worried which pissed him off.
As Bakugou left to class you had kept running. Taking the stairs down two at a time you hoped to get away faster but instead tripped and fell. The pain of hitting the concrete steps jolted through your legs. The tears that had fallen before seemed to double as you were now in physical pain as well as mental. After positioning yourself into a sitting position on one of the steps you realize you’ve scrapped up your knee. Blood was already trickling down your reddened leg. The scrape stung and it was painful to walk when you finally attempted to leave again. Your hands had to hold into the railing in order to prevent more pressure on your injured appendage.
“Y/N!”
You had been trying to leave the building when your name was shouted from behind you. Someone clearly out of breath from the heavy sighs that came after your name was yelled. You had almost expected Bakugou and were slightly disappointed when it wasn’t. Instead Midoriya stood in front of you. His hands on his knees, leaned forward catching his breath. When he looks up, he sees the blood and instantly rushes forward again. His hands gently brush your knee as he squats down. A light blush crosses your cheek since he is at eye level with your skirt and his fingers are gently brushing the sides of the wound without touching it directly.
“What happened?! Kacchan came into class late, he didn’t do this to you did he!?”
Midoriya was frantically speaking, his words coming out slightly muttered. You understood what he had said and would have answered his question but you had a question of your own that needed to be answered. You rub your eyes looking down at the forest haired boy.
“What are you doing out of class?”
You knew it wasn’t right to answer his question with a question but his presence didn’t make any sense to you. Midoriya blinks up at you before he stands back up. He reaches his hand forward to brush a few stray tears. Your eyes closed on instinct when something came that close to your face. The touch was so light that you were convinced he hadn’t even touched you at all. Your eyes crack open when he speaks.
“I was concerned about you so I asked Mr. Aizawa if I could try to find you. He allowed me to check if you were still in the building. I’m glad I found you, though I wish it was under better circumstance. Now, Y/n are you going to answer my questions.”
You nod looking down at your feet out of embarrassment. You hadn’t meant to break down in front of Bakugou and now you had to figure out a way to explain your sorry state to the class baby. The nicest person in your class wanted to know what was bothering you and part of you wanted to break down and tell him about how you felt. To tell him how you lacked air and how the world was beginning to get heavier and you felt stuck under it. There was so much you wanted to tell him, yet nothing came up. Instead you let silent tears roll down your cheeks. Before you could reach your own hand up to wipe the tears Midoriya’s fingers brush them away. You look at him and expect judgment even though you know that’s not the kind of person he is. His eyes hold endearment and concern. He thinks of you as a close friend and cares so much about how you feel. Currently he is trying to figure how you have this much sadness in your expression and how he hadn’t realized it before. The both of you are stuck in this silence staring into the others eyes.
“Katsu- Bakugou didn’t do anything to me. Well, he did but it was my fault. I spaced out for a moment and touched him without permission. He, um got mad and started yelling at me but I deserved it.”
You had moved your hand up to your opposite arm and started nervously rubbing it, a slight chuckle breaks free from your quickly drying lips. You don’t want to cause drama with any of your classmates especially with all that they already had on their plates and you with your own crumbling mental state. You finally focus your attention from the ground to Midoriya who is biting his thumb nail and muttering to himself. His expression is serious but also holds the slightest bit of, anger? You must be reading to into his furrowed brow and narrowed eyes. Midoriya was always the one to find good in everything and find a way to be on both sides of an opposing conflict.
“Midoriya.”
You tried to get his attention since standing here was starting to get uncomfortable and class would end eventually.
“Let me take you to recovery girls office. You skinned your knee pretty bad. I’ll leave you alone after that if you want me too.”
As much as you wanted to go back to your dorm and curl into yourself you knew Midoriya wouldn’t let this go and would keep pushing till you agreed. Though a slight part of you wasn’t opposed to having company other than the intrusive thoughts screaming in the background of your mind. You couldn’t trust yourself to speak again without breaking down with the newest wave of anxiety crashing down. Instead you slowly lifted your hand toward your classmate offering it to him. The relief and kindness that flashed across his eyes made your chest tighten. It was so opposite of how Bakugou reacted to your earlier but you were already aware of the differences in the two boys’ personalities and knew you couldn’t take Bakugou’s reaction to heart.
“Y/n… Please try to pay attention. I’d feel bad if you got hurt under my watch.” A slight chuckle escaped the green haired boy as he held your hand and lead you away from the exit. The doors leading to your freedom faded from site as the hero in training brought you back down the empty hallways. Your chest was tightening again and despite your cracking lips you felt like water was filling your lungs. Despite your quiet and closed off demeanor Midoriya continued to try and smile for you. He spoke when you couldn’t and his legs moving in front of you reminded you to move yours along. It was like a baby deer watching its mother before shaking legs stand up and it takes its leap of faith. Expect you weren’t a baby deer; you are a teenager wanting to be a hero and how were you going to do that when you couldn’t even save yourself from… yourself.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The nurse’s office was quiet which is usually a good sign but right now it was agonizing silence. You sat on the edge of an empty bed while two pairs of eyes stared at you assessing, analyzing, waiting for you to say something. Your knee was no longer the subject, now it was the dark circles under your eyes and the way you avoided eye contact. You could feel judgement even if it wasn’t there. Recovery girl fixed physical wounds and internal damage but you weren’t bleeding anymore and the internal damage wouldn’t show up on an x-ray.
“L/n.” You looked up at the soft yet stern voice of Recovery Girl. “Are you having trouble sleeping? Are you eating properly and keeping yourself hydrated? Your eyes are sunken in which tells me you aren’t sleeping and are lacking the right amount of water. A hero in training needs to take care of their bodies. You should be getting at least 8 hours of sleep and drinking around 3 liters of water a day. If you can’t stomach eating right now, I can pull you out of physical training to prevent any harm to you.”
“NO!” You could lie about promising to get sleep and drink more water but you couldn’t get around a referral dismissing you from physical training. You already felt like you were falling behind the rest of your classmates. If you had to take a break now then you truly would be left alone with your thoughts and that would be even worse for your health than lacking proper nutrition and hydration.
“Please don’t worry about me. I’m just having a bad day. Everyone has bad days once in a while, right? I’ve been studying late so I haven’t been sleeping and I sometimes forget to drink water cause I’m a little ditzy.” You felt like you weren’t even lying but you were and it was so much easier than telling the truth even though the words you wanted to say were on your tongue waiting for their chance to slip out. Your lies were so believable that even yourself fell into their calming deceit. A smile appeared as you wet your lips with the cup of water you had been handed when you had first arrived. Your eye lashes tickled your checks when you blinked away any tears that might have wanted to join the party. A deep breath and you felt normal. Recovery Girl and Midoriya still stared with skepticism but you wore a stunning mask that prevented them from getting to you. “I promise that I’ll try and study earlier so I can sleep. I’ll drink water every chance I get and eat every meal. Just don’t make me stop, Please.”
“Well… I would have had trouble benching one of Mr. Aizawa’s prized students anyway. You have promised me that you will do these three essential things and I expect you to follow up with that promise. Which is why I shall be appointing Midoriya here to watch you.”
“Wha-No. That isn’t fair to him. You can’t just make someone baby sit me.” You felt bad when you stood up and swung your hand in Midoriya’s direction. He flinched slightly but not because he was afraid, you would hit him. He was slightly off put by your shouting in protest.
“I can and I will. I am also going to give you a log where you will write every time you drink and eat so I can look it over next week to make sure I don’t have to follow up on my threat. If you are having trouble studying may I suggest a tutor.” Wow a suggesting after all the coercion. You had to do everything she said or face repercussion. You could have easily said you had done these things but with Midoriya watching you it was going to be hard to not follow through. There was no argument left in you. Defeated you let your shoulders sag and a tiny nod is sent in Recovery Girls direction.
“Okay.” With that you had been given your logs, a bottle of water, and Midoriya’s support. A pat of your back was the last thing you received before leaving the office. You had been suffering earlier and now you wanted to destroy the walls in front of you and scream until your throat bled. As you walked down the slightly crowed halls Midoriya followed like your faithful guard dog, or more like a baby sitter trying to prevent a baby from opening pill bottles. You had stopped and grunted when he ran into your back, the grip you had on your bag strap tighter than the bandaging on your leg. You could hear the green hair boy, whom an hour ago was your savior and now was your worst enemy with no fault other than your own, apologizing for running into you.
“I-I’m so sorry Y/n.”
“Leave me alone.” The words came out between gritted teeth. You hated the taste anger left in your mouth; it was worse than vomit. You were going to say something you’d regret so you had to escape him now to prevent that from happening. He meant well when he took you to the nurse’s office. He meant well and yet you were angry because you just wanted to go to your dorm and drown in tears and scream into the empty building while you had the chance. Now that classes were over you couldn’t do that and now you had to follow some stupid regiment.
“I said LEAVE ME ALONE!” The words hadn’t meant to be yelled but they came out loud. Some people turned and looked in time to see the shock and hurt wash over Midoriya’s face and to watch the anger on your own dissipate into pain and regret before you ran. Midoriya couldn’t reach you this time. You had run away with no intention to be caught again. You ran faster even though your knee throbbed begging you to stop. The metaphoric water in your lungs was also trying to restrain you, trying to keep you from escaping. Hallways flew by along with familiar and unfamiliar faces. You looked insane as your hair wildly danced behind you and your skirt tried to fly up when you leaped from the top of the stairs. This was your ‘leap of faith’ but really it was a rush of cowardice. You landed with a hiss and stumble before rushing past the people watching with fear and curiosity. When the midafternoon sun kissed your skin, you knew you were almost free to breakdown. The throbbing faded with the increased adrenaline as you finally made in to the dorm building. You made sure not to look at anyone as you rushed inside and straight to the elevator. You could feel the eyes and hear the unspoken questions but didn’t want to look or hear. You just wanted to go to your room and sleep for the next millennium. Life had other plans for you. When the elevator door opened Bakugou walked out. Your felt ice in your veins despite the heat that spread across the rest of your body since you were embarrassed, he had to watch your pathetic display earlier. Your body went stiff and you looked directly at the floor before swiftly rushing into the waiting elevator. You were almost free but that’s when a hand pushed against the door causing it to retract. Bakugou’s piercing red eyes stared into your broken ones before slowly moving down to the bandaging on your knee which was now slightly pink from blood resurfacing after your running and jumping. You waited for some harsh comment about how you were an idiot or pathetic but the words never came. Instead his voice came out low and non-threatening.
“If you need that rebandaged later come by my room. I have some experience with bandaging.” He didn’t see the confusion on your face when he pulled his hand away allowing the door to close and take you to your floor. You sighed falling against the wall with your hand pushing into your chest willing it to stop hurting. Bakugou wasn’t a nice guy but you knew he had soft moments but never had you personally experienced one. You could only assume it was his own way of trying to ease regret from yelling at you. You didn’t have the energy to think about what Bakugou’s new behavior could mean. You were tired and finally in your own room. A safe place that no one could force you to leave, well no one has tried. With a heavy sigh you fall backward onto your bed finally letting everything out as a sob pushes your lips apart followed by more and more till the only sound that could be heard was your pained whimpers and chocked out screams. Your brain throbs against your cranium and you wish you could puncture a hole to relieve the pressure like they did in asylums in the past. This was how you lived most of your days and nights when it became to much. Sobbing and breaking down while the world moved around you. The words spoken as whispers in your ears telling you how useless and pathetic you are. How the world spins and your classmates still laugh and play regardless of your absence.
However, no matter what your thoughts told you. No matter what you own personal demons whisper, someone cared. Someone noticed. Midoriya entered the dorm building wishing you were curled up against Mina on the couch like you did on good days. He wanted you to be fine but he knew you weren’t and even if Recovery Girl hadn’t asked him, he would have still tried to help you because he wanted you to be better. He was going to help you. He wasn’t the only one. Bakugou leaned against the counters not listening to the conversations around him. Instead he thought about the pain you were in. He wondered how much you suffered alone and he was determined, despite his pride, to destroy that suffering. He knew your battle was one that lacked villains and instead had to be fought slowly and methodically with patience and words. He would be there for you or at least promised himself that he would try which to Bakugou held a lot of meaning.
These boys want to save you, the only thing is they haven’t quite figured out you need to be saved from yourself.

Revival of Midoriya Izuku chapter 3
It’s been 84 years huh? As always the fanfic is up on ao3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/16929483/chapters/52652386
also im aware of like some formatting issues with the fic when it comes to tumblr, so reading it on ao3 might be better if you particularly care about like italics and what not, but otherwise it’s all the same stuff.
“Move your ass Boom Boom Bitch, I wanna get there early!” shouted Izuku, as him and Bandit sat on rather stylish, but uncomfortable couch in the Bakugous’ living room that was probably worth more than both of them put together, which probably wasn’t even that much anyway since they’re both garbage, but it’s about the principle of the thing.
“Shut your mouth you Trash Twink, I’ll get there when I get there! And what the fuck are you doing in my house?” screamed Bakugou all the way from upstairs, although with his voice being as explosive as his quirk he might as well be standing right next to you considering the damage he does to everyone’s eardrums.
Speaking of hearing damage “Katsuki!!! Is that how you talk to our guest you rude brat?! Get over here!” exclaimed Aunt Mitsuki.
“Shut it old hag! Deku’s not a guest, he’s just an annoying cockroach that invites himself wherever he wants and does whatever he wants!” which is a fair point, considering Izuku has invited himself to Bakugou’s first day at UA for less than wholesome reasons. Some people might see it as the ultimate bitch slap to Bakugou’s ego (partially true), but for the most part it’s merely a testament of how far Izuku has come, considering he now only sees UA as a place where he can flirt with Tensei’s hot brother, rather than a means of accomplishing some bullshit dreams... But it’s not like Kacchan knows any of this, so he can fuck off.
If you were to ask Izuku what his deal with Bakugou was, he would reply “Best friends, duh” with enough sarcasm to last you the next ten years. If you were to press for any specifics his reply would be more along the lines of “I dunno, get the fuck out of my apartment” followed by having Trash Bandit sent after you. The bottom line was, his relationship with Bakugou was complicated, as were most thing in Izuku’s life, but that’s not unusual.
Izuku’s presence at the Bakugou household though? That’s quite unusual, yet more likely than you’d think.
And although the screaming match between the two Bakugous was ever so entertaining Izuku had places to be, and guys to seduce, so “Leave it Auntie” he exclaims in a dismissive manner “We don’t want to rile him up too much, otherwise he ain’t gonna get that 30-day chip from the anger management that he’s been gunnin’ for” he adds half-jokingly.
