Reasons I'll like but not reblog an artist's art:

1. I am, it's just in a queue

2. It's art I really like, I just don't want it on my blog (which is just an archive for posts I want to go back and look at later)

3. It's something I like but don't really understand the context of like a fandom I'm unfamiliar with or OCs and don't want to reblog because it makes tagging difficult which messes up my organization

4. It would go on a blog (either main or side) where I have no followers and don't have the blog TO gain followers or communicate with and it literally would not spread to anyone for that reason

5. I've been on this site for 8 years and even then have memory issues and use likes as a way to mark what posts I have and haven't already seen/reblogged

6. And the one you want to hear the least: yeah. Sometimes art is nice enough for a like but not a reblog. It's called preferences. It's not a matter of technical skill or effort put into the piece or fandom they're not in or whatever. Sometimes you just don't vibe with something that much. That is NORMAL. A like and no reblog there shows, at least for me, "hey I can appreciate the concept behind it/technical skill/etc" but I won't reblog because for some other reason I just don't like it enough to have it on my blog. If the idea that not everyone will like your art enough to show it around to your friends is that big of a blow to your ego then you need to stop posting it because that is EXTREMELY unhealthy. This has been sitting on my mind a lot lately but it seems extra relevant now with the way Tommy and by extension Lou has been criticized for acting “too gay” in ep 5. And while yes, I will agree Tommy acted slightly different in ep 5, it has absolutely everything to do with Lou’s incredible acting choices to play Tommy differently when he is around people he deems as “safe” which is much better explained in this amazing post here <-

All these complains are doing is just yet again exposing buddies as homophobes who are, at the end of the day. Uncomfortable with real queerness being shown infront of them. Of course we already knew this with how they react to Buck and Tommy kissing and god forbid flirting especially if it has sexual implications like the daddy kink scene.

They can’t possibly fathom their precious uwu baby Buck would be sexual with another man so they spin and twist it however they can to make it out to be, “NO! You see! Tommy started the flirting! Tommy is just an insatiable horny gay man! He only wants sex! Like most of them do!”

I now have something probably controversial to say but oh well, im going to say it anyway.

A good many of these shippers would be deeply uncomfortable with Buddie actually becoming canon, because they would be nothing like their fanfic. They don’t want to see two men in a relationship, they want to see Eddie in a relationship with the character they project themselves onto.

There are so many examples of this but perhaps the biggest being the way Buck is made out to be the “woman” in the relationship and especially how he is made to be the “mom”

Buck and Tommy’s relationship 1st does not have any children involved so there are no gendered roles to be assigned (even though if there was.. theyd just both be a dad), they are both beefy and the same height, which is what people usually use to decide “top” and “bottom” but again since there is little physical difference between them, they cannot do this, which only adds to their uncomfortableness.

Furthermore, I would go as far to say that Buddie shippers dont actually like Buck.

A while back a shipper posted this analysis of Buddie, that essentially reduces Buck to a dog. A pet. Only to be let out of the bedroom to cook and take care of Chris, otherwise he’s meant only for Eddie’s pleasure.

Which, disgusting. But the thing that stood out most to me was how Tommy was criticized for

letting Buck be himself. For accepting and loving him flaws and all. For not trying to change anything, or “train” the bad out of him

While Eddie was the “trainer” in that scenario, that had to train the bad out of Buck in order for him to be acceptable.

And thats the funny thing isnt it? Buddie shippers have to completely warp and destroy Buck’s character to make him fit their mold of perfect partner for Eddie. They make him out to be this helpless person who can’t even tell Tommy he doesnt want to be called Evan, that needs rescuing from Tommy, that is a “mother figure” to Chris, that his “dream role” would be live in chef and maid for the diaz family..

When none of that is Buck.

Buck is a smart, independent and strong man. He has worked tirelessly on himself to know who he is and what he wants, which right now? Is with Tommy.

Bringing it back to my main point, their complaints of Tommy being more gay and Bucktommy intimacy ultimately just boil down to homophobia plain and simple, seeing real queer representation and not representation that they can specifically twist and cater to themselves through fic, headcanons or gifs, makes them uncomfortable

(could this be why so many of them ignore shows with canon m/m ships for favor of shows with fanon ones that will never actually happen? So they can make these demands for representation then shit on it as soon as they get it because its not fanfic? Its not their fetish specifically catered to them? I found it so hard to balance both as I noticed asceticism comes naturally when practising spirituality. i had struggled with this ever since i began my spiritual journey at the age of 18. granted that at that age i hadnt understood or embodied sensuality or femininity, i felt like being spiritual meant letting go of all desire and going into monk mode and it stressed me out when i couldnt live up to that ascetic image

and let me tell u something, the male spiritual path is the ascetic one that refrains from indulgence and lives like a stoic monk. men live in a world where they're treated like kings, so it makes sense for their spiritual path to be one where they refrain from it and restrict their own enjoyment of things (there are a lot of things you're forbidden to do etc)

however,,, women??? we no longer live in an era of matriarchal cultures and global goddess worship,, this is a man's world that we inhabit. our spiritual path is more so about relaxing into our own energy and forging our path in this world by doing things our way, away from the limitations imposed on us by Yang energy. women already live restricted lives, the female spiritual path is one of immersion and expansion because the universe is Yin (energy of creation and expansion)

its REALLYYY hard to find spiritual wisdom and teachings that are specifically catered to the female path because mainstream understandings of spirituality is male centric like everything else in the world :///

but no you dont have to sever ties with your femininity and sensuality in order to be spiritual,,, women are understood as being innately sexual (men sexualise us for just existing),, since men are tempted by everything they see (be it power, money, glory or women),, they have to detach from all of it to find the peace or whatever

women live highly restricted lives because men/patriarchal society see us as being inherently sexual and therefore a target for abuse. we CANNOT sever ties with our sensuality the way men can with theirs because its not inherent to them because Yang energy is NOT the energy of creation, they just exist, thats all,, they dont have an inwardly expansive quality, thats why they go around conquering things and establishing dominance in other ways (rising up the corporate ladder to seeking control over mother nature etc) they have to externalise this because internally they are empty.

