It okay, I know you've been busy and Tumblr sometimes eats the asks and trust me, I try not to he too persistent Bout asks and I deeply apologize :(
In the ask, that scene where Tyrion played the game of thrones with Petyr, Lord Varys and Maester Pycelle about who he was going to propose a marriage between Myrcella with either Robin Ayrryn of the Vale (it's been awhile since I've watched it), Theon Greyjoy of the Salt Islands or even to Doane so she would be safe if King's Landing fell
What IF he also did the same thing for Joanna!lookalike? He knows that ever since Joffrey became king, things have been going down and Tyrion worries if his nieces will live through it; so thats when he sets plans into motion:
He tells Petyr Baelish that he plans to marry Myrcella to Robin Arryn and Joanna!lookalike to Robb Stark in hopes of ending this war
To Lord Varys, he tells him that he plans to wed Myrcella to Theon and Joanna!lookalike to Euron Greyjoy (not like he really would, he just testing for allies, plus Cersei kill him)
And he tells Maester Pycelle about marrying his nieces off to Dorne; when Myrcella wedded to Tristan I think his name was, and Joanna!lookalike to Oberyn Martell
And of course, Cersei is furious when she finds out as not only is it an insult to her, but to HER oldest daughter; forced to marry a man half her age just like Cersei was to Robert, plus Oberyn already has a paramour AND bastard daughters! So it's basically an insult to her daughter!! 😤
But Tyrion wants his nieces safe, especially for his eldest to he away from her overbearing family, forced to live in the same place as his mother as they basically dehumanize her from being her own person; so its best for her to he spirited away, have a breather away from her suffocating family... :(
In Tyrion’s mind he’s doing everything in his power to ensure Myrcella and Joanna!lookalike!Reader will be safe and protected but to Cersei this is just him trying to take away her precious children and a way to just simply hurt her. She sees nothing about this being for either of her girls’ safety. How could selling both her daughters to treacherous men in a cruel world come anywhere close to being protection??? The best protection either girl has is Jaime or the Mountain and both of them are right there in King’s Landing so why even bother outsourcing.
If Tyrion is so hellbent on sending away one of her daughters then Cersei would much rather have Joanna!Lookalike!Reader stay by her side where they belong. As much as she loves her darling Myrcella, Cersei can’t have the Reader taken away from her again.
Meanwhile, Tyrion isn’t just trying to keep his nieces safe, he’s also trying to get Joanna!lookalike far away from Cersei. He knows his sister and he knows she’ll only take Joanna!lookalike down with her in the end. At least this way the Reader will have a better chance at having some semblance of a fulfilling life so long as they’re away from Cersei and Tywin.
Speaking of which, without a doubt Cersei will run to their father to tell him all about what Tyrion is trying to do. Tywin will surely put a stop to it, at least he’d put a stop to Joanna!lookalike!Reader’s proposals. Myrcella would still end up being shipped off one way or another, sooner or later. But not the Reader, they’re off limits after all. And Tywin would have some very choice words for Tyrion for even thinking of doing such a thing with Joanna!lookalike!Reader in the first place.

I know this might seem like a bit of a random question, but what are some criticisms of Slightly Damned you can't stand, and what are some you think are at least somewhat valid? I only ask because I do have a few problems with the comic (not really gonna go into here because I don't want to come off as too critical obviously) but I feel like some of the more noteworthy ones have been too long established to just change it altogether, and the best one can do is make something better from its foundation (which I must say, you've done a really good job at ^^)
The complaints that I think are the most unfair are by bigots who think my comic is only getting more inclusive because I'm pandering to wokeness or whatever. These people are also the most likely to misgender me and have no idea what they're talking about. They just can't stand the bare minimum of gay and are often hypocritical, using fallacies as the basis of their arguments. It's tempting to want to argue back, but when has that ever worked on the internet? I think the most valid complaint is that the pacing of the comic is too slow. Sure. Not much I can do about that one. My comic alone doesn't pay all my bills. If I focus exclusively on work, I get depressed, so I have to goof off sometimes. I'm just one person. I don't have a team. I'm doing the best I can already. Another valid complaint is that people don't like my blend of humor and drama. Sometimes readers find it inappropriate or jarring. It's valid because I recognize it as a difference of opinion and understand why they feel that way. But I don't care. I like my weird mix of goofy faces and drama. I sometimes make jokes during periods of great stress in real life. I love all the wacky faces and over-the-top cartoon action among dire circumstances in comics like One Piece and Usagi Yojimbo. Like, it's just my style, man I don't seek out unsolicited advice about my comic. Some people may think that's snobbish of me, but the truth is, very little of what you find that way is actually valuable.
"And as to those critics, she said that she’s managed to do something that might make us all better off- she doesn’t read the comment sections. In perhaps the most roundabout poignant part of the talk, she likened receiving feedback about her work as being like consuming food. She would take a pie from someone she knew and trusted but compared taking unsolicited barbs from strangers as “licking a handle on the subway.” She used to pay very close attention to that kind of critique because she felt that it somehow would make her a better creator but ultimately decided that it was only toxic." - I HAVE SEEN OLIVIA JAIMES, THE CARTOONIST BEHIND THE NEW NANCY, by Rocko Jerome (2018)
Besides the outright hateful sentiments, a lot of unsolicited criticism can be categorized as "I don't like this story because it didn't do what I wanted it to do." Which is fine. I do the same thing when I try to process stories and talk to my friends about them.
But I don't get in the author's face to tell them I think they did a bad job. At the end of the day, no matter how crap I think someone's story might be, I'm not psychic. I don't really know if they did exactly what they set out to do. For example, people have never stopped giving me crap about the death of certain characters. But their whining has only made my convictions stronger. I don't like when other stories don't take deaths seriously, with a real sense of permanence and grief that is not easily solved. To someone else, seeing that character be alive might have solved all sorts of problems they had-- but that's not my story. I've had someone tell me that the focus on Buwaro and Kieri's mushy romance is too distracting to the main story. I don't think that person knew that a large part of why I started making this comic in the first place was as a vehicle for my OTP. I also want to make said vehicle entertaining and worthwhile. If I didn't succeed for that person, that's fine. But don't tell me that half the reason I made the comic is distracting from it. What do they know about what I want? What do you really know about what the author wanted to achieve? That isn't to say that my comic is immune to scrutiny. Of course it has problems; every story has problems, depending on your perspective and the basis by which it's getting judged. I've solicited and received thoughtful criticism and helpful advice from teachers, my advisor, my friends, and from reading/watching tutorials. Some I agreed with, others I chose to ignore. Sometimes it just took a while for me to come around. I hope I never stop learning and improving. Like you said, I have to keep working with the foundation I already set. But I don't feel trapped by it; my creativity is being challenged in new ways. I have a lot of playing pieces and now I get to see what kinds of connections I can make between them with my older, more experienced (both good and bad) mind. Since Slightly Damned is a story serialized over a long period of time, a certain amount of it is made up as I go along. I do have plans and goals, of course, but I'm also discovering this world alongside my readers.