“I know, I know” she says “But you’d think he would act a little nicer by now, after all these months of therapy.”
“Wouldn’t expect miracles if I were you Auntie, you know what the say; Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree ” replies the boy with a shiteating grin as he motions towards Bakugou descending down the stairs, not missing the way Mitsuki flinched ever so slightly at his rather obnoxious comment.
“And to think you used to be such a nice boy yourself, I used to always tell your mother how great it would’ve been if Katsuki was more like you” she says in a mix of bittersweet nostalgia and regret.
“Yeah well, considering the shit I got for being nice , I think from now on I’d rather be a bastard and then some” exclaimed Izuku as he got up from the couch with Bandit in tow and made his way towards Bakugou. The other boy was getting ready to leave as well and his excitement for the day was concealed even more poorly than his mother’s discomfort at the current conversation “Have a good one Auntie!”
And with that, the two teenagers and one (1) sheep were on their way.
“Kacchan please , not everything is about you” said Izuku exasperatedly, hurrying over to the only empty seat on the train.
“Like hell it isn’t! This was supposed to be MY DAY, my first day at the school of my fucking dreams, and you’re trying to ruin it by following me around dressed like a dollar stripper!” replied Bakugou in a whisper-scream. He may have anger issues but he wasn’t a dumbass and the two of them were already drawing enough attention as it was. It wasn’t exactly easy to remain unnoticed on a train while carrying a green sheep; a task which fell on Bakugou, because Izuku was a weak-noodle-arm-bitch.
“First of all, I’m flattered that you think I’m worth a dollar” said the weak-noodle-arm-bitch in question “And second of all, this is my best outfit.” Said best outfit consisted of a worn out tank top that had THE HOES written on it in what once was a glittery pink; a pair of booty shorts with ENEMY OF STATE hand stitched onto the backside and rainbow patterned knee socks. The look was completed with a pair of pink platform crocs, because Izuku had standards ... and because he was short.
“God I hate you” murmured Bakugou.
“Don’t I know it Kacchan?”
The rest of the train ride was spent in silence.
It wasn’t until they actually reached the gates of the school that Bakugou had a thought; one that he probably should’ve had before they even left his house, but having a coherent thought while carrying a sheep and bickering with the sheep’s owner about whether the sheep should be referred to as a dog or not is in all fairness not possible.
“They won’t let you in” he said, voicing the sudden epiphany.
“Sure they will” replied Izuku.
“Oh yeah? How? Deku, you don’t fuckin’ go to this school, you don’t go to ANY school!” shouted Bakugou, because they were no longer on the train, therefore arguing with a lunatic stripper looking guy was now acceptable.
Izuku for the most part did not have a problem with that, because not only did he love having petty fights with people, he also loved proving them wrong, especially when everyone and their grandma accuses him of being a high school drop out.
“Shinjuku Metropolitan would beg to differ” he says, dropping the metaphorical bomb on the unsuspecting dipshit that is his childhood friend, after which he continues to walk, crossing the gates of UA High like he owns the damn place.
After about a minute of Bakugou standing frozen in shock, he finally snapped out of it when Bandit decided to start chewing on his uniform “Oi, hold the fuck up!” screamed the blond as he followed Izuku inside, while the sheep was being dragged along like a betrayed ragdoll “Did you just say Shinjuku Metropolitan?!”
“Kacchan, you know I can’t hold you, you’re too heavy” replies the other teen, while pointedly ignoring Bakugou’s question and the looks he’s been getting from the students.
“Don’t change the subject shitty Deku! How the fuck did your ass get into a top non-hero high school in the whole damn Tokyo you bitch?”
“What, like it’s hard?”
“I fuckin’ swear to God-”
“Do it! Pull the trigger piglet!”
“WHAT’S GOING ON HERE?”
Their pointless quarrel, which was on a steady way into becoming a straight up brawl (Izuku having already pulled out his axe and lighted a cigarette using one of Bakugou’s warning explosions) came to a stop when they were interrupted by one of UA’s teachers, although in Izuku’s opinion she made a wrong career choice, considering being a Dominatrix probably paid more.
On another note, when someone asks you ‘what’s going on?’ that doesn’t mean they’re actually interested in whatever is happening at the moment, it means ‘stop’, therefore Izuku’s answer to that question, which usually involves something along the lines of “You see, I’m small, horny and full of rage, and I have no outlet for these emotions” is rarely appreciated. That is not to say that the lack of appreciation is going to stop him from spawning whatever dumb shit comes to his mind when faced with the judgement from authority figures. If anything it makes everything worse.
“That’s just how we flirt” replied the teen instead, all the while looking THE Pro-Hero Midnight dead in the eye and putting out his cigarette on Bakugou’s uniform jacket. Bakugou, for the most part was unable to even be mad at the cigarette burn considering he was busy recovering from being metaphorically punched in the kidneys by that line.
“And why aren’t you wearing uniform?” she asks suspiciously, pointing at Izuku’s attire.
“Oh, I don’t go here” he replied casually.
“Then pray tell , why are you in this school?”
“To get laid”
“TO WHAT?!” screamed Bakugou in surprise.
At this point Midnight took out her phone (no, her costume doesn’t have pockets, please don’t ask where she keeps it) and clicked on one of three contacts she keeps on her speed dial.
“Principal Nedzu, we got a situation…”
After telling Bakugou not to worry and that he will see him later in class, Izuku was dragged to the principal’s office by Midnight.
On the way there he tried cracking up another joke, telling her that his safe word was ‘avocado’. She did not appreciate that one either. For those of you wondering what happened to Bandit, the sheep ended up following Bakugou, much to the blond’s dismay.
Now, being sent to a principal’s office, especially of a school that you don’t even attend is usually a sign that you have royally fucked up. Not for Izuku though, because he had a plan! Contrary to the common belief, Izuku is not dumb. The fall didn’t kill off any of his brain cells, only his ability to give a shit, which made life much easier since he no longer had to worry about things like: people’s opinions, social norms, laws and heteronormativity.
Anyway, back to the plan. Izuku was not dumb, therefore even he knew that wandering around UA while not attending the school would not fly. He needed a way to stay, and for that he needed the guy who runs the whole shitshow; Nedzu.
Which is why the moment Midnight opens the door to the office Izuku stomps in like a man on a mission and stops right in front of an animal of questionable origin in a suit that is allegedly UA’s principal. A little unusual, but if a scumbag like Endeavour can hold the title of No. 2 Hero in Japan, then an animal can run a school.
The principal in question was calmly sitting on a couch and drinking tea, totally unconcerned with whatever bullshit Izuku was about to throw at him.
“Now, what seems to be the issue with this young man?” asked Nedzu.
“This young man-” said Izuku, pointing to himself in a rather cocky manner “has a message for you!”
“And what would that message be?”
The principal’s question was answered with what Izuku can only think of as the ultimate power move, or in this case; a literal ace up the sleeve. The boy proceeded to pull out a Monopoly “Get out of Jail” card out of his shorts (since he technically wasn’t wearing any sleeves) and slam it on the table right in front of Nedzu.
While to an outsider the current situation might seem absurd, it is important to remember that Izuku had a plan; one that could’ve never come to a fruition without a little help from the most unexpected person, which is why that card was no ordinary Monopoly card, but a very specific reminder that only Principal Nedzu would know the meaning of, and when he picked it up and flipped it around, the neatly written message on the back made its presence known.
It read: “You owe me one. - Hisashi”
“My dad says ‘Hi!’ ” exclaimed Izuku, taking one look at Nedzu’s face and knowing that he already won.
Was cashing in on a favour that his dad secured like 10 years ago a morally good decision? Debatable, but it got the job done so he’s not gonna complain. All that mattered was that Izuku now had a pass to enter the UA grounds whenever he pleased and nobody could stop him, and so here he was about to enter the classroom where Kacchan is supposed to be in. The bell hasn’t rung yet so he still had some time and who knows, maybe the handsome guy from the police station was in the same class?
With that in mind he opened the gigantic door and made his way into the classroom and was met with what looked like a pissing contest between his crush and his childhood friend.
“REMOVE YOUR FOOT FROM THAT DESK! SUCH AN ACTION IS INSULTING TO THOSE WHO CAME TO UA BEFORE US AS WELL AS THE CRAFTSMEN WHO MADE THIS DESK!”
“LIKE I CARE! WHAT MIDDLE SCHOOL ARE YOU FROM, YOU EXTRA ?!”
Ah yes, pissing contest at its finest, which meant that Izuku had options . The most obvious course of action would be siding up with Tenya and taunting Kacchan, which is not something Izuku would ever say no to. However , it also happens that the object of his affections had a massive boner for rules and authority, which is the exact opposite of everything Izuku stands for, so siding up with Kacchan it is.
And so he made his way to the pair of bickering teenagers and promptly pushed Kacchan’s feet off the desk, earning a scoff from the blond and an approving but baffled look from Iida, which only lasted for about 2 seconds, because Izuku being the gay disaster that he is simply HAD to ruin it all by claiming the desk as his sitting spot and giving Tenya the most ridiculous bedroom eyes that had Kacchan fake gagging like his life depended on it.
“Umm...Izuku, was it?” asked Tenya, feeling awkward under the other boy’s intense gaze.
“It sure was” replied the boy, feeling happy about leaving enough of an impression to be remembered from all those weeks ago “Fancy seeing you here, huh?”
“Indeed-”
“Oh for fuck’s sake Deku!” exclaimed Bakugou, completely fed up with the cringeworthy display in front of him “Just tell four-eyes that you came here because you wanted to see him and be done with it!”
“WHAT?”
“Kacchan, not now! I’m trying to put on some moves!”
“Well your moves are shit-”
“Hey, aren’t you that guy from the news who stabbed a villain in the eye with an axe?!” shouted one of the students while pointing at Izuku. There was something ironic about the fact that it was his stunt on live TV from 2 weeks ago that got everyone’s heads turning and not his iconic outfit, or inappropriate behaviour, or literally anything else about him. Like that’s just rude ok? And interrupting him while he’s trying to flirt? Also rude.
“Bitch, I might be” he replied anyway, because his reputation was on the line and because at this point literally everyone has gathered around the desk that he sat on, so things were way past the point of return. People were throwing questions and accusations at him left and right, Trash Bandit is nowhere to be found and his quil flask is not full enough for this bullshit. At this point Bakugou simply got up from his seat and sat at the back of the room, as far away from this nonsense as possible.
“It’s you!”exclaimed the boy with dual coloured hair and equally mismatched eyes “You’re the guy who keeps T-posing in front of my house. Can you please stop?!” he asked with the most deadpan face Izuku has ever seen despite his voice being filled with desperation.
“Look, I T-pose in front of a lot of houses so you’re gonna have to be more specific” he replied sarcastically — despite knowing exactly who he was talking to — since it probably wasn’t a good moment to mention that you’re besties with that person’s mom because you were both stuck in the same loony bin and so you already know all the family drama and have dedicated a good portion of your time to harassing her abusive piece of shit husband…especially with like 20 people around you.
“You’re the one who egged my limo!” shouted one of the girls at the back. She was a very tall girl with long, dark hair tied in a seemingly gravity defying ponytail and a kind face. She had an air of a distinguished lesbian about her, which Izuku could respect even if she was rich if the limo comment was anything to go by. He egged several limos in his lifetime because seeing rich people out in public makes him go apeshit, as it should, so really how is he supposed to remember everyone?
“And I will egg it again!” promised Izuku “When I see rich people out and about it triggers my fight-or-fuck response”
“Don’t you mean fight-or-flight?” she asked.
“No”
“Are you ok?”
“Not in the slightest”
And with that more people joined in on the conversation, including a particular girl who very much looked like an alien with her bright pink skin and black sclera who ended up complementing his outfit, which thank fuck someone here actually had good taste , as well as a guy who ended up being Ms Shouji’s son, and the only reason he found out was because the guy recognised his antics based on the gossip his mom told him and isn’t that a small fuckin world? And in the middle of it all laid an inconspicuous yellow sleeping bag that has been conveniently ignored by everyone for the sake of the plot up until now.
The sleeping bag began to seemingly unzip by itself and soon enough Bandit’s head poked out of it.
“Bandit! There you are”
“Baaah!”
“Guys! Look at this dog!” exclaimed one of the students who Izuku thought looked like a personification of weed, but he wasn’t going to say that. At least the guy knew what he was talking about.
“I’m pretty certain it’s a sheep-” added Tenya, taking his role as the last standing voice of reason in this room very seriously, even though his voice has practically drowned in the sea of teenagers chanting ‘good doggo’, similarly to how one might feel if they were standing at a dance floor while Baby Got Back started playing.
It’s also important to note that while all of this was happening, Bakugou who has sat himself at the back of the room was forced to witness the chaotic force that is Izuku interacting with multiple people at once while being able to convince about 20 of them to refer to his sheep as a dog, and in that moment he turned around staring into the void and asked himself “Am I having a fuckin stroke?”
“Nah, he’s always like that” replied the one person who was sat at the back along with him that Bakugou previously did not bother to notice.
“And how would you know, you damn extra?” asked Bakugou somewhat offended, because sure him and Izuku were not on the friendliest terms and the whole incident from last year really changed him and what not. But they still knew each other their whole lives, so really that had to count for something and Bakugou was not willing to compromise on that with some random extra who looked like a Tinky Winky humansona on drugs.
Unfortunately Bakugou was not able to get an answer because the entire class was interrupted by a homeless looking guy coming out of the yellow sleeping bag to shame student kind. “If you’re here to socialise, then get out” he said. Soon enough the room was filled with a tense silence as the students were unsure of what to expect next.
“It took 8 seconds for you to quiet down. Time is a precious resource. You lot aren’t very rational, are you?” asked the man as he walked to the front of the classroom, making it very clear that he was in fact their teacher. The man was rather tall and unkept, his hair was long and slightly curled, similar to Izuku’s own and the outfit he wore could only be described as a goth onesie. There was something very familiar about him but Izuku couldn’t quite make out what it was supposed to be.
However, just because Izuku’s memory aligns very closely with a slice of swiss cheese doesn’t mean that the same can be said about the teacher in question. As soon as he turned around to get a good look at his new class his eyes fell on Izuku and his face has swiftly shifted from that of practiced disinterest to shock and recognition that Izuku honestly was not expecting.
“What are you doing here problem child?” asked the man with a certain degree of disbelief in his voice. Once again there was something very familiar about him and the way he addressed Izuku and wait a minute did he just call me a problem child? That can’t be-
“Uncle Shouta” exclaimed the boy in a way that felt uncertain, yet childishly hopeful “Is that you?”
