Imagine being at the mercy of a mountain range’s worth of weather since time immemorial, and realizing one day after everypony in town can fly after all that most of you can not only stand on clouds now, you can move them around and control the weather. National holiday, second biggest thing to ever happen. Even professional soldiers get to act like foals for the day.
We got one! ☁️

YEEEEEEEEESSSS FAVORITE G5 PONYYYYY…
thank you I love this so much you are so right about Zipp being stressed out all the time. Probably from all the detective stuff she does now and royal stuff if you’re still planning on keeping that, also from having Pipp as a sister
I do personally headcanon Zipp as being a workaholic and constantly stressed so thank you for unknowingly confirming my thoughts. (I do listen to Surface Pressure from Encanto and think of Zipp, and also Hitch sometimes because they’re both the responsible ones. Until the show ruined Hitch but I digress. So maybe a duet with those two???)
also a bit unrelated, but I also headcanon Zipp being childhood besties with Thunder and Zoom (those pegasus guards.
I should just make a list of Zipp headcanons at this point huh
I agree with literally everything here. Surface Pressure is literally Zipp's song. (also thx for reminding me abt how much I hate what they did to Hitch)
If you do make a headcannon list, then please tag me!

Thoughts and Spoilers for MYM #8
Episode summary: Oh no, Sparky has gone missing!!
Hitch is frantic and the ponies are searching everywhere . . . but unbeknownst to them Misty is hiding Sparky right under their noses, in a supply closet in the Crystal Brighthouse. Opaline has promised her a cutie mark if she brings Sparky to the dark castle, but wrangling the baby dragon is harder than it seems! In the end Misty doesn’t succeed in bringing Sparky to the castle, but she does capture some of his dragonfire in a jar for Opaline.
General Thoughts: Hitch’s connection with Sparky and his worries about whether he’s being a good “dragon dad” were very heartfelt. I like that we see a male character in a nurturing, child-care role, which is still pretty uncommon. The B-plot with his friends getting in each other’s way was a little too simple for me (it seems like they should be past that) but it didn’t take up too much time so it’s fine.
Misty was the standout of this episode. You can really see how being raised by Opaline has influenced her. She will do ANYTHING to get her cutie mark, but she’s also naive and blind Opaline’s true nature . . . Misty promises Sparky that she will return him to Maretime Bay later, as though Opaline would ever let him out of her sight again.
Her return to Opaline, empty-handed (except some dragonfire caught in a jar) is heartrending as she crawls across the floor, practically hyperventilating. The dragonfire super-charges Opaline’s magic, but not to the extent she wants, and she unleashes on Misty like we’ve never seen before, screaming at her and calling her useless. This feels like a pivotal moment, where the scales start to fall from Misty’s eyes. Up to this point she has always been solidly in Opaline’s corner--believing that she is the rightful ruler of Equestria, trying to bond with her, trying to make her proud. But here she ends up crying in her room. “For somepony made of fire, I’ve never met a heart so cold.”
Other random thoughts:
- I liked Hitch’s Batman impression. And he even got Zoom and Thunder in on it!
- Misty managing an incredible acrobatic feat (dodging Sparky’s Home Alone traps), only to berate herself for her one mistake (tripping afterwards) was apropos
- awwww!
- I do feel Sparky is cuter in 2D (like the Tell Your Tale shorts) and 3D. Like, I don’t find him repellent or anything, but I dunno, his face could be better. I like his horns a lot, though.
- I really like how strong light shines through the ponies’ ears, just like an actual animal with a thin ear
- Zipp’s stressing me out by leaving the nail polish hanging over the edge like that
- Pipp: “Ooo, that is a good point”
Zipp, instantly: “Is it though?”
- Pearl, the dog! I assume she’ll be a pet in a future playset
- Hitch tells the seagulls to search “the old defense factory”, which implies that CanterLogic did shut down. I hope we get an update on what Phyllis is doing at some point.
- the dramatic lighting in Hitch’s Batman scenes are *chef’s kiss*
- Her body language . . . Awww Misty :(
- Opaline says it’s been “hundreds of moons” since she last saw dragonfire; I’m going to assume a moon equals a year because it would be odd for someone to say they saw something “hundreds of months ago”
- The texturing on this tar is just really nice. Like it has that oil-slick patterning on the top and everything. Also, both tar and feathers are being stored in the basement. Oh animators, you so sly!
