see like this whole thunderbolts storyline seems almost politically intelligent, especially back in #110 era where it was critiquing the american news cycle, particularly sensationalism and nationalism as a way for politicians to gain power, and the idea of this secret police force (the thunderbolts themselves) who are like beyond corrupt and violent..... but then you have these little moments of like, oh, stereotypical hippie college students calling for world peace, arent they so irrational, lets make sure they throw the word "fascist" around in especially silly ways to undermine the idea of antifascism, lol tee hee

#then again this wasnt thunderbolts proper so maybe it can be chalked up to being a different writer than the main line #like idk these comics kinda suck but sometimes they almost have a spark of political intelligence that is a breath of fresh air #so then to have that fucking shit in this crossover comic was just like a slap in the face. girl what the fuck #brot reads marvel comics #secret invasion (2008) 6 #<- finished number 8 so im done but im still on this. lol #because like they have the idea of osborn playing with the news cameras to make himself look like a hero #while crowds of people wave their american flags and hes like oh we need to protect our beautiful nation #like theres the idea here of nationalism as a ploy for a power grab #hes corrupt as fuck but everyone thinks hes a hero bc UWU MURICA #so its like you ALMOST have the right idea #BUT THEN THE WHOLE.