“Of course it is brat, who else would I be?” he replied with a hint of amusement.

Taking Responsibility // yandere Bakugou x self-harming f! Reader
a reupload from my ao3 now for your tumblr viewing pleasure!
summary: Katsuki has spent so long focusing only on himself that half the time he doesn’t even notice what’s going on around him. He’s the best of the best, so why spend time worrying about other people? Or so he thinks, until a new student is accepted in Class 1-A and over time, becomes the only thing he can think about.
tags for depression, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, kidnapping, lots of angst, and attempted rape (not by bakugou though), also this is done from the third person so reader is just referred to with things such as “the young woman, his classmate, etc” without ever being named or physically described. also this is just really fucking long
—
Bakugou initially hadn’t paid it any mind when Eraserhead announced to the class one sunny morning that a new student was being accepted in on recommendations. His own hero training was going smoothly enough, his Quirk becoming stronger and muscles more toned, so in the big picture of things, the rest of his class –save for a few– were pretty insignificant to him. In his eyes he didn’t have the time or the patience for another extra to distract him from working hard to becoming the best. He was here, attending UA, one of the very best in his class. Becoming a Pro Hero was a path he was already on the fast-track to achieving. It wasn’t as if someone life-changing was going to suddenly come along.
Needless to say, whatever date it was that Aizawa had given had totally slipped his mind, and the blonde had almost completely forgotten about it until one Monday morning, he lumbered up to class to find the students of 1-A crowding around something, an action with the lovely added bonus of blocking his way.
“It’s so cool to have another girl in our class! It’s been feelin’ like a real sausage fest around here lately!” Bakugou heard Ashido say in her usual loud, energetic way of speaking, though from where he was standing, the explosive trainee couldn’t see the face of whomever Raccoon Eyes was even speaking to. In fact, the blonde could hardly step into his own classroom; even to just cut left immediately after stepping in, a familiar green-haired hero-in-training was standing there, looking forward to something that made him make that annoying, wide-eyed look of admiration that the explosive student had come to detest.
“Get out of my way, you stupid nerd! You’re blocking the door!” Katsuki snapped at his old childhood friend, brushing past Midoriya and shoving the smaller man out of his way hard with his shoulder, moving to finally step in the classroom. “Oh, K-Kacchan, sorry! I-I didn’t see you there!” Izuku replied in his typical timid fashion, further grating on the blonde’s nerves. “But uh, hey, we got that new classmate to-“
“Don’t care.” Bakugou interrupted, waving off the other youth dismissively to take his assigned seat, putting his feet up on the desk like he usually did. Red eyes steal a glance around the classroom, noting that while not everyone had made it yet, everyone who did seemed keen on talking to their new arrival. Figures as much; all of them lost focus so easily. Didn’t they know they weren’t here to make friends?
“Bakugou!” Iida spoke up rather spiritedly, brows furrowed in his typical class-rep manner. “Stop acting like a delinquent and come introduce yourself to our new classmate!”
“And I said I don’t care!” Katsuki snapped back, a cocky smirk on his face. “Why should I bother getting to know anyone when I already know I’m the best? I shouldn’t have to waste my time on you losers!”
Tenya opened his mouth again to object but ends up rolling his eyes and giving a huff, the blonde feeling some smugness at being able to deflect the studious young man’s authority. Yeah, that’s right; no one told him what to do. He made his own rules, and if they don’t like it, then they can just get lost.
“Hey, don’t take it personally!” He couldn’t help but overhear Sero say, apparently responding to the new kid. “Bakugou’s like that all the time; he’s a dick to everyone! He’s kind of a hothead, really.”
A vein bulges on the Explosion user’s forehead, his eyes going white as he slams his hands down onto his desk. “Hey, you got something you wanna say to me, Tape Arms?! I’ll kill you!”
The group of chatting students spread out a bit, and for the first time Katsuki was able to lay his eyes on the new student. She had a nervous expression as the two of them made eye contact, and that only strengthened his scowl. Great, just another pretty face with no backbone; surely not worth any of his attention. Or… so he tried to tell himself, and yet he couldn’t help the twinge of anger that bubbled up when she changed her focus back onto the other students in an instant, as if he wasn’t even there.
Whatever. It just meant he had one more pest to squash.
Days went by as the new transfer started settling into class, becoming more familiar with the rest of the students and her new teachers, all of which seemed to grow fond of her just a little too quickly for Bakugou’s tastes. He just couldn’t see whatever the hell it was that they could that made them think she was so damn special, and she hadn’t even bothered to say anything to him since she got there; no introduction, no hello, no simple wave, no nothing. What was her Quirk, even? Surely nothing nearly as useful or powerful as his. It was the Explosion Hero that all these extras should be lavishing with their attention, not some nobody who just got there!
But luckily for him, they would be doing Quirk training exercises later that day. It was time to put everyone back in their places and prove once again why he was the one at the top. Surely, if she had a chance to see how truly incredible he was, she wouldn’t be able to ignore him anymore!
Although… Katsuki still couldn’t put a finger on why it mattered so much that he caught her attention. Was it simply a matter of pride, or possibly, potentially, maybe, something else entirely?
–
At last, it was a day scheduled for Quirk training, and Bakugou had been so eager to go first and show off his powers that he all but raced to put on his gym clothes. That newbie wouldn’t have any reason to keep ignoring him if she just knew how incredible he was! He was one of the smartest and strongest in class, and once he strut his stuff, she’d have no reason to deny it! No more passive-aggressive silence, no more talking to that damn nerd instead of him! She’d know once and for all that he was number one!
Or so he had hoped, although upon his arrival at the training ground the blonde was none too happy to see that not only was he not the first to make it there, but that a certain woman had already beaten him to the punch, already talking to Aizawa. The sleepy-eyed staff member held his usual pen and clipboard, ready to take notes as soon as the Quirk training began, which, technically, should have been now, and that made Bakugou all the more irritated that most of his classmates were still running late. It was just another sign of how little they took this seriously, or, that was how the blonde interpreted it at least.
Seeing motion in the corner of her eye, the transfer student’s head turns, and Katsuki locks eyes with her as her gaze falls on him. He gives a smug grin, eager to let her know that his skill was nothing to be scoffed at, an expression which is quickly wiped off his face when, again, she looks back to Aizawa as if he hadn’t even met her gaze at all. Damn it, she acted like he didn’t even exist! It was really starting to burrow under his skin and itch in a way he didn’t even know how to describe.
Irritated, angry, Bakugou decides to bite his tongue. If she thought she was such hot shit, then fine! Let’s see how good she thought she was!! The blonde was more than ready to cut her down at the first inkling of failure, almost anticipating some sort of mediocre performance. In fact, that was what he was hoping for. The student who had the nerve to ignore him would be underwhelmingly pathetic, and then he would swoop in and show just how much of a gap in ability there really was between them. How would she have the nerve to treat him like garbage when he was obviously more of a hero than she ever was? It tickled him pink to even imagine the look of embarrassment that would be on her cute face to see how severely the young blonde could outshine her.
Wait… cute? Did he really just think that?
“Are you sure?” The young transfer student asked Aizawa, her voice carrying loud and clear throughout an otherwise empty clearing, more and more students beginning to filter in from the locker rooms. Eraserhead looked a bit annoyed, eyes narrowing as a pen tapped the clipboard in his hand impatiently. “If I wasn’t sure, I wouldn’t be asking, now would I?” He responded with some rather present snark, and Bakugou took personal pleasure in how nervous and embarrassed the comment made her look. “W-well, I wasn’t asking to be rude…” She comments quietly, scratching the back of her neck with her eyes down. “I didn’t mean to sound full of myself or anything like that. I just meant… if you want me to give everything I’ve got, that it might get… I dunno… kind of overwhelming?”
Shouta quirks a brow, and briefly he turns his head, taking a moment to count the number of present students. Just about everyone was there, and judging by everyone’s current pace, being the dedicated and obedient class that they were, it wouldn’t be long until they had a full audience. The older man simply gives a sort of shrug. “Like I said, as your teacher, I want to see your full capabilities this week. That way I can get a better idea of how I can train you. If you’re nervous about overdoing it, just do it anyways, and I can try and tell you what to fix.”
Katsuki couldn’t help but have his ears perk up. Hang on, this didn’t sound like their typical lesson. Was this person getting some kind of special treatment?!
The blonde couldn’t ignore the increasing conversations cropping up all around him as the rest of the class finally filtered in, the sum of 21 finally there to represent all of 1-A. He was starting to get annoyed with all of their chatter, with all of the waiting as they aimlessly talked amongst themselves, the new kid hogging all of their teacher’s attention, when finally, the Pro Hero turns to speak.
“Alright everyone, there’s been a slight change in plans.” Aizawa explains, raising his voice ever so slightly so that all of his students would hear. “We’re still going to do the regular training, so don’t start getting impatient, you hear?”
Bakugou swears that the teacher glances at a few students including himself before continuing.
“That being said, since we have a new face among you, we’re taking a brief moment to see what they can do. I expect no complaints from the rest of you.”
Respectful to their teacher as always, the students were sure to quiet themselves down, waiting eagerly in preparation to watch their newest comrade in action. Eraser pivots on a heel, looking back to the young woman still standing nervously at his side. “Alright, you can go ahead now. All of our testing softballs are undergoing maintenance for the time being, so just… fire off into the woods or something, I don’t really care.”
The new student nods, taking a moment to anxiously glance at her classmates before she slowly began to move, the distance between her and everyone else growing by the moment. She had her back to the class, facing off into the thick underbrush of the forest that stretched out before her. Katsuki can’t help but keep his eyes glued onto her, the deep rise of her shoulders as she took a large breath, the way her hands began to move as they clasp together, her head dropping as she seems in deep focus.
A glow overtakes her entire body like a coating, flashing brilliantly with a myriad of colors as the air seems to grow thicker, heavier with a tension the young man couldn’t describe. It’s as if the wind picks up, rustling noisily through the trees as that bright emission seems to change and morph and move, travelling to her hands in an instant. Quickly, her posture changes, feet moving into a stance to support her balance as, aggressively, her palms are thrust forward as the area becomes alight with an explosion.
There’s light, so much light, so much energy, suddenly shooting out like a laser beam, huge and powerful, almost impossible to describe, rampaging forward and out into the trees. Burnt smells and a cloud of dust breeze through the air as everyone stood slack-jawed, Bakugou feeling a heavy thudding in his chest as red eyes scanned over the damage. It was like something out of an anime, the way her blast had cut a straight path of chaos right through the forest and leaving only pieces in its wake, even the ground losing several feet off the top from the sheer size of the energy beam. Luckily, the blast had managed to become weakened enough from travelling so far that it didn’t pierce the protective border surrounding the school, but even just the fact it was powerful enough for all of them to even see the barrier when the property had been so large was… jaw-dropping.
Wood and leaves and dirt are left crackling and burnt as the bringer of their destruction finally speaks. “I’m sorry,” The student brought in on recommendations said with a tired huff, being the one to break the silence as she looks to their supervising teacher with an expression of exhausted guilt. “I think I lost my focus for a second there. If I had made it go any further it might have damaged the school, maybe even broken through.” Her tone is nothing but humble, just anxious speculation, and nervously she bows her head apologetically to the staff member. “I’m sorry. I guess I took it too seriously.”
Aizawa took a moment to clear his throat, probably a bit in awe himself if his expression was any evidence. “No, I was the one who told you to go all out, so there’s nothing for you to be apologizing for. Besides, the only thing that got damaged was the forest, and this is what it’s meant to be used for. Quite frankly, it’s probably the best place here for you to fire off an attack like that besides the mock cities.” He pauses for a moment, before giving the very anxious looking young woman a quick pat on the head. “Good job. I can see why you were accepted here on such short notice.”
Class 1-A knew their teacher. Eraserhead wasn’t one to give out unearned praise. Even seeing such an event with their own eyes, hearing his words of approval only solidified what they already knew. Was this new student already one of the most skilled in their class? Was she as good as Midoriya? Perhaps she had as much control as Todoroki? Or… did her raw power rival even Bakugou?
Although he didn’t want to admit it… Katsuki couldn’t help but wonder the same thing.
—
After such an excitable beginning, the rest of the lesson hadn’t been nearly as thrilling for Bakugou. In the end they were all teamed up into small groups for exercises in teamwork, a little brain-bender to see how creatively they could figure out how to use their quirks in tandem. For some, Aizawa would tell them to spar amongst the trees, practicing how effectively they could fight without damaging the surrounding area, a parallel to avoiding property damage while fighting in the city or more crowded areas. For others, the groups were split in half to face off against each other, both sides having to wrack their imagination to think up combos with a classmate they weren’t used to working with.
But all that mattered to Bakugou is that he wasn’t paired with her.
The new student had wound up in another group, with Deku no less, and throughout all the punching and grunting and thuds and booms, her laugh seems to reach the blonde’s ears ever so perfectly, and a swell of jealousy raised up inside of him. He wasn’t even sure what the giggle had been a reaction for, or to whom, but it still… irked him in some way. Why? Because he wasn’t the one to cause it? Or because it wasn’t a laugh meant for him?
Katsuki’s frustration only grew as his performance seemed to suffer, an effect from his own distractions. With every sound or sentence she made, his attention was inequitably pulled solely to the new student. He had sustained quite a few hits and missed attacks because of it, though every time his teammates even so much as suggested he pay attention on them instead, they were met with sharp words of protest. Shut up! He knew what he was doing! He didn’t need a bunch of amateurs trying to give him a lecture!
Honestly, Bakugou was glad when it was all over. He hated this… this odd vulnerability that seemed to surge within him every time he so much as looked at the young woman he knew so little about. Even during English class, even during lunch, his thoughts were… hopelessly consumed.
The young man told himself it was just his regular competitive spirit, which wasn’t entirely wrong. Now that he had seen that she could be such a formidable foe, he couldn’t help but ache at the temptation to fight her himself. How would the two of them square off, he wondered? Even if she had some sort of powerful Quirk, surely she wouldn’t be able to one up him in physical combat. Scenarios of fights and spars flood his mind, almost akin to fantasies as he can’t help but restlessly daydream.