sorry if you have already answered this, but are we getting any queer rep in Long Live Evil? 💕 i am super excited to see what you've cooked up for us either way!
I came back after I'd gone off on one, seeing the post had struck a chord and being thankful but fearful of my inbox. Let me say with delighted surprise that all the asks are very kind.
Thank you for this one, sweet anon. I am so excited and so nervous about my best beloved, Long Live Evil, and about coming back with a new book of my own after so long, when I believed for a long time it was hopeless.
I'm really grateful to find readers waiting for me. But I know readers are naturally more invested in characters they know: I extremely appreciate you taking an interest in the future.
So, short answer: YEAH you are!
Long answer: Long Live Evil wouldn't exist without its queer narratives.
C.S. Pacat and I were talking in our virtual Brookline Booksmith event recently about our favourite Disney villains. C.S. Pacat picked Maleficent, a fine choice. I picked Snow White's Evil Queen. We agreed we loved most of them.
Here's the relevant excerpt I was quoting in my last post from Carmen Maria Machado's In The Dream House, saying 'I think a lot about queer villains, the problem and pleasure and audacity of them.' Well... me too.
I think many of us have experienced feeling made wrong in some way - for not wanting what society said we should or being what we were expected to be - and that one step along that journey of discovery is going 'Okay, if it's wicked, I'll just BE wicked.' And that's part of why those characters appeal - because they seem free, and free of pain.
But modern storytelling isn't confined to coding, and audiences can now feel free to expect, not the certainty, but the possibility characters who aren't introduced as such still might actually turn out to be LGBT+. The essays I've read about Supernatural, Teen Wolf, Sherlock, Ted Lasso, Fox 9-1-1... I think the latest argued Jaime Lannister was bisexual. (Pretty persuasive.)
I remember reading the Raven Cycle going 'oh? OH.' I remember being at a writing retreat in 2013 and running through the halls screaming about Nico diAngelo. Ten years later we got a Nico diAngelo book co-written by Rick Riordan and the amazing Mark Oshiro. I watched Red, White and Royal Blue with a friend and she said 'honestly I hope the guys get together, but...' and I (having read the book) silenced myself with a herculean effort and watched her hopes come true. I didn't know about The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and almost dropped the book in a swimming pool. But I've also read and watched many things thinking, just maybe... oh, no. Still that hope existing is meaningful, the thought that if the story had gone differently, if this revelation had happened, if this realisation had happened, if, if, if...
Long Live Evil is a story about the story going differently and asking yourself questions about your own nature, and the escape to fiction of those who really need escape. The book is based on that 'if,' and the 'if' itself is joyous, and brings me back to the idea of gleefully transgressing the narrative that much villain love is based on.
It's also an ensemble story with a rogue's gallery of characters and multiple PoVs. (I was much inspired by the Six of Crows ensemble.) So it isn't about any one character's romance, and by the book's nature there exist many possibilities. A critique partner read and said 'I didn't know you were going THERE' and I responded 'Should I?'
I've never been one to confirm where stories are going, and I won't do so now. I'm not talking about any one character or telling you a direction.
I'm just saying yes to rep. It's baked in.

Regarding Hyle Hunt
There's been a little discourse regarding the role one Ser Hyle Hunt will play in Lady Brienne of Tarth's storyline going forward. Some people seem to think that he is her perfect match because they hate the idea that Brienne deserves to have a romance with the man she wants--aka one Ser Jaime Lannister--because that messes with the narrative they want to push, whatever that narrative may be.
Some people think that Ser Hyle Hunt is a more interesting and more remarkable man than he truly is, when nothing he's said or done to this point has shown him to be anything of the sort. Personally, I'm not impressed with a man who set up a bet with his buddies over a young noblewoman's virginity--which was essentially the kiss of death to said young woman, who didn't have much going for her on the marriage mart in the first place. (Don't give me the "men will be men" explanation. That makes you no better than Randyll Tarly.) And his proposal of marriage boils down to: "Hey, baby, you've got an island and a lot of money, I've got a functional dick that's already proven to be fertile. I can close my eyes and blow out the candle. Let's do it." How romantic.
There has been absolutely no indication that Brienne will ever love this man, or even care the slightest for him. Threatening to turn someone into a eunuch isn't playful banter, especially not when said man once bet on her virginity and the last time she confronted someone(s) in that bet, she beat the living shit out of them. She hasn't forgotten, and she really hasn't forgiven. And when it comes to Hyle, she never really will, because in her eyes, what he did was the worst of all of them. He came the closest to winning by doing the one thing none of the others did--he made her feel included, like she might be earning a little bit of respect in that camp. Then she found out it was all a lie.
"But she hated Jaime at first!" Yeah, but that was before Jaime: told a lie about Tarth's wealth to save her from rape; shouted "sapphires" and risked a beating to save her from rape again; risked his own life to save hers by jumping unarmed into a bear pit (with only one hand to boot), and revealed the truth about why he killed Aerys, thus revealing that rather than it being a callous act, he'd saved an entire city of innocents--a noble act. THEN he put his trust in her to find Sansa, gifting her with a horse, armor, and a priceless sword. He gave her the respect Hyle only pretended to give her, expecting nothing in return.
What has Hyle done on their road trip? When Brienne kills the three former Bloody Mummers, I'm curious: how long was Hyle there? At least long enough to see her and Pod burying Nimble Dick, but the way he's described sitting there casually makes me think he'd been there longer. Watching. Sitting back doing nothing while she might've been killed. And we don't know what his true motives are in following her. If she finds Sansa, is he going to help her get Sansa to safety--or is he going to betray her and try to turn Sansa in to the Crown for the reward?
If you want any further proof that she doesn't care about Hyle, think about who she tried to bargain for when Lady Stoneheart was about to hang them all. Not herself, and certainly not Hyle. Podrick, the boy. And when they were hanging, as she was dying. the only person she had eyes for was Pod.
And who did she presumably agree to kill Jaime for? Podrick.
Yeah. She's really going to come around on Hyle.

