DRAGON AGE VEILGUARD SPOILERS
So like, like, like WHY THE FUCK DID NONE OF YOU TELL ME THAT NOT ONLY DOES FUCKING VARRIC DIE BUT SO DOES FUCKING DAVRIN AND IM GUESSING HARDING IF YOU CHOSE HER LIKE WHAT THE FUCK 😭
What the fuck man 😭 i was sobbing throughout that entire scene from the moment davrin and assan all the way to Rook escapes the prison, finding out the true memories of what happened that day she trapped Solas cause man. Man what the fuck.
I GET IT, I GET SOMEONE HAD TO DIE. BUT WHY WHY WHY WHY WHYWHY
Also idk what the fuck some of yall smoking saying the game has Fortnite graphics, that the story is shit and the companions are ass. I genuinely believe you are just piggyingback off others opinions and your either too scared to say you enjoy something or your just so fucking stupid you just agree with the majority of the crowd. Because i fucking loved everything about this game. ESPICALLY THE STORY, like holy fuck was the fucking last battle scenes were crazy asf but so much fun to watch and play.
I loved everything about this game and this will be my new hyperfixation for as long as I live.
(I also highkey wanted Rook and Solas to kiss multiple times throughout the game and i honestly think BioWare was just to pussy to add that in bc what the fuck was the chemistry going on with those two, fanfic writers i am willing and waiting please)

— WIP Sunday
got tagged by the lovely @imogenkol to share a WIP i'm working on and finally i have something substantial that's not an immediate embarrassment
anyway, DA: Veilguard teaser be upon ye (btw, Leonie belongs to @jendoe 🫶)
gonna tag (taglist to opt in/out for future content if you want!):
@shellibisshe, @rolangf, @ghostfvcker, @roofgeese, @rhettsabbott, @queennymeria, @florbelles, @jackiesarch, @risingsh0t, @countessrooster, @lucky-107, @unholymilf, @cryptcombat, @cptcassian, @thedeadthree, @belorage, @carrionsflower
"When was the last time you had a warm bath?" Leonie's voice finally broke the silence.
Isadora, who has been staring at the flickering candle flames at the far end of the room, just snorted. "Is that your way of saying I look like shit?"
"Would I be wrong?"
"No. I have to admit, it has been a while since I got to enjoy the luxury of having a private bath." Gently pouring some of the soapy water on her exposed knees, Isadora let out a relaxed sigh.
Between fighting the Maker's most horrendous abominations and solving world-shattering problems, there was far too little time to stop and take care of oneself. While they were not strangers to longer expeditions and travelling distances, the young mages were starting to feel the fatigue and miss the finer aspects of modern civilization, such as refreshing baths.
Thankfully, the Lighthouse, which was now serving as their new temporary home, offered all comforts the group had been seeking. Only one drawback - after spending so much time in his own company, Solas stopped believing in locks. The solution to that problem was very simple - the two cousins had shared an unspoken agreement that if anybody tried interrupting their sacred bath bonding time for any other reason except that the world was literally ending, they would be unceremoniously blown away. In the literal sense. Also, maybe publicly ridiculed the next day.

with the stuff going on with worldstates, i think about past games even more now. i wish so dearly there was something of anders in dai.
i remember the first time i was playing. there was so much emphasis on apostates and rebel mages that i honestly thought anders was up to something, maybe leading a rebellion, a safe place for apostates etc. i was sure we would see him, or some mage would make mention of him in a better light than what we got.
it's not really a surprise some mages blame him. one thing really interesting about mages in dragon age is how some of them demonize themselves, seek the circle over being an apostate because of how terrible that option is. but.

The reason Dragon Age Origins is as good as it is isn’t just because of its dark fantasy horror vibes or any other outward element of the game. It’s becasue bioware was allowed to take their time with it. They cooked that game up for 9ish years give or take. And it is still buggy as hell and pulling videogame bullshit tricks out of its ass to make things work. The animation is janky and the graphics were out of date for when it came out. But the fleshed out world and story is what drew most fans. The origin system that affected almost every aspect of the game from dialogue choices to npc reactions. The game was meant to be played over and over again.
Dragon Age: Origins is a product of what happens when you let a team have enough time to make a satisfying product. A game made in a crunch in a few years simply cannot have the complexity of Dragon Age Origins. The origin system alone could not be done by the bioware team today because it was so time consuming.
EA cannot just keep expecting bioware to make another game like Origins if they don’t let them have enough time to actually make the game. Like please EA, let them spend a decade on something again it will be worth it I promise.
Anyways I’m still excited for veilguard and I’m still gonna have a fun time playing it and romancing the characters. 14 year old me would be eating this shit up and I’ve played worse games just because they have little gay people in them.

With all the Dragon Age Veilguard (I refuse to include the The) info coming out, it just reminds me of the Bitter Pill I still have to swallow over how EA essentially threw Mass Effect Andromeda under the bus for an untested IP. Cause "gAmES aS a SeRViCe!!!" The game had potential, but it's so obvious it was rushed, given to a less experienced studio (likely deliberately) and given minimum possible support post launch.
I'm excited to dive back into the lore of Dragon Age again, but boy, am I going in with an air of caution. I hope it's good, but I will just have to wait and see.

playing dao again in prep for the new game, and realizing wow, the temple of sacred ashes is full of elven statues. and given what we know about dragons and eternal life, what if andraste was reborn into a dragon? we always thought she might have some mythal in her, and that piece could have gone into a dragon after a while, JUST SAYIN’.
(still getting rid of the cultists tho)

Okay so what are circle mages allowed to learn life skill wise? Obviously they are taught how to read, can't live in a place that's just a huge library and not, but beyond that what?
Wnnye knows how to mend clothing, according to dialogue between her and Alistair, so they can learn at least some form of sewing skills. How much though I don't know, is it something they need to get permission to get supplies of for from the supply room, similar to things for projects such as with the Rod of Fire?
The Circle is a place purposely set up to deny it's wards the opportunities to learn basic life skills so they remain dependent on the Chantry and it's amenities, however by virtue of not everyone getting their magic at an age where they learn nothing of a normal life before being kidnapped from their families and homes, some of the older apprentices brought in will know how to do tasks that otherwise a mage could be denied.
At what point is a skill considered harmless enough to let them learn, such as how to mend their own clothes, and to what point does it get that they are denied any opportunity to learn it, as I imagine what happens with cooking, which is either handled by tranquil, Chantry priests, or servants hired from outside. What is a Circle mages day to day life outside of their lectures and experiments?
