“fool for love” is just a guy telling you his life story about how he once had the most absolutely abysmal night at a social gathering and it went so badly that he dedicated the rest of his existence to killing people and looking hot and never feeling like the guy nobody wants at the party again (except that this still constantly happens to him, and the only difference is he’s now getting dunked on while also having a cool goth look)

fool for love is so many things but ultimately it is about the two following things: 1) spike’s present-day perspective which is “you came to my house and invited me to a location to do an activity and as far as i’m concerned that’s close enough to a date. buy me dinner” 2) his past perspective as just a guy having social anxiety at a fancy dinner party and then immediately afterward embarking on a hundred year rampage that, unbeknownst to him, pretty much ends this very night