Alex Turner Series
Tumblr media
Series Masterlist
Summary: Who knew Alex Turner, frontman to one of the greatest bands of this generation had the worst luck in love. As a romantic who's quite familiar with heartbreak, Turner's grown sick of looking for a spark that will eventually burn him. So, while visiting a local pub, how was he supposed to know that a drunken Tuesday night, would change his sombre tune forever?
Inspired by the album Everything You've Come To Expect. Mature content (sexual acts, language) Original character.
Chapter one:
Aviation
Toronto, November 15, 2015
5:57 pm
Alex's POV
"That's enough Turner!" Zach yells over the various clamouring instruments. "You've been working on these songs for weeks and this was the best you got mate?" Jaime continues with a snort. "Yeah?" I huff, rolling my eyes.
Jaime and Zach exchange a knowing look before Zach pipes up again. "You know what Al? Why don't you call it a night, maybe go out, meet a few girls, have fun." He then glances to my right. "Miles you stay and finish your set."
"What's this?" I jest, bewildered by my bandmates.
"Sorry Al, the songs you've been writing these days just aren't the Shadow Puppets brand," Jaime trails off, looking more empathetic than his counterpart. My brows crease further into my eyelids and I dully unclasp the guitar strap from my shoulder. "My songs don't fit the 'brand' of my band?" I glare at them in disbelief as the two share another look.
"Sorry Al, but your material has been all doom and gloom these days." Miles now exclaims while avoiding my troubled expression. He pauses before continuing. "Your greatest hits are love songs, passionate shite." Miles's eyes then connect with my own, and I finally understand what he's implying. "It's been a while mate." His last statement was the final blow.
That's right, I haven't been with anyone for months, romantically, physically, and everybody knows it. These days I just find romance to be tiresome. Even a shag doesn't seem to excite me much anymore. I've simply gone mad, that's what it is.
Though they seem to have me all figured out, I refuse to give in to their remarks. "You lot have lost it. I'll come back when you've come to your senses!" I bark out while snatching up my guitar and jacket. The boy's faint snickers fill the room as I take off towards the door. "Aw c'mon, Al!" Jaime carries out, stifling his laughter. I slam the door behind me with unnecessary force, utterly infuriated.
Instantly after leaving the studio, I feel the blistering Canadian winter encase my narrow frame. "Bugger," I snit before whipping out my phone, in hopes an Uber would usher me away from this frost. To my dismay, because of the excessive snowfall, transport was either delayed or unavailable, and I had no interest in sticking around roadside. So, I switched to searching for a local pub, racing out of the cold.
...
After a numbing 10-minute journey, I reached a pub called Les Cactus and ripped open its wooden entrance, embracing its heat. Whilst I take a seat on the nearest bar stool, a flash of red catches the corner of my eyes. A waitress with her back turned serves drinks to a group of men who gawk at her with an unreserved fancy. Momentarily, I admire her long, fiery hair that flows down her fit backside. Fortunately, the incoming bartender removes me from my fairly pervy thoughts. "What can I get for ya buddy?" The bartender ranks down my features, odd excitement filling his own. "You got any Bulleit?" He smirks.
"Sure thing." He spins away from me, before quickly rotating back and whispering for my ears only, "Big fan by the way." I smile politely with a nod as he disappears into the bar to prepare my drink. My gaze returns to the space where the redhead once stood, which is now vacant. "Here ya go. Let me know if you need anything else!" The bartender ponders shortly before speaking, "My name's Mickey by the way." He places my bourbon down with an oddly suggestive wink.
8:24 pm
"Maybe consider spacing out your next drink Alex. I get you're a millionaire and money ain't a thing," Mickey bobs his head, taking note of appearance, "but you're kinda overdoing it buddy," he finishes. I scoff at his smirk and slap a bill on the countertop. "Another." My face and tone drop in an attempt to be taken seriously, but my drunken command doesn't detour Mickey's delight.
"You're the boss."
"Uh-uh, that's at least his sixth drink this hour M." An unfamiliar feminine voice pitches in. It's husky and demanding, and so, I intend to listen. Curiously turning to look, my vision is consumed by that recognizable carrot-like head. If I was captivated before seeing her face, I was surely a goner now.
Mickey ceases his actions while she stares between us with scrutiny. I'm gobsmacked and she clearly takes my silence as a sort of confirmation. "Right, no more for him. Okay M?" Mickey nods sternly, face falling moderately as her tone leaves no room for opposition. "Alexander!" I practically cry out before Red gets the chance to leave. Smooth Turner.
"Excuse me?"
"I-uh, name's Alex..." Yeah, very smooth.
"Jennie." She states curtly, evidently bemused. She then moves swiftly on her heel towards the kitchen. Straight away I grimace, pulling a hand to my forehead, rubbing its lines harshly. "Not a word." Mickey chuckles quietly and goes back to his work.
9:41 pm
"Still here, Alexander?" My head shoots up, startled by Red. When did I even fall asleep-
"Yes?" She snorts at my jumbled reply.
"Want me to call you a cab? A shrink perhaps?"
"M' sorry?" I question clumsily.
"Oh? I just thought you may need one, after hearing what you told to Mickey." Her sultry voice echoes out her rather devious grin. "God." My eyes widen in horror which aids her impending elation. "What have I said?"
"Nothing really, just that..." She starts counting her digits absentmindedly. "You've got no luck writing your music, no love life. Oh, and you have no sex life!" She proclaims the last part with glee. Jesus, please end this nightmare.
"I did not."
"Did too."
"I've had too much drink."
"Drunken words are sober thoughts." Jennie carries on smiling at my trepidation. Maybe I'd find her charming if her jokes weren't at my expense. "That's it, I'm not tipping." I declare pathetically. Her devilish smirk doesn't falter. "Seriously? Things can't be that bad! Mickey tells me you're actually a successful musician."
"That you've obviously never heard of." I roll my eyes at the absurdity of our conversation. She laughs aloud at my response, which I admit, brought a genuine smile to my face. It really has been a while. Her face then goes blank. "Alexander."
"Alex."
"Alex. You're young." She pauses, her gaze sweeps my shaggy appearance. "Ish"
"Ouch." I flinch jokingly, earning myself another gorgeous laugh and playful swat.
"Hey! And you're good-looking."
"Ish." I interrupt again with a chuckle and her smile grows.
"No!" She more or less shouts, "You have a lot to work with, trust me." Her hands gesture nimbly. "The only thing standing in the way of you getting laid is yourself." A surprise roar of laughter leaves my lips shortly and I shake my head in disbelief.
"You're selling yourself short here Alexander," Red concludes. "Alex-"
"You're wasting your youth-ish," she interrupts me once again and a sliver of silence washes over us. It's as if we're the only ones in this packed pub, eyes locked on one another, communicating beyond words. Her deep hazel orbs focus on my brown ones. "What do you suggest I do then, Jennie?" Lightly raising a brow, my words dare her while her lovely name rolls off my tongue. I can't help but revel in how it sounds. Then something flashes in her fixated stare.
"Let's get out of here."