- Not only does Opaline’s horn and wings fare up, but parts of her body become opalescent
- Opaline’s speech is incredible. “Alicorns ruling like they were meant to.” “No more of this equality stuff.” “The citizens of Equestria should fear and love their immortal rulers!”
- This is basically a deconstruction of G4, where that was the role of alicorns. I remember there was a lot of fan speculation about Sunny becoming the new ruler of Equestria after the G5 movie came out, before there was other media.
- Poor Misty, Opaline was terrifying when she lashed out. What a great villain though!
- I liked Opaline’s simple, impatient toss of her head to activate her magic scrying pool
- Oh noooo, is that a childhood drawing of Opaline? Oh nooooo.

Backmarket has *excellent* computers- I bought my hp laptop from them for a little under 400- 16gb ram, i5 with a 256 SSD hard drive. Here’s one that’s a year newer for, I kid you not, a couple hundred bucks. Runs zoom like a dream, and the browsers are all great. Has a fingerprint scanner if that’s your thing, and it has a backlit keyboard. I bought this guy last year and it still runs like a dream! They have some other excellent picks as well if you have the money to get something newer. Do also look at the GHz for the processor- anything below a 1.5 ish should be a no-go.
So You Need To Buy A Computer But You Don't Know What Specs Are Good These Days
Hi.
This is literally my job.
Lots of people are buying computers for school right now or are replacing computers as their five-year-old college laptop craps out so here's the standard specs you should be looking for in a (windows) computer purchase in August 2023.
PROCESSOR
Intel i5 (no older than 10th Gen)
Ryzen 7
You can get away with a Ryzen 5 but an intel i3 should be an absolute last resort. You want at least an intel i5 or a Ryzen 7 processor. The current generation of intel processors is 13, but anything 10 or newer is perfectly fine. DO NOT get a higher performance line with an older generation; a 13th gen i5 is better than an 8th gen i7. (Unfortunately I don't know enough about ryzens to tell you which generation is the earliest you should get, but staying within 3 generations is a good rule of thumb)
RAM
8GB absolute minimum
If you don't have at least 8GB RAM on a modern computer it's going to be very, very slow. Ideally you want a computer with at least 16GB, and it's a good idea to get a computer that will let you add or swap RAM down the line (nearly all desktops will let you do this, for laptops you need to check the specs for Memory and see how many slots there are and how many slots are available; laptops with soldered RAM cannot have the memory upgraded - this is common in very slim laptops)
STORAGE
256GB SSD
Computers mostly come with SSDs these days; SSDs are faster than HDDs but typically have lower storage for the same price. That being said: SSDs are coming down in price and if you're installing your own drive you can easily upgrade the size for a low cost. Unfortunately that doesn't do anything for you for the initial purchase.
A lot of cheaper laptops will have a 128GB SSD and, because a lot of stuff is stored in the cloud these days, that can be functional. I still recommend getting a bit more storage than that because it's nice if you can store your music and documents and photos on your device instead of on the cloud. You want to be able to access your files even if you don't have internet access.
But don't get a computer with a big HDD instead of getting a computer with a small SSD. The difference in speed is noticeable.
SCREEN (laptop specific)
Personally I find that touchscreens have a negative impact on battery life and are easier to fuck up than standard screens. They are also harder to replace if they get broken. I do not recommend getting a touch screen unless you absolutely have to.
A lot of college students especially tend to look for the biggest laptop screen possible; don't do that. It's a pain in the ass to carry a 17" laptop around campus and with the way that everything is so thin these days it's easier to damage a 17" screen than a 14" screen.
On the other end of that: laptops with 13" screens tend to be very slim devices that are glued shut and impossible to work on or upgrade.
Your best bet (for both functionality and price) is either a 14" or a 15.6" screen. If you absolutely positively need to have a 10-key keyboard on your laptop, get the 15.6". If you need something portable more than you need 10-key, get a 14"
FORM FACTOR (desktop specific)
If you purchase an all-in-one desktop computer I will begin manifesting in your house physically. All-in-ones take away every advantage desktops have in terms of upgradeability and maintenance; they are expensive and difficult to repair and usually not worth the cost of disassembling to upgrade.
There are about four standard sizes of desktop PC: All-in-One (the size of a monitor with no other footprint), Tower (Big! probably at least two feet long in two directions), Small Form Factor Tower (Very moderate - about the size of a large shoebox), and Mini/Micro/Tiny (Small! about the size of a small hardcover book).