The time to go home hadn’t come soon enough, and since everyone had their own little group of friends, when the end of the day finally came around, Class 1-A all tended to congregate and meet up outside before walking each other home or going to a hangout spot. Even two of the teachers happened to be around this time, Eraserhead and Present Mic hanging in the background, the pair on a bench as the energetic radio host talks the more subdued man’s ear off. Bakugou was surrounded by his own little squad of Sero, Ashido, Kaminari, and Kirishima, but even as they joked around and prattled about just as they always had, he still… he still couldn’t focus! Urgh, what was with him?! The blonde was really starting to get frustrated with himself, and finally figured that, hey, maybe if he finally just had a conversation with her, that maybe it would finally quell this insatiable curiosity, this longing.
Bakugou huffs before he finally starts looking around for this captivating arrival, and the two of them made eye contact the moment his eyes fell onto her. But unlike all those times before, this was different. There was a clear and present loathing in her expression, a glare, if only for a moment. And then, like nothing, her attention snaps back to Deku, as normal and cheery as before, a smile on her face for someone else, anyone else but him.
Oh, now that shit was deliberate.
“Hey!” Katsuki suddenly barks as he angrily stalked up to her. “You got a problem with me or somethin’, you damn extra?!”
The transfer student stops whatever she was saying mid-sentence as his outburst drew the attention of the other students, Midoriya looking back and forth between the two of them nervously. Any and all conversations stopped when the young man’s loud outburst had carried across the courtyard, seemingly countless eyes now focused on them. It was just Bakugou and her now.
Yet despite his rather threatening greeting, an aggravated sigh responds. “You really want to do this now?” The young woman finally says, and her tone of only mild annoyance gets under Bakugou’s skin. “Alright.” She said simply, crossing her arms. “If you want to talk, let’s talk, buddy.”
The none-too-subtle sarcasm pisses him off, Katsuki taking a large stride to grab the young woman by the front of her uniform, slightly lifting her off the ground as Izuku’s eyes widen frantically. “You trying to look down on me?! You think you’re better than me, huh?!”
Her eyes flit to his fist clutching her shirt, then to his face. She looks irritated, and it’s a split-second before Bakugou feels himself slamming into the ground, suddenly flat on his back and throbbing with pain. Wait… what had just happened?!
“Yeah, actually.” The young woman answers without hesitation, now literally looking down at the Explosion user as he’s left temporarily stunned and wondering how she had even managed to flip him. “Honestly Bakugou, I don’t think you’re jack shit. ‘Extra’? Who do you even think you are?”
Katsuki opens his mouth to respond, on the ground and furious, but she doesn’t give him the chance.
“All day every day, people try to be nice to you, or help you, or hell, even just talk to you, and you act like a hyper-aggressive freak about it. Just what is wrong with you? Look at how you treat Midoriya! He’s never been rude to you once and you treat him like fucking garbage!”
Izuku seemed to almost flinch at suddenly being dragged into the conversation, waving his arms around erratically as he spoke, visibly sweating. “W-wait, that isn’t something for you t-to get mad about! Kacchan is always like that, and-“
“And that’s the problem!” She replies rather passionately, looking emotional as her eyes met her classmate. “Ever since I’ve gotten here, I see him constantly treat you like some-like some subhuman piece of trash! You don’t deserve that and you know it, Midoriya! What possible excuse does he have to treat you the way he does?! Every time he so much as gets near you, you flinch! That isn’t normal!”
To this, Izuku didn’t have anything to say, looking rather stunned himself whilst his newest friend looked more than angry enough for the both of both. Countless eyes stare at the dramatic event unfolding, the courtyard suddenly so unbelievably tense and quiet that one could hear a pin drop.
“Bakugou,” The new student began, her voice still shaking as the blonde slowly brought himself up to his feet. “if you were in front of me and your life was in danger, I’d give my life to save you, no questions asked, because that’s what a Hero does.” Passion and emotion put a heavy emphasis on those words as she continued. “But you? I really honestly doubt I could trust you to do the same, for me or anyone else.” Her eyes narrow in a way that makes him feel small, like an insect, like he’s nothing. “You’ve got a long way to go if you think just trying to be the strongest will make you a Hero. If anything? You’re more like a Villain.”
And just like that, the young heroine turns on her heel, her back to the downed man as she gives a sigh, looking towards Deku. “Sorry Midoriya, what were we talking about again? I got a little hot-headed for a second there, my bad.”
Wordlessly Bakugou lied there, seconds ticking by as he feels his anger and… something else he couldn’t identify began to rage wildly in his chest. Even after he’d came and confronted her, she still wanted to brush him off like he didn’t even exist? Someone like him? It enraged him; he couldn’t understand it!! And what was so fucking interesting about Deku anyways?! As if humiliating him wasn’t enough, she had to go and talk to that stupid nerd of all people?! Why choose that weakling over him?! She’d wounded both his body AND, much more importantly, his pride.
In his anger, he snaps.
“You bitch!”
Katsuki flew at her in a rage, thrusting his hand forward towards the back of her head and activating his Quirk, readying a blast that would blow her away, to teach her some respect and show her why he was someone to be feared.
…Except nothing happens, and a familiar capture weapon flies through the air and snags the blonde’s wrist. “Bakugou!!” Eraserhead and Present Mic stand there only a few yards away, one of them with locks of raven hair raising as the Pro Hero looks at his student with angry, red eyes. “What the hell do you think you’re doing, trying to use a move like that on a classmate?”
The Pro Hero looks angry, the enthusiastic emcee at his side seeming no less disappointed. Even a glance around proved that most of Bakugou’s classmates apparently felt similar, either scowling or frowning or even looking annoyed. He knew he shouldn’t care, but he can’t stop himself from looking at his intended target once more.
She looked… upset for a moment, shocked that he had actually tried to attack her. Almost looking like she was ready to cry, and suddenly, there’s a pain in his chest that makes the young man feel ill.
Without another word, the recommendations student slowly turns around and begins to walk away, already having all of her things gathered up into a bag for her to go home. Even at the encouraging protests of her newest classmates to come back, her path doesn’t waver. There’s a particular heaviness to her step, a sag in her shoulders. For all intents and purposes, she seemed… hurt.
But Bakugou really didn’t have the chance to ask her why, or even have the chance to wonder to himself before he feels himself yanked back, spun around to face a certain educator who looked very, very annoyed.
“Detention, starting right now, and for the rest of the week.” Eraserhead commands harshly, those red eyes burrowing into Katsuki as the blonde had no choice but to obey his teacher, not resisting his restraints. “You don’t try to hurt a teammate, no matter how angry you are. I thought that was something you had already learned here, but apparently I was wrong.”
Bakugou opens his mouth to protest, if even for a second. “But she started-“
“She didn’t start anything. You were the one who lost your cool and made the first move. Don’t blame someone else for your own childish behavior. You know better than that.”
As much as he wanted to argue, Katsuki knew that ultimately, his teacher was probably right. It didn’t do much to stifle his burning frustration as the Pro began to cart him off by dragging the young man by his bindings, but it was… something. The more steps he took, the more time he had to think and cool down. Wow, he had really managed to make an ass out of himself, huh?
But… along with this realization, a new epitome emerged, and Katsuki had to admit…
the way she had overpowered him was pretty hot.
—
That unfamiliar stirring in the young man’s chest whenever he saw her hadn’t really ever gone away, even now after months since her enrollment, but over time, Bakugou had found a way to accept these unknown feelings. It was just another person he wanted to impress for some reason, that was all. He was still mad she wouldn’t praise him for how awesome the Explosion here was, of course. It must not have been anything else. Surely, it couldn’t have been anything else.
After all, if it wasn’t for his pride, why else would he be so obsessed with getting this single person’s approval? Bakugou surely didn’t have an answer. Not yet.
At least the two of them could… kind of hold a conversation? She hadn’t taken many personal pot shots like she did that first time she had flipped him on his ass, but they weren’t exactly best buddies, and she still seemed to keep her distance from the blonde, much to his own annoyance. Still, at least if he needed to ask her something small, like if she had seen a certain classmate around that he needed to talk to, or if he missed a day or two from being sick and needed a brief summary of what they’d learned, the young woman would at least talk to him. It was a change of pace that he really didn’t mind, although… one he still wished was… just a little friendlier.
She got along well with just about everyone in class save for Mineta (for obvious reasons), and sometimes, maybe if even just as a courtesy, Katsuki would be invited along whenever some of them decided to hang out. Once, being the ever so responsible young adults of Class 1-A, Ashido managed to talk the somewhat shy young woman into going out drinking with some of their classmates, Bakugou managing to witness the talented student drink ‘til she was practically blind. Her sweating face and slurred rambling got a crack out of all of them as alcohol brought down a lot of her walls, the recommendations transfer cracking jokes, openly having discussions, and, in a move that he found both amusing and adorable, had even playfully jabbed a finger into his chest as she ever so boldly proclaimed:
“You-you better start bein’ nice to people, or-or I’ll kick yer ass, Splodey Boy!”
Of course the night eventually tanked when, in his own drunken stupor, the energetic explosive man challenged her to arm wrestling, and they wound up completely snapping the table they were dueling on. Thank god Momo had been with them to pay for both the flat surface and the countless glasses and dishes that had been sitting on it. That bar owner had been… understandably pissed as they all were thrown out for the evening.
Although, as fun as that had been, and also raised questions of why she was such an experienced drinker, a more recent event had been significantly… titillating for the hormonal young man. It had been during lunch break one Friday as Kirishima had been talking loud and proud as usual when the Hero trainee mentioned a new gym he had been working out at to try and bulk up some more, one that provided free access and use of equipment to anyone with either a Hero License, a Provisionary License, or an ID for a Hero school, which meant that they could all get pumped up on professional equipment that they wouldn’t usually have access to.
Bakugou had agreed to meet up with a few of his friends for a joint session, though upon arriving, there was a certain familiar face that he hadn’t quite expected. He’d walked in on the middle of Eijiro telling the recommendations student some of his work-out plans, and as her eyes met with the Explosion user’s, she had given him a nervous, small smile. “Hi Bakugou, I hope it’s ok if I tag along.” She’d said quietly, but even the acknowledgment of his presence without any hint of anger or annoyance was enough to make the blonde’s heart leap up into his throat. Being the tsundere that he was, the young man had quickly turned his head, trying to play it cool as he felt a warm burning in his pinkened cheeks. “Whatever, it’s not like I’m gonna throw you out or anything! You can come a-anytime you want, idiot!”
For once, or at least for the first time not being totally plastered, she graced him with a little laugh, and to try and save his last dregs of sanity he had quickly stomped off. Was the A/C even running? It was so hot in this damn place!
Constantly lifting heavy barbells eventually drove Katsuki to need a break, heart and adrenaline pumping as he took a few chugs from his water bottle, giving a moment to look around to see how the rest of their group was progressing. Ashido was currently heckling Kaminari for his inability to keep up with her pace on the treadmills, Sero working hard on his core ‘because he wanted killer abs like Eijiro’, and speaking of everyone’s favorite Red Riot-
Bakugou feels himself practically become alight. Being as supportive and friendly as he was, it only made sense that Kirishima would help play coach for his classmates, and currently his attention was all on a particularly sweaty young lady to help practice her deadlifts. “C’mon, feel that burn! We still have two more sets, so hang in there!” The red-headed man encourages, Katsuki unable to keep his eyes from drifting downwards, helpless against the sight of her thighs and glutes contracting and releasing with each squat, watching as her ass tightened as sweat rolled down her face.
Oh god, he’s sweating, boy oh boy is he fucking sweating, growing red up to the tips of his ears as his sweatpants suddenly become unbearably tight. Oh geez, oh hell, oh fuck-
He swore he saw Kirishima flash him a wink as Bakugou had to all but sprint to the bathroom before anyone could notice his frazzled state. For perfectly innocent reasons and nothing else, of course. Certainly not to take care of a particularly hard and throbbing problem, obviously not frantically jerking himself off as he bit down on his hand to muffle his neediest of sounds. Needless to say, as Katsuki came out to watch her arms flex and stretch as she lifted weights, in a distracted moment having her eyes scan the room to fall onto him, hair sticking to her forehead with sweat as she was starting to push herself to her limits and let out a struggling moan, the entrance to the bathroom was practically a revolving door for the rest of the day.
At least Bakugou had to admit, Eijiro was a lot more perceptive and craftier than the blonde had given him credit for. He would have to thank him later, whenever this blissful dizziness actually allowed him to think. M-maybe if Katsuki asked really nicely, he could get the young woman to come along with them again next time. Or rather, have Kirishima do it, as he now found it so much harder to look the young woman in the eye without his mind drifting to less than savory thoughts. It was a little hard for even the Explosion user to deny what was finally all too obvious; he’d caught feelings for his newest classmate.
But, if only he had realized at the time that those feelings ran deeper than just a little schoolyard crush, maybe he could have changed the events that had yet to come to pass…
—
The UA Sports Festival.
There was no denying what an incredibly important event this was, for its students or for its observers. The chance to make it big, to shine brightly on a massive stage broadcast world-wide, a chance for rookies to be recognized, a chance for Pros to find a new sidekick, a chance for the entire nation of Japan to see its newest, most daring up-and-coming Heroes.
Naturally, Bakugou couldn’t be more excited. He had been looking forward to this even before he had came to this school. As a child even, watching the Sports Festival became an event that nearly made him a fanatic, taping every second of every event, watching as the students of the one and only All Might’s alma mater proved to the world exactly why they deserved to be there.
And now, it was his turn.
He was all but buzzing with energy as all of 1A sat in their designated box, the blonde hardly able to sit still, the rest of his fellow classmates every bit as excited as they waited for their respective matches. Everyone was getting hyped up, the restlessness in the air palpable as every pair of eyes lit up with the same sense of wonder.
This was it! This was their first real chance to make it big as Heroes! Who would win? Who would lose? The suspense had everyone both excited and on edge. ‘Apprehension’ didn’t begin to describe it. Was there even a word for what they all felt?
Bakugou had a rare grin on his face, arms crossed as he sat in his chair, his certain special someone sitting directly in front of him, watching each match with an intense spirit, no doubt taking mental notes in case she wound up against any of these contestants in her own incoming matches. Katsuki took a moment to look at the tournament graph, the names that were listed and the way they were ordered. Excitement tingles on his skin as the explosive youth realized that if she won her first fight, her next match would be against him. The two of them had sparred here and there as part of their curriculum, but nothing like an all-and-out brawl like this Festival. He couldn’t help the way his pulse quickened in excitement. No, excitement was too much of an understatement. He was practically euphoric.
“Don’t get all psyched out before our match, got it?” Katsuki said with a playful edge in his tone, and the young woman turns in her chair to look back at him with a smile that welcomed his challenge and quickened his pulse. “Same goes to you, hothead.” She teases back, a competitive glint in her eyes. “I won’t go easy on you, so you better watch out!”