oh, i think you’re standing on my left foot
pairing: jamie tartt/gn! reader word count: 915 warnings: allusions to nsfw requested: no
establishing myself as a ted lasso fan and s2 jamie tartt ... i miss you and your mess!!!
if there's one thing you learned during your time tethered with jamie is that there are no good relationships, only boring ones.
Jamie watches you like prey. It’s the only real way to subtly attract what he wants. Lingering glances, a trailing hand, circling around your frame. To be wanted is to be hunted, you've learned that he is not interested in things that don't give chase.
It's a motivation, after all, a purpose that keeps your relationship relatively stable. You are caught within his bite, punctured right through your chest and stiches slowly pulling apart. He sews them back up through fleeting meaningless affection. If neither of you had that, this would have surely failed long ago.
So, you're not particularly bothered at his sudden departure from Richmond to Manchester. His physical presence comes without attachments and dialogue is exchanged through some messages. His appearance on a dating show wasn't anything of note. There's not enough shame in him to weigh a full ounce an even that description is grossly generous. You didn't mind him crawling back into your lap after his status had been stripped for him and he was a liability only you could handle.
You are not jaded by his worst qualities, it's something you've learned to embrace over short moments. Realistic is a term that sits well as coffee pours from his sponsored Keurig. It already looks dent and worn despite being a newer model, obvious marks of his most epic battle of configuring basic technology. The machine spurred to life only after a second and doesn't even fill your cup halfway. It's a shame because Jaime only buys shitty holiday creamers, lured by their supposed seasonal exclusivity.
He's forced you to bring your own, the splash of French vanilla hardly does anything to increase volume. Imposed domesticity, is there anything more romantic than that? Some would argue that's all this arrangement is.
"You're up early, eh?" His voice doesn't spark your attention.
The patting of his feet trickles alongside him as he treks downstairs. This house is fraught with empty crevices that echo any sound that grazes their walls. The sound of a spoon swilling in your cup is deafening, it's somewhere around seven in the morning. Jaime doesn't keep any clocks near him—your guess is purely intuitive, and this attempt of an early departure has gone unnoticed.
His arm slips past your waist and plants itself against the marble counter, a chaste kiss pressed against your collarbone follows in quick succession. He's nothing if not a man composed of unrecognized rhythm. "Gettin' real sick of me already?"
His canines lightly dig into your shoulder, teasing teeth marks that will somehow inevitably find themselves in planned positions later on. Jaime takes time with his hunt, what he's struck down is his alone. You don't altogether mind the implications of it.
His bare pelvis grazes against your backside but he's still soft. The grasp he's kept on your waist is tender alike to his tone. He's reeling you in for more. "Don't ask stupid questions. Your sudden modesty isn't doing you any favors."
Modesty is an exaggeration. If you hadn't chosen dramatics, you would have settled on slim dignity.
His hair tickles the back of your neck, face resting against the dip in your shoulder. "Least, I didn' beg you to stay. What an absolute sad sack of shit I would be." He would have done so though; you don't dare to say it out loud. Instead, a complacent grin rises upon your lips as you turn within his hold.
He would've stuttered through some messy halfhearted apology that only concerned itself with fibs if you hadn't taken him back after everything. You wonder if he would've resorted to some insincere confession. I really like you; the words would be chewed out into sticky syllables, molasses coating each one.
The thought would be so amusing if you didn't know that in another life, it would be true.
"The day Jamie Tartt has to beg to get his way will be when hell in unleashed."
Your hands languidly wrap around his neck, fingers loosing connecting near his upper back. Scratching a trail along his clothed spine and he hums in affirmation. Jaime shuts his eyes, keeping his hands on you and shallowly swaying.
"D'ya always have to speak so melodramatic?" Unsubtly, his grasp manages to travel down your waist. Small squeezes encouraging you to find a seat on his marble countertops. "Nothin' like oh yeah, Jamie, I think ya so smart and I want your cock."
His suggestions are something you often resist at first.
"You ever hear me say cock in this lifetime and I want you to hire a militia firing squad to go at me. Promise me that."
His first curls up nearly your shoulder, it's gone through a hesitantly travel you've only been acutely aware of. There's an instinct for Jamie to cup your face, you can sense his conflict over such an insignificant action. "I'm not good on promises, love."
"Yeah," his calloused fingers return to dig into your thighs. They aide you in finding some purchase on the cramped enclosure. In the meanwhile, you trail light pecks along his jaw. "I'm aware."
He wants you this morning, roaming down the length of your frame with precision. Just like he did last night and just like all the other nights where you'll stumble into his home with him half bruised. Somehow, he's been made the epitome of temptation in your eyes. You don't think prey often wish to be devoured.
It doesn't matter. You'll indulge him this once.

6 - Revealing Letters

Part 7
The Last Velaryon

Two months ago
Strolling through the long and winding hallways I paused in my tracks outside the great library. The library of Kings Landing was the largest one except for the great one near the Wall. Entering the room I scanned over the books searching for my house name. "Don't bother looking. I already found it, my lady."
"Who's there? Show yourself!" I raised my voice reaching underneath the skirt of my dress, wrapping my fingers around the handle of the short sword Jaime had gifted me.
Footsteps came around the corner of the tall bookshelves and the shadow in the light appeared to be much shorter before I saw who it was. "You would draw your sword on a dwarf. How rude of you."
"Tyrion...forgive me. I am unfamiliar with this place so I am quite jumpy." I apologize to the dwarf.
He bent his head down coming over to me. "It's alright. I'm perplexed as to why your lady in waiting is not at your side like normal."
"She is forced to attend a new lady in waiting lessons at the Queen's command. Even though I am fairly certain that it is just to see if she is trustworthy." I shrugged my shoulders not knowing much about Queen Cersei except that most didn't wish to cross her.
Tyrion glanced over to two empty seats at a table, untucking the book he was carrying underneath his arm. "Would you care to sit and read this book with me, Lady Haelesa?"
"Uh sure. What are you reading?" I question the younger Lannister after pulling out the seat across from him and sitting down.
Tyrion held up the book with the cover facing me. "The History of House Velaryon, of course."
"Why would you wish to learn about my family history?" I asked him after he flipped to the first page of the dusty book.
The young lion shifted his green eyes to meet mine. "We are to be a family in a fortnight. Plus I always desire to learn new things."
"Maybe then you can teach me about your family history." I offered and he agreed, bringing us to the point of being friends from that day on.
Slipping inside the large door of my best friend's chamber door. Jaime was still running around the city as if he was a Kingsguard or just doing anything to avoid talking with me. "Haelesa, do you have the letter you want to send out?"
"I do. Do you have one for me?" Chezney rose from her vanity chair holding up a new one that she had been meaning to give me. "Who's the letter from?"
Handing her the scroll she passed me the one she had. Unrolling it out after breaking the house seal not bothering to see who it was from. Scanning my eyes over the paper I began reading it aloud. "Dear Haelesa. Chezney, it has been awhile since I have written my last letter to you two. I know that you wished that I was never married off but I actually was lucky enough to like my lord husband. I am curious to hear if anything has changed your opinions recently - write back soon Joella."
"Is that what you wrote in your next letter to her?" Chezney asked me with a cheeky smirk.
Avoiding her gaze I whispered under my breath. "Maybe."
"About Jaime Lannister?" She questions.
Shaking my head no, I corrected with what direction her head was going. "Not in the way that you are thinking."
"Can I read it?"
"No!" I snapped.
"Why not. You've let me read every other one you have written. How is this one any different?"
"You may be my best friend but it doesn't mean you have the right to go through my messages." Putting my hands on my hips I scowled at her. I had my hair up in a bun wearing a blue tunic over a white dress skirt that wasn't too tight on me.
Chezney glared at me, scoring a red Lannister lady in waiting outfit compared to my former colors. "How else would your messages get sent? A normal messenger has been instructed by the Queen to read them before they ever leave Kings Landing."
"Yes but - you may have a point yet I'm still not giving you permission to read it."
Chezney rose from her chair, still holding onto the letter before she bolted towards the door. "That's unfortunate cause I'm totally reading it without your permission."
"Chezney Ally, don't you dare!" I warned her whipping my head around in her direction.
She unfolds the paper as quickly as she can, reading it aloud just to spite me. "Dear Joella, I am not sure how to write this out in a formal letter but I shall try my best. I have been betrothed off to Jaime Lannister yet I despise the entire thought of it-"
"Chezney, give me it back now!" I chased after her, nearly catching up with her heels.
She cackled, returning to her reading. "My reasoning for despising the arrangement has changed from what it originally was. I was given the chance to meet the young wolf of Winterfell, Robb Stark. He may just be the one that I wished I could marry - You like him."
"I didn't say that." I halted in my tracks, snatching the scroll from her hand when she turned to face me.
She jumped up lightly into the air. "But you hinted at the possibility. You said you wished you had been betrothed to him. You can't deny your own handwriting."
"Ssssh keep your voice down, Chez. If anyone hears us talking they might send us back home and my house could be ruined." Holding a finger up to my lips I warned her.
She nodded in understanding. "I know, Hael. But is there a possibility you could be wed to Robb if Jaime never takes your maiden hood?"
"I doubt it. One way or another people will find out that we lied in the months to come when I don't start showing signs of being pregnant." Tucking hair behind my ear someone knocked on the locked door making us both jump. I scampered off to hide behind the bed when she cracked open the door.
"Can I help you, my lord?" Chezney asked, holding the door closed enough where you could only see her head.
I recognized Jaime's voice on the other side of the door. "I'm looking for my wife. You are her lady in waiting so I am hoping you can tell me where she has gone."
"I must say I haven't seen her recently."
Jaime clearly didn't believe her. "I'd suggest not lying to me. I've spoken with my brother before our wedding and he says you two are basically attracted at the hip. Now where is she?"
"I don't have to tell you her whereabouts." Chezney raised her tone toward the lord.
Coming out of my hiding spot I rounded the bed, coming up behind my friend and tugging her away from the door. "What do you want with me, Jaime?"
"I'm here to inform you that the North has declared war against the South. The young wolf rides North to dethrone Joffrey." Jaime informed me.
Chezney stands behind me when I crossed my arms over my chest confused at where he was going with this. This had nothing to do with me regardless of me being married to a Lannister now. "How does this have anything to do with us?"
"My father has declared that we need to face off against him. I am to lead his army against the wolf boy. So I am coming to have you accompany me."
I knitted my brows still not following him. "From what I have been taught a battlefield is no place for a lady."
"You've already proven you aren't a typical lady. But if you wish to stay here and gossip about nonsense rather than be on the front that really matters. By all means you and your friend enjoy yourselves." Jaime turned on his heels about to leave.
Biting my lip I didn't waste another second not wanting to be caged in another castle. "I'll go with you - We'll go with you." Chezney takes my hand in his and he glanced over his shoulder back at us simply giving a nod and walking away without another word.
Comments really appreciated ❤️

