Stray AU | Fabian Madrigal

Fabian Madrigal is the two week old son of Dolores Madrigal and Diego Moreno, and the youngest brother of 5-year-old Felicity. 

He was born via a C-section, though it was funny and adorable that he pouted a few seconds out of the womb before wailing his complaints to the nurses and his parents. Dolores recovered easily with the help of Watcher Julieta’s healing and bed-rest. 

He was called Fabian after great-uncle, Diego’s Tio, Fabian who Diego saw as a great man with a loving spirit... However Felicity remembers her father’s description of Tio Fabian as a man who once ate a tide-pod as a child.

Unlike his older sister who looked remarkably like their mother, Fabian’s looks was inherited straight from his Maternal Abuela, Much like how Isabela looked like Alma. But, unlike Pepa, Fabian’s eye don’t match, both a green eye with a few flecks of brown in his left eye and his right eye if half-green and brown. 

Segmental Heterochromia in both eyes: meaning two colours present in each of his irises: a trait inherited from his paternal line, but hadn’t resurfaced for two generations; Diego’s Abuela had a brown eye and a blue eye.

Despite being a baby, he favours his mother and sleeps easily to his Sister’s humming, though the latter in most part to her vocal gift. He doesn’t like to be put down and would cry for hours until held. He can only tolerate being put down when in his crib for the night but even then he’s clingy. A pacifier as been a wonder for both his parents to keep him content. He grew a mass of red curls, but often winds up pulling on it and making himself cry so hats are often used to keep his hands away.

His great uncle, Agustin made him a yellow baby blanket, in part to reference Pepa and her colours but also because Dolores did like yellow; believing that one of her kids should at least have one of their grandparents colour; even if they don’t have hers. Dolores dislikes the colour red after getting mauled by the jaguar; the red reminds her too much of blood.

Okay here is the final list of all the books I’ve finished this year! (since it doesn’t look like I’m going to get anything finished or even started this week.)

I tend to not finish things if I’m not enjoying them (two exceptions on this list because sometimes I am spiteful), so I liked all of these—but the ones in bold are those I particularly loved (I only bolded one per series or it would just be a wall of The Murderbot Diaries lol).

I’m very happy with my year in reading. I hit my new year’s goal of 52 books finished. And I read a lot of things that I really fucking loved. Lots of robots. LOTS of scifi/fantasy sapphics which I am SO happy about. Some good horror, some good fucky “romances”. A lot of things written in response to the Trump era or written during 2020 lockdown.

I also enjoyed partaking in online book fandom for the first time in possibly ever! Especially Murderbot fandom, which is very active and creative and lovely.

(If you followed me for my bookblogging, thank you for enduring my Thai BL vroom vroom omegaverse brainrot. It will not be stopping anytime soon.)

For 2024, I am going to keep my goal at 52 books and save any extra time I have for rereading old things.

                                     ◜parar naquela pousada pra descansarem e aang ficar sóbrio antes de dirigir de volta para a cidade tinha sido uma boa ideia. infelizmente, o outro esquecera de avisar que eventualmente seus pesadelos o acordavam durante a noite em desespero e que poderia interromper o sono do amigo também. ainda tinha a respiração acelerada e o coração palpitando, odiava acordar alguém em suas crises e se desculparia com fabian direito depois, mas no momento só aproveitou da presença alheia para acalmar a pulsação. encostou o rosto no ombro do menor; era um cara carinhoso e não tinha vergonha de se aproximar dos amigos, não ia pensar muito em estar invadindo o espaço do moreno ou não, então só se acomodou ali, fechando os olhos e segurando a primeira coisa que alcançou. apertou o tecido da camisa dele para segura-lo ali com ele, era muito difícil de voltar a dormir depois de qualquer pesadelo como aquele. em casa, levantaria e não dormiria o resto da noite, mas precisava melhorar pra depois levar os dois em segurança pra casa, embora a bebida intensificasse o sentimento no momento. "obrigado." disse baixo, sem olha-lo, até porque a escuridão do quarto não permitia. "desculpa te acordar assim, mas obrigado pela... segurança."

