"Get yourself a nice Sunnyvale wife, Nickie," Joseph urged him, his fingers gripping Nick's arm tightly when he'd caught him red-handed staring at Ziggy Berman. "Leave the Shadyside trash where it belongs..."

But Nick was never one to listen to his dad's life advice, or at least, his one about Shadysiders...or especially about Ziggy Berman.

So what's a father to do, but teach his son a valuable lesson on how things work in Sunnyvale...and how they don't on the other side of the tracks.

Nick Goode would learn one way or another that hanging around Shadyside trash will only bring you misery and pain--and Camp Nightwing is the perfect opportunity to teach that same lesson.

But, once again, Nick Goode defies his father's expectations--and ended up saving the lives of many campers and counselors, both Shadyside and Sunnyvale alike. But most importantly, he was able to save the one person that Joseph Goode wished had died in the massacre.

Ziggy Berman.

And not only that, Nick is onto his game now. He understands what lurks beneath all the Goode men's fortune... and is not luck.

Nick refuses to play the devil's game. He won't stand for another Nightwing, Ruby Lane, or any other Shadyside tragedy to unfold.

And Joseph won't stand for his son to run off into the sunset with some brash and kooky Shadysiders.

They are at a stale mate it seems.

Nick Goode must keep up appearances, if not to keep their dark secret buried as long as he can...but to save Ziggy Berman from his father's wrath.

And Joseph knows he has to abandon the scarification of the local Shadysiders to keep his son from running off into Ziggy Berman's arms...

So Nick married himself to a nice, Sunnyvale wife to appease his father...and Joseph offered his last deal to the devil the night of Nightwing.

But as it's been said before, the devil is petty as hell, and won't take a change in the same old narrative lying down. Souls are to be sacrificed, especially those of Shadyside... and there's nothing Sheriff Goode or his little deputy son can do to change the fact that the devil is the one who runs the show...