this means reclaiming all the things society shames you for being/having. embodying the full spectrum of being a woman and living whole heartedly. if we look at goddesses, there are fierce aggressive Goddesses like Kali, Matangi, Dhumavati etc and more gentle ones like Tripura Sundari, Lakshmi, Bhuvaneshwari etc so being a woman is not just sunshine and rainbows. embodying feminine energy isnt just wearing pink and being a soft girl,,, a woman contains multitudes and society makes us think we have to be one thing or another, when the truth is, we can be ALL.

With that being said, there are just some downright disgusting things that should not be touched on in a specific manner and it’s becoming a problem on Tumblr, specifically the Hoyoverse side of things.

There should be NO REASON as to why my tag searches/feed are covered with “underaged reader gets sa’ed and groomed by their uncle/brother.” No reason at all. Thats gross. Thats disgusting. Especially when there are other canon minor characters involved.

“If you dont like it, dont read/block.” And I do. But there's more to this issue than what can simply be ignored.

When it comes to writing dark topics, it’s more to bring awareness and evoke a negative emotion from its audience to get them to go against the topic that is written. THAT is not the goal with these fanfics. It’s obvious fetish content, and all it is doing is normalizing and creating a polluted pool of freaks within its community. It’s not warning anyone of anything, its goal is to not stir up attention for a topic. Its pure purpose is to turn on and cater to those who fantasize about that stuff daily. It’s obvious in the way it’s written.

I also dont understand how that shit is pushed SO HEAVILY on Tumblr’s algorithm. No amount of filtered tags or blocks can get rid of these vile fanfics being put onto my dash. So many of them aren't properly warned, and are using everday tags.

There are sick people who are reading these fics that want to do what is written. And that's dangerous. I've seen comments that say “This is so good! I wish my brother would do this to me.” WHY ARE WE CATERING TO THESE PEOPLE?? Why are we fueling this disgusting taboo? Writing about these topics in this way does nothing but stir up fantasies that should not be encouraged.

If you write fanfics like these to get people going, seek therapy. If you also write these fics and publically post them to “cope”, also seek therapy because that is not healthy.

If you write or support these creators, please block/unfollow me. I do not want this kind of people within my community.

what bothers me personally with usamericans is that most, even the „progressive“ ones, dont seem to reflect their own hegemonial thinking. even the ones who are into social justice dont critically analyse how being socialised in the usa as an usamerican is impacting their thinking and actions, it seems to only be allowed from a perspective of race but not nationality. and i think this is an issue because the us are the most powerful country in the world and do teach its citizens certain self-perception to cement its power. for example, i feel like usamericans never know when to shut up. many seem to think that their input is not only valuable but wanted when often it really isnt. so many act like theyre the main character, even towards each other. many usamericans dont even think about the grip their culture has on other countries but there is no reverse, its a one-way street. i think this is an issue with english first language speakers in general but especially with the us since australia is isolated and the uk is also an island with a more peculiar than palatable culture, there is no australian or british hollywood which exports usamerican thinking on a mass scale, for example. usamericans dont even realise how many of their conceptualisations are usamerican and cant and shouldnt be applied or expected from others. how many sociocultural controversies start in the us and swap over to other countries, specifically liberal ones. etc. a lot of usamericans seem to have a heightened sense of self-importance and i think its because the us acts like its the default and everyone else is different. which is partly true seeing as trump for example was a blueprint for rightwingers all over the globe. and this seems to impact the way usamericans see themselves, no matter where on the political spectrum. so much is catering to you, so many of your ideas and words are adapted by others, so there must be something special about you. and even usamericans who are critical of the usa often fail to acknowledge this, or they would hold themselves differently in conversation and debate.

nationalism is an issue in every country but this kind of hegemony is specifically usamerican.

With all the negative discourse around Tomarrymort I just wanted to share how your writing - particularly NG, helped me through a tough time. I first came across NG not long after my grandmother died. I was having a lot of trouble dealing with my grief. So, being able to immerse myself in such a compelling and well-written story really helped at that time. I am the kind of person who delves deeply into fiction and reading NG helped me take my mind off real life events (not to mention I was inspired to start writing Tomarrymort myself).

💙 I think you stated something really nicely here that gets at the heart of why so many people have so many feelings. Fanfiction - or really any fiction writing - is just that, not real, an opportunity to get out of your own head and away from your own problems and into someone else’s story. People can get really emotional about the stories they cling to that way. Totally understandable and I can see why people have strong feelings when the story maybe doesn’t go a particular route. Feelings of all kinds are valid.

broadcasting your negative feelings by shit talking the author/content creator is not. thats why this is all so upsetting to me, and why I’m certain it bothers so many other people out here writing and posting for free online. I don’t really care if someone likes or doesn’t like what I’m writing - to each their own - but for people to be sharing what they see here on another platform just to btch about how unsafe and hurt they feel, for things I haven’t even written??? As though a creators exist solely to cater and coddle them, specifically? I’m the one who feels legitimately unsafe, and hurt. Writing fanfiction used to be my safe space, and readers like that are the ones making it hostile and scary. Guarantee no one writing 100k+ quality fics is out there being that entitled and shitty.