If you are concerned about space you are much better off getting a MicroPC and a bracket to put it on your monitor than you are getting an all-in-one. This will be about a million percent easier to work on than an all-in-one and this way if your monitor dies your computer is still functional.
Small form factor towers and towers are the easiest to work on and upgrade; if you need a burly graphics card you need to get a full size tower, but for everything else a small form factor tower will be fine. Most of our business sales are SFF towers and MicroPCs, the only time we get something larger is if we have to put a $700 graphics card in it. SFF towers will accept small graphics cards and can handle upgrades to the power supply; MicroPCs can only have the RAM and SSD upgraded and don't have room for any other components or their own internal power supply.
WARRANTY
Most desktops come with either a 1 or 3 year warranty; either of these is fine and if you want to upgrade a 1 year to a 3 year that is also fine. I've generally found that if something is going to do a warranty failure on desktop it's going to do it the first year, so you don't get a hell of a lot of added mileage out of an extended warranty but it doesn't hurt and sometimes pays off to do a 3-year.
Laptops are a different story. Laptops mostly come with a 1-year warranty and what I recommend everyone does for every laptop that will allow it is to upgrade that to the longest warranty you can get with added drop/damage protection. The most common question our customers have about laptops is if we can replace a screen and the answer is usually "yes, but it's going to be expensive." If you're purchasing a low-end laptop, the parts and labor for replacing a screen can easily cost more than half the price of a new laptop. HOWEVER, the way that most screens get broken is by getting dropped. So if you have a warranty with drop protection, you just send that sucker back to the factory and they fix it for you.
So, if it is at all possible, check if the manufacturer of a laptop you're looking at has a warranty option with drop protection. Then, within 30 days (though ideally on the first day you get it) of owning your laptop, go to the manufacturer site, register your serial number, and upgrade the warranty. If you can't afford a 3-year upgrade at once set a reminder for yourself to annually renew. But get that drop protection, especially if you are a college student or if you've got kids.
And never, ever put pens or pencils on your laptop keyboard. I've seen people ruin thousand dollar, brand-new laptops that they can't afford to fix because they closed the screen on a ten cent pencil. Keep liquids away from them too.
LIFESPAN
There's a reasonable chance that any computer you buy today will still be able to turn on and run a program or two in ten years. That does not mean that it is "functional."
At my office we estimate that the functional lifespan of desktops is 5-7 years and the functional lifespan of laptops is 3-5 years. Laptops get more wear and tear than desktops and desktops are easier to upgrade to keep them running. At 5 years for desktops and 3 years for laptops you should look at upgrading the RAM in the device and possibly consider replacing the SSD with a new (possibly larger) model, because SSDs and HDDs don't last forever.
COST
This means that you should think of your computers as an annual investment rather than as a one-time purchase. It is more worthwhile to pay $700 for a laptop that will work well for five years than it is to pay $300 for a laptop that will be outdated and slow in one year (which is what will happen if you get an 8th gen i3 with 8GB RAM). If you are going to get a $300 laptop try to get specs as close as possible to the minimums I've laid out here.
If you have to compromise on these specs, the one that is least fixable is the processor. If you get a laptop with an i3 processor you aren't going to be able to upgrade it even if you can add more RAM or a bigger SSD. If you have to get lower specs in order to afford the device put your money into the processor and make sure that the computer has available slots for upgrade and that neither the RAM nor the SSD is soldered to the motherboard. (one easy way to check this is to search "[computer model] RAM upgrade" on youtube and see if anyone has made a video showing what the inside of the laptop looks like and how much effort it takes to replace parts)
Computers are expensive right now. This is frustrating, because historically consumer computer prices have been on a downward trend but since 2020 that trend has been all over the place. Desktop computers are quite expensive at the moment (August 2023) and decent laptops are extremely variably priced.
If you are looking for a decent, upgradeable laptop that will last you a few years, here are a couple of options that you can purchase in August 2023 that have good prices for their specs:
14" Lenovo - $670 - 11th-gen i5, 16GB RAM, and 512GB SSD
15.6" HP - $540 - 11th-gen i5, 16GB RAM, and 256GB SSD
14" Dell - $710 - 12th-gen i5, 16GB RAM, and 256GB SSD
If you are looking for a decent, affordable desktop that will last you a few years, here are a couple of options that you can purchase in August 2023 that have good prices for their specs:
SFF HP - $620 - 10th-gen i5, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD
SFF Lenovo - $560 - Ryzen 7 5000 series, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD
Dell Tower - $800 - 10th-gen i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD
If I were going to buy any of these I'd probably get the HP laptop or the Dell Tower. The HP Laptop is actually a really good price for what it is.
