FEBUWHUMP DAY 20: Rick Flag x F!Reader

Day 20 (Alt): “I dreamt you were alive”

Warnings: Character Death, language, little kissy kiss

Your shrill laugh fills the air as Rick chases you around the park. “Come back here.” 

You turn your head back, arms and legs propelling you faster than the special ops officer. “You’ll never catch me.” Rick chuckles lowly, not nearly as spent as you are. He’s finally able to catch up to you, his large arms wrapping around your mid section as he hoists you into the air, laughing as you try to escape. “Let me go, Rick.”

“Hmmm, I don’t think so,” he comments before setting you down and placing his lips on your neck, you still struggling in his arms. “You’re just too precious.” He lightly nips at your neck as you subconsciously tilt your head to the side, giving him room. 

After finally calming down, Rick sways your body against his as you lean into him, lightly humming in content. Rick realizes that this is the perfect moment to ask you what he’s been dying to know. “Will you marry me?” You freeze in his arms, turning around and looking into his eyes for any sign that he’s joking. You knew Rick never wanted to get married, claiming his life is too dangerous. You on the other hand, fantasied about a nice wedding with the man of your dreams, that man being Rick.

“What?” He sinks to the ground, one knee propped up as he pulls out a blue velvet box.

“Will you marry me?”

“Yes! Of course you idiot!” You fling yourself into his arms once again as he laughs, holding you tight against him, cherishing the moment.

The weather is dreary and rainy when he visits your grave. Traces of mold making a home on your tomb stone as he sinks to his knees, placing a singular white rose on the grave. Rick shudders against the harsh wind, gripping onto your tombstone as he holds back the tears that threaten to spill.

“Hey darlin’. Last night was rough. I dreamt you were alive, and when I woke up, you weren’t there,” he chuckles, trying to cope with his feelings. “It really should’ve been me to take that hit, and I’ll never forgive you for jumping in front of me. If you didn’t, you would still be alive and I would be in your place.” He pulls out one of his dog tags on a chain, the engagement ring accompanying it. Rick pulls out a mini shovel from his back pack and digs a hole, burying his tag with your ring.

Pulling back, Rick wipes his nose with the back of his hand and sits back on his calves. “I’m going on a mission today. Pretty sure I’m going to die. I think Waller designed it that way. So, I just came to say good bye one more time.” A singular tear drops onto the grave as Rick turns his head, looking at the sky as it reflects his mood. He turns back to your grave, bringing his hand up to his lips before bringing it to your tombstone. “If I don’t make it back alive, just know that I love you very much and that you were it for me. You were the one I was going to spend the rest of my life with. And I’m sorry that we didn’t have the life we dreamed. I wish we could’ve.” A beep from Rick’s pocket breaks his monologue as he pulls it out and sighs. Rick reads the text before shoving it back in his pocket and looking at your tomb one last time. “I gotta go, sweetheart. If I die, I hope I’ll see you in the after life. I love you more than life itself. Goodbye.” Rick stands up and slings his bag over his shoulder, not looking back as he walks away and to his car.

it think i’ve settled on wanting to write my cult related muses (mostly anderson and his brothers). so if you’d be up for some dark/tabooish threads with them on discord please hmu at blccdwatcr#5956.

here are some plot ideas below.

cult rundown: ● christianity based (believes they have a direct line to god) ● practices polygamy ● alt ideals: marrying age 20 -24; all unmarried women freeuse afterwards ● tries to bring in as many people as possible (via marriage & adoption) ● the church was founded by his grandparents but taken to the next level by anderson's father. ● the main group is based in montana, but they have smaller group in a few other states.

he kidnaps a friend of his wife to be his second wife. he and his wife meet in college & have been together for awhile. but your muse is like her only connection to the outside world, so in his mind what an easy way to expand their family and keep her isolated.

I just hope by the end of S3 she realizes she's made a huge mistake, comes out to live her life outside of the GOP.

Hmm, you sent this before ep 2 aired so do you know this for a fact or were you speculating? I mean, it seems to be borne out by ep 2 once it did air, and yeah, looks like it's gonna be an ugly journey ahead.

I won't give away any spoilers but Ellen and Larry in 302 is just nauseous. Her arc is just terrible with 2 scenes each at 2 minutes or so. I'm more disappointed than I was going into the season - had low expectations going in.

A warning: I get quite negative below about the show For All Mankind so avoid if you're a fan.

Yep, I did watch, and...I'm just. It's so funny to me that media like FK and TBH and BSC and WN and Crush will be dismissed practically sight unseen, actual quality aside, because of their target audience, but something like s3 of this show is being critically praised and considered true prestige.

First. Danny and Karen? Are they kidding me? I don't even know what to say about that or why anybody would think it's compelling storytelling. I'm not one to deny actual quality when it's there, I thought the first season was great, I can watch people do unlikable things and still think the show is good, that's not my issue. But this is just all so soapy and twisting everything, character and plot, to service the melodrama and gimmicky alt history plots they've thought of. I said in my answer about Love, Victor that I could understand making choices that serve the fiction, but that's a show about high school love, this is a show deliberately trying to play out the reality that would unfold if just one historical event changed. So little of this is what would actually happen even with the set of characters they created in s1, it's just, "wouldn't it be cool if we did this?", which is the worst way to write.