God, he can’t help but let out a chuckle, an all-too-familiar heat washing over him, an occurrence that had become all too common, more and more so with each passing week. The bringer of his flustered state turns back around to keep watching the match, but now he can’t help but stare at her, hopelessly doe-eyed. It was… so nice that they’d gotten closer, if even only a little, even if it wasn’t…. nearly as close as the young man wanted. Not nearly, nearly as close.
Cheers erupt all around as the latest fight had drawn to a conclusion, Bakugou and Uraraka standing up to go prepare for their own bout that was approaching all too soon, ready to hang out to the waiting room.
“Hey Bakugou, Uraraka!”
He couldn’t have cared much about Pink Cheeks, but hearing his… special friend say his name got his attention almost immediately, the blonde eagerly looking over to see her sweet, smiling face, a modest peace sign held up for the pair of them. “You two do your best! Have a great match!”
As if he hadn’t been bursting with energy before, her encouragement gets his dopamine and adrenaline practically skyrocketing. Well, if she would be watching, Katsuki definitely couldn’t let her down. He had to win, and he was gonna win big. Admittedly, even as he walked to his respsective waiting room, he couldn’t help but fantasize a little bit about how his favorite classmate would react to his imminent victory. She would have a big smile and cheer, giving him a big hug as he rejoined her and the rest of the class, maybe even… giving him a little peck on the cheek as she told him what an amazing job he did.
Yeah… that really did sound nice. He couldn’t lose when his sweetheart was watching, right? Even if… he didn’t call her that out loud. It was his special little secret, after all.
His confession would wait until after he’d won.
—–
Boos and sneers, insults and heckles. They replayed on repeat in the young man’s head, over and over again, every word from every single mouth sinking into him like a poisoned knife.
God, he was fuming. What kind of audience boos the winner?! Treating him like some kind of villain. It just made him so fucking mad he wanted to explode something! Just blast it to pieces! Just keep hitting and hitting until there was nothing left!
Body running on fury and adrenaline, the young man couldn’t contain his temper, turning on a heel to punch the nearest wall. The hard stone hurt his hand, but not nearly as much as he was hurting on the inside as he clenched his fists, hitting again and again and again. Blood seeps from his scraped and raw knuckles, and he swears he hears some kind of voice, but this burning hatred in his chest just wouldn’t dissipate. Why did everyone look down on him?! Why was nothing he did ever good enough?! Why
“Bakugou!”
A voice calls out to him loudly, its familiarity bringing him back from the depths of hate as suddenly, two hands grab him by the shoulders, pushing him away from the wall. It was that recommendations student again, her hands still poised against him. Anger bubbles up inside of the young man as he can only assume what she was going to say, and the blonde jerks away from her. “What, are you here to call me a Villain too?!” He snaps harshly, the possibility of that being what she wanted to say hurting him just a little bit more than he expected.
So of course, he was surprised when she shook her head, her expression growing sad. “No, I… I wanted to say I was sorry.”
Katsuki felt the anger drift away almost instantly at her soft expression, his posture relaxing as she seems to be thinking of what to say, scratching the back of her head. “It was really awful for all those people who don’t even know you to say things like that,” She starts, and for a reason he can’t explain the young man’s heart begins to thud. “and it made me so upset and angry, until… I realized I was one of them too. Back then, that one day…”
Oh, she must have been talking about the first time they had their little ‘fight’, an incident where she had once looked at him so angrily, and yet now the young Hero trainee looks ashamed. “I didn’t even know you either, and I was supposed to be your classmate, your… your friend. I just got angry and jumped to conclusions, and… I’ve learned more about you since then, and I know you really want to be a Hero just like the rest of us.”
That beating in his chest is almost impossible to ignore as she takes in a breath, starting to ramble a bit. “So… I’m really sorry. And I’m not mad at your fight against Uraraka or anything, either. Fighting her like that just meant you took her seriously. Honestly it would’ve been more insulting if you had held back. Or… not that you care what I think, but-“
“I do care what you think.”
Bakugou’s voice is quiet, and his eyes avert to the side as he finds himself… too nervous to look her in the eyes. “…Thanks. It’s… nice to know you don’t think I’m a scumbag anymore.”
“I never did.” For the first time they had ever spoken to each other, the young woman gives him a genuine, playful smile, and it’s just a little harder for him to breathe. “But you have to admit, you can be a total bastard.”
The blonde makes himself tear away from staring as he feels a warmth in his suddenly pink cheeks, clicking his tongue as he tried to quickly brush off his moment of vulnerability. “Yeah, well, I’d rather be a bastard than some cheesy sap!” He retorts, trying to reflect in his regular tsundere manner, but his classmate knows better at this point. She just gives a laugh, moving to pass him and giving a supportive pat on the shoulder as she did so, and he can’t help but feel electrified at her touch.
“I’m up after the next match, so wish me luck! And,” Her expression softens. “make sure to see Recovery Girl about your hands, ok? That looks like it hurts.”
One last little wave, and the young woman was once again on her way, and Bakugou can’t help but stop and stare, watching her until the very last moment she disappeared into the designated waiting room down the hall. The memories of her touch, her voice, her smile, all seemed to soak in to the depths of his mind as he simply stood there, a red color decorating his cheeks.
Now more than ever, he really, really hoped that, when the perfect time came, that he would know what to say.
—
Katsuki had his eyes all but glued to the female figure now down in the ring, wearing her typical long-sleeved gym uniform, technically out of season but one she preferred to wear, for whatever reason. Her face held a look of determination, focus, but also a smile as she looks up to her classmates, some of them cheering out words of encouragement from up high.
“You can do it, Y/N!” Deku called out.
“Show everyone those brand-new muscles of yours, you hear!” Cheered Eijiro.
“If you wanna fight hard enough that all your clothes get ripped off, that would be cool too!”
Bakugou was actually the one to cuff Mineta this time, a rare event considering how the blonde usually kept to himself, the taller man hovering over his perverted classmate with a warning glare of pure death that made the little cretin all but scurry to the other end of the box to mind his own business. Ugh, keep those gross comments for everyone else! he couldn’t help but think to himself, his now-common emotion of possessiveness welling up. Little creep! Ogle her again and then see what happens!!
Almost as if she knew he was thinking about her, the object of his affections looks up to him, their eyes meeting even from this distance. She holds up a fist with a smile, almost as if to say ‘better keep your eyes open, because I’m gonna win this thing!’
The young man allows himself to give a small, shy wave of encouragement. Couldn’t be too soft with all these extras around, after all. Plus, well… these kinds of feelings were new to him, OK?! Sure, he was hitting his ‘schoolboy crush’ faze a little late, but did that really matter?! He was trying, wasn’t he?!
Fuck, now his heart was starting to race again. He was turning into such a flustered mess all the time lately. After this tournament and he snagged that shiny first place medal, he was finally gonna talk to her, a nice big talk about all these thoughts and feelings swirling about in his head so badly he could hardly think about anything else. If anything, thinking about what the hell he was even going to say was 10 times more nerve-wracking than having to eventually fight Todoroki or Deku. Just had to pump himself up was all.
Yeah… he just had to win this thing first, and then the real challenge would begin. Everyone would see how amazing he is, he’d maybe get a few sidekick offers, some great internship opportunities, and she would be so impressed with him. It would be perfect. She would finally be his girl and everything would be perfect.
“AAAAALLLLLRIGHT PARTY PEOPLE!!” Present Mic explodes over the intercom in his regular energetic enthusiasm. “It’s finally time for our next match, yo, so be sure to tune it!”
A palpable excitement floods the stadium as all eyes are now on the ring.
“From Class 1A and a student whose one of my personal favorites, the emissary of energy, the princess of power, put your hands up for Y/N!”
The young woman’s classmates once again erupt into encouraging whoops and hollers, Bakugou feeling a bit of pride for how good she looked down there, confident and standing tall, every bit as determined to win as he would be for his own matches. Her opponent, on the other hand, must’ve been some newer student, since Katsuki didn’t recognize him at all. Then again, he didn’t really bother with anyone outside of his own class anyways.
“And on the other end of the ring, calling in from Class 1B, give it up for Tōtsūtaro Kyōyu!“
The guy was kind of lanky looking, not much muscle, with wild black hair. Class 1B, huh? Yeah, he was definitely brand new. Maybe since 1A had gotten an extra student, they made an exception for the other first year class as well?
Bakugou couldn’t help but let out an amused exhale from his now. This was going to be a slaughter.
“Get ready, get set, annnnnd….. BEGIN!”
She was the first one to attack, a blast of light only just barely missing the other person in the ring as he dives out of the way. With a Quirk that let her take in energy from all manner of things, electricity, sunlight, or even her own stamina, and then store them in her body to release in a multitude of ways, this kid better have something real good up his sleeve to have any chance of winning. Even as a top student, the blonde himself had spent many nights lying awake in bed at night, wondering how he would be able to handle such a Quirk. For… personal reasons.
God, Katsuki was getting tingles. He always got so amped up whenever he would watch her spar with others in class. What would she look like to fully let loose and give it all she’s got? The anticipation was torture. Ugh, he wanted to fight her, right now!!
Her opponent however looks significantly less enthusiastic, running and sliding all over the ring just to avoid being blown away by her long-ranged attacks. As pathetic as a strategy as Bakugou thought it was, it wasn’t a completely stupid idea. This 1B guy was probably trying to get her to exhaust some of her stamina and wear herself out before he swooped in for the final blow. A cowardly plan, but one that may give him a fighting chance.
Or at least, that would have been the case if she hadn’t been such an adept fighter.
Predicting the young man’s movements wasn’t hard to do, and a well-placed shot fired at his feet knocked the challenger flat on his ass. He scrambles to recover, but she’s already redirecting energy into her legs to increase her speed, closing in fast and giving him little time to prepare. His only choice is the block as she delivers a kick, but even so the force is enough to knock her across the battlefield, skidding on the ground mere feet from being out of bounds. Her follow through is equally as harsh, wasting little time before going after him again, keeping her opponent on his toes as he stays on the defensive.
It was a pretty one-sided fight, the winner already obvious, but Bakugou couldn’t help but wonder; why was this guy choosing to defend instead of attack? Half the time it almost seemed like he let himself get hit, or chose to block and stagger through it when he could have evaded altogether.
Something about this… was giving him a weird feeling.
His suspicions weren’t exactly eased when the young man down in the ring seemed to suddenly adjust his posture, his hands hanging in the air, fingers twitching, his breaths becoming more controlled as suddenly that ‘weak and helpless’ look of panic that had been on his face completely disappeared.
“Uh oh, listeners! Sounds to me like this fight is about to dial it up!!” Present Mic riots excitedly from the speakers. “Tōtsūtaro Kyōyu, his Quirk: Pain Bond! He can take the fatigue and injuries from himself and his opponent sustained within a certain period of time and divide it up between them however he wants, but the trade off is that he has to get some of their injuries in return! Yeowch! Talk about a rough deal!”
Realizing the other student’s plan, Bakugou couldn’t help but shake his head. “Ha! There’s no way he’d win, even with something like that! He can split shit up however he wants and he still wouldn’t be tough enough. He’ll be knocked out on the ground before he can even think of scheming somethin’ up.” The blonde proclaims, quick to prop his feet up on the chair in front of him with a smug grin plastered across his face. “Might as well take a nap till it’s my turn to fight; it’s not like this will take long.”
He was trying to relax and enjoy the rest of the fight when Bakugou felt a pair of eyes on him, feeling a twinge of annoyance to see Deku peering over with a small, knowing grin. “What the hell do you think you’re starin’ at, nerd?!” He’s quick to snap, the green-haired youth giving a nervous chuckle. “Well, I was just thinking, you act like the other person is just weak, but isn’t this kind of your way of saying you think she’s too strong to lose?”
A vein of annoyance pops on the blonde’s forehead, a pinkness spreading across his face as he snaps back angrily. “Shut your mouth, you damn nerd! You wanna die?!”
Midoriya just laughs, his smile fading some when he turned his attention back to the ring. “I think so too, but, it’s weird… she looks really nervous for some reason.”
As much as Katsuki didn’t want to admit it, the nerd was right. From down in the stadium, he could see his classmate suddenly appear to sweat, eyes widening a bit, a bob in her throat as she swallowed. What the…? What did she think she had to be nervous about? She would have way more stamina than this guy, especially with her Quirk, so why did she suddenly look so… afraid?
There’s a different voice over the speakers now, the more subdued and quiet of the two announcers speaking up with his own commentary. “I see. Tōtsūtaro was letting himself be hit so he could accumulate damage to give back to his opponent.” Aizawa states, voice a bit muffled by the bandages on his face from the USJ attack he had been injured in. “He’ll probably give her as much of that pain as he possibly can, creating minimum risk for himself and maximum punishment for who he’s fighting. After that, it’ll all come down to whomever has the most endurance and the strongest resolve.”
Ugh… the more he heard and saw, the more Bakugou didn’t like this. It didn’t help that someone else was as equally unsettled, that person being his classmate in the midst of a fight. This… this wasn’t good, she found herself thinking. There wasn’t much of a choice but to try and crush her opponent before he used his Quirk, because, even if she wasn’t exactly positive what would happen, there was an aspect of his power that deeply unsettled her. He would receive injuries of hers? What was the limit for how recent they had to be? Would they… physically show up on his body?
After all, unlike her, Kyōyu wore short sleeves.
She had to take him down before he used his ability. The thought loops on end in her head as she begins another charge. She had to completely let loose, to channel as much power as she safely could into her fist to completely knock him out of the ring in a single hit before he had the chance. She had to. She had to. She had t-
The young man claps his hands together, and there’s a flash of light that envelops his entire body, a similar effect blinking through his opponent. The sudden ‘impact’ of exhaustion and pain and fatigue makes her lose her footing, tripping and rolling to a stop on the ground. She had to get up! She’s on her feet as quickly as she can possibly muster, movements significantly more lethargic and agonizing as she needed to end this fight as quickly as possible before anything else could happen!
But the instant he had called upon his Quirk, that ability taking effect, Tōtsūtaro stopped moving, his expression quickly shifting to one of distress. Spectators could hear a pin drop in the stadium as everyone’s eyes dropped downward. “W-what is this….” Kyōyū gulped, the young man’s pupils shrinking as he slowly raised his arms. “What did you do?”
Countless cuts cover both of the student’s arms in various stages of healing, nothing fatally deep but enough to bleed and scab. Enough to hurt. It was self-harm, unmistakable and deliberate.