Anyway happy computering.

COMMENTARY
Ben Shapiro LOSING HIS MIND Over TIm Walz The way Ben Shapiro describes him in these segments makes Tim Walz sound like Ronald Reagan, a Governor, avaucual,, down home foot ball coach, like Ron the Life Guard, he's a walking , talking Andy Hardy movie. Right out of the New Deal like Reagan, All those RINO's who want to restore the Party of Lincoln can vote Democrat once in their life this one time and clear the deck of the GOP of Prohect 2025
The difference between DUtch and Tim is that Walz didn't play Command Sergeant Major on a movie lot, he was a CSM. There is nobody in Project 2025, little pepsqueks like Ben Shapiro and Rich Lowry up to mobsters like him, Except, of course, for the Project 2025 Amry NCOs and Officers are like Michael Flynn, All the Pro-Life chaplains have been pumping the Chiristian Nationalism theology of Project 2025 into the military community and is major factor in the elevated rate of suicides, 22/ay. of combat vets and young men who identify with Kurt Cobain, and are the engine of sexual assault inspired by the Total Depravity doctrine of Calvin,
What you Progressives need to do is to explain to RINOs why piling onto the Harris/Walz DEI ZenVusiness Express into the Green New Deal, Biden/Harris/Walz is completing Reagan's New Federaalsim and Tayolr Swift and Beyonce are lanuching the global mobilization for the paradigm shfit of Stage 3 of Eisenhower's 1956 Presidential Platform.
To a great degree, Eisehhower's 1956 Presidential Platform is a process to ttranform the Militaray Industrial Complex into Bernie Sander's social safety net, Because of George Marshall's reform of the General Staff with the addition of G5, the Army had a huge amount of data on how constitntion capitalism was healing the wounds in Europe ffrom 1900 years of lethal combat and he and his brain trust at Columbia University conceived of the process Eisenhower put into motion as a froce multiplier of Truman's desegregation of the Federal Government, usefully reversing Woodrow Wilson's Jim Crow bigotry that is considered revealed righteeousness in the PResbyterian Church, USA, particularly fans of Norman Vincet Peale's Prosperity Gospel, at the center of Project 2025.
Do a review on your show with as a ZOOM discussion of the Buckley-Baldwin Cambridge Union debate in 1965, Baldwin represents the BLM/DEI/Truman de-Nazification of the federal government and Buckley represents Project 2025 and the original sin of the Presbyterian Chrus USA, Buckley's Negro Problem, This is another reason for RINO's to vote for Reagan's New Federalsim and Harris/Walz and Gen Z. Quit worring about the zero-sum politics of Ben Shapir and Project 2025 and promote the progressive captialism of the Starship Capitalism of 2001: A Space Odyssey of the Green New Deal set in motion by Eisehower's 1956 Presidential Platform, The only thing in the way since 1981 has been Project 2025.

Northern lights very far south last night after the arrival of particles from a class G5 solar storm. These pictures were taken with a Nikon D7000 with a Nikon 12-24 mm f4 zoom used at 12 mm and f5.6. Exposures were 1.6 s and in the originals I played around with ISO speeds from 3200 down to 560. Most of my 60 photographs were taken at ISO 1600. Here are a few to show what you couldn't see but the camera can capture.
Visually the green northern horizon (all these are essentially looking north) was obvious and occasionally a deep red patch could be observed. What turned out to be the pink (often then green) rays were just at the limit of visibility in light polluted London and mostly appeared grey to my eye.

i usually dislike trying to assign direct ancestors to the g5 ponies simply because i think it was a long time ago and i like focusing on the ponies now but my main three ancestor headcanons have to be jazz hooves being a descendant of the spa ponies, zoom zephyrwing being a cozy glow descendant (somehow since she is. a statue) because they're both pegasi with rooks as their cutie marks, and silverstream being a founder of the sparkling seas culture because she was a successor to laughter and the sparkling seaponies value laughter - although this one will probably be expanded on as set your sail/TYT eps about seaponies roll out

Which option is Chicken?
It’s a map episode and it features our favorite trio of kids who happen to already own a business. The Crusaders are going to Mount Eris to solve a Friendship Problem. Luckily for them, Twilight has to come along to get a permission slip for Silverstream. So while she’ll occasionally show up, the focus is on the Girls and their mission.