Official cast interviews for Blue Beetle (2023) from DC Nation
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Found these interviews in the back of Ravager: Knight Terrors and Robin: Knight Terrors. They seem to be inserted in Aug publications at random? If anyone finds Bruna Marquezine's interview please drop them and @ me
Update: The above interviews are now transcribed below:
Interview with Xolo Maridueña:
What can you share about the origin story of Jaime Reyes—and his alter ego, Blue Beetle?
Jaime is someone who's coming back to his hometown from college. One day he comes across this scarab that grants him powers beyond belief. At first, he's reluctant to become a hero, but ultimately he'll decide to accept his fate—whether he feels worthy or not!
Like most comic book films, there are tons of origin stories to pull from. I think our movie amalgamates some of Jaime's best stories in comics over the years.
How does this scarab give Jaime his powers?
The scarab, Khaji Da, is a sentient alien life-form on a mission across the universe to detect technological advancements. The scarab just so happens to attach itself to Jaime and he's granted incredible powers.
The powers are more a question of what can't he do? He can fly, punch things super hard, make his hands turn into different weapons. He's kind of just the best superhero out there...if I do say so myself.
Who is the villain of the movie, Victoria Kord?
Victoria Kord is played by Susan Sarandon in the film. Victoria is truly a billionaire mogul with her eyes on the prize. However, she has a bit of a chip on her shoulder because there was a disagreement on who should head up Kord Industries. Susan Sarandon is such an amazing actress and as much as Victoria Kord has a bad side, she's also very charming.
What makes this superhero film unique?
This film really is gonna tap into that familiar family feeling that is irreplaceable. You're gonna meet Jaime's family and say, maybe I don't look like them, maybe our parents don't come from the same place, but I know this type of love and what this relationship feels like. I hope it will make a lot of people realize you don't have to do everything alone.
All the moments that led up to Jaime encountering the scarab were because of the foundation that his family was able to build on.
Interview with George Lopez:
What can you tell us about Rudy, your character in the film?
On my last trip to Atlanta, I was in a car and I looked out the window and there was a guy working for the city with about a 10-inch goatee, glasses, long hair, and a city orange vest that had no sleeves, and I thought, man, that's me. I like the idea that we're so quick to judge somebody by the way they look, and Rudy is a bit of a contradiction from the way that he looks.
Why do you think the scarab chose Jaime Reyes as its host?
I think it chose Jaime because it knew that he's a good guy. The scarab chose somebody who would use their powers for good. If you go back into the bug lair and you see Ted Kord's previous Blue Beetle uniforms it was from a guy that had money, was a little bit eccentric, and would create these outfits for himself...but he couldn't fly anywhere.
What can fans expect from Blue Beetle's costume?
You've seen nothing until you've seen the Blue Beetle costume deploy and the pincers retract! It's amazing to see him fly and fight. He operates in a dark blue and black costume, similar to charcoal, which may be the coolest colors of all time. It feels more like a skin than an actual costume. I've seen a lot of bugs in my day, but I've never seen one that looks like that.
How is being a part of Blue Beetle meaningful to you?
As an actor, I've been fortunate enough to have done stand-up for a long time, had my own show named after me, and a number of other incredible things in my career. However, I would have hated to not be involved in this project. If I wasn't cast in this movie it would've been heartbreaking in a sense, but I'm honored to be a part of it. To know that you're specifically chosen to be in this great project, and give life  to a guy like Rudy, is beyond an honor.

