Still obsessed on how the author of SAO failed to believably establish Kirito as a badass without showing his training and how others pulled it off... And remembered how Oda pulled it off en-masse with One Piece, twice:

When our guys arrive on the Grand Line we had hints the place was tough from the crushing defeat of the Pirate Armada and the sheer danger presented by Arlong, a pirate from the Grand Line, tough the former could be ignored on account of the Armada being led by an idiot with the horrible luck of stumbling on the World's Strongest Swordsman and the latter seemed to be an outlier on account of the Fishmen being stronger than humans. And indeed the first opponents faced there, Mr. 9 and Miss Wednesday, were jokes... Then we got the spot of COMPLETELY DERANGED WEATHER between Reverse Mountain and the first islands of the Grand Line and the news the rest of the Grand Line at sea is only a little better, and suddenly the reader knew that anyone that sailed on that sea and lived had to be a badass (and Zoro was a stupidly heavy sleeper for sleeping through THAT). There was no need to see how the future enemies or allies became strong, just knowing they sailed that sea was enough. And it retroactively restored those two jokes' creed, alongside hinting that Buggy wasn't just a clown with detachable limbs when he started leading his crew on that insane sea with no trouble...

At Sabaody, the end of the first part of the Grand Line, Silver Raleigh, one of the few people that got to the end of Grand Line, revealed that people that live in the second half have nicknamed their sea New World and the first half PARADISE. And just like that, the reader knew the people from the new sea put the old enemies to shame, or why a monster like Gecko Moria lost his entire crew, his chin (still wondering why), and most of his badassery fighting one of the rulers of that sea, and not even the strongest. Plus, that Red Leg Zeff used to be a monster, since he was the first guy to use that name...
