WARNING: GIMMICK BLOG REVIEW AHEAD

Gimmick Blog: @hazard-symbols-that-fuck-hard

Gimmick: Posting pictures of hazard symbols, accepts submissions.

Gimmick Rating: 9/10, while it does definitely appeal to myself and many tumblr users, I'm sure there are many who would be largely unimpressed. However, within its niche I think this gimmick is excellent. With how fragile our lives are, I imagine there's no end to the hazard symbols one could find. Many of them, in an attempt to shock meaning into the viewer, come across as "hard as fuck" or "fucking hard". A gimmick to capture these symbols is a unique and interesting idea. As of time of writing, it is tied for the highest rating given to a gimmick.

Blog Rating: 8/10, largely dedicated to the gimmick but occasionally features non gimmick posts. Even among the non gimmick posts, many are related to the gimmick, though there's enough that aren't for me to care. For instance, HSTFH's tarot and poker decks. If someone were posting about their tarot and poker decks on a gimmick blog you might assume they're just shilling a personal project but HSTFH is much more reputable than that. Hazard Tarot and Hazard Poker are not only impressive art, but also topical to the blog. Even the... porn (which I will not link directly to for obvious reasons), featured on the blog is tangentially related to hazard symbols. However, HSTFH posted some stuff about the election and telling people to vote. While I imagine we have similar politics, and I would normally support such things, I don't believe politics should feature on gimmick blogs.

Overall Rating: 8.5/10, the highest score ever awarded as of time of writing. Hazard Symbols That Fuck Hard is in my opinion an account someone could only run on tumblr. It's unique, it's cool, I've been a fan for a while and I have been considering buying its hazard tarot and poker deck designs as those are things that fascinate me. I always keep an eye out for interesting hazard symbols so I have something to submit someday. Until then, I will wait with anticipation for the account's next post.

Xaku 1999 Protoframe. Their name is Alex. Yeah, I have some ideas about their chracter and stuff, but Xaku's concept is pretty complex... this was an attempt to give my fav frame the proto treatment - and I am not sure if I like how it came out - neither concept, nor art wise. Eh... I am just generally uninspired lately. That will go by too I am sure.

I absolutely love the Xaku Kagura skin btw. But beside the mask I think it'd be really difficult to transform the entire skin into a protoframe.

Aaaaanyway... I will no longer be posting my stuff on twitter for now - for reasons that should be obvious.

Do you perhaps own a tiktok account? The reason I'm asking is because I saw someone posting what looks like your art whilst I was scrolling TikTok.

I don't- I know many *many* people get inspired by me

Sometimes even to the point that they replicate my art 1:1

But I can't do anything about it really, I don't want to take creative freedom from people, and I should be happy that I'm influencing so many artists

It hurts sometimes because I know some people who get heavily inspired by me get super popular on TikTok and I saw people saying them are "the better shimada" and stuff like that. It does hurt sometimes and so many people thinking they are me or thinking I am them is not really good for my health considering I struggle hard with dissociation ,self-perception and recognizing myself as my own person wahh

I will get over it sometime but there is nothing I can do about it :P

On one hand it's flattering but in the other it's kinds scary

I feel like now is a good time to announce that I’m in the process of moving blogs! Their office reeked of sulfur and salt. Under the floorboards, I could hear dozens of tiny legs skittering about intermittently. Dried leaves and dead twigs were scattered under the furniture, ink stains covered the book that laid on the table, and I imagine that the scented candles that had been left burning were some futile attempt to make the room feel more pleasant.

"You must forgive me, Inspector, had I known you were coming sooner, I would've..." She looked around, her eyes landed on the dried leaves on the floor and then back to me "...prepared tea".

She led me to the center of the room as she sat at the side of her desk at the other end. Beetles and cockroaches started to pop up from under the floorboards at this point. She paid no heed to them. I could've sworn those pests were forming a perimeter around her and were ready to swarm me by the snap of a finger.

"I don't suppose you came here to ask for my expertise". A scan around the room revealed walls lined with bookshelves, filled with monographs on insects, fishes, and mythical creatures. There were even a few books with her name on, Salome Barko, listed as the author.

"For the yearly census. Have you recently travelled outside the city within the past month?"

"Oh yes, recently I had just returned from my trip in the desert city of..."

Listening to her recount her travels, I started to realize what I was surrounded by. These insects infesting the place weren’t normal.

"...then a small bite killed the camel I had in no less than a minute!"

These insects are not from here. A cockroach suddenly flew and landed on my arm, I saw its mandibles slowly widening. Instinctively, I frantically shook my arm and slapped it, knocking it to the ground. I then heard hundreds of wings furiously buzzing from under the floorboards so I ran. I tripped over a dead twig in my haste, hitting the ground with a hard thud. As I scrambled to my feet, I glanced back. She was still sitting at her desk, looking at me with a blank stare.

Only after the door slammed shut behind me was I was finally able to breathe. I paused to fill my lungs with fresh air, then pulled out a checklist from inside my coat and crossed off a name.

I will be writing my resignation letter next month...

I'm up for a long night of sketching (rare) and filled with a sudden abrupt sadness at having lost so much of my old work. But by some MIRACLE, all the old sketches I despise survived.

This is what I get for a) not keeping good backup habits and b) letting all my online galleries lapse.

I need to address the mass of said hated sketches and just do a cathartic burn. My space gets tidied, and I release some blegh feelings. We all win!

but it turns out most of my art is in my sketchbook so i should probably still do it! dinar is ready!!