hello! i’m looking to get into blue beetle and was wondering if you could tell me about him? what’s he like as a person and superhero and stuff
thank you!
helloo!!! sorry for taking so long!!! you've come to the right place!!!!
(please bear with me, english is not my first language)
first, here's a reading list im working on! it's still very much a wip but it covers most his more prominent apperances (you can check my pinned post for a link to a spreadsheet that has more apperances if you want background/cameos) https://jaime-reyes-archive.carrd.co/#guide-eng
If you want the best intro to him as a character you should read his first book from 2006. It falls off a bit at the end with the writer change imo but the rest it absolutely fantastic and what made me love the character so much! A follow-up to that would be Blue Beetle: Graduation Day, his most recent mini.
Here's an abridged description of his character, more other media you watch him on and my thoughts about his different media and comic characterizations. Buckle up! We have a long way to go. I'll try not to spoil the first run too much:
Jaime Reyes is a a mexican-american teenager (15/16 in his first run, 17/18 in his most recent mini), son of mexican immigrants who lives in El Paso, Texas. He became the third Blue Beetle after Khaji Da, the scarab that belonged to the first Beetle, Dan Garrett, latches onto his spine overnight. He was scared and rejected his power at first, looking for ways to get rid of the scarab, who is capable of communicating with him in his head. Through some mentoring from more experienced characters and communication with the scarab they grow to think of each other as friends and brothers. (highlight: bb06 book one & #25)
Jaime's most important trait is his deep connection to his family and community, notably not keeping his identity as a hero secret from his family and close friends. He is constantly aided and supported by them in his journey to becoming a superhero. (highlight: bb06#1-7, 16, 17, 25-26)
He is a normal teen who was suddenly given powers, so a constant theme is the nervousness and stress he has about the amount of responsibility and expectations he was suddenly given. He tries to do right by his family and community, choosing to dialogue with any possible foe before attacking, and prioritizes the security of the people he protects over his reputation or being on the good side of other leaguers or authorities. Personality wise, he has a very light spirit, and a good sense of humor, he regularly jokes around while fighting. He is good-natured and often silly. (highlight: bb06#17, blue beetle: Graduation Day, Justice League Action)
As a hero, he is the wielder of a potentially world-domination weapon that has enough power to rival that of a green lantern (bb06#1), multiple teen titans, producing synthetic kryptonite (bb06#18), tracking people, protecting him from falling from the atmosphere (bb06#1), hacking batman's computers (the secret six storyline), producing a wide range of weapons, flying, a type of dimension-jumping (bb06#25), etc. The world is lucky that Khaji Da is in the hands of a good kid.
In his original story, he had no relationship with the other Beetles, being mentored by an array of different heroes. After Rebirth, though, he and Ted Kord were often written as a team, either as a duo or through ocasional teamups. It is important to say, however, that Jaime's growth as a hero was more impacted by his family, friends and mentors than it was by Ted. He is self-made and has a separate legacy from the other two Blue Beetles that should not be discredited. Their stories have been separate more than they have not, and recently there has been a subtle push to recognize Jaime as the current main Beetle, and Ted as someone whose time in the spotlight has passed, as opposed to having both of them as The Blue Beetles. (Blue and Gold #7, Blue Beetle: Graduation Day)
Notable relationships:
Paco and Brenda, his best friends
Khaji Da, the scarab. His brother and half of the Blue Beetle
Milagro, Brenda and Alberto, his sister and parents
The posee and La Dama, first rivals, then close allies in his community
Hector and Nadia, the people he trusts the most and the team's tech experts
Peacemaker, Guy Gardner and Starfire, his most notable mentors
Batman, who has gone out of his way to spend a lot of money on him and his family without them knowing lol. Compensation for certain wrong choices I'd say.
The JLI, legacy allies. Especially Booster Gold.
The Reach, his main antagonists. Creators of Khaji Da
Other media
Batman: The brave and the bold: Jaime has a lot of remarkable appearances in BATB! He's literally in the first episode lol. I love his characterization and his dynamic with Batman, and the approach to Jaime's relationship with Ted Kord. His origin story isn't the same, but a lot of characters' stories were changed to be more Batman-centric so i don't really mind. He is also one of the main characters in the Wii game, and his banter with batman is really fun. Definitely one of my favorites
Justice League Action: a more light-hearted version of him! Really fun and the design is very cute imo. Also has some funny banter with Batman
Young Justice: the second season has The Reach as main villains, so Jaime is pretty prominent. He doesn't appear much after that though. It's not exactly my favorite adaptation but it introduced a lot of people to him so it's notable.
The dc animated movie universe: not that interesting lol he's mostly a bg character.
NOTES ON HIS COMICS
The Blue Beetle 2006 run by Lilah Sturges tries to tackle an immigration storyline, but does so poorly and has a very important main character siding with right wingers. The final issue has a couple of upsetting endings for some beloved characters. It starts after #30 and ends the book.
New 52 is awful. Awful. Changed his origin, his relationship with almost everybody, gave him a weird running joke with the scarab and a lot of the dialogue and characterization choices come off as insaaaanely xenophobic, racist and classist. Also all of it was retconned so it's not even worth reading.
Rebirth was written by Giffen and had Ted Kord back as a mc. Also changed the scarab's origin from tech to magic. Not a favorite of mine, a lot of it is based around Giffen's humor, which i never really connected with, and the dynamic between Jaime and Ted can get annoying after a while. I've noticed it's still enjoyed by a lot of people and only had 16 issues, so you should probably give it a try and see for yourself.
Blue Beetle: Graduation Day is very good. Probably his best book since his first run. It's just about to end, the final issue comes out next week. It's just a mini so it can feel like it was missing more issues to fully flesh out what it wanted to do, but it honestly is refreshing to have Jaime's family and cast back. Also introduced a new city, a new armor and a lot of new characters!! I highly recommend it
This is all I can think of without going into extremely detailed analysis and breakdowns of every little bit of content he has had over the years!! I hope it's understandable and helps guide you into this beloved character <3 He's absolutely one if not my favorite DC character, and means a lot to me. If you have any questions or would like me to clarify about anything I'd be more than happy to answer!!

To answer YOUR question positive cersei content is kind of an oxymoron to me outside of the obvious jokey girlboss stuff. I guess the closest thing to 'positive' cersei content is acknowledging that she's the way that she is for a pretty good reason and doesn't exist as evil bitch in a vacuum. Where i see Tyrion being talked about more positively (but tbf positively isn't the word I meant to use, i'd say more sympathetically) is in your au that you did about joanna.
my last ask got too long for the tumblr Gods so here's the end of it: The interpretation I got from your au was deff sort of a "Jaime and Tyrion are still loved and get their mothers love even though it's conditional but Cersei is the only one who has any explicit negative feelings towards her mom and isn't made immediately sympathetic" I'm not sure if you or others would agree but it was something that jumped out to me and made me go hmm… if that makes sense. I don't hate your au btw! I thought your characterization of joanna was really unique and intriguing.
I agree, 'positive Cersei content' sounds kind of counterintuitive - there aren't really any positive themes in Cersei's story to riff off of.
but to your point on 'acknowledging that she's the way that she is for a pretty good reason and doesn't exist as an evil bitch in a vaccuum' - I feel it's fair to say I do acknowledge this. I've always said I feel like there's both nature and nurture in all the characters and especially Cersei, that she wouldn't be Cat if she were raised by Hoster (for example), but she wouldn't be the woman she is in canon, either.
I don't think human beings are born as blank slates, and I don't think that notion makes for good character work, so sure, I'd certainly argue Cersei has some traits her brother's don't, just as Tyrion has traits the twins don't, and so on. but I get the impression you've read more of my posts than the most recent, so do you reckon one could say that I don't advocate that she's an 'evil bitch in a vaccuum'?
as for 'talking about Tyrion more positively' in the Joanna AU - again, personally I don't feel like I do? it's pretty much canon that Cers is full of fury and long has been, and the hcs are really about how I feel that fury would manifest against Joanna in a situation where I think, if it were canon, Joanna would essentially have committed a great wrong against her daughter whilst trying to do something right. and as for Joanna preferring her sons to her daughters in this AU, if anything that was inspired by my mother and grandmother lmao. like this kind of misogyny on the part of mothers in disdaining their daughters and glorifying their sons is veeery familiar to me and I could really see it for Cersei and Jo.
so that's some of my thinking behind the posts, if that helps you understand where I'm coming from!