The audience explodes into a mess of clashing voices and conversations, erupting into gossip and whispers. She feels frozen as her eyes look all around, to the countless, countless people, to the cameras positioned on the sidelines, to her teachers sitting up in their box, her class. It’s like all the oxygen is quickly and violently sucked out of her lungs. It wasn’t just from the effects of exhaustion and pain from her opponent’s Quirk that causes the young woman to collapse to her knees, dropping her head to look at her trembling, shaking hands. It was this exact scenario that she had been so afraid of. This was so much more than her secret being revealed to her class, revealed to everyone. She was humiliated, on national television. Everyone in the world could see how weak and pitiful she was, as if her precious friends and teachers weren’t horrible enough. As if all the Pro Heroes she idolized wasn’t enough. Were her parents out there, watching their child fall apart from the comfort of their own home?
What had she been doing all this time? She can’t even bring herself to stand back up. It feels like there’s no point anymore.
“WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING?!”
Bakugou couldn’t help but run up to the railing, slamming his hands down onto the ledge as he let out a scream, making damn sure the heroine could hear him from the ring. “WHY ARE YOU JUST STANDING THERE?! HURRY UP AND WASTE THIS GUY!”
“K-Kacchan!” Midoriya rushes up to him, grabbing his sleeve. “Something like this isn’t the time to-“
With a sweep of his arm, the smaller man is harshly shoved away, the red eyes of his childhood friend focused solely on the girl in the stadium without giving Izuku a second thought. He could see so many emotions welling up in the blonde’s expression; confusion, anger, sorrow, worry. How could Deku possibly blame him, when he felt the same?
Had that voice been Bakugou…? What had he said…? The young woman couldn’t focus. Her entire world was collapsing, the stadium seeming to start to rock and sway, spinning around her, faster, faster, the weight of her despair beginning to crush her. She’s unable to speak, unable to move, unable to think-
Katsuki can see that something is off, but he’s too angry to think rationally. He knew she could do better than this! He knew she was strong! How dare some little wimp pull something like this when she could kill him in an instant if she wanted to?! She had to hurry up and show him what happens to anyone who tried to make a fool out of her!! Furious, stressed, heartbroken, the young man takes in a big gulp of air, and calls out.
“DAMN IT, STOP SCREWING AROUND AND ACTING SO WEAK! YOU CAN STILL WIN THIS!”
Weak. A single word spoken from her classmate’s lips hit the young woman like a bullet and tears begin to stream down her cheeks. Even her own classmate thought she was just a pathetic loser. That’s what everyone thought. Every single person here.
Her strength leaves her instantly, her psyche crumbling, thoughts spinning, bile rising in her throat. She’s in pain, and she can’t breathe. She can’t breathe, she can’t breathe, she can’t breathe, she can’t breathe she can’t breathe she can’t breathe she can’t breathe she can’t breathe she can’t breathe she can’t breathe she can’t breathe she can’t breathe she can’t breathe she can’t breathe SHE JUST CAN’T
It all becomes far too much, and her body falls to the ground. A chilling silence falls over the stadium as Midnight hesitantly steps into the ring, kneeling down to examine the student as Bakugou felt his heart twist.
“She’s-“The umpire’s breathless voice is broadcast through a horrible, desolate quiet. “She’s fainted.” The R-Rated Hero states with a pained tone in her voice, and slowly she stood to her feet, expression conflicted as she took a moment to clear her throat before raising her whip in the air. “The match has been decided! With his opponent unconscious, Tōtsūtaro Kyōyu is the winner!”
Spectators unsure whether to cheer or boo look down at the young man still in the ring, two of Recovery Girl’s nurses coming forward with a stretcher to lift the fallen female onto it as disjointed applause slowly breaks out. The victor looks absolutely mortified, staring down at his cut arms with the guilt of the world on his shoulders. “I-I didn’t want to win like this…” He chokes out, but Bakugou feels nothing but hatred as he watches the heroine be slowly carted away. “This is fucking bullshit!”
There’s a brief moment and a couple of footsteps before Katsuki feels a small hand slap him hard across the face, Ochako’s brows furrowed in anger. “What’s wrong with you?!” She cries out, eyes welling up with water as Asui steps forward to try and calm her, but the brunette speaks out again. “She just got embarrassed in front of the whole country, let alone having everyone find out about something personal like that, and you kick her while she’s down?!” The Gravity Hero looks all but ready to spit in his face, her hands clenched into shaking fists down at her sides. “Do you ever think of anyone but yourself?!”
Bakugou can’t think of what to say, and the odd feeling in his chest only grows when he scans the box to see most of his classmates looking at him with disgust and disappointment. Even Kirishima gave a heavy sigh as he ruffles his red hair, frustrated with the overall situation. “Yeesh man, I know you wanted to show everyone how tough you are and all but… there’s a time and a place, you know? You should think more about what you say.”
“I-I didn’t…!” The blonde doesn’t even know what to say, and his rage is starting to give way to something else. He… he hadn’t meant to try and hurt her! He had just wanted… he had just wanted…!
…What exactly did he want from her, anyways? A friend? A rival? A… lover? A soulmate?
It was… all too much to think about, and unable to face the looks of judgment from his friends, the blonde felt like he had no choice but to leave. Briefly he hears Izuku call out for him, but everything is so fuzzy that he can’t even make out the words. All he can think about is the look on her face, how she had looked so sad, so scared
…and then he had opened his mouth without thinking and it destroyed her. The way her expression had just dropped when he had said those things was tearing him up inside, and his legs are moving on their own as he heads to where he knows Recovery Girl’s temporary office inside the stadium would be. He had to say he was sorry. He had to do something to make this right, or this awful feeling in his chest would never go away!
But when he all but barges in, the school’s nurse is by herself, nothing but empty cots. The old woman’s eyes seem to narrow a bit as they turn on him, and she simply shakes her head. “Your classmate isn’t here anymore.” Chiyo states, taking a moment to remake a newly-ruffled bed. “She had only fainted for a few minutes. I told her to stay and rest but she insisted on going home the second she regained consciousness. Left before I could say much to stop her.” Her tone is very matter-of-fact, but there’s a sadness in it. “You… should probably give her some time. I imagine she’s in an awful lot of pain right now.”
Katsuki just stands there like a mannequin, unmoving, expressionless, guilt brewing inside of him. She… wasn’t going to stay to watch the rest of the Festival…? But… but she had been looking forward to this so much! Had he done this? Had she been silently suffering this entire time, and he had been the one to send her over the edge? God, is that why she had gotten so trashed that one night at the bar, because she was depressed?
He wants to throw up, scream, cry, but not a sound escapes him as he wordlessly turns back around, leaving the nurse’s office without so much as a word. Every step feels impossibly heavy, the hallway stretching in front of him for what seemed like miles, daunting and never-ending. Suddenly he didn’t want to be here either. He didn’t even care about this-this stupid Sports Festival anymore. He wanted to see her again. He NEEDED to see her again.
The young man’s feet carried him with a will of their own back towards the stadium locker with all of his things, his clothes, his phone. A deathgrip on the device, Bakugou can’t stop himself from going into the Class’ groupchat, scrolling through the list of usernames until he found the particular person he was looking for: the newest addition to the group who still had a green ‘online’ symbol beside their chat handle. Without hesitation, he taps to activate private messaging.
where are you
can we talk
There was no reply, even when he took the time to wait for something, anything at all, watching minute after minute tick by with anguish.
say something
are you OK
please answer
I’m sorry
This awful painful radio silence merely persisted, that green dot next to her username haunting him like a specter of his own guilt as he all but broke out into a sweat, inklings of fear and panic bubbling up inside of him, thick and heavy and awful. He couldn’t think of anything else but her.
please just say something
I didn’t mean it please talk to me
I’m really sorry
just let me know you’re ok at least
please
I’m sorry
Finally there was movement, but not the kind he was wanting. The icon next to the young woman’s username changed into a faded grey, signaling that she had logged out or turned off her phone. Bakugou’s hands are shaking as they cradle his phone, watching, waiting, hoping maybe if he just has patience, that she’ll respond. Maybe she had just set herself on ‘invisible’, but would still reply?
No… that really was too naïve of him, wasn’t it? Katsuki hurts and doesn’t even realize how badly until drops of water plip down onto the screen of his mobile device, and no matter how much he tries to wipe these frustrated painful tears away, more and more appear. Why did his stupid pride have to come along and ruin everything? Was she ever even going to speak to him again after something like this? Would she even be able to see him as even just a friend after how badly he’d hurt her?
Did he even have any chance of being together with her now?
Ten minutes later and not a single letter or even an emoji was sent back, and by then he’s back into his regular clothes, eyes still practically glued to his phone, just in case. He no longer felt a point in being here, not when he wasn’t wanted, not when it didn’t matter to him anymore, not when he couldn’t even think about the tournament anymore as his special one consumed his thoughts. He had just wanted her to be there to see how strong he was, to try and impress her, and instead, he had just driven her away, driven her deeper into the bowels of her own personal hell.
Damn it, damn it, damn it! Tears were threatening to return to his eyes as the blonde finally sets off, dragging his feet down the hallway as he slowly began to make his way out of the building.
“Kacchan, wait!”
Bakugou doesn’t care enough to stop, or even slow down, eyes still on his phone even as a blur of green pops up in his peripheral vision, Izuku walking fast to keep his pace with his classmate. “Why are you out of your uniform? Where are you going?” His friend questions with obvious concern, and it takes him only a glance downward to see the phone, the IM still open, a wall of messages from a single side but none from the other, the name of the contact written loud and clear on the top. He instantly knew what he was looking at.
“Are you… just going to leave? B-because of what happened?” Deku asks quietly, and it was to this that Katsuki bothered looking up, and his green-haired friend can see his eyes are swollen and red. It… was a look he had rarely ever seen before, enough to make Midoriya halt in his tracks as the blonde just… kept walking.
“Tell them…” Bakugou began, not realizing how hoarse his voice had gotten in the last half hour from his screams and wails of anger and hopeless frustration, the decimated lockers, tables, and chairs in the waiting room proof of that. His head hurts, his pride hurts, his heart hurts, and all he can think about is her, her, her.
“Tell them I forfeit. I’m going home; I got shit I need to do.”

There was a constantly empty seat in Class 1-A.
No one had the heart to bring it up, even as they caught each other glancing to the abandoned desk that sat beside Midoriya. None of them had any idea what to say. What could they say? ‘Oh boy, it really sucks how the whole world found out our classmate is hurting herself on a national broadcast, she probably wants to kill herself, see you at lunch’?
The entirety of Class 1-A was stagnating in their own hesitancy.
Those close to him were beginning to notice a change in Katsuki, notice the way he arrived earlier to school, all but rushing into the room and expression visibly wilting as, again and again, their class was one short. At first she was gone for just a few days before the weekend hit, and while he had worried, he tried to convince himself that she just needed time alone to calm down and think.
But she hadn’t shown up for school in a full week, and now it was starting to crush him.
He felt like he was starting to go crazy.
Where was she? What was she doing? Was she safe? Had anyone from UA talked to her? Was she hurt? Had she hurt herself? Was she in the hospital? Was she even alive?
Bakugou was beginning to crack. He just wanted to make sure she was OK. He just wanted to make sure she wasn’t hurt.
Why wasn’t anyone at this damn school saying anything?! Why did no one seem to care?! It was starting to make him absolutely furious, to the point where he couldn’t even bring himself to speak to anyone. Kirishima kept trying to coax something out of him, and that damn nerd Deku of course, of fucking course, just had to keep asking so many questions. The young man who had once immediately responded with aggression or shouting was now a silent, shallow husk of his former self.
On the Monday of the second full week after the Sports Festival, when Katsuki rushed to class to see that desk empty once again, he’d finally had it. The unknown was just too much. He couldn’t go on like this, not for one second longer. The rest of 1-A and their teacher, all sitting around as the start of class was only minutes away, find Bakugou absent as well, and for good reason.
After all, he still had some things to prepare for, and with a little extra ‘help’.
For once, Bakugou was grateful to share a class with such a disgusting little pervert.
There had been a particular day in the past week or so where Mineta had been bragging and boasting about how much dirt he had on his female classmates. It was a conversation that Katsuki had begun eavesdropping on the very second the creep invited Sero and Kaminari closer to him, waving around a slip of paper with writing on it as he deviously whispered:
“I’ve even got all their addresses.”
It wasn’t hard for Bakugou to steal the little cheat-sheet the second Minoru left his things unattended, and sure enough, his darling’s name was on there, address and apartment number written down and, much like all of the other girls’ names and homes, had hearts scribbled all around it.
It immediately summoned such an anger and disgust within him that Katsuki wanted to spit. Had that gross ass little shit been stalking his sweetheart? Who the fuck did he think he was? She was his, his, all his!
Needless to say, the blonde quickly made himself a personal copy and in that same day gave the original notes back. To Aizawa, that is, the teacher understandably becoming angered at the newest development in the notorious creeper’s long list of harassment, with this entry being gross, yes, creepy, yes, but also oh so very illegal.
Two birds, one stone, really. Bakugou built up a little bit of trust and goodwill as he was thanked by his fuming mentor, the Pro quick to storm off afterwards, the blonde assumed to either find the little purple perpetrator or straight to the Principal himself. It had been nasty enough, finding out the Mineta was so horrendously indulgent enough to follow around his classmates and friends, but his darling too? Let the bastard get expelled. He hoped he got thrown in a fucking cell to rot. If the blonde hadn’t been carefully keeping a low profile as of late, if he had more time, he would’ve beaten the fucker within an inch of his life with his own two hands.
But now Bakugou had an address to visit, so he had to at least thank the little creep for saving the blonde some work. It was taking time to set certain things up, the young man grateful for already having a decent amount of money set aside from odd jobs and favors before all this crazy shit began. Without it, his little plan would have taken even longer, and it had already been agonizing not to run to her house as soon as he had the list, but he knew that all of this waiting was going to be worth it soon, very, very soon.
Things would get a little tricky once they hit the final stage, but Katsuki was determined. He was going to take responsibility for all of this. He was finally going to make things right.
—
Now, back in the present on this very eventful Tuesday morning, while ditching school really wasn’t something Bakugou wanted to do, it was going to be a busy day for him, and he would need all the free-time he could get. He’d already ran out the day before, and for now had called in sick with a bullshit story about how he wasn’t feeling well, making himself sound all exhausted and sickly and pitiful, even going so far as to shove fingers down his throat to make himself vomit while one of his teachers was still on the phone with him. The performance paid off, and he was even advised to ‘take as long as he needed, until he felt better’.