I want to continue stating my unhappiness with whatever's going on with Ed/Molly/Dani. Are they trying to say that as much as we like Ed and Molly, people naturally turn conservative in their older age and Ed and Molly are unknowingly being pretty racist in how they're going about this? Or white people are just always capable of it? Because Ed was openly racist and sexist right there and I just don't believe Molly would think Ed's the best candidate to this degree, yeah, he's a "cowboy" like her, but why would you want that in a very long-term mission, especially when he's already 60? Yeah, Molly, let's remember the fond good old days of the agency you two signed up for, when the version Ed signed up for kicked you out for being a woman. Increasingly, the weight and history of past events and characterizations we literally saw in front of us seem to matter less and it's about what the current season requires.

Are we even supposed to dislike Ed for his comments, given the show went and rewarded him with the Helios mission? And in literally looking up the spelling of Helios right now, I found this article where Joel Kinnaman discusses Ed's thought process and there's no mention of how what he said was completely beyond decency, how it's just a friendship that goes through rough patches and it's actually him who feels betrayed. We don't even need to look back at the show's treatment of race to know Dani's going to yet again get the short end of the stick narratively, look how after that conversation between Ed and Dani where she's the one who heard something so hurtful, it's Ed the show decided to stay with and be all sympathetic about. Shows can have bad things happen, they can have people do bad things, they don't have to correct it or call it out, even, including something isn't agreeing with it. But you can't ignore it entirely???? In and outside the show? And what you choose to focus on and how you tell that story says a lot! Who gets the agency, who gets the screentime, who gets the sympathy.

And then of course: Ellen. To even get to the point of discussing her and Larry having a kid, I'd have to understand why they're doing this political storyline and I do not! Why go to all this trouble? Is it to change the country for better? In which case she joined the GOP?? Will ally with a GOP hardliner?? Presumably had sex with Larry to have a kid for her image? I can only hope it was artificial insemination or adoption but given past history, I don't expect the show to care about that or the message it's conveying.

But if she's joining politics for Mars, WHY??? They're literally showing Helios right now as a private aeronautics company and had Ellen's background being perfect for it, why not have her do that? Because it would just be more dramatic, right, for the closeted lesbian to be a Republican politician? Not even a Democrat. No, no, let's have her possibly be campaigning on anti-gay stuff. Isn't that just delicious? As I said: the "wouldn't it be cool" style of storytelling.

Golduin was born the second child to a pair of naturalist ‘hippy’ parents. Her and her Brother were raised all over the world, wherever something new and exciting was discovered, there they were. Though the natural world never really interested Golduin all that much, though art did draw her in. And while she did not pass her NEWTs with great marks, she did excel in Charms, though when it came to a job to do, she felt nothing fit her, and she left the UK, and went travelling. Not for any plants or life, but where sounded beautiful. And while in New Zealand, she found herself learning the origins of Tattooing, and then began to travel to learn more and more about it, both Muggle and Wizarding.

It is while she is travelling she meets Him (for the sake of the ad we shall call him Joel, but the name will be down to the writer.) Joel was travelling, or learning, or doing whatever he was out there to do. But the two met and fell in love against their better judgement. But when it came time for one of them to leave, they asked the other to go with, but alas they could or would not. I see this as a messy breakup, with tears, anger and promises of never wanting to see the other again.

Fast forward to now, and Golduin is living and working in Brighton, happy though still single. She works, she drinks, she goes out dancing, and that is about it.

Until one day while walking along the seafront, Golduin bumps into Joel, and all those little hidden emotions come pouring out. Are they polite, or maybe do they swear and storm away, or is it one quick shag and then try and go their different ways,

But, we are never that nice to our characters, are we?

Maybe he is betrothed to someone else, but he cant quite quit Golduin? Maybe they just keep bumping into one another, and keep falling into bed? Maybe Joel has been through something so bad that he keeps pushing her away but showing up at her place drunk and wanting her.

I am open to all ideas, and the name, job and back story of Joel is up to the writer.

I don’t watch morning shows and I definitely don’t like Aniston and Carell.

“See” - In the distant future, the human race has lost the sense of sight, and society is left to find new ways to interact, build, hunt and survive.

Sorry - the premise sound stupid.

“Dickinson” - Dickinson takes place during Emily Dickinson’s era with a modern sensibility and tone.

Something you might see on the CW - I don’t watch anything regularly on the CW.

“For All Mankind” - In an alternate timeline, the USSR beats the USA to the Moon; thus setting its first Russian cosmonaut on it.

I’ve enjoyed other alt-history stories and Joel Kinnaman is a big a plus. But I’m dubious about Ronald Moore. While I loved “Battlestar Galactica” for 2.5 season, I think he lost focus and it ended poorly. But one show is not enough to subscribe.