Once again it's WIP Wednesday so here's a couple snippets from two of my wips!! Firstly, from the Snowfall in New York scene I wrote this week - more of Evan & Kate.
"I don't know how you do it," he admitted as he handed over her coffee and took a sip of his own, "hearing how their families treat these kids." "Come on, you've heard plenty of harrowing stories as a social worker. Besides," Kate continued, becoming more animated now she'd gotten some caffeine in her, "I know what it's like, remember? I know what it is to be kicked out at fourteen and scared out of my mind because everything I've ever known has changed in an instant. It doesn't make it easier, but it means I can understand. And some of these kids don't necessarily want someone getting angry on their behalf, they just want-" "-someone to listen." He realised. "Exactly." "Even so, it's a good thing you do. I've always thought so." "Thanks." She gave a tired smile. "You're not so bad yourself, you know - you do a lot for the community. "Th-thank you." He hoped he wasn't blushing too much.
He's a very new OC but I already love him and his friendship with Kate.
Secondly, a snippet from my Lissa Blackwood AU - set soon after Jaime's return to King's Landing (it helps to write random scenes sometimes)
He didn't even know why he was heading towards the godswood, given that he hadn't been there in...gods, was it really seventeen years? Seventeen? Sometimes it felt like it had been much, much longer than that...but ever since telling Brienne about Lissa, it had begun feeling not that long at all, like he was still that young man who'd had hope of finding his friend. Jaime had only been here twice in all his years. Both times he had made promises, Both times he'd failed to keep those promises. He'd vowed to be there for Lissa if she needed help, and he hadn't been. Months later he'd sworn to the old gods and the new that he would find her, alive, and he'd been unable to find so much as a trace of her. Why am I doing this, he thought, yet still he made his way towards the heart tree, still standing guard over the place, and as he came to a stop the memories came flooding back of the last time he'd seen her; dressed more formally than usual yet still with that air of wildness about her, dark curls falling about her shoulders, concern in her eyes and an uncharacteristic nervousness about her, enough that he'd been compelled to ask about it. I should've pushed. I should've done more to find out what she was really worried about instead of blindly accepting the answer she gave me.
(The path to redemption brings up a lot of stuff for him - Lissa later turning out to be alive doesn't change that)

hi! I wanted to request for the self-ship with milagro reyes(live action one for reference) from blue beetle with a female reader (:
• I think a favorite nickname milagro would use for the reader is simply "her fresa" which goes back to a story on when the two ended up confessing to each other, but the readers face was a deep red and as a way to lighten up the mood Milagro told reader "Eres tan roja como una fresa"(you're as red as a strawberry) •their favorite place to go on a date is a simple burger joint, but it's fairly expensive (around 12 dollars for a burger/fries), so they won't go often but whenever the reader has money from her job she'll take milagro out. •how their relationship is, it's something more wholesome in a way people wouldn't expect. The reader would often go pick her up from where she needs a ride from, and they'll sing songs of a shared playlist together. Or whenever ones feeling awful they would help each other vent some how(cry in each other's arm or go to a rage room). It's where they acknowledge each other's emotions like the back of their own hands. •I would also wanna throw in they've met early on in middle school, so this grown relationship was a slow burn •as in a fact about their relationship is they don't often show much pda, holding hands/each other's arms is really the most. But a thing they've grown to do(as a way to calm down, or would evening be caught doing when cuddling asleep) is touch their foreheads together
strawberry, blueberry

"Babe!" You call from your car, waving your arm as Milagro hops into the car.
"Hola, mi fresa." She presses a kiss to your cheek as you wave at Jaime. "Shall we go?"
"Yes." You grin. "Where do you want to go today?"
"Burgers?"
"That's expensive..." Milagro mumbles.
"Nah, on me." You grin. "Come on."
"Yeah?"
"Only the best!" You turn the shift to drive, stepping on the gas.
Tumblr media
Headcanons:
Burgers... you guys never share the same burger so yall always get a bite of each other's
Rage room dates are just so... nothing like feminine rage as you both absolutely wreck the life out of the room
Bc you've known each other for such a long time, nothing can be hidden. You know each other like the back of your hands
You guys also match strawberry keychains (Milagro got them for your anniversary)
OH. You also share a playlist where both of you add songs to it that you think the other will like.

okay so i have already talked about when, in the hunter!jaime au, jaime (who was like almost 14 atp) sneaked himself along on a hunt with john, sam, and dean. i didn't have a monster picked out for them to hunt, so i've now decided it was a vamp hunt, and it scared jaime pretty badly. traumatized him prolly. so he just really does NOT like vampires after that. he does hunt em but he's not like gordon, super angry at them, he's just scared of them. fast forward to idfk, pre-s8, prolly somewhere in s7. jaime gets turned into a vampire and fucking hates it so so badly. he's so scared of himself. he prolly tells sam and dean to kill him so many times but they're both like "NO we'll cure you goddammit". well they don't catch the vampire who turned him in time, and jaime ends up getting killed. (haha imagine how awful it was for dean to watch jaime get decapitated) jaime goes to purgatory. i want him to meet up with benny and at first be scared af of him. "bro what is your problem" "i'm scare of vampires!!!" "...you're a vampire?" "shut up :(" but they end up teaming up and being pals. maybe more than pals. bc dean and jaime have the same taste in men. bc it'd be funny for dean to be jealous and then join the polycule. and then cas come and be MEGA jealous lmao. anyways so one day jaime and benny hear a baby crying. and jaime's like "am i going crazy or do you hear crying" and benny confirms he hears it too, and then jaime catches the scent and is like "OH... I KNOW THAT SMELL" "you do?" "dean..." "that's dean? the dean you've been talking about the entire time since we met" "noo no that's not him. that's his scent tho... OH I KNOW WHO THAT IS" and they go to find a 3 day old emma. and benny's like "dean had a monster child?" and jaime's like "it's a long story. ig emma is my baby now" so boom jaime's got a baby to take care of.
and when dean gets put in purgatory i'm pretty sure the other monsters could sense humans being in there? so everyone can sense dean in there? and jaime's like "omg we have to find him it's dean!!!" and benny's like "yeah i was gonna say we should look for the human anyways" and benny tells him about the way humans can get out of purgatory (idk the details yet so i'm sorry if any of this ends up inaccurate) and jaime's like "OH RAD" and so they go to find him. and they save dean from that other vampire. dean is sooo surprised to see jaime with a baby in a makeshift baby carrier.

