"No, no, Edwin, stay with me, c'mon," Charles mouths, his hands blissfully cool on Edwin's cheeks, them – and the forehead pressed against his own – the only things still tethering Edwin to consciousness.
But he can feel himself slipping away. Second by second, the wiry black threads of the witch's curse seep into the edges of vision like poisoned tea leaves in hot water. It would almost be soothing, he thinks, this strange, stock-still lake blackness, were it not threatening to swallow Charles whole too.
His mouth trembles when Charles presses his thumb to the lip, frowning.
"Has it gone into your… God, Edwin, can you speak?"
Edwin tries. He really does, but what comes out is a warbled attempt at a name that fails to reassure Charles.
"Shit. Shit. Hey, no, it's fine, you're okay, I'm sure we can… Crystal will…"
Charles' eyes widen slightly.
"You and Crystal. You'll know what to do, won't you? You're both the brains."
And something determined and desperate crosses his face, a deep consternation that Edwin recognises as Charles wrestling between two equally bad choices. In their line of work, it happens almost weekly.
To think, he takes to stroking the apple of Edwin's cheek.
It's a soothing gesture. Almost reverent.
Edwin could cry from it, if only the curse let him.
"Please forgive me," Charles says. Edwin thinks it's Charles, even though he doesn't sound much like Charles anymore.
And there is a swipe of a cool tongue, a complete, mind-numbing shock of a different quality than what Edwin's been fighting with for the past several minutes. An apology and a blessing pressed to his lips. It lasts a short forever, the quiet before an explosion of Charles sucking Edwin's lower lip in and biting. Edwin moans into the pleasure-pain of it, something like ink leaking out from the split, covering Charles' full, reddened lips and seeping through them, taking root, his coal-dark eyes fluttering shut. The next time they open, half of Charles' whites are throbbing and pulsing with disease.
It works, the twisted transfer, Edwin sees as clear as day. He shakes his head before tears can blur it all; Charles sinks to the floor right there, in his arms, in uncontrollable convulsions.
“Come on, come back to me, Edwin”

Questions 6, 20 and 30 for the RoP Ask Game. :-)
Omg thank you for the ask!!
6. Where would you most like to live in RoP and why?
I am going to say Eregion because I can't help myself and I know that means I'm doomed but at least I'd get to see Celebrimbor for several hundred years. (And I’m not quite as doomed as if I said Numenor.) Eregion would be such a beautiful place to live. Imagine going riding along the river, imagine seeing all the beautiful artists work in the city, walking to Khazad Dûm when you're bored. Also I desperately want to see what the statue of Fëanor looks like from the front. Celebrimbor is obviously the main reason I picked Eregion, but let me pine okay. It helps.
20. Name three of your favourite scenes (or lines, or scenes and lines).
The pure Shakespearean quality of the scene where Celebrimbor is talking to the metals. I wish I had a direct quote of it but, the level of feeling is insane. I shushed my family in my second watch through just to hear his delivery. Charles Edwards is a fantastic actor. (in the same vein "I go to the shores of morning ere long..." I cried)
The balrog scene had me kicking and screaming. The balrog was so COOL and they were so careful to honor the original design. I love the way they blended special effects with practical effects in RoP. I just rewatched the Hobbit and I was a bit saddened by how much of those films were vfx (vfx are cool!! But I like a certain balance) and I feel like you could really feel the way the showrunners at RoP understood balance. The scene with Balrog and the king is one of the most cinematic shots in the entire show. I want that as a painting.
“Captivating.”
Annatar’s facial expressions overall were a highlight of the season. (Again the ACTING in this show is insane). But this scene specifically where you can see The Sauron Agenda is being delayed by this Elf who Is Supposed To Be Working. And instead is pointing out Sauron’s mistakes to his FACe. I’ve never seen so much unbridled rage in one little word. You can see his eyes go a little insane. Vickers is extremely talented and I love him as a villain.
40. Choose three characters (not necessarily your favourite ones). Say three positive things about each of them.
Celebrimbor:
1. The brightest smile I’ve seen in ages. I would trust this elf with my life. Let me learn metal smithing from him he’d be such a gentle teacher.
2. So much good was done by this guy. He made an entire city, made a trade route with dwarves, made a specific choice to denounce his own father for the sake of morality (Silm content but listen he’s such a good guy and I love him in both RoP and the Silm). I know he blames himself for Annatar’s deception but he needs to be remembered for all the good he did (I think Elrond will do this, Elrond will defend Celebrimbor’s memory)
3. Stronger than he looks. Listen, no one (not even Sauron) expected Celebrimbor to throw the lying Maia bastard (affectionate) against a pillar. He's a Smith. He's got upper body strength for days. I for one appreciate that.
Durin:
1. The most mentally stable guy. He has it together man. He stands up for himself, defends his wife, says sorry when he needs to, expresses healthy feelings to Elrond when he's mad (after a little bit), mistrusts the magic bastard blonde baby girl (affectionate) hanging around Narvi's best buddy. He is a mental health king.