Stray AU | Dolores

Dolores was 6 years old when she left her AU, following her Tio Agustin after he was blackmailed to leave the family by Abuela due to her disapproval of him. She wanted him back and thought she could convince him to return. Due to his height, Agustin walked faster and Dolores did her best to follow.

It took hours for her to catch up when he stopped for a break, horrifying him to realise she was there, giving her food and water immediately and made to turn back to get her back to Encanto before day-break.

But the jaguars were the first to make themselves known before they realised that they were at a jaguar’s den, not a free area of the woods as he had thought.

A distant portal opening triggered the Jaguar to attack, Agustin taking the drive for Dolores who ran towards the portal light where Hallow had appeared, a smaller jaguar caught Dolores by the leg, scaring her face and blinding her in one eye from a single claw, but Hallow was quick to save the child before the woman got to Agustin.

Now left with two hurt people from her indirect actions, Hallow took the two back to the Watcher AU for medical treatment. As Agustin was the only adult family left outside the AU with her, he was considered her guardian and his responsibility.

It took time for them to recover, but in that time, Dolores was cleared with a basis prosthetic eye and was put into school where she had began to make friends and Agustin got to know Pariah Julieta who was who in the medical wing, where her daughter was in a gestation tank following the woman’s emergency delivery in the aftermath of a catastrophic injury to her leg, resulting in Pariah Losing the leg.

Dolores was fascinated by not only her but also this world and the Encanto multiverse.

Though Agustin wanted to stay, he was against Dolores’s staying as well, as she should be with her family in Encanto but ultimately, Dolores wore him down on the matter; with her injury and this world’s technology, she could have her vision restored; if they go back she wouldn’t have that.

At school, she learned not only normal things like Spanish, and maths but also other languages such as English, Sign-langue and morse code, physical sports where she caught on quickly martial arts. It’s typical that all children are trained in self-defence but those who want to learn more can, with approval of their guardian.

Dolores took up more, enjoying learning but also wound up teaching as well with a few new students. She favoured hand-to hand as guns were far too loud for her to handle.

By the time she was 15, she took up an assistant teaching position with Beatriz Moreno, a fellow worker who she was best friends with her daughter, Clara, but has also been a relationship with her son, Diego who worked in Tek Felix’s workshop in tech-development for about a year.

When Dolores was 16, she fell pregnant with Diego’s child. Agustin did his best to help her while he could around his own responsibilities during her pregnancy, getting her into music to keep her busy, as she did know how to play a few instruments thanks to him. Dolores gave birth to a healthy baby girl, to which she named Felicity, after her father Felix.

Agustin was the was the third to get a hold of the baby after she was born. Pariah and Decay were also off work at the same time due to the birth of Dante, Decay’s son and helped a lot. Felicity and Dante grew up together but not as close as Dolores’s work at the other side of the Watcher Casita kept them more separated

By the time she was 21, she fell pregnant with her second child and married Diego. She gave birth to a baby boy, who she called Fabian. She took time off her work for Maternity leave to devote her time for her new baby and child.

Felicity is a bright, bubbly soul and loved both her parents but she was also fiercely protective of them too. Like Rana, having grown up in the watcher AU, she had grown accustomed to their way of life, getting into basic defence at 2 but as a divergent child, Dolores knew she had to learn sooner than later the basics. She, like all divergent children are fitted with a device to send them back to her maternal world in the event of a kidnapping attempt

By the time her daughter was 5, Felicity had grown a lot and advanced a lot more and her gift revealed to be a sonic voice, most notable when she screams out or hits a high octave. She’s been taught to use her gift in echo-location more for her to refine it and be more creative than to deafen her parents every time she throws a tantrum.

Dolores typically wears her hair up in a ponytail of curls away from her face with a red ribbon to help differentiate between her and other Dolores’s but doesn’t wear red. Due to the trauma of the Jaguar attack and the blood, she hates the colour and blood in general. She took up her Tio’s colours.

She’s known as Stray-D in her group of friends.
