my roommate saying she’s paying for college w/o her parents help bc it’s her money, but that money is her 529 college fund and stocks she owns like...
#your money that your pARENTS GAVE YOU THROUGHOUT YOUR LIFE#and it turned out the stock she owns was a GIFT FROM HER MOM'S BOSS#and she was really aggressive abt it too she was like ''it's my own fucking money''#for context her parents are visiting over the break and my other roommate was joking about having them pay for a costco run#and she's getting a little defensive like ''let's not spend my parents money etc etc'' which i get if we were talking unnecessary shit#but like... we're talking about groceries. and you're on a full ride scholarship. and your parents are rich. they can buy some fucking frui#*fruit#like my mom spent so much money on the shit YOU'VE BEEN EATING and WE'RE POOR#i like my roommate and all but she needs a serious reality check#your dad's a fucking high level professor at northwestern university and he recently got a promotion and your mom's a rich financial worker#and she's also a half-white latina and we bond about it a lot but...... her dad's a professor#my dad was a construction worker and now a stay at home dad#we have VERY different lives#idk i'm just slowly losing my mind being surrounded by rich ppl who don't realize they're rich#tea vents