2. Best Tolkien Wife Guy. Listen we know that Tolkien writes tons of wife guys. Okay. But Durin is the winner of RoP. Elendil would be a close second (and we all know about Tom Bombadil) but we don't get to see him with his original wife and we don't have QUITE enough scenes of him and Miriel. Durin is 100% wife guy.
3. Not above pranking the elves. I mean seriously he finagled a new table out of the HIGH KING. Valar-tier move. He can be serious when it counts but we have to appreciate a man who is down for a shenanigan or two.
Arondir:
1. Feral king. Look at him. All the other elves we see are these controlled dressed up with fancy armor..and here he is running around the woods like a feral cat. I love him. I don't remember if the show explicitly states that he's Sinarin, but he perfectly encapsulates the Sindar vibe and putting him in battles with Galadriel and soldiers of Eregion just perfectly shows the difference between the Noldo stuffiness and Sindar wild woods energy (and they respect each other!!!!) He has the same feral energy that I love about Legolas. (I secretly hope if they add Celeborn that he and Arondir have a good vibe together and have similar energy!)
2. The movement quality of this man is insane. I've known a lot of dancers and let me just tell you when someone knows how to control their body they can make walking or even just turning their head seem ethereal. Arondir has this. Every movement is purposeful. Everything is fluid. He has the grace we wish we had even when stabbing an orc in the throat.
3. Another wife guy TM. And also ready to be a Dad guy. It hurt my heart to watch him lose his little human family so quickly. He is so devoted. He yearns. He YEARNS.

hi! hope you're having a good day so far. I wanted to know who your favourite and least favourite drivers are and why
omg my first ask/anon! hi dear anon, I'm having a terrible day so far but I am hoping it improves.
*these are my opinions and im not forcing them upon anyone. i think it’s important to note that i don’t outright hate any of the drivers. for some, i may express dislike but i know all of them are extremely talented in what they’re doing.*
my favourite drivers are (ranked) -
1. Charles
I can probably write an entire essay about charles. he was the first one that caught my eye, after all. what I love about charles is how he constantly strives for improvement. his bond with Ferrari and the way he adores and trusts his team and engineers really has my heart. charles never hesitates to own up to his mistakes, and he constantly shows his appreciation towards the team. i’m delighted that Ferrari has finally produced a car worthy of its prince. it’s the focus, dedication and consideration for me + his pretty face is always an added benefit lol. he glides across the track like water, he is predestined,
2. Max
when most people try and justify their hatred for max, they tend to talk about his aggression and arrogance. i think max’s aggression makes him the driver he is, while he has made mistakes in the past, i have never witnessed an incident where he repeats his own mistakes. he drove wonderfully last year, he was consistent and level-headed. he made active attempts to stay calm under all the pressure. max was born to race, and it shows- in the way he drives, the way he is in sync with his car, I love everything about it. if charles is water, max is fire
3. Carlos
I love Carlos’ consistency and nature. he is extremely sweet to everyone around him and manages to stay calm and tries to take the best out of any situation on track. he waits for a competitor to make mistakes, and pounces at the right chance. Carlos’s patience and easy going attitude places him third on my list. his driving skills have never been questionable
4. Lando and Alex
I did not really like lando at the beginning, i thought he was immature. Alex, on the other hand, i have always liked. what happened w him at redbull was unfortunate and im so glad he’s back on the grid now. i hope he can finally get to showcase his talent. lando has shown a lot of promise and i hope mclaren make him a car that’s worthy of him
5. Pierre and Yuki
i love their bond and i love them as individual drivers as well. i relate to yuki’s obsession w food and i like that despite his attitude (sometimes) he tries to improve upon himself. yuki is rlly cute and squishable, and i hope helmut doesn’t affect his mentality. pierre drove the alphatauri car to new heights last year, i like how soft he is w charles. yukierre are talented individuals
my least favourite drivers are (ranked) -
1. George
I have never particularly liked him. i dont understand his attitude and personality. for that matter, he’s extremely arrogant as well. he hasn’t yet had as many achievements in f1, albeit he hasn’t had the opportunity either. the way he hit bottas on the head that time was uncomfortable to watch and dangerous.
2. Ocon
idk, there’s just something about him
3. Daniel
a good driver, but i dont think he’s capable of a world championship anymore. a little bit immature for his age but him and max are good friends so ig he must have something good about him. i don’t hate him but i dont have a neutral opinion about him either
4. Lewis
don’t like how he handled the championship last year, or how he drove in certain instances. i saw nico rosberg’s comments ab lewis’ personality as well which made me form a negative opinion. i get the emotions he must have felt and empathise w him and im slowly warming up to him if im being honest. ig my dislike towards lewis stems more from the fact that i hate merc. susie wolff, however, i stan.