As well as show you the tourist attractions of the Hippogriff Kingdom. Every weekend, Hippogriffs have celebrations and competition for many fun competitions. And if you’re a Sounds of Music fan, the Harmonizing Heights is for you. Lots of open land, beautiful scenery, and living up to the name, the perfect place to sing.
But if you prefer to live Under the Sea you got Seaquestria, where you can be transformed into a fish, see exotic creatures, and participate in jam sessions as well. With swimming giving you the same sensation as flying, no other place can give you flightless creatures the same maneuverability as a Pegasus. With such great options, it’s hard to choose.
And it is hard to choose for Terramar: Silverstream’s brother. By now every person he knows has already decided to stick with one place over the other and he’s the only one (as far as we know) who hasn’t made the decision. Gonna guess Silverstream stuck with the lands because she rarely changes to a Seapony as well as her speech later in the season.
So that’s the Crusaders’ Mission: help Terramar make a choice. For Pro-Land is Sweetie Belle who is enraptured with the Harmonizing Heights. So much so that before Terramar even actually starts saying about the Legends zooms in there like I do when it’s a chicken parm dinner. So she’s super biased when it comes to the land.
Scootaloo is our Sebastian of this debate. She loves to live under the sea especially since she still has not learned to fly (which even to this day is pretty much assumed a medical condition. Imagine if the Starlight special that’s coming up for G5 just reveals she eventually does). Which means the tiebreaker for the debate is Apple Bloom, who can see how difficult it is to choose between the two.
Which leads to a song where Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo pitch their preference, but turns into an argument. Since it ends with them unable to come up with a compromise, Terramar is even more confused. So when Twilight shows up, Apple Bloom steps back because she knows who is the blame for his issues. But then we see that there isn’t really a problem.
Terramar’s parents (his father sticking as a Hippogriff and his mother sticking as a Seapony) are very friendly with each other despite their preferences. Soon everyone in the area were interacting with each other like it's been a while but all on friendly terms. That gives the Crusaders’ an idea: show Terramar that he doesn’t need to choose.
His parents ensured him that regardless of his heritage or his home, he’s free to go to either world like he’s always been. It’s also a great metaphor for divorced parents and their kids. You don’t have to decide which one you have to stick with. You can have both of them in your life regardless. And with a promise that Terramar would return (which he does), the episode ends with a happy Seapony jumping on land.
Still a fun story and really entertaining jokes. I love how into their places Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo are. The song is nice. And the lesson is really good. It also does a great job letting us explore Mount Eris/Seaquestria without the worry of the Storm King and having to steal a McGuffin that probably wouldn’t have done anything.

Please read below more Information about Sikh Kara: Akara (Punjabi:ਕੜਾ(Gurmukhi),کڑا(Shahmukhi) कड़ा(Devanagari)), is a steel or iron (sarb loh)bracelet, worn by allinitiatedSikhs. It is one of the fivekakars or 5Ks — external articles of faith — that identify a Sikh as dedicated totheir religious order. The kara was instituted by the tenthSikh Guru GuruGobind Singh at theBaisakhiAmrit Sanskar in 1699. Guru Gobind Singh Ji explained: He does not recognize anyone else except me, not even the bestowal of charities, performance of merciful acts, austerities and restraint on pilgrim-stations; the perfect light of the Lord illuminates his heart, then consider him as the immaculate Khalsa. The kara is to constantly remind the Sikh disciple to do God's work, a constant reminder of the Sikh's mission on this earth and that he or she must carry out righteous and true deeds and actions, keeping with theadvice given by the Guru. The Kara is a symbol of unbreakable attachment and commitment to God. It is in the shape of a circle which has no beginning and no end, like the eternal nature of God. It is also a symbol of the Sikh brotherhood. As the Sikhs'holy text theGuru Granth Sahib says "In the tenth month, you were made into a human being, O my merchant friend, and you were given your allotted time to perform good deeds."[3] Similarly, BhagatKabir reminds the Sikh to always keep one's consciousness withGod: "With your hands and feet, do all your work, but let your consciousness remain with the Immaculate Lord." The basic kara is a simple unadorned steel bracelet, but other forms exist. It was historically used like aknuckle-duster for hand-to-hand combat. Battlefield variations include kara with spikes or sharp edges. Sikh soldiers of the British Indian army would settle disputes by competing in a form of boxing known asloh-musti (lit. iron fist) with a kara on one hand. Brilliant finish and very decorative.