For the writer ask, 10 and 11?
Ooh, more asks! Sorry that I took so long to get to these, anon! It's been a crazy week for me.
10. Top three favorite fic tropes.
Hmm. I have a thing for enemies-to-friends-to-lovers, as my main fandoms have revealed to me over the years--it's most evident here with Jaime/Brienne since their relationship starts out so antagonistically (complete with swordfucking er, I mean, sword fighting). I love variations on this as well, such as "they're secretly falling in love even though they're fighting in real life"--aka the "You've Got Mail" trope.
Competence kink!!! I love it when both Jaime and Brienne are good at what they do. They might be clueless (and/or hopeless) when it comes to relationships because they're idiots in love, but professionally, they've got it together.
And friendship--whether Jaime and Brienne are friends or that they have friendships established. I probably like this for them best because of how lonely each is in canon until either they meet people along the way who become important to them (Pod for Brienne, possibly his gaggle of squires for Jaime) or people who care about them but who they don't see much (Daven and Genna for Jaime).
11. Three tropes that are fine but overrated.
Hrm. The thing with tropes is that I'd probably start off saying, "well, I don't like this..." only to realize that at some point, I've written it!! For example, I didn't used to like "fake dating/relationship" because it always meant that someone got humiliated, usually the heroine (since I read a lot of chick lit novels back in the late 90s-early 2000s). And the last thing Brienne needs is that, kthnx. But then I wrote one such story and actually don't mind them as long as there's no embarrassment!
I'm not the biggest fan of the "Big Misunderstanding" trope. It's fine and I'll read it (and write it), but it's not my favorite. Misunderstandings in and of themselves are fine--communication isn't perfect. But if it's something that's going to drag on forever, then no. Just no.
Beyond that...I don't know. I'm sure there are tropes that aren't my favorites but I'm blanking on them right now, because so often, a person can write a trope I'm kind of "meh" on and make me love it.
Thanks!!
And please, anyone else who wants to send in an ask, please do so! You can find the original post here 😁

A Walk Through The Night
Okay, before we begin, this is my original story, and it’s a precursor to my vampire romance novel that I’m currently writing. Anyways, enjoy!
————————————————————————
I was across the street, eating at a cafe, when my eyes caught a woman with piercing red eyes and dark brown hair. Her hair was blowing in the wind. She seemed to float as she walked, the hem of her dress barely touching the concrete. Her eyes complimented the black color of her intricate outfit, and added to the accents of red already present. I heard the clink of her heels on the sidewalk, and I was completely mesmerized by her presence. I left my coffee and began following her. She twisted and turned through the streets, and I almost lost her several times.       By the time she stopped, it was ten thirty at night. She stood in front of a bar and took a breath before entering the sea-themed door. I snuck in after her, and was thrust into darkness. The only thing that I could hear was running water. I groped around in the dark for a few minutes when I remembered that my phone had a flashlight function and turned it on. I found the door and opened it to find a bar decorated like a ship with monsters everywhere. The place was covered in wood, shells, dried seaweed, coral-like structures, and a huge figure of a pregnant mermaid in glass. I looked around and saw a skeleton stuck in a cage hung up on the ceiling, but that didn't interest me for long because I found the woman that I was looking for.         She was sitting in a booth with two other women. One had golden blonde hair, watery blue eyes, and lots of frills and ruffles throughout her dark outfit. She was wearing pigtails, held up by small purple ribbons. The other woman was slightly taller, and was wearing a grey dress and a black sweater with black eye shadow covering her eyes. Her skin looked like porcelain. I gulped down my nerves, and approached the group of women.       "H-hey there," I stuttered out, my hands shaking.         "Who is he? Did you invite him, Jessica?" The casual girl gestured to the hypnotizing woman I had followed.         "No. I don't interact with many people besides you two." The elegance radiated off of her. "Besides, I've never been happy with a man..."
I was sweating. "I'm sorry for interrupting you." I ran off into the bathroom and went into a stall. What am I doing?' My hands gripped the side of my head, ravaging themselves through my curly hair. The smell of the bathroom lodged itself in my nose as I exited the stall and washed my hands. As the water hit my hands, I looked around and saw a pattern of ships on the wall. I shook off my hands and took a deep breath before returning to the main area. I approached the women again. My thumbs decided to twiddle themselves, and my stomach was full of butterflies, yet I spoke up. "I don't want to sit alone, and I didn't come with anyone. Can I please sit with you?"       "I don't know, can you?" asked the porcelain doll girl with a sarcastic tone.       The woman I lusted over waved her hand. "Oh, Lauren." She laughed, tickling my ears. "You can sit with us. It's cool." Her red eyes met mine, and I almost melted right there. Instead, I sat down. She extended her hand. "My name is Jessica. What's your name?"        I grasped her hand. "My name's Jeremiah. It's nice to meet you, Jessica."      She smiled at me without showing her teeth. "It's a pleasure to meet you too, Jeremiah, especially after you followed me all the way here." My muscles clenched up. 'Shit. She knew that I followed her. What will they think of me?'         "Look at you, Jessica! You've got yourself a stalker!" the fancy girl exclaimed. My cheeks turned red, and as the people looked over to see what the fuss was about, I shrunk down in my seat, hoping nobody would see me. The girl who gave me the unwanted attention grabbed my hand and shook it. "Hi, I'm Jaime." She squealed, and danced around in her seat.        "Shhh, don't embarrass him," Jessica said, taking a book out of her purse. It was red, black, and white, and had "Interview with a Vampire" on it.        "Even if he deserves it?" Lauren said. The two laughed at me as I tried to hide even more. I grabbed Jessica's hands. 'What the hell am I doing?!'      "I love you! You're a beautiful goddess who graces the earth with her presence. You're the flowers that I smell every spring. You're the rose, draped in so much mystery but so much mystery. You're the woman I've been looking for!"      She looked at me with confusion at first, and the embarrassment came for a second, but then she patted my head. "Oh, you poor child. You're just obsessed with me for my beauty. If you knew who I really was, you wouldn't want me." Her frown was too much for me to see.       "But I want you, I promise." I grasped her hands again. Her head looked down at her lap.        "You have no idea how many times a guy has promised that to me... Excuse me." She grabbed tissues from her coffin-shaped purse, and dropped her book on the floor as she ran to the bathroom. I slumped in my seat as the other two discussed some music artists that I had never heard of before. My hand balled into a fist, and I decided to go after her. I knocked on the door.      "I'm sorry, I didn't know anything about you, and I'm sorry for saying all those things. Please don't be mad at me." She didn't answer or come out, so I dragged my feet out of the establishment and started walking home. I heard a rustling, and she was there behind me. I yelled out in surprise. "What the-?!" She grabbed my arm to prevent me from falling down, and she pulled me close. I closed my eyes, expecting a kiss, when a sharp pain shot through my neck. I opened my eyes and saw her biting my neck. I could feel myself getting dizzy, and I fell over onto the street. The last thing I saw was Jessica looming over me, licking her lips. Her canines were sharp, and she relished every drop of blood.