Oh, he would feel better soon, all right.
Ruby eyes scan the sheet of paper again and again and again as his heart flutters in his chest while he drove. Katsuki had rented a car for the next few days for personal reasons, paying for it in cash, making sure to take the less crowded, more run-down roads that would be less likely to have traffic cameras, not that he would be filmed anyways unless he or some other idiot ran a light or something.
The closer he got to his destination, the more nervous he was starting to get. Bakugou was going to see her, and he could not only finally properly apologize to her face, but they were going to at last have the talk that’s been repeating and repeating and repeating on end in his head obsessively for months.
Whatever happened next he told himself he was already prepared for, but… the young man sure couldn’t stop himself from hoping that she would be just as happy as he was going to be.
–
It was a relatively short drive, Katsuki stepping out of his vehicle with his hood up, looking around with narrowed eyes as he locked the car behind him. This… really wasn’t the best neighborhood to live in, was it? The place screamed ‘bad part of town’, with some buildings old or abandoned, broken windows on boarded up store-fronts, some screaming argument off in the distance that sounded chillingly like a domestic disturbance. Maybe his classmate had picked an apartment here for some cheap rent to save money before she came to UA, but… the Hero college would pay the rent of its students who decided to stay in their original homes off campus anyways. He couldn’t help but wish she had taken advantage of that and moved somewhere… safer. She didn’t deserve to live in such a dark, dingy place. Not his darling.
Well, not that she would have to deal with this gross place much longer. The thought made him smile a he starts to approach the building that he knows is hers, but a man’s voice reaches his ears and he can’t help but stop.
“Hey hey hey, no need to be so rough with the lil thing! I think she gets the point, right sweetheart?”
From in-between this building and the next, right beside him lies an alleyway, and what sounds like a group of men laughing with another person who sounded suspiciously familiar coughing and hacking causes a hole to start forming in his stomach, his Hero’s intuition screaming at him. Surely they were talking to someone else, anyone else, Katsuki tells himself as he approaches the mouth of the alley step by step. That was probably just some other chick who sounded like she was choking, surely it wouldn’t be this big of a coincidence, surely that person wasn’t
…What in the hell?
Bakugou blinks in case he’s seeing things, but what he’s seeing stays the same.
They have a young woman surrounded, around seven grown men who easily towered over their victim on the ground, all with looks of pure depravity upon their faces. “Hey doll,” One of the more muscular ones all but purrs. “there’s no need to get all feisty with us. Don’t y’all want some friendly company?”
Hunched over, arms wrapped around her stomach and still trying to catch her breath as if she’d been punched in the gut so hard it made her puke, a telltale puddle on the concrete beside her that proved his assumption.
Weakly, slowly, the young woman raises her head.
It’s his darling.
One of the men, the largest and closest that stood right in front of her, held a pistol in between his fingers, giving it a twirl. “Feelin’ friendlier now, baby?” Says the same man who had apparently spoken just moments before, the same one who had caught Bakugou’s attention before he went inside the apartment complex. His classmate says nothing, her eyes locked downwards onto the ground, looking blank, empty. She says nothing. She doesn’t move.
A smacking sound, Bakugou beginning to shake with pure anger as the man slapped her across the face with his gun, the young woman remaining lying on the ground umoving before her assailant painfully sinks his fingers into her hair, yanking her to sit back upright, the firearm now pointing directly into her temple. She was still conscious, now with a swelling on her cheek and a nosebleed, tears slowly starting to trickle down her face, and still, she sits there, doing nothing.
Katsuki can’t understand why she isn’t trying to defend herself, and suddenly he’s scared, not of the men, but of that look in her eyes, an expression that had haunted him for weeks.
It was the same dead, lonely, sad cry for help that she’d had on that fateful day of the Sports Festival.
“Just be a good slut and open your mouth for me already, damn it!”
Overwhelming revulsion wracks Katsuki’s body so hard he can barely see straight. The criminal still had the barrel of the gun jammed into his classmate’s head and now, a free hand fussing to undo his belt. No, no, no, hell fucking no! She still wasn’t moving, and finally unfrozen from the shock, he couldn’t bear to watch another single second of this. With a near-deafening explosion, Bakugou flies at the assailant at near-terminal velocity, drop-kicking the creep hard enough that he soars back to hit a brick wall, the sound of him hitting the concrete echoing with a wet crack before he crumples to the ground. The rest of the rag-tag group of thugs look to the explosive young man with mixtures of fear and anger, but against his rage they hardly have any chance to react, and by the time he approaches his downed classmate, the blonde has blood all over him. Not any of it his own, of course.
As a fellow hero-in-training, of course she was accustomed to violence, but how gruesomely the other UA student had fought and no doubt killed most if not all of her assailants was… concerning. They were both trying to learn to protect people, and yet he had completely lost control of himself. He could have taken them down with just his fists if he really couldn’t keep calm, but instead, he’d gone overboard, his Quirk leaving some of the men in pieces. This level of anger and savage violence… she wasn’t sure if she could feel safe around someone capable of this.
The young woman blinks and slowly sits up, wiping some of the nosebleed onto the sleeve of her old jacket as the blonde looks to her wordlessly, staring, fixated, his breathing heavy, pupils blown wide. It seemed that neither of them really knew what to say, the pair of classmates standing there in awkward, tense silence as clouds began to gather overhead with a rumble of thunder.
“Why didn’t you fight back?!”
It was after the longest silence that Bakugou practically choked out some of the words wreaking havoc in his brain. His brow is furrowed and angry, face beginning to turn red. “I know you’re strong, so why? Why were you just sitting there and letting them pummel you like that?!”
His classmate says nothing and turns her head, and the blonde can feel his blood pressure rising as she won’t even look at him. He feels like he’s about to explode as he hauls the young woman up to stand by her arm, grabbing her by the shoulders to shake her. “Damn it, do you think this is a fucking joke?! One of them had a gun; they could’ve fucking killed you!”
“And I wish they had!”
Katsuki can see the pain in her eyes and it breaks his heart; it breaks him. Her words leave him so stunned that his grip weakens, and the way she shoves him away makes him feel cold. This young woman with tears in her eyes seemed like such a far cry from his strong, brave classmate that he had been so eager to fight at the start of the schoolyear. Seeing her start to cry like this… it brought back that awful feeling in his chest, that coiled tension of heat that blossomed from within and felt like it could burst out every time she was near. Something about this time, though… it was different. Something about seeing her hurting like this made him feel… hollow.
“Don’t-“ Bakugou feels his voice crack, and he can’t understand why his hands are shaking. He doesn’t like this feeling. He can’t stand it. “Don’t you dare say some stupid shit like that! You don’t mean that, you idiot!”
The sound that echoes out seems impossibly loud as her fist connects with the side of his face, enough to make the blonde stagger backwards, nearly falling over. “Fuck you!” His classmate all but screams as Katsuki stands there in a stunned silence, and tears stream down her cheeks from angry eyes. “As if you would fucking know! With everyone always telling you how strong and smart and amazing you are all the time, as if you would fucking know what it’s like to feel worthless! Even Midoriya can’t stop talking about you, even when you insult him and make him feel like garbage! But me, I try everything I can, I try until I’m tearing myself apart, and it doesn’t make a single fucking difference! I don’t matter to anybody! I don’t even matter to myself!”
Bakugou can’t remember how to breathe, all the air knocked out of his lungs with her words, thrown at him like knives. She’s trembling all over, as if struggling to keep every last tear and sob contained, struggling to keep from completely losing her mind.
He… doesn’t know what to do. His heart hurts, so, so much.
Katsuki was still fighting internally to try and figure out these strange emotions of his when the young heroine finally spoke again. “Just leave me alone.” Her voice is quiet, strained, and the way her voice cracks is all too telling. “I don’t want your help.” She affirms softly, sadly, turning her back on him and starting to walk back towards her apartment. “I don’t need anyone trying to save me when I don’t even want to save myself.”
The final heartstring snaps and Bakugou falls apart and breaks. His body moves on its own as he grabs the young woman from behind, forcing his forearm to her throat in a chokehold. She gives out a startled gasp for air, hands desperately clutching and clawing at him in confusion as the blonde starts to apply pressure. “This isn’t how this was supposed to go,” He whispers. “but I can’t just let you go off and hurt yourself. Not again.” His voice is surprisingly soft as his classmate continues to struggle, the heroine getting weaker and weaker from lack of oxygen. “I won’t be like all those idiots in our class. I won’t just sit back and watch you die.”
Her nails dig into the skin of his arm, but it’s just a weak protest at this point, the young woman’s body finally slumping into Katsuki’s grip as she at last loses consciousness. That anxious, flustered feeling in his chest thrums hard as a nervous hand tentatively pets her hair, looking down at his classmate who looked so sweet and peaceful now that she was lost in the depths of slumber. “Sorry,” The blonde found himself apologizing to a person who couldn’t hear, moving to take her body into his arms with the utmost of care. “this is the only thing I could think of.”
—
Bakugou was preparing himself for how badly his classmate would react when she finally woke up, not that he could really blame her. The house the blonde had been living alone in came with a finished basement, and over the past few weeks it had been undergoing… certain renovations. The blonde was currently watching her sleep, the female hero-in-training tucked in on a soft bed with thick covers in a padded room, the cloth and padding seamlessly affixed to the walls less for safety and more for soundproofing purposes. There were a few pieces of furniture added in like a dresser and a nightstand beside the bed, a solid and thick wooden door that was exceptionally sturdy accessorized with several locks. Honestly he would have liked to make it nicer but the blonde had to throw much of this together on short notice.
Well… if one considered several weeks of careful planning ‘short notice’. It was what happened at the Sports Festival and the following anguish since that had prompted for some of the… security matters. Even if taking her had been spur of the moment at the time when he had done it… in honesty, having to kidnap the young woman he felt so many strong emotions for was something he had been anticipating anyways, and the glorified prison he had turned his basement into was premeditated proof of that, even if he could only barely grasp why he even felt so… obsessive.
“Nngh…”
A soft groan, the young woman shifting as she’s slowly coming back into consciousness, her eyes cracking open just the smallest bit. Katsuki is there, sitting on the mattress beside her nice and attentive, and he reaches out, petting her hair with a quiet voice. “Hey, babe… how’re you feeling?“
The way her eyes shoot wide open was to be expected, and she snaps upright and away from him so strongly that she tumbles backward off the edge of the bed, frantically moving to stand. “Where am I?! Is this an institution?! Did you have me committed?!” She asks in a panic, eyes darting around the room with padded walls, then down at herself to find that her wrists were wrapped in bandages, and though the rest of her clothes were the same, her tattered jacket had been replaced by a hoodie just a little too long to be hers, its owner standing right in front of her and feeling an odd sense of pleasant domesticity in seeing her wearing his clothes.
And then there was the bracelet. A bangle on her right wrist, secured tightly enough that it didn’t slide around, positioned above all of the cuts to avoid irritating or opening them. It was a simple metal hoop with some slight padding on the inside so it didn’t scrape, but she could tell, immediately, that something about it was horribly, horribly wrong.
“Calm down.” Bakugou says with a level-tone, trying to de-escalate the situation, and he can see all too well the way her eyes flew to look at the door, the blonde taking a wide step to come between the young woman and her exit. “This ain’t a hospital; it’s your new place.”
“My what?” She’s in disbelief, and with a quick pat down of her jeans she can tell that her phone, wallet, and housekeys are all gone. The fear and panic is beginning to overwhelm her, tears running swiftly down her cheeks, her breathing getting faster and faster as if she’s about to hyperventilate. Katsuki makes a move to approach her, and in fear she throws out both of her hands to try and send him flying back with her power in self-defense.
…yet all that leaves her fingers is a pathetic little twinkle of light. Her Quirk isn’t working the way it should be. It isn’t working at all.
Naturally she yelps as Bakugou is suddenly right in front of her, grabbing her, wrapping his arms around her in a way that pinned her arms helplessly against her, keeping her body angled in his grip that made it hard for her to keep her balance and try to kick him, not that it caused her desperate struggling to cease. The blonde can’t help but be hurt at her reaction, but he knows that it’s all over now that she’s finally here, and he keeps her held against him in a restraining embrace as she fights and squirms, strong but not as strong as him as he keeps her still with his physical strength alone.
“Let go! Damn it, let fucking go!” The young woman cries out, face wet with tears as her struggling is getting weaker and weaker by the second as she has to gasp for air through the sobs. With his hands occupied keeping her held tight, Bakugou can only press his face against hers, resting his cheek on her soft hair. It smelled just as nice as he had hoped. “Get away from me…!” She wails, still trying to use all of her combat training but effectively pinned, unable to kick her legs hard enough off to the side to cause him any real damage. It’s like fighting against a brick wall of pure muscle, and as hard as she strains and pushes to try and free her arms, no good comes of it except merely exhausting her.
There’s only so much of her strength left as Katsuki feels her sag in his grip, and the blonde slowly lets the two of them drop down to the floor to sit. Even if she got loose from him, the thick door that served as her only exit was shut and locked, the key hidden somewhere on his person, a fact that let him relax just a bit more, and she stiffens as he can’t help but pull her into his chest for a more proper embrace, nuzzling his face into her neck, breath heavy and hot against her skin.
“I was so worried about you…” He admits quietly. “After what happened at the Sports Festival, I tried to talk to you over and over, and you never said a single thing back.” The hug gets just a little tighter. “And then, when I finally get to see you, you say all this shit about how much you want to die, how you don’t matter… You were even gonna let those-those fucking disgusting creeps hurt you without even trying to fight back.”
“I-I just said that because I was upset…” She tries to lie, hoping somehow she can talk her way out of this. “I-I’m OK now. I can just go home and sleep it off.” The young woman forces a fake laugh. “See? I’m-I’m OK, so why don’t you let me just grab my keys and I can-“
“You don’t get it!” Bakugou suddenly snaps, and his hold is practically bruising, his arms wrapped fully around her, clutching her tightly. “You… you’re not gonna leave. You’re living here with me now, where you can’t hurt yourself anymore. I-I-I can’t-“ It sounds like he’s about to cry, and there’s a tremble in his shoulders, something in his voice that she couldn’t help but feel pity for. “I can’t lose you. You’re one of the only things that’s important to me.”
“We-we’re just friends. You’re-you’re not making any sense…” The young woman manages to choke and stutter out, starting to enter a state of shock as she’s almost too confused and scared to move.
“I don’t have to be making sense when I finally know how I feel.” Katsuki says bluntly, and at last he pulls away, his pupils wide and cheeks flushing red. His hands fly to grab the sides of her face, pulling her forward as he suddenly presses his lips up against hers, hungry and desperate. She doesn’t kiss him back, naturally, but that doesn’t stop him from letting out a groan at feeling those soft lips he had spent so much time fantasizing about touching against his own, sucking on the soft folds before moving to kiss her neck. It was like a dam of restrained emotion and affection had finally burst within him, and he felt so needy for her touch, so needy for her.
“I love you.” Bakugou whispers in between kisses, feeling her shudder in surprise as she weakly fights to try and push him away, but he doesn’t care and easily stops her with a grabbing of her wrists. Another kiss to her hair, her forehead, cheek, neck, nose; he just couldn’t stop himself. “I love you,” He repeats, this time louder and firmer than before, nuzzling his cheek up against hers, feeling the warmth of her skin against his own. “so don’t go away and leave me all alone, got it? I’d go crazy without you.”
In this trapped and hopeless situation, his classmate doesn’t even feel like she can afford to say no, or even anything at all as she cries softly. For now, Bakugou was OK with that. Katsuki knew that, with time, he could show her exactly how he felt, and in so many ways. Until then, though, he was more than overjoyed to just sit here, quietly holding his beloved for the rest of their first day finally being together.
There was even a part of him quietly speaking up in the back of his mind, a tiny voice that progressively grew louder and louder from each passing moment, each little kiss he gave her, with every little squeeze of his loving embrace and pound of his happy heart that said ‘I wanna feel like this forever’.
Bakugou couldn’t help but agree.

The Gamer Hero, Deku Chapter 2
A/N: Wow, thanks for all you guys who left nice reviews and stuff. Sorry it took me so long to update, but I had a play I had to go to a lot of practices for, which was especially annoying because of the four scenes I was in, I only had an important role in one.
To LadyCalus, I have no idea how to do that.
To the user known as Iliekfishes, I would like to say that, while I do not appreciate your tone, I do appreciate that you gave me some criticism. Now, to address what you said, I said that I hadn't seen any My Hero Academia/Gamer fanfiction, which was at the time true. I have, however, checked some out after you pointed that out to me. If it bothers you that much, though, I can edit it if you ask nicely. As for the formatting, I do admit to using Ryuji's The Games We Play as a sort of reference for the formatting, as I remember that that fanfic was very faithful in formatting to the original webcomic and I couldn't remember how exactly it went. Now, while I can deal with you insulting me to a certain point, I would prefer you not call the other viewers names. I also have no clue what "almost all the tension is midigated by cannon" means. Finally, while I didn't mean to make it seem like I was anyone's gift to fanfiction aside from my own, much less God's, I do apologize if I unintentionally gave off that vibe. If you can possibly think of any tips to not sound like a jackass, I would be willing and grateful to hear them out. Sorry for putting you on the spot like that, but you did call people who were nice to me dumbasses, which I very much do not appreciate.
To Voltrasin, I understand your confusion, but the reason why Kamui Woods and Mt. Lady had ? for titles is because Izuku can't see the titles and levels of anyone fifty or more levels over his. Should've made that more clear, sorry. And yes, all heroes will have their hero names as their titles.
Also, I forgot to include map and quest log to the main menu. Fixed it, but I figured I should let you know
Now, on with the story!
xoxoxo
I stared at the pile of sludge in front of me. "Well, kid, seems like you were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Unfortunately for you, I need a disguise." Ping. I looked at the new text box.
A new skill has been created through special action! Repeated exposure to bloodthirst has created the skill 'Sense Bloodthirst' to sense ill will.
Yeah, no thanks. I jumped out of the way as he lunged at me. "Observe"

Emotions: Grateful, bloodthirsty

"Itadakimasu!" the slime said as part of his body shot out and stuck to my ankle. I gasped and quickly bent down to try and tear him off of me before he could do anything more to me. Unfortunately, my fingers slipped through him with little resistance. "Get over here!" he yelled, and I was yanked into him. As I was painfully dragged across the ground, I heard a ping, but I was a little too distracted by the sludge villain trying to eat me or something. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get away from him before he submerged me in himself and started trying to force himself down my throat. It was at this moment that I noticed something in the corner of my eye that I could somehow see perfectly fine.
HP: 184/250
MP: 275/275
And the HP was slowly going down as I struggled with the sludge villain. That was not a good sign. I struggled harder, but I couldn't get out. I thought I was going to die there. I heard another ping and looked up, hoping it was something I could use.
A new skill has been created through special action! Through repeatedly enduring damage, the skill 'Physical Endurance' has been created.
Due to struggling while unable to breathe, your VIT has raised by one!
Crap. Normally that would be good, but I couldn't use them to escape. My HP was still draining and my vision was starting to go dark. "Am I going to die here?" I thought. Just before I blacked out, though, I heard something.
"TEXAS SMASH!"
xoxoxo
When I came to, someone was lightly slapping me on the cheek. "Hey! Wake up!" a familiar voice said. I groaned and looked up to see... "Whew! Thought we lost you there!"
?
LV?
Toshinori Yagi
The name wasn't familiar, but there was no mistaking who the large, muscled, blonde man was. "ALL MIGHT!" I scrambled to my feet, now aware that I had been rescued by my idol. "Can I have your autograph?" He grinned and pointed at my hero analysis notebook, which must have slipped out of my backpack during the struggle. I opened it to the All Might page and beamed at the autograph that he'd written on it. "THANK YOU!"
"Good to hear it, kid! Always great to see a fan! Nowifyoudon'tmindmeIhavetogoturnthisvillainin!" He rushed out that last part while pointing to two soda bottles that the villain was stuffed in and then jumped away. Of course, by then... "WHAT ARE YOU DOING, KID?! LET GO!" I had stupidly grabbed onto his leg.
"If I let go I'll die!" I yelled back over the wind.
"GOOD POINT!" he said. He landed on a nearby roof and let me off. "I have to go now! Knock on the door and someone should let you down!" He made to jump again.
"Wait!" I yelled and closed my eyes. "All my life, I've looked up to you. I've wanted to be a hero just like you. But... my Quirk has only just surfaced. I'm sure it has potential, but it's going to take a lot of training for me to be able to use it as a hero. Even with potential, though, the exams to get into Yuuei are in ten months. Do you think I can still get into Yuuei?" I looked at him for an answer, but... "WHAT!?"
All Might
LV 9
Toshinori Yagi
If it weren't for the title confirming it, I'd have thought that he was a different person. Sure, he was blonde and very tall, but he was almost literally skin and bones! I guess whatever the hell just happened to him to make him a scarecrow was also what lowered his level, but... "Observe"
Name: Toshinori Yagi
Title: All Might
Level: 9
HP: 500/500
MP: 1100/1100
STR: 11
VIT: 4
DEX: 19
INT: 52
WIS: 35
LUC: 9
Quirk: One For All
Emotions: Annoyed, concerned
Status: Totally Fucked Up
"What happened to you, All Might?"
He sighed, then coughed up some blood. "Before I say anything, I need you to promise me you won't say a word of this to anyone. Don't go blabbing about this online, don't tell your friends, don't even say anything to your family. Got it?"
I nodded vigorously. "I won't tell anyone. It's obviously a big deal."
He sat down and raised up his now-baggy shirt, revealing a giant wound on his... everywhere... that could only be described as "Totally Fucked Up." It looked like someone took a fusion between a sledgehammer and a blender to his chest. "I was in a really bad fight five years ago. Took the villain down, but not before getting this ugly thing in return. By all rights, I should've died by now. Luckily, I 'only' got off with constantly coughing up blood and only being able to do hero work three hours a day."
"Toxic Chainsaw couldn't do that do you!"
"You really know your heroes, huh? No, it was another fight. I made sure nobody would hear about it, otherwise there'd have been a lot of panic. Kid, if you wanna be a hero, maybe you should wait a bit. Put it off 'til college or something, when you can actually use your Quirk." He got up and left through the door. I just stood there, stunned. Then I saw a giant explosion. "That's either a villain or Kacchan snapped," I said. "I wonder which one." Ping. "What's that?"
A quest has been created!
A quest?
What Now, Kacchan!?
You just saw an explosion! Maybe you should investigate.
Time limit: 30 minutes.
Well, I had nothing better to do... I looked down to see what I assumed were the rewards.
Completion: 2000 EXP, ?, ?, ?.
Failure: Bakugou Katsuki dies.
Okay. Definitely doing that now. Even if it could be considered vigilante work, I really didn't want Kacchan to die. I decided to run for it.
xoxoxo
When I got there, I saw a crowd of people standing just outside of the safe area. I pushed my way through the crowd to see the sludge villain from earlier in the middle of a flaming street, struggling with someone who was inside him. "Did he get loose when I grabbed onto All Might?" I thought. "Is this my fault?" I looked at the titles.
Sludge Monster
LV 26
Kurosawa Shou
Lord Explosion Murder
LV 14
Bakugou Katsuki
It was Kacchan in there! Before I knew what was happening, I was running in there. Ping. I looked at the text box.
New objective! Save Bakugou.
Welp. Looks like I made the right call. I focused back on the sludge villain in time to see him turning towards me. "You came back for some more, huh, kid? Well I'll kill you if you want it so badly!" The sludge villain looked like he was about to lunge, so I threw my backpack at his face. He flinched and yelled at me. I ran up to him and started tearing at the sludge around Kacchan's face. I heard a ping but didn't stop to look at it. I managed to get the sludge off of Kacchan's mouth. He gasped, coughed a bit, and then yelled, "GET AWAY, FUCKING DEKU! YOU'RE GONNA DIE!" That was either a death threat or he was actually concerned about me. Either way, my response was the same.
"What kind of hero would I be if I let you die?" I would've said something else, but my Sense Danger activated and I jumped back just in time to not get hit by a gooey punch.
"I'LL KILL YOU!" The sludge villain yelled. I would've done something but then I heard a pair of pings.
"I'M PATHETIC! DETROIT! SMASH!" a familiar voice yelled. A rush of air extinguished all of the fires and somehow blew the sludge villain apart while leaving Kacchan untouched. A few seconds later it randomly started raining. I looked to where the blast originated and saw All-Might standing there. "I'm sorry, boys."

"What were you thinking!? You could have gotten yourself killed!" The heroes were not happy I rushed in there. I didn't really want to pay attention to their lectures, so I just looked at my text boxes. One of them congratulated me on how I made some sort of ripping skill my tearing the sludge off of Kacchan. It didn't look too good, but maybe I could work with it. The other one, though...
Congratulations! The quest What Now, Kacchan!? was completed!
Completion Rewards: 2000 EXP, Increased closeness with Toshinori Yagi, Access to the Skill Grimoir system, 3000 Skill Fragments
Your level has increased by one!
That... was something. At least I was level six now, even if I had no idea what a Skill Grimoir system was. Or what the heck I do with Skill Fragments. All I knew was that a bunch of balls like Munny from Kingdom Hearts swirled around me before getting absorbed into my body after All Might hit the villain, which apparently everyone saw and I had to explain that I had no idea what the heck happened there to the heroes. Turns out that random balls getting absorbed into the idiot kid who stupidly ran into the villain attack is normally a red flag of some sort. Specifically that, apparently. That is a really specific scenario to be wary of. At any rate, they eventually let me go when I promised that I wouldn't do anything too stupid without adult supervision. I was walking home when...
"HEY! DEKU!" A fuming Kacchan shoved himself at my face. "I DON'T EVER NEED YOUR HELP! IF YOU EVER TRY TO BAIL ME OUT LIKE THAT AGAIN, I'LL KILL YOU!" Just to make his point, he let out an explosion aimed at the sky as he walked away. I sighed and continued along my way... for all of five seconds before All Might ran out in front of me.
"I AM HERE!"
"All Might! What are you doing here? Weren't you speaking to the press?"
"HA HA HA HA! I STAND FOR JUSTICE, NOT SOUNDBITES! FOR I, I AM ALL MI-plghght!" He started to go on this big speech before spewing out blood and shrinking down to his civilian form. I gave him a few minutes to clean himself off before he said, "Young man, I came to thank you and apologize. If you hadn't told me that you couldn't use your Quirk, if you hadn't ran in there... I would've been a worthless bystander, too afraid to do anything. So thanks."
"All Might, I-"
"I'm not done. You told me you couldn't really use your power, so when I saw this boy who might as well be Quirkless try to save a life, it inspired me too. There are stories about every hero, how they became great. Most have one thing in common. Their bodies moved before they had a chance to think, almost on their own. And today, that's what happened to you." I'm not going to lie, I teared up at this part. A lot. "Young man, you too can become a hero!"
"I-I don't know what too say! Thank you!"
"And I'm going to give you my Quirk, too!"
"Wait, what?"
"My Quirk. It's called One For All. It's a special power that can be passed on from one generation to the next, cultivated by one user then given on to a successor." He patted the OH GOD wound. "I won't be able to be a hero much longer, so I've been meaning to find someone to give One For All. It's actually why I came here. So, kid. Whaddya say? Wanna be the next All Might?"

"WHAT!?" I yelled.
"I want you to be my successor. I'll also help train you to use your Quirk even if you don't want my Quirk, so don't worry about that."
I bowed. "All Might, I'd be honored!"
"Great, kid! Let's trade phone numbers." All Might asked me for my phone number. ALL MIGHT ASKED ME FOR MY PHONE NUMBER! I gave him my phone number and he gave me mine. "I'll call you when I get everything ready. See you then!" He then walked off. I spent the rest of my walk home in silence, contemplating what just happened today. It was so crazy! But one thing was for sure. One thing that I had to do the second I got home. I walked in the door and immediately said, "Mom! I have to tell you something!"
Mom immediately came running and said, "What is it, honey?" She looked a little nervous.
I gulped. "Mom," I said, "I have a Quirk." The look on her face, that look of relief, joy, and excitement, was something I knew I'd cherish for years to come.

A/N: Oh, snap! Ain't this a twist! Yeah, I'm way too much of a wuss to deal with the implications of Izuku being able to print money and I didn't know how to get Izuku magic without flat-out introducing magic otherwise, so I just combined the two problems into one solution. Izuku's going to figure out what that Skill Fragment and Skill Grimoir thing does soon, and I won't say anything more until them. Also yes, Izuku is going to make progressively more video game references if I can remember to do it. Seriously, the Gamer needs game shout-outs!
Anyways, I'll see y'all next time! Let's hope I manage to update this thing sometime within a month next!
